South Hills electric called our house asking if they could arrive earlier than their appointment time. As my wife was at home, this did not seem to be an issue. They arrived promptly at the new time and asked about the history of the house. They were courteous and took off their boots when going through the house, something most contractors do not do. They made sure they showed my wife what they were looking at and why it was important. They spent approximately a half hour to complete the inspection. They then provided two different maintenance options and one replacement option. They were very insistent that our system only required some maintenance and the replacement would be a luxury and not a necessity. They also provided estimated time frames for the remaining useful life of the unit. Overall we are exceptionally impressed by the service we received and the level of expertise exhibited by the crew.

Justin came to do tune-up. I explained that the pipe would freeze over and he said that he would look at that also. My unit is quite old but told me that would like to get at least 2 more years out of it. He went over all and showed me how the levels should be and they were pretty bad. He worked on it we put some parts in it and he cleaned the machine so well looks brand new. He then had me come out while he checked the levels again and they were right were he wanted them to be. My unit works so good now that we have to keep the temperature at 76 degrees cause any lower it is really cold in my house. I would recommend South Hills Electric Heating and Cooling to anyone!!! And I would use them again. It helps when things are explained to customer (even if he had to dumb it down for me), this way you know exactly what was done. Price was a little high, BUT in order to keep running up to speed and not having to buy a complete new one, was worth it and parts guaranteed for a year.

Justin and his partner were very professional. They immediately set to work to determine the condition of my unit. I am confined to a wheelchair right now and Justin took a series of pictures on his cell phone to show me what the meter readings were (showing how hard the unit was working), the inside of the unit, etc. What a blessing that was! Fortunately, all the parts are still in good working condition and all that was required was an acid wash to improve the efficiency of the unit. I was highly impressed with the service. I felt comfortable in that there was no pressure to buy something that I did not need. I had been contemplating replacing my electrical panel and associated components and I have to say that the experience I had with Justin of South Hills Electric was so refreshing I immediately scheduled the work to be done for the electrical panel replacement. I would not hesitate to hire this company in the future and will highly recommend them to others that may be in need of their services. Bravo South Hills Electric!!!

He checked to make sure everything was reading at the right levels and let me see the before and after readings once the cleaning was done. He determined what parts were working correctly and which part was in need of replacing and why. I was very happy with the service and his going through everything with me. Great job!!

All went very well. The technician checked my outside drainage tube and found it was in the wrong position and fixed it.

South Hills were very promt, and very nice to me. They were very funny, and I had no concerns welcoming them into my home. They made it so the humidifier was much more accessable, and went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied. Due to the professionalism of South Hill, I purchased additional servicse from them while they were in my home. I would recommend South Hills to anyone looking for heating/cooling work.

Everything was satisfactory. At the technician's recommendation, we bought and paid for a part that would need to be replaced in the near future. We inquired about a digital thermostat to replace our old one and had it installed.

Justin went above and beyond and stepped me through every test and inspection he performed. He told me what to expect on the gauges before he hooked the unit up to be tested, showing me that my unit was not functioning optimally. He quickly found the faulty area and fixed it with obvious expertise and knowledge, explaining what he was doing every step of the way. I couldn't be more satisfied with his work and professionalism.

The company called us to schedule the appointment as we had purchased the Big Deal from Angie's List. That was a super nice feature. The technicians arrived promptly when scheduled and cleaned & checked the AC unit. It was found that a part needed to be replaced and instead of $19.99 the total was $250.00 plus the Big Deal cost. The next day when we ran the unit we heard the fan making noise. My husband called & an appt was scheduled for the next day. At some point the noise stopped & we cancelled the appt. this was all handled by e-mail which I like. They were prompt efficient & accommodating . I will use them again.

The team of two workmen were pleasant and efficient, going about their check-up of my system.

Went pretty well. Made recommendations for cleaning the device so that it would last longer. Also gave information about the cost for replacing the device (over 14 years old).

Jason called and confirmed the appointment, then later called again to say that they could do the job earlier. When they arrived both Jason and Jay were very friendly and professional. At the end of the install, there was an issue with the connectors for the water line. Jason apologized several times and eventually had to offer to come back at my convenience. An hour or so after they left, he called back and said he had another job in our area and could come over and finish the job. He arrived on time and 15 minutes or so later the job was finished. He was professional throughout the entire process. I would use this company again , and specifically ask for Jason

I had them do an air conditioning check on my furnace which was installed in 2000 and hasn't been serviced since I bought the house in 2008. They found that the contactor needed to be replaced and the condenser was clogged. They replaced the contractor and cleaned the condenser coil and the AC is working better than ever. They gave me a 1 year guarantee on the AC (less the compressor). They arrived on time and were very professional. The completed the work quickly and explained everything to me thoroughly. Even though I ended up spending more than I expected, I feel I got a reasonable price and the work actually was needed. I can't complain since I haven't done the suggested preventive maintenance in 5 years.

I came home on Friday night at 5:00 to find that my house was without heat. I looked on Angies list to find a contractor with strong ratings and good reviews, and decided to give South Hills the opportunity. The service was prompt and professional. My heat was restored within an hour of the technician arriving.

I hired SH to fix the same problem last December (my hot surface ignitor on my 2003 Smith boiler malfunctioned), which they did fix then, but the part they replaced the original hot surface ignitor with stopped working last evening (almost exactly within one year). I called them and a service technician arrived within 1.5 hours. They told me that the part they had installed a 30 day warranty, and it would be $89 for coming out and diagnosing the problem and another $350 to replace the part. I did not have the part, so I agreed to have them fix the part (that they replaced less than a year before that malfunctioned). Then when I saw the box it came in, I looked it up on Amazon.com and the part cost $20. So they have charged me $900 over the last year for $40 in parts plus less than one hour in labor. I have ordered three of these so I do not need them to replace their own parts again. Needless to say, they did not offer me a discount on this service call. They did say that they would try to come up with some kind of replacement for the system (which presumably I will then again have to pay dearly for).

These guys were great, EXCEPT that at the end of job, they asked if they could put a sticker with their phone number in my basement. I consented, thinking this meant a smallish sticker on the breaker box in garage. BUT NO, they plastered large stickers on the electrical box, the hot water heater, and the furnace. The stickers were large enough to display not only the company name and phone number, but also a $50 off coupon and other info. They turned my basement into a billboard. It took me 20 minutes to peel them all off, with the help of some turpentine.

They did their job and they did it well. I would rate them overall an A. The pricing seemed fair. I would use them again if needed.

The workers arrived right on time. The electrician and helper were very nice and professional and their work was satisfactory. When I made the appointment I had been told there was a trip charge regardless of the work ($80) but was not told there would be a diagnostic fee ($55) to assess the problem. So after they looked at the outlet, my choices were to pay $275 to install a deeper receptacle box and re-attach the wires to the outlet or pay $135 for no work at all. Good work but very expensive for less than an hour on site.

Arrived promptly, diagnosed old furnace, gave detailed description of the problem. Replaced furnace, staying until 7 p.m. to complete the job. Left site very clean. Made my elderly parents feel very secure.

I called in the morning and was able to get an appointment that afternoon for non-emergency work. The service technician called when he was on his way and arrived on schedule. He was very polite and very helpful. He took the time to answer my questions thoroughly in an easy-to-understand manner. After he was done, he mentioned other services offered by the but did to upsell me on extra services. I was really impressed. I will definitely be using this company for future maintenance or repair work.

The quote was prompt and accurate. The work was on time, efficient and the workers were respectful. Clean up was complete.

My luck, my air conditioner started blowing warm air. I immediately checked the thermostat and it appeared fine so I needed an air conditioning contractor, and fast. The company I chose was South Hills Electric Heating Cooling because they were local and had good reviews. Now I know why. The men were polite and courteous from the initial phone call. I was told the pricing up front for a troubleshooting call and I said, ?How fast can you get here?? The service truck arrived within an hour. Allan was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain in language that I could understand. Turns out the Freon was low and after about 20 minutes I had my cool air and my sanity back. Call this company. They?re PROS.

He was very prompt at returning my call and setting a date & time to look at my problem. He also answered a lot of questions on the phone before I scheduled my appt. THey were detained at previous customer site and tried to reach me but I had already left to go to the other location. We "missed" each other but he called that evening to explain in detail. I'm sure I'll use them at some time when the severe winter demands aren't so heavy. I liked the idea that they stayed with a customer until everything was right before moving on to another address. That could have been me. That's good common sense! I really believe they know what they are doing and will do it right without any shortcuts or other costs bubbling to the top after they start a job.
