I called and got a voicemail, but Karen promptly called me back. She wanted to assess what the problem was to make sure I did not have a plumbing emergency. I did not. She called me back later to set the appointment for the next day. I was given a 30 minute time frame as to when I could expect the plumbers to arrive. They arrived promptly at the given time. They covered their feet so as not to track on the hardwood floors. They completed the work quickly. I was also told to give them a call should I have any problems with the repair. I will use Schubert Plumbing in the future and would recommend them.
Description of Work: The toilet kept running, but the tank would not fill up with water. The fill valve needed to be replaced.

The double sinks in my basement were so clogged that the water had overflowed onto the basement floor. I called Schubert Plumbing and spoke to Karen - who was very pleasant and empathetic to my situation. My work schedule is not flexible at all so I was pleased that Andy could come on a Saturday- which happenend to be the day after I called. He was extremely professional and personable. He was also understanding and assisted in moving all that was stored under the sink. I was very impressed not only with what he accomplished but with his up-beat attitude and respect to me as a client. The last plumber I had used from Angie's list I thought was good- but the last time he came for a clogged tub drain- I had a bad feeling about how he spoke to me- like I had wasted his time. So- I decided to try someone new. Best thing I ever did! Hands down -Andy and the gentleman that assisted him could do cartwheels around who I used in the past. And the price was shockingly reasonable! I now believe that I was overcharged by the other guy who accomplished a much simpler job!

Had been having laundry tub drainage clogging for about a year. Previous plumber diagnosed as tree root penetration and used copper sulphate and instructed us to do the same about every month. We did this but clog came back about every three months. He said alternative was to dig up concrete and replace pipe. Not too appealing. Called Schubert when most recent clog occurred on a Friday late afternoon. Left message. Call returned Sunday and visit scheduled for early Monday. Two Schubert employees came out and snaked drain, identified source of problem as from kitchen disposal (not tree roots) and got everything flowing good. However, couple weeks later drain was slowing again. Called Schubert and left message which they returned same day and scheduled next morning visit this time with Dennis Schubert. He confirmed problem was with disposal and I told him to replace it with "good" not "cheap" one. This was done the same day. this time by the first two employees. Total cost of three visits $435.00. The only improvement could have been suggestion to replace disposal on first visit, but at least the tree roots theory was corrected (which was a relief). I think Dennis maybe took this into consideration in not charging for one of the visits? Anyway, I found $435.00 very reasonable to correct the problem and I can now discontinue copper sulphate treatments at $25/treatment.. I'm sure there are plenty of good plumbers out there, but from now on Schubert will be my choice.
Description of Work: Removing blockage in laundry tub drain originating in faulty kitchen sink disposal. Replacing disposal on subsequent visit.

When I initially called I had to leave a voice mail, but they got back to me within an hour. Andrew's wife Karen takes the calls and was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Andrew was able to make it out on the day I wanted at the time I wanted. He listened to my explanation of the various problems and quickly fixed what needed to be fixed and didn't pressure me into fixing anything that wasn't broken. He wasn't rushed and took plenty of time to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. I wasn't even aware how low our water pressure was, nor did I realize the water pressure could be adjusted. Now our toilets fill up faster, the showers are stronger, our dishes are cleaner, and we don't have to wait a long time to get water from the fridge dispenser.
Description of Work: - Replaced refrigerator water line valve with a larger valve to increase flow to the water dispenser, which running very slowly - Installed a new wax ring on toilet that wasn't seated properly, which was causing an odor - Adjusted the water pressure, which was much lower than it should have been - Fixed a leaky valve to our humidifier (packing nut just needed tightened)

I called Schubert Monday afternoon and left a message. Got a call back a few hours later from Karen. I asked her for an over the phone, rough estimate but she told me that Andy would call me back later that night. I heard back from him late Tuesday and we scheduled the work for the first thing next morning. He showed up bright and early (on time) with an employee and they completed the work quickly and efficiently. They were both professional and polite, explaining the process clearly and answering a few questions and concerns that I had about other options for the work. They came back to work on the bathtub a couple of days later and once again completed the work nicely and professionally. At first glance I thought the pricing was kind of steep. I've done some simple plumbing jobs myself (installing toilets, sinks, faucets, etc), but don't have the tools or know-how to work on copper and brass fittings. I thought the job would just take a few minutes and that I was getting a chump price for not knowing how to do the work myself. Ultimately, the price was extremely fair. Two guys worked on all these items for at least 4 hours in total. They supplied all the fittings and small pieces of pipe that were required to get the job done right. They did a good job. As expensive as professional plumbers are, they're also insured and know how to do the job right. A small leak on a second floor bathroom can destroy the ceiling below before you know it and result in hundreds or thousands of dollars more work. If you break it down by the hour, each of the two guys was probably working for about $45/hr. Still seems a bit steep, right? Consider that they are insured though, so if they do screw something up you don't have to worry about paying extra to fix the problem. Besides, I'm sure these guys work without retirement plans and health insurance. I'm happy to pay them a real living wage for a professional job done right. I will definitely hire Schubert for plumbing in the future.
Description of Work: Schubert plumbing introduced 3 new quarter turn hand shutoffs on appliance gas lines to bring our house up to code as required by law. They capped and disconnected a flexible line running to a dryer since the hand shutoff wouldn't work on that line. They came back a couple of days later to replace the faucets, handles, and diverter in an upstairs shower/tub and replaced the drain cap and overflow cover as well.

I will be using Schubert Plumbing again for future projects.
Description of Work: I recently had Schubert Plumbing to my house to install a pressure reducing valve and to fix two leaking toilets. Karen was great to talk with and always called me back. Schubert Plumbing worked with my difficult work schedule; I'm only off on wednesdays. I called Karen and she called me until we made firm arrangements. One of the first things that I asked was, " I'm sure that this company is really busy due to all of the great reviews on Angie's List. Will they be able to get to my small repairs in a timely manner"? She assured me that they would and a little patience is all that it took. Three plumbers showed-up that day! One installed the valve, and the other two each fixed a problem toilet. They were done in no time flat! I also asked Andy for some advise on some other problem areas. He took the time to assess the situation and communicated what my next steps should be to fix these issues. At the end of their visit, I got quality work, a great (and fair) price, and good advise. What more could a customer ask for?!

The owner is Andrew Schubert. We needed him immediately with the plumbing issue. We called him on Sunday, and he called back in less than an hour. He was absolutely awesome. My daughter's copper plumbing was stolen. It was terrible. I couldn't sleep, so I actually wrote an email to Andy in the middle of night around 5 o'clock. He called me around 6 o'clock. He was there at 7 and he started the job that day. He is phenomenal. He still comes back. He came out in less than hour after I called him. He took care of the job. He was very clean, very thorough and perfect. We had 10 estimates for her plumbing. He came in second highest. We looked at him, we talked to him and we asked him what if it fails. We did an interview process within ourselves and he came out with flying colors. He lived up to it. He didn't say he couldn't do it. He was really good. He was really awesome.

I bought a new house and needed to replace the stove (which was on its last legs). I discovered after buying the house that there wasn't a separate gas shutoff for the stove. I called Schubert, and they disconnected the old stove, put in a gas shutoff right behind the stove (so I can do this myself next time!), moved the old stove into another room for me (and it was heavy!), moved the new stove into place and got it connected, and relit the furnace, hot water tank, etc after turning the gas back on. They also had to run out and get a connection piece for me that hadn't come with the stove. Very pleased with their work! Everything was done thoroughly and promptly and even with a few extras like running out to get the connection piece and moving the old stove. Am definitely planning to call them again for plumbing needs.

The work was completed by Rick in a timely manner. Any delays we had were due to the gas company.he cleaned up the area and even replanted some bushes that had come out.I would highly recommend him and would hire him again.
Description of Work: The gas company notified me there was a leak in my line going between the house and the street. I called several plumbers who work on gas lines. Rick was the only one from Angies List that I called. He came to do an estimate in a timely manner and explained thoroughly the work to be done. he provided an estimate within 48 hours. This was not an emergency situation where my gas had been turned off, so I had time to get estimates.

We will definitely be using Andy again in the future. Not only is he and his crew very professional and conscientious, but they are also very nice down-to-earth guys.
Description of Work: There was a leak in the water line at my parent's house, on the homeowner's side. Andy came out promptly and gave us 2 estimates, one for best case scenario and one for worst case. I liked that he had an idea for a less invasive approach, hoping to not have to dig a trench the whole way to the house, including shrubs. We got 3 estimates and decided to hire Andy. After digging up an area in the basement floor, he found that the sewage line was too close to the water line to implement his idea. He had to go with the worst case scenario after all. But he went out of his way to not disturb the shrubs, that were probably as old as the house. He and his crew performed all work professionally and quickly. Also took care of a couple small plumbing issues we had in the kitchen & bathroom, at no additional charge.

We smelled gas in our house. The gas company came quickly and found we had some leaks in our supply pipes in the house as well as in our stove. They shut off the gas and also red-tagged the stove. We called a few plumbers from Angie's List, and found that Schubert was immediately very responsive. It was a Thursday afternoon and they called us back within 15 minutes. They came the next day, Friday, and did a temporary fix so we would have hot water over the weekend. Then they came early Monday morning to do the work. It took them one day. They were lower priced than the other quotes we got, and they were kind, respectful, and very willing to answer our questions and explain their work. In addition, they did follow-up modifications a few weeks later to change the location of our gas line for our stove, and they did it free of charge.

Andy Schubert and his colleague installed a new hot water heater that solved my sulphur-smelling water problem. He also fixed a leaky spigot outside my house, and I will have him back soon to install plumbing for a new bathroom in my upstairs. Andy was not only professional, but he was great about explaining in detail what I needed to do in order to prepare the area. He was friendly and helpful, and the work was done perfectly. Andy was here on time even though his helper called in sick. The quality of his work is excellent, and I'm very happy with the job. I think the pricing was great, the old laundry tub was a real piece of work, it was solid cement, a double tub and had to be broken up and carted out. Andy did everything and cleaned up afterwards, I highly recommend him and will definitely use him again the next time I need some plumbing work at my house.
Description of Work: I had a toilet replaced, a new kitchen faucet installed, and I also swapped out the laundry tub and relevant pipes and faucets for the tub. Andy also moved the drain pipe over and out of the way so that the new laundry tub could be up against the wall instead of out 6 inches.

I had a washer and dryer delivered to my house. At installation time the installers said they could not disconnect my old gas dryer because the pipe 'wiggled' and they were not allowed to touch it. Therefore the new dryer remained on the truck! I was still excited about the washer but when they disconnected the one water line they said they thought the pipes were leaking and they did not want to get into something they couldn't handle. They said they thought I would need my 100 yr old homes' pipes replaced before any washer could be hooked up. Thinking of expense and disappointed that I still could not do wash, I looked on Angie's list. Saw Schubert's which had good reviews and seemed close to my home. I e-mailed on the holiday weekend and got a call before 9am on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. The receptionist (I think; name Karen) was courteous and asked when I could be at the house so someone could peruse the situation. I was in the midst of a bit of work busyness so I said the next afternoon or the following one after that. She said she would have someone call that evening. I felt happy with that but later when my day evened out I called and left karen a message saying I could do Tuesday afternoon if they could do it. Within a 1/2 hour she called to say that maybe they could and that they would call. She realized she forgot to ask my address and called me back within 1/2 hour. By 140 Reeg called to say he was outside of my house. I missed the heads up we're coming call and asked if he could wait 15 minutes (thinking he probably could not) but he said,"Sure." I flew home asap and showed him my dryer and then the water pipe horror area. He said he would take care of the dryer and investigate if the pipes were leaking; he said maybe they were not so why think of replacing them if it was not necessary at this time. About 1/2 hour later he came up to tell me he had connected everything and asked if I wanted to try the washer to see if anything leaked! I could not quickly figure out how to use the new washer but I still could have kissed Reeg- he set me up to do there works worth of laundry and said my pipes were old and corroding and had calcium build up but thus far seemed okay to keep using until a future fix time. I was overall very impressed with the communication, flexibility, quickness of response and repair and honesty. The company could have easily convinced me that I needed a whole new set of pipes but they did not exaggerate the issue. I don;t have a bill yet but the ease and promptness, as well as patience on the part of the company and Reeg's expertise really helped ease my worked-up mind! Reeg even anchored my washer's out flow tubing so it would not fly out of the utility sink. I had never heard of Schuberts but I will definitely call them for any big or small plumbing need!

I picked Schubert Plumbing randomly from Angie’s List as a 3rd opinion for my basement drain problems. I called Andy at 4pm Monday and had my phone call returned within 30 minutes and set up an appointment for the following afternoon. When Andy and his helper arrived the next day, they listened to me explain the problems I was having and what each of the prior plumbing company had told me. Andy told me he had a few tricks to get the drain open using a snake/rod and told me he would try hard to get it open. He offered to let me watch him and his partner work, something none of the other plumbing companies voluntarily offered. Andy and his helper have a strong work ethic and were determine to use every resource and trick to get my drain open. They worked harder than any of the other plumbers who previously visited my house to unclog my drain. Andy and his assistant even worked partially in a heavy rain downpour as they retrieved equipment from their truck and went back and forth from the basement to the area underneath the back porch where the fresh air pipe was located. Schubert Plumbing's service was exceptional and the price very reasonable. Cheaper then what other big name plumbing companies quoted and charged me.
Description of Work: I used Schubert Plumbing as a 3rd opinion for a drain in my basement that had water backing up onto the floor and I'm glad I did.....I purchased this home and moved in late January 2011. Basement drain was fine until the first week of March when water starting backing onto the basement floor each time we ran water in house. The water did eventually drain, however very slowly. Home purchase came with a Home Warranty from AHS. I contacted home warranty company who sent out another local plumbing company. They come out March 10, 2011 but were not able to open the drain after trying for about hour. This company sent out another plumber with a camera the next day. The following day, the crew was able to get the drain open within 20 minutes. They also ran a camera through line and stated it was clear. I had no problems with the drain until it starting backing up 4 weeks later during the first week of April 2011. I contacted the home warranty company and they sent out the same plumbing company once again. This time, after snaking the line for over 30 minutes and using camera in the line, the crew of this company informed me I had a collapsed sewer. Two days later, I received an estimate of $5,600 to repair the sewer line. Later that week, I had Roto-Rooter plumbing out for a 2nd opinion. The Roto-Rooter plumber was not able to get the drain opened as well. The Roto-Rooter plumber proposed breaking up concrete in the back yard to try to access a fresh air access (that had been concreted over by the previous homeowners) in an attempt to get sewer line open from there. Roto-Rooter gave me an estimate of $1645 for this job but couldn’t guarantee it would actually open the sewer. Looking for a 3rd opinion prior to having my backyard dug up. I located Schubert Plumbing on Angie's List. Andy and his assistant come out the next afternoon. After trying to snake the drain multiple times from 2 different locations in basement,, Andy and his helper noticed the drain rod was not advancing through the drain but, coming up a fresh air pipe that was concreted under a wooden porch in the rear of the house. (Same location Roto-rooter plumber suggested breaking up concrete) Andy and his helper were able to use a chisel and hammer and to chip away a thin layer of concrete to access the fresh air pipe where the drain rod was sticking out within a couple minutes. They were able to run the rod through this newly accessible fresh air pipe that had been concreted underneath the back porch of the house and get the drain opened and flowing freely again. The drain probably clogged up because the fresh air access pipe was not property capped when it was cemented over, allowing rocks and dirt on the surface to enter the sewer line. I plan to have Schubert plumbing return in a few weeks to correctly extend and cap the fresh air pipe under the porch.

We didn't end up using Schubert but had contacted them for an estimate. I called late on Saturday and they returned my call right away and had someone come and give an estimate on Sunday for services. They were very professional, explained everything in great detail so that I understood what was going on and gave a very fair and good estimate. We ended up using a different provider for the service because we wanted the service done sooner than Schubert could, but they were extremely professional and I feel comfortable recommending them to someone else.

Andrew arrived on time and performed a great job. He was knowledgeable, professional and courteous, very nice guy. He explained the problem well and fixed the issue in a short period of time. He also helped us start our gas fireplace and answered other questions we had about our bathrooms. We highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Changed gas pipes for our dryer and fireplace.
