We are a small HVAC business in the South Hills area. All of my employees have degrees and are certified HVAC Techs and are my employees not subcontractors. We are fully licensed and insured and are a registered contractor with the Attorney Generals office. We offer no gimmicks and extremely affordable prices.

Description of Work: I bought the Angie's list deal for a furnace insurrection and cleaning. They responded quickly to schedule the service. The technician was professional and very thorough in completing the job. He was very honest and did not try to sell me work that I did not need. I would definitely call them again.

Description of Work: they refilled our coolant, and used a dye to test for leaks at a future date. They did EXCEPTIONAL work, and I would highly recommend them for anyone!

Description of Work: Ted installed a furnace at my home in Dormont, and when I moved to West Homestead I called him to check the furnace in the new house. He changed the thermostat for me because it wasn't working properly. His fees are competitive and his work is excellent.

He comes out whenever it needs cleaned and we request him; he gets here quickly. We had an issue one time and Ted came out himself to make sure everything was fine and that his customers were happy. He is your neighborhood guy; he doesn’t try to impress you and he doesn’t try to steamroll you.

Ted's people did a great job. Prompt, friendly, and informative. Price was good. Ted was helpful with rebates, etc. We originally wanted a larger system but Ted explained (patiently) why we did need to spend so much. We went with Ted's recommendations and everything is great.

During the blizzard on 2/6/2010, my power went out for 4 days (no electricity or heat). When the power came back on, the furnace did not. I called Ted Thompson and they sent a repairman out. (I believe his name was Jason, who looked very young to me). He checked the furnace, made a phone call and proceeded to tell me I needed a new furnace at a cost of $1,200.00. His bill stated, "roll out switches tripped---heat exchanger is clogged or cracked----furnace needs replaced" He was "VERY" eager to send a representative to put a furnace in "IMMEDIATELY" that day. I had someone else come out and fix it for the cost of a $25 part.

Dear Member, We are very sorry that you were so dissatisfied with our company and we apologize for the extremely late response. We had no idea this review even exisited. From your review I feel as though there was a misunderstanding on what took place. When my serviceman Rob (Blessed with young looks, but actually in his 40's, very experienced, has a degree and has worked for us for over 10 years) checked your furnace he found the roll out switch tripped. Upon further investigation he found the reason that it was tripped to be due to the heat exchanger being clogged or cracked. When we find that, our recommendation is always to either have the furnace or heat exchanger replaced. When the Heat Exchanger is clogged or cracked it can produce Carbon Monoxide and it is dangerous. We never stated that it couldn't be fixed, we were stating that it shouldn't be fixed, it should be replaced. I'm very sorry if you felt like I was trying to take advantage or pressure you. I was most concerned about getting you heat since it was a blizzard and adding frozen pipes to the list can be quite the disaster. Also it wasn't under regular circumstances, if you wanted it done that day the decision had to be made quickly. We already had a job that day that I was willing to reschedule it since the customer of the job had heat and was just upgrading. Unfortunately, a decision had to be made quickly. You chose another route and I respected that. I even voided the $99.00 service call when you expressed your dissatisfaction. And also if you shopped around, $1200 is a very very reasonable price for a new furnace. It's not that uncommon in our line of work that you will find different oppinions. I have no problem sending my employees back to show any other company their findings. I've done it many times free of charge. I'm not discrediting any other company, I can only speak for my techs. I have spent a lot of time and money keeping them and myself educated and trained over the years and in the present. There is always something new to learn and we try and keep up with technology as best as we can. And also I'd like to mention that I do not pay my men commission for selling anything. There is absolutely no incentive for them to sell anything. I do this because I have spent over 20 years building my name and priding myself on being honest and I refuse to let anyone representing my name be any different. I hold all of my employees to a very high standard. I am not on every job, so I can't control everything but I am always willing to rectify anything for my customers. Again, I am very sorry that you were so unsatisfied and felt taken advantage of and for not noticing this earlier and I hope this has cleared any misconceptions about me or my company or my intent. The serviceman called when he was delayed, then arrived as scheduled. He very professionally did his job, inside and outside the house.
Description of Work: Our whole house A/C system had failed twice in the summer of 2007 because of leaking freon. I wanted a new company to service it for the summer of 2008. A service tech checked it out, added freon, and also added a dye to pinpoint the source if we had another freon leak. (The previous company had not used dye, and wanted to dig up the garden to find the leak). As of July 26, the A/C is working fine.

They worked very well. Did a great job. The price was great, the people that installed knew their stuff and were very polite.

After contacting Ted Thomspon and not wanting to pay exorbitant amount of money for a late night call, we decided we thought we'd be able to keep warm throughout the night. Ted assured us that they'd be out 1st thing in the morning with a new motor to fix the furnace. We've used their company and services before, so we left a key so they could enter the house without us at home. They arrived, as promised and fixed the problem.
Description of Work: Furnace motor and wheel broke at 8pm as the temperatures fell outside. Furnace was inoperable and there was no heat.

Ted's team showed up early (8:30 vs. 9:00) which allowed me to get to work on time. They were polite and friendly. Ted's estimate was very reasonable. Ted was incredibly professional and went the extra mile during the estimate.
Description of Work: Ted Thompson replaced a furnace with a broken heat exchange. He recommended a more efficient furnace and programmable thermostat. He was professional, efficient and a great communicator.
