This was an old central A/C unit that came with the house we recently purchased. The technician was professional and took pictures of the inside of the unit so we could see what he was referring to. He gave us an estimate of what it would cost to refill the coolant, find any leaks, or outright replace the unit. We gave him the ok to put up stickers, and in retrospect I wish we hadn't. They're big, black-and-white, and he put them on our service panel, furnace, and water heater. (One would have been enough!)

Well, it didn't take him long. But it's the sort of thing that I won't know if it really works unless it doesn't. So far, no fried computer components.

Check up was good. Recommended to replace few things but they are not needed to be replaced in the near future.

Electrician was on time. The company was aware of the 3 projects we needed--an installation of 2 dimmer switches and an installation of a light fixture in our game room. Electrician surveyed the areas and started with the bathroom dimmer installation. We admit as did he, that it was not just a typical installation. After rewiring, he and my husband decided that a dimmer could not go there, so we have no change in the bathroom. Downstairs he went after that, telling us that the the light switch is a 2 pole switch and we did not have the right switch for it. My husband offered to run out and pick up what was needed, but he said that the home owners are not supposed to do that during his time there. Next project was the light fixture. It was a project switching from track lighting to just a single fixture. I was not in the room at the time, but my sister and her son were. Even though I showed him the breaker box at the beginning of his visit, he neglected to turn off the power and created such a light show with sparks flying everywhere. He then said, "I knew that would happen." Electrician came back upstairs and told us that it would take longer than the hour left for the job. He wrote up an estimate of what it would cost if he were to start the job and continue past the Angie's List deal. The estimate was $335.00!! We immediately told him no. He got defensive, stating that that's how much it would cost if it were to be done correctly, with all that was involved, and that he had to follow the rules of the company when installing. He also stated that that's the problem when people buy these Angie's List deals- they don't know how much time it takes to get jobs done. There were problems with this company and electrician from the beginning. We hired him to survey the projects. If he knew that the light fixture would take the longest ,start there and tell us. I told him that we just had Hallas Electric out for the same job and that electrician finished and had time to spare looking about. Our fault for steering him toward the bathroom light since we thought that needed attention first. Would never have them back. We only had him stay the hour instead of the two hours. He rewired our bathroom light back to original. He did not install dimmer in game room since we did not have a 3 way dimmer switch, and we did not get our light fixture installed. So we paid $111.00 for one switch and a light show that could have sparked a fire in my game room. Totally dissatisfied.

The price was outrageous and the customer service was lousy. if you want to spend unnecessary money then that is definitely the right place to call. Definitely not budget friendly. Needless to say I will not be using them ever or recommending them.

It went really well. Justin was very professional and showed us what he was doing at each step. He was also very nice. He was very punctual-even early. We signed a service agreement with them.

The technician was very competent and professional, providing all information relative to my existing system and what it would entail both in cost and labor to attempt to fully find the exact leak and what options would be available to restore it to full performance. He also went over a recommended replacement for my system. I am very satisfied with the service and information provided and would recommend this company very highly.

Checked a/c--low on refrigerant. Showed me how it should work, added refrigerant and showed me the changed results. Also gave detailed estimate with price if this is not the ultimate problem and subsequent work must be undertaken.

They were friendly and knowledgeable. If our AC was to go we would definitely call them in to get quotes on the work to replace the unit.

There were three plugs that were not working on my third floor resulting in me not being able to use my air conditioner. The work was done to its completion including checking three floors, basement and attic to locate the issue until the problem was found and complete fixed. plug was upgraded in the kitchen from two to three prong plug.

Very professional and high quality work.

Justin was very polite and called to let me know when he would be here. He arrived within 3 minutes of that time. He is very professional and finished the work efficiently and well. He did not try to sell us anything additional although when asked, he did give us an estimate on a new A/C unit. Ours is 19 years old! I would definitely recommend Justin and his company to anyone that asked.

Justin really cares about his customers, and came to our home several times during the process to try and keep things cool and running while parts and pieces were on order. We waited rather long for a part initially but once we worked that out, things went smoothly and we were very satisfied with the end result. I wasn't really looking to spend so much, but it had become evident over the past few years that this needed to happen sooner or later, so we bit the bullet and opted for sooner. I am not sure you could find a more caring or conscientious provider... Justin worked tirelessly and well into the evening on two occasions throughout this process, always with the attitude of "happy to be here". He had to be exhausted and longing to get home but he takes incredible pride in his work and insisted on making our house temp comfortable, for which we were very grateful. On a side note, while both my husband and I were here throughout most of the install, single female or elderly customers should feel completely comfortable working with Justin with no other "big strong men" around to monitor the process. I think sometimes it is a bit scary to invite a male stranger into your home when you are alone and while you hope for the best, you don't always get the best. In THIS case, Justin is completely "non-creepy" and safe... don't hesitate to ask for him as he is an upstanding person who will pose no threat nor will he make you feel uneasy about having him roaming all over your home to do the work. We would call this provider again without hesitation.

It was fine. I didn't incur charges aside from the big deal purchase. I would use them again in the future.

Bob came on time was professional and very pleasant. He made helpful suggestions to save us money.

They asked what day I preferred, then made an appointment for that day. Confirmed with an e-mail and then sent a reminder e-,mail prior to the appointment. Called while on their way to the appointment. Performed all of the work requested at the agreed price. I am not used to contractors being so responsive or using technology like the rest of the world.

DO NOT USE!!! Worst SERVICE of my life. On 06/22/2013 I had a ceiling fan catch fire in my kitchen. No structural damage. Electrical damage. Fire department responded to my call to make sure fan was not smoldering in the ceiling. Fire department cut main power to house my switching off the main breaker in order to remove the burnt ceiling fan. Once complete the fire department restored service to my home via switching the main circuit breaker back on. When that occurred, I only had power to some of my rooms in my home. The fire department recommended leaving the electric off until I have an electrician come in and check everything out. I was not calling an electrician over the weekend for an emergency fee. I telephoned 4 different electricians on Monday. One referred me to someone else. Two did not answer there phone. One was a recording. I finally found this place close to wear I live in the phone book. I called and spoke with Adam the owner. He stated that his company could provide the service I needed. I was informed of a $55 half hour diagnostic fee. I was not informed of a trip fee of $80. Adam reported he would call me back with a technicians name and time of arrival. That DID NOT occur. The technician arrived and was very annoyed in posture and tone. He did not introduce himself nor his "helper" Jay. I saw the company van parked outside and knew this was the electrician. technician and helper did not cover their feet. tracked dirt inside my home. I explained to the technician the events and what needs checked. My breaker box is in my garage. technician returned from garage to tell me that my electric is working because my central air kicked on. Technician looked at me as though I was stupid and bothering him. I informed the tech that I knew this, I still has no power in half the house. I had to point out no power to TV, Phone, lights, refrigerator. He then went back down stairs and "checked the breakers" and found a bad breaker. The fee was astronomical. So either I pay him to complete the service or I was still out an $80 trip fee and $55 diagnostic fee. I agreed to the work. the $80 trip fee was dropped. I had extension cords running from my neighbors house for my fridge and freezer for going on 3 days now. I felt bad and did not want to go without full electricity any longer. I was afraid to turn on the electric until it was properly checked. Work was completed. I had asked the technician to look at a ceiling fan that was not working. He told me, "it is 3 o'clock in the afternoon and he is not getting into that." I telephoned Adam the next morning. I explained to Adam his technician's behavior and how he wasn't even in my home for a full half hour. Adam replied a minimum half hour fee. I asked about the steep pricing for replacing a breaker. He replied, "Standard fee. They has a chart. " I did not see any chart. Adam stated that I called for an emergency and Duquesne light was at my home. I told Adam that I di dot call for emergency service nor was Duquesne Light at my home. the fire department recommended not to turn electric on until it was properly checked. 'Why did he assume Duquesne light was at my home and cut my power?' this did not happen. I told Adam about technician not checking another fan. Adam repeated several times that the fire department was at my home and this constitutes and emergency. I said, I am the customer, I did not call for an emergency this happened several days ago. Also during the night my power went out again. I had to flip breakers to reset. Why is this happening? I am running the same things as previous. Adam said I was hostile on the phone and hung up. Needless to say, I was not hostile. I got no where. This company is not out to help people.

I recently took advantage of an Angie's List offering for an A/C System Precision Tune-up issued by South Hills Electric. The tune-up as I purchased was totally satisfactory in every way, HOWEVER, I feel that I should relate the following. During the inspection of the exterior compressor the technician brought to my attention a compacitor which was seeping oil. I worked in the electronic industry for 20 years and although the system was fully functional I expected the added cost at that point would be nominal. So to avoid possible future failure, just change it. The additional labor involved required moving 3 plug on wires from the old cap to the new with the cost of the new cap how much could the additional cost be? I was shocked! The price to move the 3 plug on wires to the new capacitor was $276.50. Needless to say I declined the service. I purchased the new capacitor for $36.00 and some change and starting from scratch in less than 30 minutes the repair was complete. $37.00 and total of 30 minutes versus $276.50 In my opinion, this is not ethical.

The initial installation did not go well, and I contacted the owner regarding the issues-a light not centered above the bathroom sink and an unfinished install on the bathroom ceiling light. The owner sent the lead electrician, Kevin, out, who centered the light above the bathroom sink and finished the ceiling light install. I do not see any value, at this point, in detailing the prior deficiencies, as I reviewed them with the owner, and they are now corrected. I think it far more important to note that the owner and the lead electrician took my concerns seriously, and addressed them appropriately. Sometimes things don't go as anticipated, and how they are handled at that point says far more for professionalism than any checklist. Kevin called shortly before the scheduled time to advise he was on his way, arrived on time, removed his shoes at the door (it was a rainy day), reviewed the work needed, and completed it within the allotted time. Kevin explained what he was doing, including ensuring that I understood the electrical code requirements so that I knew the installation not only looked good but was in conformity with safety requirements. Kevin was also personable and pleasant to deal with. He cleaned up when done and left the bathroom clean and free of debris. I am well satisfied with the work, how the problems were handled, and the final outcome, and believe that is the key to rating the overall experience. The company has demonstrated that they deserve the best rating in all the areas. I will use them for future needs, and am happy to recommend them.

I have used this contractor twice. Last year during the heat wave a serviceman came to check my air conditioner. He was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my a/c was functioning correctly but under sized for my home. He did quote replacement costs at the time of service. I decided to move forward with replacement this year. Once again my phone call was answered promptly, courteously. The service man called first thing the next day, arrived on time, reviewed three options for replacement with written estimate which we discussed at length. The following day my new system was installed. The men wore shoe covers indoors, used drop clothes when carry items in and out of the house. I received a full review of literature for thermostat operation, furnace shut-off, a/c shut-off. The men worked quietly together. They cleaned up and were gone. I highly recommend South Hills Electric and will use them for any future needs.

Did not go with provider because they stated that they did not accept the provided angies list coupon.

The guys from South Hills Electric did the most amazingly professional job on my HVAC replacement, and Justin was really, really easy to work with. Very forthcoming, very professional, explained everything and the team even cleaned up after themselves beautifully. The deal I got was undoubtedly very fair and I even got an upgrade on my equipment due to supplier short supply, which I'm sure South Hills wangled for me. They arrived a little late, but that was understandable -- traffic was unusually diabolical that morning. They stayed till everything was done, installed my humidifier even though there was barely room and they had to shift some ductwork to do it, and they left my kitchen neater than it was before they arrived! Also, I've never experienced a contractor who not only was comfortable with my consulting a friend who used to be in the business and picking his brain, but encouraged me to invite him over to look at their finished work! I can't say enough good things about them. How often does such a major job go so well? (P.S., my friend who used to be in the business was very impressed with their thoroughness and responsiveness.)

Purchased a Big deal for South Hills Electric Heating & Cooling LLC. We had them install a humidifier. We called to set up appointment and they came out the next week. They showed up before the appointment time. They did a good job and explained everything for the use of the humidifier. Very professional and I am satisfied with the job.

The entire experience was first-rate. The primary installer Justin was punctual professional and extremely knowledgeable. He truly cared about the install and getting us the best service. When there was a slight product defect in the humidistat he came back and replaced it on Memorial Day and also checked toe make sure all connections were working properly. I would highly recommend this company for any future HVAC work. Great experience overall.
