We talked to someone a few months before the move and told them how much furniture and how many boxes we thought we would have. We asked if they wanted to come and do their own estimate and they declined. On the day of the move they called and told me that the person who had taken our initial call had forgotten to take our payment information. I was told that this person often made these kind of mistakes and was "no longer with the company." The plan, which they had agreed to, was to pack up our house then go to another apartment and pack that up. When they finished with the house, they told us that they barely fit everything in the truck and that they probably wouldn't be able to get everything from the apartment. When they got there, they took most of the furniture and a few of the boxes. They told us that there was no way to get a second truck anytime soon. A very rude manager called us, implied that we had intentionally underestimated how much we had, and informed us that we owed 600 more dollars. We had to rent a truck and move the rest of the boxes ourselves a few days later. This company is either extremely incompetent or outright criminals who scammed us. Of note, the guys who actually moved our stuff were courteous and did a good job. It's too bad they work for such a terrible company.

Response from Two Men And A Truck
This move was originally scheduled back on April 22, 2015 the amount of furniture on the estimate did not warrant the necessity for an in home estimate. The customer told us that we would be stopping at their mother's apartment, located in downtown Pittsburgh, to pick up a few pieces of furniture and roughly 5 boxes after we loaded the main part of the move located in Monroeville. The medium size home that the customer refers to is actually a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, and 2,000 sq. ft. home. This is not a medium size home. We called the customer two days before the move to confirm everything and go over the list of furniture that we had on the estimate. They confirmed the list and told our sales manager, once again, only a few pieces of furniture and maybe a couple of boxes from the downtown apartment. When the men arrived to the house, they noticed that there were more items than what was on the list. As the move was progressing our driver asked them what all we were picking up from the apartment and the customer first responded with only a few items, like 5 or 6 pieces of furniture. Then a little later in the day the customer stated that their maybe more like 8 or 10 items. Then before our men left the house to head for the apartment the customer said we would be picking up like 10 to 15 items and some boxes. When our men got there and preformed the walk through, there was a fully furnished 1 bed room apartment that they wanted us to move. That is when the driver called our sales manager to explain that all the items would not fit on the truck. Our sales manager then called the customer to explain this to her and she did not respond well to that news. The driver did everything in his power to create more space on the truck so that we could get all of the big heavy items to fit. I told the customer over the phone that they would be responsible for moving any items left over and that since they had more items than what was originally agreed upon, that there would be an increase in price of $600. The customer agreed to the terms and our men got back to work. Thank You, Josh Mastascusa General Manager

Movers took significantly longer than expected and broke my table, my dresser, my tv stand, and there were scratches on my flat screen TV. There was number marks on my walls and corners needed be re-plastered. They refunded a portion of my money but not nearly enough to cover the problems they caused.

{member's name removed} move time went 20 minutes over his quoted estimate. We replaced his dresser with an identical brand-new one for $190. We also sent him a check for $210.00 for any other problems. This amount far exceeded the sixty-cents per pound which is the coverage {member's name removed} chose. Originally was VERY skeptical about using movers again after a horrible experience 5 years ago from a Philadelphia-based company, but knew we could not move of our stuff again without help. The sales consultant was very professional and provided a detailed quote. The 4 men that showed up were awesome in terms of the respect for us and our stuff and moved quickly without issue. Clearly explained what they could and could not do, all which was laid out in the pre-move email, and never tried to charge us for anything extra. Originally told them 8-9 hours, but we decided on 4 hours when they got there, and they still were done in only 3.75 hours. They were quick and efficient. Couldn't ask for a better move. Strongly recommend.

They didn't move all the stuff. They got lost on the way to our house, even though we gave them directions. They ended up on the wrong side of the river. It took them three hours to get to our house. They were very rude. They didn't pack up the truck properly; they just threw things in the truck. They only moved a few heavy items and then wouldn't do the rest. We agreed on a price beforehand, and they then said didn't cover the whole move. They broke stuff and then said they weren't responsible for the damages. My husband had to help them, because they said they couldn't do it by themselves.

While it is regrettable that the above member had such a poor experience with a moving service, we have no record of moving the above named member. We have looked at our schedule for November 17th, 2014 and can confirm that we did not have any scheduled moves in the area that is listed above. We also checked the days prior to and the days after the stated service date and, also, there were no scheduled moves in the area associated with the above mentioned address. In addition, we have also checked our GPS tracking system that locates each of our trucks and the routes they take on daily basis, and we have no account of trucks being in the area of [Removed] It is important to note that, per the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, registered movers in Pennsylvania cannot give guaranteed prices on local moves. The member’s statement that we agreed on a price would not be permitted as we can only give estimates, not binding prices. Consumers should take note that there have been multiple occurrences in the past of non-registered movers fraudulently using the name Two Men and a Truck on the internet. We believe that to be the case in this instance. While we do everything in our power to prevent this, some of the offenders slip through the cracks, and unfortunately, people get taken advantage of. Also, when Googleing “moving in Pittsburgh,” local licensed companies, put “TWO MEN AND TRUCK” in their listings, and customers are misled. Dorothy Coll, President TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Pittsburgh

I was very pleased with the service from Two Men. The person I spoke with on the phone was very detailed in taking inventory to get an estimate of moving cost, she did over quote based on time knowing it would probably take less time to do the move so the charges on the day of were not unexpected (initially quoted $1200-1300) As for the move itself; Jack, Andrew, and Doug did a great job. I received a courtesy call to alert me of their transit time. They were courteous and professional but also knew how to engage customers. They were efficient in moving our stuff and were careful with fragile items. The only item to suffer any damage was the glass on a cheap Ikea frame. Would happily use the service again, and would recommend the team of 3 guys who moved us.

The move was a C overall until the piano fell. We had 2 men and a truck move twice. Both times the guys scratched furniture, broke bottoms off of legs, etc. and never informed us of it. They did come out to repair the leg and the scratched furniture.

Regarding the piano, we were in contact with [Member name removed] and got a crew to the house within 36 hour of the issue being called to our attention. Upon inspection of the piano, it was on sliders and the [Member name removed]’s had attempted moving the piano, our crew verified that the leg was on correctly, but a wedge was loose. This problem could have been caused by sliding the piano. Attempting to slide a heavy grand piano is extremely dangerous and can damage the legs of the piano. Fortunately, the legs did not break. Before leaving, our men made sure the leg was on correctly and everything was tightened and the piano was in place where [Member name removed] wanted it. As far as the damages from the previous move, the movers did not notice these the day of the move. This is why we give a grace period for the customer to call in with claims they may have noticed. Once [Member name removed] called in regarding those claims, we had a repair vendor out there, and the items were fixed promptly and to the [Member name removed]’s satisfaction. When I hired them I was told there would be a crew of 4 men who would be moving my belongings and a truck large enough to hold all of my things and it would take 6 hours from beginning to end. On the day of the move 3 men showed up 2 hrs. late the truck appeared too small to hold all of my things and when I mentioned it to them they said "no" it would hold everything. One of them had just been hired and knew nothing about the business but they told me he was the boss. He presented me with a two page contract and asked me to sign it. He then joined the other two men in loading my belongings on the truck. As they were loading the truck the "boss" began tried to move two dollies of furniture at once, I mentioned to him that the second dolly was not loaded right and one leg of my jelly cabinet was not on the dolly. He ignored me and tried to roll them both down the ramp from my basement at which time of course the jelly cabinet fell off the dolly and broke. He told me don't worry the company will replace or repair it and handed me a form stating that.very thing. By this time the truck was jam packed and there were still many things that were supposed to be moved not in it. Twenty minutes later three very fast talking and rude men showed up each claiming to be the boss when speaking to me and handed me a packet of papers stating that "Two Men and a Truck" would not repair or replace any glass, or personal belongings that they damaged and wanted me to sign off on it. The first man that presented it to me tried to intimidate me into signing it and said if I did not they would not be able to unload my furniture. I refused to sign as they were just picking up two curio cabinets to move and I did not want to see them broken and not replaced. Then on of the other men came and tried to coax me into signing the papers and when I wouldn't tried flirting with me to get me to sign. I still refused to sign away their liability. They finally stopped nagging me and all 7 of them loaded the truck for a half hour repacking the truck and shoving things into it even cans of paint that were not supposed to be moved. The entire move took 12 hours. Paint was spilled over a few boxes and some of my belongings were ruined, my jelly cabinet was not replaced and when I tried to contact them I was put on hold and left there repeatedly. I will never use this company again and will warn all of my friends and family about them. Beware!

We had shopped movers and found Two Men and a Truck to best fit our needs. They moved all large pieces in 3 bedroom home to new property 20 miles away. The initial meeting for an on site quote went smoothly. The gentleman was on time and answered all of my questions without hesitation. They will take apart and reassemble beds which was not included with the others we got quotes from. On the day of the move the 4 gentleman were prompt , courteous and quick. I was so relaxed that I actually went about my business since they seemed to have everything under control. It was raining and all of my furniture was shrink wrapped and protected from the elements. My husband was at the new property to meet them, and by the time I arrived they had unloaded a good deal of the furniture. They asked exactly where I wanted pieces placed so there was no moving things around once they left. I felt it was well worth the price for the service we were provided and would definitely recommend!

They kept moving the time for showing up to make move. The men that moved were nice, however, they left part of the bed frame at the original house in the grass and they could not put the bed back together without itw We had to go back and get the missing piece. When we put the bed together ourselves - we saw the damage that was done to the mattress. There were splinters imbedded into the mattress from the floor of the truck. On the rare occasion we received a return call it was from a cleaner and when he was told what was wrong he said could not fix the splinters. Solomon was supposed to come look at damage and after waiting at home for hours and many phone calls he never came because he went out on other company business. No one else has ever returned s phone call. They say someone will call back and no one EVER does. I have moved several times and this is the ONLY time I have had any trouble. This was a horrible experience.

Darrell and his team, Jackie and Mark were excellent. They showed up at the agreed time and got straight down to business. Worked really hard and had us moved and into our new home in less than 4 hours. They were beyond polite and professional and went above and beyond to make the move as smooth as possible. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone. I should also state that the office was very helpful and professional in their follow up and contact. The young lady on the phone estimated that my entire move should be in the $800 range and it was pretty much bang on!!! Thanks so much!!!

I hired them to move furniture only, more than half of which are antiques that can't be replaced, from a 2 bedroom house in WV to our new house in Pittsburgh. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate and the estimator was very prompt and professional. He explained everything and answered questions. I hired them because up to this point, they were better than their competition. The movers were also on time, very nice, etc., but they were only average as far as skill. I have seen and hired better movers in the past. They did things like use my desk as a surface to wrap up the shelves to my book cases which resulted in scratches in the finish of my desk. I don't expect things to be perfect, it is a move after all and scratches appear here and there. I'm just saying that these are professional movers and should be extremely proficient in taking care of your belongings. For the most part, everything made it to the new house undamaged. As you read below, keep in mind that I did purchase extra insurance through Two Men and a Truck. I have attached the email chain between me and Two Men and a Truck regarding damaged property in Photos because there wasn't enough room in this review to paste it in. I did go from very nice to demanding but after so many weeks I had had enough. The mirror (original glass) to my 1870's dresser was shattered during transport. They filled out a damage report and said that they would take it back and have the mirror glass replaced and it would only take a few days. After a week and a half of calling, I finally got to talk to John Lettrich (Operations Manager) about it. He needed me to describe the mirror because he had 3 there and he did not know which was mine. In other words, he did nothing with it but set it among other broken junk. He said that because it was probably a special cut, it had to be taken to a different shop and could not give me a time frame to completion. John never could give me an estimated date that my mirror would be returned; he just said that "he was on the shop's timeline". I told him to call the shop and get an estimated time frame, but he never did. After nearly 4 weeks of calling, getting voice mail, no one returning calls until I had to demand to speak to John, I emailed the Pittsburgh Franchise owners, Dottie and Ray Coll. Josh called me (very nice guy) a few hours later and said that the mirror had just come in that day and we scheduled a date/time to deliver it. I do find it a very odd coincidence that the mirror happened to show up the same day as my email went out. They were supposed to deliver it on Saturday between 9 and 10AM. I called at 10:30 to ask why no one has delivered it and was told that I was not on the schedule. I let them know that this did not make me happy. Half hour later, they show up with it. I did get a little rude with John because he was not doing his job. All he had to do was keep me informed as to how long the mirror would take to fix and I would have remained calm. They also damaged my LG front loader washer significantly. The door is VERY scratched; there are gouges in the paint down to the metal and it now leaks. After a week and a half, they finally ordered a door. The dryer is mostly scratch free, btw. The basement stairs are tight, but we could have removed the doors on the machines to make it easier. The movers REFUSED to put this damaged on the damage report because it would count against them! When I talked to John about my mirror, I asked about the door. He said that he ordered it and the wrong part came in and he would have to reorder it. Over 4 weeks after the move, I get a call from Perla's Appliance who said they were hired by Two Men to replace my washer door. They asked for the model number of my washer and said they would order the part and would call to schedule a time to install it. This means that John LIED about ordering the part and the wrong one came in. In reality, he did NOTHING! I allowed another two weeks to pass, during which time I heard nothing from them, and then I emailed John, Dotti and the officers of the company. I found that I was ignored unless I copied people how matter on my emails. I got the same story that the part was ordered and they will call when it is in. It does not take weeks for a part to come in after you order it! I allowed another two weeks to pass and then I threatened with a report to the Better Business Bureau and/or legal action. John wrote back and basically blamed me for the situation. Apparently Perla's called and left messages and were waiting to hear from me. I received no calls or voicemails from them. I called Perla's and scheduled a time/date to have the part installed. One should not have to spend as much time and energy trying to get things fixed as I did. Yes, things get broken sometimes, but do the right thing and fix them, especially when the customer purchased extra insurance. It certainly should not take 2 months to fix a washer! I'm sure that if I did nothing, they would have forgotten all about me.
Description of Work: Used this company twice; both times on the same weekend. Once to move a few pieces of furniture from an apartment to our new house a few miles away and once to move furniture from a 2 bedroom house in WV to our new house in Pittsburgh. Their motto is "Movers who care". That could not be further from the truth. Read my story below, but the take away is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you value your possessions!! You're better off getting a case of beer and a pizza to bribe your friends to move you.

We have no record of [member name removed]; however, [member name removed] has the same address and has been corresponding concerning this move. All repairs were made in a timely fashion. We sent his mirror to a specialty company in Canton, OH, to be repaired. Typically, this takes 6 to 8 weeks. I think [member name removed] is pleased with the workmanship. The appliance company sent the wrong door for his washing machine. We reordered, and to save time, we asked the appliance company to contact [member name removed] directly. Dragged furniture and broke one piece. We have relocated many times during 30 years. The movers always have been careful to lift up furniture and lower it into place. For Two Men and a Truck, one crew member kept pushing / dragging furniture. He needed to be reminded by another crew member to pick things up. When they carted the last item of furniture into storage, I saw a palm-size piece of wood broken off the bottom end of my wife's dresser. Since the dresser been fine when they left the house, I told them that piece must be on the truck. They then produced the broken piece from a box on the truck into which they had thrown it. They had clearly known they had broken it and weren't going to tell me! In this case, it was clear that the dresser had been tilted up at an angle and dragged (managing to bypass its own glide), as they had also managed to pull some veneer away from the rest of the dresser bottom. That dresser had been moved by professional movers three times in the past without incident. It was part of a custom bedroom suite we had special-ordered over twenty years ago, and which we ourselves often moved across the floor when cleaning. However, because it had a particle board substrate, the dresser was excluded from liability, and the supervisor told me there was no point in his filing a damage claim. This move cost us our bedroom suite.

Cody and Gary were great. They called while in route and once they got there I showed them what all had to be moved. They were both courteous and were very fast and efficient. This was an emotional day for them after living in this house for 40 years. All furniture was wrapped to prevent any damage. Once they got to the new address they were very respectful of the residents there and moved all the boxes and furniture into their new apartment. They both did a great job. They completed this job within an hour and a half, and that included driving time. I knew when I had called them that it was a 2 hour min. and that was OK with us. They do follow up with emails and confirm dates and times. I had used Two Men and a Truck 2 times before when I lived in Ohio. Everything has gone well when using this moving service. I highly recommend them

This team was excellent -- Kevin, Conor, Chris and Rodney. They seemed young, but worked smoothly and professionally, with good attitude and technique. I had several large pieces that they moved down a narrow staircase, particularly a large, heavy desk that I nicknamed The Beast. There were no problems. Everything was explained, everything inspected, everything done efficiently. A really pleasant surprise. My highest recommendation!

The service was beyond horrible. Their manager had to give a discount on the move because it was so bad.

The crew was great, right on time and acted very professionally. The lead guy took the time to explain all of the paperwork as well as the process, and the entire crew handled our stuff with great care. They put one of the beds back together the wrong way, but anyone could have made that error as it was a bit tricky (only took us 10 minutes to fix that one... no biggie). Overall we were very happy with the service and the price, and would definitely use them again.

They were fantastic. They were phenomenal. I've moved a lot of times and I had a lot of movers but I am super impressed with them. When they answered the phone, the man was very articulate and professional. I got a contract emailed to me. As soon as we got off the phone, everything was spelled out, they were absolutely prompt. They were very concerned about making mark; there was nothing on the furniture. They were super professional, nice and wonderful.
Description of Work: I used the moving service of Two Men And A Truck. They moved furniture within the house. We switched two rooms around; we had some heavy pieces that had to be moved upstairs and downstairs.

Response from Two Men And A Truck
The work was completed October 4, 2013 not April 10, 2014. The original estimate given to [Member name removed] was $1,500.00. The original move was scheduled for 8 hours. Our crew spent 4.25 hours on the move. The customer paid $891.39 for the move. The customer saved over $600.00. I have reached out to [Member name removed] via an Angie’s List reply, he has not responded. Ray Coll Vice President TWO MEN AND A TRUCK

My daughter and I there were four of them because I have some heavy furniture and I absolutely fell in love with the four guys that were here. The four of them and two of us hugged each other twice before they got after the work. If we had planned ahead and known this we would have had them for dinner. They were young men and they took great care of the furniture. They wrapped every single piece in cloth and tapped it and there was not one thing that was scratched or damaged. They even removed a part of plant for me that I couldn’t pick up. We could not say enough good things about them and wish that we could be friends with them. We just had a wonderful time with them. They told us that we were the nicest people that they had ever moved. They had to work for an extra hour which they didn’t charge us for. The move was just a short distance but they came in, packed everything up in the apartment and we just sat and watched. It was a lot of furniture as it was a 24’ truck. They wrapped all the stuff up which was a ground level and then brought it over here where they had to go over steps. They were professional, friendly and very careful with everything that they handled. As far as they antique they asked me as they wanted to know about them. They were very professional but absolutely nice people. Mike was the leader and the guys that worked for him was Garrett, Kevin and then TC as that’s what he told us to call him. We did not have one single thing to say about them including the price. There was a lot of old heavy furniture and they just dragged them up the steps. Then one thing that they brought up here, we didn’t like up here as it was too big and they took it back downstairs for us.
