I spoke with them on the phone to schedule the service and they knew my electrical situation and said they could still do the work and they would be able to figure it out. The electrician arrived to do the service and informed me it could not be done. I have requested a refund from Angie's List.

Provider inspected the furnace using a probe with a camera, which was inserted into the heat exchanger. Provider reported seeing a crack in the heat exchanger and stopped the inspection at that point. He was very courteous and professional, and offered a few options to repair/replace. I had another provider come in the following week to look at the furnace. He was more old-school and used tools to physically feel around in the heat exchanger. He reported that what had previously looked like a crack was actually some condensation. He actually put his hands in there and felt around to make sure. So in the end, I didn't have a real issue with South Hills Electric, but maybe a little more could have been done to verify what was seen on their camera.

I do not need service now, but the responded in a timely fashion.

they did a good job and stayed longer than I expected. Did detect an issue with the furnace (legitimate - I smelled something before they came). Gave me options from low to high and did not press me to select the most expensive solution. Will come back to do a thorough cleaning and proceed based on what we find

The guy was suppose to clean and check my furnance. Not sure what he did but what he was suppose to do he didn't. But when he was finished he said I had an issue with my furnance which my furnance is brand new and the cost for the part was 300.00. After he left he forgot to replace my furnance filter. He called and and told me that I should put it back in. Plus he said my filter was dirty, but it wasn't. That type of filter the color is gray. He should have asked first. I will not use their services again!

We found a special deal through Angie's List and set up a service call with South Hills Electric. Ron the technician was able to come out the same day to take a look at the unit. Their responsiveness couldn't be beat; the service call was set up immediately and the technician called both to confirm and to let me know when he was on his way.Ron actually arrived early, was very friendly, and was careful not to track any dirt through our main living spaces. He evaluated the furnace and found that the integrated control module - the motherboard of the furnace - had died. My B grade is specific to two things: selling strategy and furnace pricing. Ron seemed to be working off of some kind of scripted procedure which set me on guard immediately. He went through 3 repair and replacement options, but I really didn't feel get an authentic or honest vibe from him, even though his spiel was pretty straightforward. I simply didn't feel I could trust his evaluation of what we should do. The furnace was 22 years old, so I already knew that it would be best to replace it if there wasn't a cheap fix. Re. the furnace pricing, South Hills Electric is selling an Amana that they say is the best on the market, and it comes with a hefty price tag - $4,000 installed for a 70,000 BTU model (1,300 - 1,500 sq. ft. house approximately). Angie's list has specials for $2,200 - $2,500 for other high efficiency furnaces with similar features and excellent warranties. The technician did offer lower priced alternatives (although we did not go through the specifics), but he made it clear they weren't recommended. Ron left us with paperwork detailing our options, but we decided to select another company to recheck the problem and replace the furnace.

Ron, the technician, was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. He reviewed his findings with me in a "no pressure" manner and answered my questions without a second thought. Best of all, he cleaned up everything where he was working so there was no evidence of his visit beyond stickers on the furnace and water heater.

Emailed us to say we were not part of their service area. We still have not gotten our money back.

The technician got lost and consequently arrived an hour and a half late. Upon his arrival I complained about this luck of punctuality. We began discussing our requirements and came to conclusion that the size of a humidifier which I purchased as Angie?s Big Deal is insufficient. We decided to reschedule the service and go with $150 more expensive, a little bigger unit. Next time the technician arrived precisely on time. He installed everything promptly and properly and at the end charged us only $80 (as opposed to quoted extra $150), as apology for being late. Nice, prompt and competent service. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.

Justin showed up on time, was professional, friendly, thorough, and was very knowledgeable (and as an engineer I challenged him). I would use again in a heartbeat. I'm always skeptical of overly positive ratings, but Justin and South Hills Electric earned it. Best rating I've ever handed out on Angie's List.

It went "quickly." Estimate of time was 3 hours. Took about an hour. Not sure all outlets, etc. inspected thoroughly. Two techs involved. One clearly inexperienced, marginal communication skills although both polite. Labeling could have been better worded (i.e. clearer) and neater (crookedly applied).

The company is outside of my service area. I would give them an "A". I would use them if they were in my service area.

The humidifer works very well on the furnace. I have noticed a big difference in the air inside the house. Also, there's no static electricity when you walk across the carpet. Not getting shocked is always a good thing!

Worker misdiagnosed the problem by stating the wind had blown the pilot light out. The relit pilot light extinguished as soon as the house temperature reached thermostat setting. When in fact after another service call by another provider found rust in the gas line (the gas supply was being limited by a blockage in the burner orifice ). Once cleared the furnace operated normally. The repair technician from South Hills Electric insisted I needed a new furnace.

Although not the cheapest quote we received for these services, it was still quite reasonable. The big difference was the no-interest financing for one year that we received along with the service, making it much more affordable than even the cheaper quote. The work was performed exactly as described and exactly as quoted. The boiler was exactly what was described and the moving of the radiator and pipes were exactly the way we asked for and exactly the way they promised. The technicians were extremely nice and very efficient. They cleaned up everything after they were done. Most of the work was performed in one day from about 9am to 7pm, and then they came back the 2nd day to finish the work. We were very happy with their service and would definitely recommend them to others.

Excellent, it makes a huge difference in the comfort of my home in winter. I was able to turn down the thermostat 2 degrees and still feel really comfortable

I had seen a deal on Angie's list for a electrical panel upgrade for $849 so I called them, and they had a guy come and give me an estimate. When he came, he said I the price for the Angie's list deal was for the electrical panel only. He gave me a quote to do all of the work including replacing the main service line outside for about $2100. I told him I didn't want that and he said okay, and he wrote me another quote just to replace the panel for $849. I called the company to schedule the work and they told me I couldn't have it done without doing ALL the upgrades and paying $2100. Why did their employee tell me I could and write me a quote for that? Waste of time.

It went very good. I had no problems . They were also very honest about the problem I had.

They weren't pushy, he encouraged me to go get other quotes. They were great. I have had no problems.

Justin was fantastic! Called on 11/13/14, work performed <24 hours later. Justin was very responsive and explained exactly what he was doing. Had to wait a few hours for the part to be available, in the meantime he was able to turn on the heat so we weren't freezing! Overall the company was very responsive, courteous, and professional. I would definitely recommend them to everyone! It is so refreshing to be able to count on a company to do what they say they will do in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. Too bad there aren't more companies out there like South Hills Electric. Thanks again to Justin!

So far, I am waiting on Angie?s List consent to purchase another deal offered by South Hills that is currently sold out. He has not performed the work yet because he wanted to know if he would have to extend his technician for more time if I am able to purchase this deal- furnace tune up. Adam has been very accommodating with me being in and out of town. UPDATE 11/24/14 I?m limited to space living in a condominium and the service could not be performed.

It went very well. This was my second time using a company from Angie's List. The technician was extremely thorough, he explained everything in detail and told me his recommendations. He was prompt in arriving and was very friendly and considerate. He made sure he put on those little booties so that he did not track anything on my carpet. I thought the service was excellent and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for superior service.

The technician arrived on time and did the inspection in a neat and timely manner. We were very satisfied with his work.
