Of the four separate tasks, three went very well. Only one, which seemed to be working when the electricians left, failed that same day. We called and arranged for them to return. When they did, as scheduled 10 days later, the repairs resolved the problem.

Technician was pretty new. They did tests not normally done, so it was worthwhile.

All went well. Technician was very professional.

The team was on-time and delivered all of the required and quoted services. Would definitely recommend and use them again if needed.

The technician, Mike, was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and polite. Because of his suggestions, I will be engaging the company for services regarding my furnace and duct services.

We have a house built in 2006 by one of the big housing chains in the Pittsburgh area. We have been having an intermittent issue with a breaker that keeps tripping as well as a not-functioning overhead light and wanted a professional opinion. 10/22/2016: Our first appointment with South Hills Electric. Our appointment was assigned to Anthony. He looked at the light, confirmed both sockets were burned out, and we would need to replace the entire fixture. He told us that when the light was replaced it should fix the breaker issue as well. We chose to pick out a fixture on our own, instead of sending the technician to pick one out. He was at our house for approximately 20 minutes and we were charged $89. 12/27/2016: Since the initial visit, our breaker continued to trip, sometimes more than 10 times a day. We could not figure out what was causing the short, especially since we disconnected the damaged ceiling fixture. We also pulled all of our heavy draw electronics (computer, TV, etc) off of that circuit to see if they were causing the short, to no avail. I purchased an Angie’s List deal for $119 and contacted South Hills Electric to set up the appointment. I was informed that the 2 hours I had purchased through the deal would not be applicable because South Hills Electric had already been to our house for this same problem. I was also told that a price estimate was not possible since we were now in “advanced diagnostic” problem. (Side Note: I was able to have the Angie’s List deal refunded.) The same technician from our October appointment was assigned to this one too. He looked our breaker box and upon removing the cover, informed me that there was corrosion on the panel and the entire panel would need to be replaced. The breaker that continues to trip is not on the side with the corrosion. He looked at the breaker more and declared that he thought it was a recycled breaker from the 1990s because it didn’t match the breakers that should have come with that panel. He flipped the breaker to the on position and we started to try to figure out what was causing the trip. I explained that I thought it might be related to our outside post light because it is on the same circuit that is tripping. Anthony took the top of the post light apart to look at the internal wiring, but couldn’t find anything malfunctioning with the light. I asked about putting the post light on its own breaker and he immediately responded that our breaker box was full. If we wanted to put the post light on a new breaker we have to replace the entire breaker box. He said he was already uncomfortable with how our house was wired and he would start fresh. That means a new breaker box. He did install the new interior ceiling fixture for us, but since the breaker is still tripping, we haven’t been able to use it. Since we couldn’t force the trip to happen, he said he was unable to diagnose the problem, so we continue to have a breaker issue. Overall, this visit was about 1 hour long. He did not take apart any of our outlets or switches to see if there was any signs of shorting (like burn marks or smell.) He also did not try to determine where the He did try to jiggle our outside outlet to see if that would trip the breaker, unsuccessfully. (Thankfully, because we later learned the outside outlet was on a different circuit and was hot while he was experimenting with it!) After he left, I looked at our breaker box again and noticed that it’s a 100 amp, 24 space box. There are two empty spots at the bottom of our box, so it’s not a full box. This is contrary to what the technician told us. Not an hour after he left, we received an estimate for a new 100 amp box (with no space amounts determined) for $2100. To South Hills Electric’s credit, they did not charge us for the 1 hour that Anthony was here for the “advanced diagnostic” work. However, our electrical problem is still not fixed, even after two service calls. We are concerned that the constant breaker issue could cause a fire, so we have left it off until we can get a second opinion.

Have used them for years, they are great to work with. Very Happy with their service and professionalism.

It was just okay. The reason why it was just okay is because I guess they did what they were supposed to do when they were out here. But they told me they were going to call me back and give me some pricing on a new air conditioner and come out here and talk to me about that but they never showed up.

tech was late, complained the entire time about how the outlets were old and it was slowing him down. He dropped a nice light switch

Called South Hills electric and asked if they handled installation of these types of switches. They did, and I purchased a 'deal' on angie's list and scheduled them for about a week later. They arrived on time (8:15; window was 8-10). Two electricians came. Neither of them had installed a smart switch before (despite South Hills stating they were familiar with these sort of installs) so they had to spend a little bit of time reading through the instructions and the diagrams. Installed the switches (ended up being 12 light switches in total for the 'room') and despite 1 initial glitch everything worked great. Ended up having to pay an additional 45$ charge because the install went over in time (which wouldn't have happened if they truly were familiar and didn't have to read the instructions and tinker a bit) but all in all the work was good, the guys were friendly/great and I'd have them back to replace the switches other rooms.

The man that came out was extremely nice, extremely informative & he took photos along the way as well.(They keep your photos on file so you can refer to them....how cool!) Very thorough, explained every thing. Very good at what he does. Would definitely call the company again for service or if we had an issue. My only small complaint is on the coupon it said the maintenance visit would include the condenser coil being inspected. I think that's the only thing that didn't get looked at (maybe due to where it is) I was concerned maybe that is where the mildewy smell was coming from. Otherwise, fantastic job!

Everything went very well, the installer was able to come earlier than scheduled and he did a very good job. We paid $119 for 2hrs work, it was an advertised special through Angie's list.

The two gentle men who came to do the job, were friendly and efficient. They performed their work with a minimum of fuss and noise. They even showed up early! I am very pleased with the work and would use them again.

The person who came out did an exceptionally good job. Explained everything about the current AC systems and potential future problems. Didn't try to sell, rather provided a very professional service. Will definitely use again in the future.
