 + -1 moreExcellent. We can say nothing but good words for the Old Dad Shook Contracting, Inc. I also read their web site to review information about their company and they were exactly as described. This is a company with integrity and I would highly recommend them. They know what they are doing and we love our new roof. The clean up was spotless.
Description of Work: Removed existing shingles from the main roof, front porch and rear addition roof. Installed ice and water shield on all gutter edges. Installed 30lb roof felt on existing roof deak.. Installed 30yr owens corning dimentional shingles. Replaced all related aluminum flashing. Installed roof vent-a-ridge roof venting. closed off all corners of overhands and holes where old downspouts were removed. They started on 9/1/2010 and finished early afternoon 9/3/2010.

I had called for an estimate and they seemed to take their time to respond, When they did set up a time for the estimate they never showed or called. I called them and they said that their rep was out of town at that time. I asked why there wasn't a call they said they were too busy, I mentioned that this wasn't a very good business practice and was told that " I don't need a lecture from you on how to run my business" again not very professional.

 + -1 moreMy house developed a leak in the top roof that was running down the inside of a wall and dripping into a built-in cabinet. I called a couple of roofers, and Shook was the only company able to fit me into their schedule that week. They actually were able to do the job a day earlier than they had originally stated. They showed up when they said they would, repaired the leak, and charged me what they had quoted me. All in all a very satisfactory job, and I will definitely call them for any future roofing needs.

 + 0 moreWould recommend this company for work. They showed up earlier than expected but checked to make sure the starting time was OK with us. They kept us updated with their progress and checked back upon completion for our satisfaction with their work. The work was also completed within the quote estimate.
Description of Work: We had snow and ice damage resulting from last years snow storms. This caused our gutters to freeze over and fall from the house. They fell causing a small roof in our back yard to collapse also. Shook was one of the few contractors that came out fairly quickly to provide a quote and indicated a 2 week start time for the work. They actually started sooner when they had free time and came out prior to the start of the job to remove the falling roof and the fallen gutters. When they started the job, they were very professional and friendly and made sure of what I wanted was completed. The cleanup was very good.

 + -1 moreThey thought they could get here today, they said they have lots of trucks out right now. They called me back and they came this afternoon. They did the work for me. They did get some of the downspouts disconnected, the snow off the roof and got rid of the icicles.
Description of Work: I called them and they called me back. They quoted me $350.00 for 90 minutes and a 2 man crew. This was for ice and snow removal.

 + -1 moreWhen they put on the roof the man who owns the company, Shook, he thought that by putting in some replacement parts the gutters could be salvaged and it didn t work. I can t blame him for trying and so we decided that we were going to go with new gutters and we called the same people who put on my roof and they put the gutter guards that were put in from 2007 from my old gutters onto my new gutters.
Description of Work: Our gutters were not salvageable and he came and put in some new gutters.

 + -1 moreThey put in an aluminum cover over the gutter so it would quit overflowing. They were here and where very nice just the water is still overflowing with water. Their pricing was very cheap though.

 + 0 moreI feel that they did a great job and I have no complaints about their work. The roof looks good and they did as expected. They did it in the time that they said it would take and they took away all of the old material and window when they were finished. I am happy with the outcome of the roof and the window. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Shook Roofing and Waterproofing installed one window and replaced my entire roof. I have a three bedroom, one bathroom home. The material they used on the roof was shingles.

 + -1 moreMet their representative at our house. He quickly gave us a bid, which was very fair (around $1,500 -- the lowest bid that we received). We signed and returned the bid and were told he'd call to schedule ASAP. We waited three months and left many phone messages, but never heard from them. They simply blew us off. Switched to another contractor and got the job done.
Description of Work: Minor repair work on tile roof.

 + 0 moreVERY PROFESSIONAL AND COMPLETE WRITTEN ESTIMATE BY OWNER (JACK SHOOK). AFTER I PAID THE DEPOSIT THOUGH, I WAITED 4 WEEKS WITHOUT A CALL. ONCE I CALLED, THEY SCHEDULED THE WORK IMMEDIATELY. THE CREW LEADER, ED, AND HIS CREW OF 3 WERE VERY EFFICIENT. THEY STARTED AND FINISHED WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, AND DID AN EXCELLENT CLEAN UP. THEY WERE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL WITH OUR NEW GUTTERS AND DOWNSPOUTS, AND WITH OUR LANDSCAPING.

 + 0 moreI HAD TO REMIND THEM OF THE WORK AFTER WAITING FOR A CALL TO SCHEDULE. ONCE THEY CALLED AND PINNED DOWN A DATE, THEY WERE PROMPT AND VERY EFFICIENT. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DIRTY JOB (JACKHAMMERING AND REMOVING CONCRETE FROM THE BASEMENT, AND DIGGING TRENCHES), AND ED AND HIS CREW KEPT THE MESS TO A MINIMUM. THEY DIDN'T WASTE ANY TIME, AND KEPT US INFORMED EVERY STEP OF THE WAY ABOUT PROGRESS. THE JOB LASTED 3 DAYS PLUS AN EXTRA MORNING TO REPLACE AND RE-HOOK UP THE WASHER AND DRYER. THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB CLEANING UP.
Description of Work: INTERIOR FRENCH DRAINS AROUND ALL 4 BASEMENT WALLS, AND 2 ELECTRIC SUMP PUMPS WERE INSTALLED.
