Sears Carpet Cleaning & Air Duct Cleaning

The good: they allowed me to use my 4 areas for 3 rooms and stairs (pretty standard, I think). They gave me a 2 hour window for arrival. The carpet cleaning was pretty good, considering I didn't get any extra deep cleaning or spot treatments. The cleaner was polilte and knowledgeable. The bad: they were over an hour late. They added extra charges (then removed them when I called to complain). The carpet cleaning was acceptable but nothing outstanding. Sears was affordable and adequate but I'd only use them again for routine cleaning, not anything difficult.

I am always comfortable using Sears for work on my house. The showed up on time and did a good job cleaning the carpets. My only complaint about them along with any other carpet cleaning company I have used is that they always try to up-sell you into additional treatments on the carpet. Because it happens every time, regardless of the house I had done or the situation, I tend not to believe their recommendations for additional service. In this case, the cleaner ended by recommending what we can do to the carpets on our own to save us some money. I really appreciated that approach vs. only trying to up-sell me. Thanks!

Cleaners Jesse and Joe were very efficient, liked Sears using a van to use and extract dirty water. Sink hookups in the house was not necessary, loved this. Added deodorizer. It was worth it. Add on fees were low. Rugs dried quickly and looked great. Very pleased.

The services that they came to do was not what we quoted for them to do and it ended up getting like this really ridiculous bill and we were through actually the better business bureau with them. It was really bad. We actually don’t look to do much service with them anymore. We were under the impression that the extra service they were doing was included in what they were doing and there was no price side for anything. There was no price list. We had no idea on what they’re doing. We didn't know that we’re going to pay extra for one of the filters that they were going to sell and so we okay that charge. After we got the $800 bill we didn't know what was going on and we kind of felt that the service is already done what else we can do, we can’t not pay them. So, we paid them but then we stop to order on the filter that we were going to pay extra for. So, we were refunded with that amount that we did but in the event of going back and forth and back and forth it was a few weeks time of trying to get that settled. It was just really an unfortunate situation because we called and leave message and then they won’t callback. We have to keep calling and calling them. It’s just kind of left a bad taste in our mouth. We both known them for a long time and we thought we were safe in that instance and hadn't realize that everything would just opt out.

Moved into a new house that smelled and looked like a heavy smoker used to smoke inside. Thought cleaning the ducts would be a good move to go along with repainting and scrubbing the place down. We had a group on that was $85 for $250 worth of air duct cleaning. The $85 covers 10 vents. We had 14 vents, each extra vent was $10. They suggested we sanitize, and we agreed just hoping that will wash away some of that nicotine smell, but who knows if sanitizing actually helps with nicotine odor. That was an additional $75. Also suggested we clean our very dirty furnace blower, that was $75 but they took $25 off so it ended up being $50 for that extra. Andrew and Adam were punctual, friendly and fast and explained everything to us. They didn't let our cats out of the house, although our cats were thoroughly freaked out. The vacuum sucking sound is loud. Andrew showed us a video of our ducts before and after cleaning, and they went from really filthy looking to looking nice and clean.

The guy named Dave who works there is great. The work turned out perfect. They do outstanding work.

They came on time, were done in about 30 minutes (house was empty) and did everything they said they were going to do. great job. I'll definetly use them again

Carpet cleaning went very well. The tech was knowledgeable, professional, and on time. He showed us the grime in the carpet, and treated a few extra spots we hadn't noticed and didn't charge us extra. There was one small mark left on carpet on the stairs from a missed spot, but it wasn't so bad that we complained [especially because we were planning on taking carpet up anyway and just wanted them cleaned before our baby arrived]. the carpets looked much cleaner than we thought they would, so we would use the service again if we had any carpets left. air duct cleaning went ok. the ducts were noticeably cleaner, and the techs were personable and professional in their explanations and face-face contact. however, after the service we noticed a few problems: they had closed some of the switches so that heat did not blow to our baby's room--could have been a major issue if we hadn't caught it as soon as we did; they failed to patch one of the holes that they made to insert their equipment; they left a mess in our basement [i.e. shards of metal from the air ducts where they drilled]. this might have been the tech, but it was frustrating. **we used Sears for both of these because we had a groupon**

The service tech were punctual, and made sure to explain during each step what they were doing. When arriving to the house, the tech made sure to put on shoe coverings as to not mess up and track in mud. They were friendly, and made sure we were always informed of any delays or changes in plan. They also made sure to clean up after themselves which was appreciated. We have cats, and they were very patient in working with us to move the cats from one room to another so they wouldn't be too scared.

We hit a glitch over recommended injections to kill possible bacteria underneath the carpet cause by an aging dog. We had already treated our carpets when the "accidents" happened and did not believe we needed the injections PLUS it cost a lot per injection. The company was completely honorable and easy to work with and they worked hard to get stains up. I recommend you make your decisions about the injections before the workers arrive so you don't have to make your decision on the spot. They really did a good job with what they had to work with and seemed to care about the quality of their work. It was easy to work through issues with them-----I just wish I'd known what the injections were before they arrived.

The 2 workers from Sears Carpet Cleaning that came to clean my carpets were friendly and on time. They answered all my questions and more. They provided me with information about the carpet cleaning before performing the service, and provided suggestions to allow the cleaning to last longer. I was very pleased with the service provided and the overall professionalism of the workers. I also had them give me a quote for air duct cleaning. They were able to provide a detailed explanation of the quote and were happy to answer questions. They worked quickly and efficiently.

Sears team showed up on schedule to perform air duct cleaning. They brought in dropcloths and plastic doorframe protectors before they brought in the large plastic vacuum hose, which I really appreciated. They counted all the vents/returns in the house and quoted a final price before starting any work. They did upsell me on sanitization and furnace cleaning as well. In retrospect, I wouldn't have paid for sanitization now that I have done some research on the topic, but the crew member was very insistent that I should do it. The team cleaned all the ducts and the furnace and went on their way after less than two hours. However, when I went to inspect some of my floor returns, I found them still covered in dust! I used a hand broom to brush down the sides and got out a HUGE ball of dust, and I could see that there was more down there that I couldn't reach. I called Sears and told them about the poor quality of the service and they immediately agreed to come back as soon as possible. The original work was performed on Friday, and they were able to return on Tuesday. The technician agreed that the work was subpar and decided to put the vacuum down the return instead of just using it in the main down in the basement. This seemed to work to get the rest of the dust out and the ducts looked much better. He also repeated the sanitization and furnace cleaning. Overall, the cost was cheaper than other duct cleaning services and, after some effort on my part, the quality was decent.

They did not get the family room carpet to stop smelling of pets. 3 visits. 2nd and 3rd the cleaner suggested deodorizing, and NOT recleaning. I feel like we just wasted money on that part. And the rest of the cleaning throughout the house was to be expected.

The cleaning seemed to go very smoothly. The technicians were very courteous. The only problem I had was a few weeks later I found what could have been a potential hazardous situation. I found a combustible , high pressured gas can used in the cleaning pushed into an area of the furnace that exceeds the exposed heat warnings on the can and could have exploded causing a disaster. All other debris was disposed of in a provided receptacle. But not his one. I feel that was very irresponsible of the technician and hope that is not a regular problem.

I purchased a 40 year old home and shopped around for air duct cleaning services. I was a little hesitant to choose Sears, as the reviews were mixed, but they were within my price range. I called to make an appointment instead of requesting one online, per the fine print on their website, as I needed to schedule air duct cleaning for the next day. The Customer Service rep was adequate (not bad but nothing spectacular). I was told to expect a call the next morning with the time that the technicians would be out. Still had not received a call by mid-day, and had to call back to verify that they were still coming. Was not provided a time as I had told to expect, but was provided a two-hour window. At that point, I was not expecting very much from the technicians, and was wondering if I had made a wrong choice in choosing Sears. Happily, I was proved wrong. The technicians arrived in their scheduled window of time, and were very thorough in explaining what they would be doing and how they would do it. One of the reasons I chose Sears is because they didn't try to add on a bunch of extra services - I only wanted the air ducts cleaned, nothing else. The technicians did a fantastic job and were quicker than they initially had told me to expect because the house was empty. The ducts had never been cleaned, and I noticed an immediate difference after they finished. I was very satisfied with their service, and would gladly recommend them to anyone. I plan to use Sears the next time the air ducts need cleaning.

We initially scheduled and had to re-schedule due to an emergency... they were fine with that and when they came out during the re-scheduled time, both men were very pleasant, worked hard, and even gave us a $25 off coupon for scotch guarding that we hadn't planned on getting done. We had bought a WPXI coupon for the $99 3-room cleaning, otherwise I would have thought the price was too expensive. The carpets looked great, with all stains removed, and they were very thorough. I would and will use them again.

I had a Groupon. I don't have any complaints with them. I think they did a fine job with what they did. They got the carpets cleaned. They were polite in their dealings. They were not rude. They didn't do any damage. They made sure that there were protective things under all the furniture.

They came right on time and the work went fine. I did not plan on having everything Scotchgarded but they kept telling me about it. Though it sounded like a nice service but I never actually said yes or wanted it to be done. In the end their final bill was a bit more than anticipated.

They were very thorough, and did a good job.

The 2 spots came from the wooden key cart. They stuck styrafoam blocks under 2 of the wheels but left 2 so the wood stained into my carpet. They've sent people out twice to try and clean it but couldn't get the spots out. They offered to piece the carpet but I declined. They told me to tell them what it would cost to be replaced. I told them but they don't want to pay for it. Now I have to pay $1100.00 to have my carpet replaced out of my pocket when I didn't even have a problem in the first place. The manager, Karen Peckawoski, seemed to agree with me and that it was up to Sears to replace my carpet, but her supervisor did not agree. They offered to send a check for $350.00 because the carpet is 10 years old and in medium condition. I declined because that would not be enough to even fix the problem. I have used Sears before and have never had a problem until now.

Sears employees showed up right on time, and were very pleasant and professional. They got right to work, explained everything, and make quick work of the services. This makes me think that the service is highly overpriced for the time spent, but relative to other estimates Sears was the most competitive. Would definitely use them again.

I have used Sears in the past and was happy so we called and asked for a morning appointment. For the air duct cleaning they did a horrible job. I would not recommend them to anyone. They seemed like they were in such a hurry to get done, regardless of the quality. I called them about the job, and they sent someone out and they didn't redo anything they stated that they did it right the first time.

I called Monday morning and received an estimate over the phone and they were able to schedule me for the service on Wednesday of the same week. Very pleased. On Wednesday the two workers arrived on time and actually waited for me to arrive home after calling me because I wasn't there. The work was done quickly and professionally although they did not cover their shoes or take them off which I thought was strange as they were cleaning my carpets?!? They said the carpet would take 12-24 hours to dry and the furniture 6-12 hours. Approx. 6 hours after the work was done we checked the carpet and it was still very wet. We became concerned as the area rugs were sitting on our hardwood floors and the floors were WET underneath. We ended up having to roll and carry the carpets to our basement to lay out to dry so that there would be no damage to our floors. We were not aware the carpets would be wet thru and feel it should be a part of the service for them to be hung to dry or dried. Nothing was said by the workers which could have led to damage to our wood floors. Very unhappy about this service and felt that experienced workers should have known better. We did call Sears to share our concerns and they apologized and offered a discount on our next service. That is fine but we were hoping to get a discount/refund on this service as we will likely not use them again.

They were supposed to come with a truck-mounted unit, which they said was fantastic and would get out more of the stains. They actually showed up with a portable unit. They didn't do a very good job and we called them back and said we wanted it done with a truck-mounted unit. We got a lot of attitude, but they came back and did an excellent job. It was like pulling teeth to get it done. They came through in the end, but it was hard work. Their price was pretty average. The actual cleaners were great.
