+ -1 moreSomeone was taking care of pets and home while I was out of town. They had turned the furnace on and within 1 1/2 hours the CO alarm went off. He shut off the furnace and opened all doors and windows. I came home late that night and the next day called the company and they were out to the home in 3 hours, with prompt and courteous service. We need a new furnace> I will definitely get an estimate from them.

+ -1 moreHad it not been for the fact that the install date was so far off I would have used their services. However, due to temperatures inside the house reaching 91 degrees I continued to look for estimates and was able to find another company that could install a unit on Monday, July 9, so I opted to use them instead.
Description of Work: I called on July 4th to leave a message about getting an estimate to replace an A/C unit. There was actually someone in the office answering calls and Andy came the next day to give me an estimate. He was prompt, courteous, and thorough. He compiled all the information he needed to develop an estimate and told me I would have it by Friday. To my surprise he returned to my house about an hour later. He told me that he was not happy with the way his calculation turned out for sizing the unit and asked if he could come in and do some further investigation. I was very impressed that he took the time to come back to make sure everything would be done correctly. As promised, Andy had an estimate to me on Friday. The only drawback was that the installation could not be done until the first or second week of Augus, unless they had a cancellation.

Description of Work: The inspection report when we sold my parents house identified a gas leak inside their furnace and since it had been installed and serviced by White in the past, I called them. The technician arrived, quickly located and repaired the problem.

Description of Work: we phoned white heating on tues.5/29/12 in AM and they replied that they were booked all week, but some one would call...they called us back approx, 2 PM and left message...by that time we had called someone else who was willing to come that evening...a/c was broken and house was reading 90.....my health could not wait any longer

+ -1 moreAlthough they could not locate source of a very intermittant noise that sometimes occurs when furnace starts up (noise did not occur for the technician), the tech told me how to isolate the problem when it occurs. Feel work was professionally done, technician was professional and appeared knowledgeable, and price was fair. Will continue to use them.

+ -1 moreI emailed White Heating and they called back within a day, and set up a time to come out and take measurements to determine the amount of furnace we needed. Gary was very professional and got me an estimate the next day. Once we decided to go with White, they were able to set up an appointment 2 weeks out for the installation. The two installation men showed up on time with all the necessary equipment and supplies. The furnace and humidifier installation looks very professional, and all the wiring, piping, and tubing necessary is neat and orderly, and the exhaust vent masonry is also neat and clean. Initially the estimate was for one long day's work, but it took an extra morning due to the need to fabricate some ductwork. They also made sure to leave room for the interior A/C unit when we want to upgrade to central air. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to friends.
Description of Work: They installed a new Lennox Signature Series high-efficiency furnace, a air filter, and humidifier, and hauled away our ancient furnace and electric air cleaner. They also installed a pump for the condensation from the furnace and water from the humidifier to be pumped to the laundry basin on the other side of the basement, as the drain was far from the furnace location.

Description of Work: We used White Heating for routine furnace maintenance. They checked the components to make sure they were functioning properly and humidifying properly. They switched over from the summer mode to the winter mode and changed some of the filters.

+ -1 moreWe’ve used them for 10-12 years and they are fantastic. They are very straightforward and their quotes are right up front. They encourage us to shop around because they stand by their work. They are more a word of mouth type company and I haven’t seen them advertise. Everybody is very happy with them. We had a humidifier problem and the guy was very forthcoming on the phone. He said he could send somebody out and it would cost x dollars per hour or he could tell me it was the filter and I could drive by the shop and pick one up for $13. I appreciated that and that was fantastic. I always have used them and I always will.

+ -1 moreCalled them up on Sunday morning and it sounded like they were probably booked all day and would need to wait until Monday. I asked them to call me if something opened up and, sure enough, they had a cancellation and could stop by on Sunday after all. Quickly fixed the problem (they had the replacement capacitor on the truck) and did a good inspection of the A/C and heating unit to make sure that there wasn't anything else I should be concerned about. Very professional and couldn't have been happier. The labor cost was higher since it was Sunday but it was well worth it.
Description of Work: Lennox outside fan was not running and so A/C system was not working.

+ -1 moreOur appointment was scheduled for a couple of weeks after I called. The time wait was due to our schedule, not theirs. We probably could have gotten one sooner. When the technician checked our boiler he determined that some cleaning needed to be done which he couldn't do that day. The company called us back that same day to schedule the cleaning, which was done a few days later. The same technician did the cleaning which was nice since he was the one who checked it initially.
Description of Work: Initial visit was to check our boiler. Second visit was to clean parts of the boiler. The $132 was for both the check-up and cleaning.

+ -1 moreA good, reliable serviceman we have used regularly, since a prior one retired. Friendly and agreeable, willing to check or explain requests or problems. Neat in his work and unobtrusive. The firm appears quite professional and reliable, and we have been using their services for 34 years.
Description of Work: Annual servicing and checkup. Fee is higher because our home has two furnaces, each with large filtering sections requiring over-sized filters, and an AprilAire humidifier. Serviced both furnaces, oiled the motors, and checked to rule out any carbon monoxide emissions. One is a rather old furnace, yet yearly checks indicate that it remains operating safely, which has enabled us to put off replacing it for several years now. Replaced the two large filters about 4" thick and a water panel in the humidifier. Due to dry air the past winter, requested, and he reset the humidifier higher at 40%.

He discussed with me the option of installing a new a/c system, considering multiple locations and the pros and cons of each. I'll definitely use them in the future for HVAC jobs. I had a competitive bid by a highly rated company, and the White Heating cost was about 75% of the other bid. Quality, at a good price.
Description of Work: They replaced a broken furnace with a Lennox Elite 2-stage 70 ton, 94% efficient model. Terry came to my house for an estimate; he was timely, helpful, and courteous. He measured the house to verify the size, asked a lot of questions about insulation, type of construction, etc. He also asked about plans for renovation or additions, and discussed furnace sizing in that case. He gave a furnace sizing estimate on the spot, but verified with a calculation after returning to the office. The work was scheduled within a few weeks, and was performed when and as planned. The two technicians were efficient, courteous, helpful, and understanding of my questions about the work as they were removing the old furnace and adding the new. They also installed a new humidifier ($300, at Terry's recommendation because the ease of filter changing compared to the old one). I was very pleased with the work performed, and have had no problems with the furnace so far, and expect none.

+ -1 moreVisit was made two day after request, which was prompt considering that Pittsburgh is in a 90s heat wave. Tech was knowledgeable and friendly. He allowed me to assist a bit, outside of the electrical work, and therefore speed up his repair a little as well as keep the labor cost of the bill from being larger (at $88/hr).
Description of Work: Troubleshot and repaired non-functioning Lennox a/c condenser outside. Rain shield had broken, bound up the fan from turning, and overheated the equipment. Rain shield was replaced. Since it had happened about a month ago and the motor had been exposed to rain for that period of time plus being 13 years old, I requested and had the motor replaced as well.
