Ok Here is the deal. They work by zip codes. It took several phone calls to find this out. So, even thou they are listed as serving Pittsburgh they won't come to me because I'm not in their service area. It's ok with me if they want to do business like this but Angie's List should note that up front. This is more of a review (negative) of Angie's List.

As a Mr Appliance Franchise we buy the zip codes that we service, we are not permitted to service any other zip codes. The first time this customer called our Answering Service told her she was out of our service area, but that we would call if we could service her. We did not call back because we could not service her area. I have the complete recording of her conversation with our Answering Service since all of the calls our Answering Service take are recorded so we can review them in circumstances like these. The Answering Service tells the customer this so the customer can find somebody in their area. The answering Service can't schedule the customer because our computer program will only allow us to schedule customers in zip codes we purchased

I called a third time -- the 800 number. Kept me on hold for a very long time. I'm very disappointed in their lack of customer service.
Description of Work: Called number on Angie's List. They said they don't cover my area. They gave me another number of one of their providers in Pittsburgh. And they didn't cover where I live. I'm in Forest Hills -- in the East End. This is sad that they can't service a location in such a major, populated area.

We are a Mr. Appliance franchise and we buy the zip codes we service. We can't even schedule a service call for a zip code we don't own because our software will not let us. We own zip codes in Allegheny County that have 680,000 residents and can not afford to buy anymore area at this time. Mr Appliance of Westmoreland County Owns part of the East and South of Pittsburgh in Allegheny county so we send any customer we can't service to him just incase he can, we don't promise he can. We do not have a 800 number. f you found an 800 number it will send you to our Corporate offices in Waco Texas and they will send your service request to the proper franchise or tell you that your zip code doesn't populate to any of their franchises. They have 1 person answering phones after 5pm so they can get tied up at times.

The fill tube was not correctly adjusted causing a reoccurrence of the same issue and caused more damage to the fan/motor for the ice maker. The fan/motor has to be replaced now due to the improper installation of the fill tube of the ice maker.

Called Mr Appliance after researching providers and ratings on Angie's List. Bob answered and explained the charges for coming out to diagnose the problem and told me that the technician would be available next day. He also explained that I would receive an email at 5:00 pm with a 2 hour window for the next day appointment and that the technician would call when he was on his way to my home the next day. Everything went exactly as promised and the technician, George, was extremely neat and professional. He diagnosed my problem as a defective motor and quoted me the price before he left our house. He also explained that I had 2 weeks to accept this offer and if I did so within the 2 weeks, my $80 fee for diagnosing the problem would be credited toward the $391 repair charge. I called back later that day to schedule the actual repair and Bob stated he would order the parts and get back to me with a date. Later that afternoon, Bob called back stating that he had found the parts in Pittsburgh and asked if he could do the repairs the next day before 1:00 pm. We agreed and, as promised, George showed up at 11:00 am (after calling to let us know he was on the way) and completed the job by 12:30 pm. I will definitely use this company for any future appliance repairs.
Description of Work: Diagnosed problem and replaced the motor on our front loading Maytag washing machine.

I booked my initial appointment online and then the night before, they emailed me and narrowed it down to a 2 hour window and gave me the name of the repairman who was coming. Ryan was very nice and professional, and patiently answered all of my questions. It only took him about 20 minutes or so to figure out the problem. He gave me an estimate and once I agreed to it, since he didn't have the part on his truck, he ordered everything and got me rescheduled for a return visit. A different repairman came back (Ryan was on vacation) and it took him about 30 minutes to fix everything. I thought the entire process was simple, straight forward and very efficient. The repairmen were very nice and new what they were doing. I even received a Thank you card a week after the service, which I appreciated. I will definitely use them again if I have another major appliance problem.
Description of Work: My oven wasn't heating and they came out, assessed the problem and gave me an estimate. The repairman didn't have the part I needed stocked on his truck so he ordered it and came back a few days later to do the repair.

They did a great job. We set up an appointment over the internet which they confirmed via email. Ryan called before coming and arrived on time. He was knowledgeable and knew right away what the problem was. He explained the problem to us and detailed out what it would take to fix it. He gave us a price which we agreed to. He looked up the parts on line, said they were in stock and we scheduled a return visit right then. On his return visit he fixed the microwave and cleaned up after himself. He had all the parts and tools he needed. We received a detailed invoice in an email. The microwave has been working like a champ. We will definitely call Mr. Appliance again when one of our other appliances decides to act up.

Technician diagnosed problem and then came back with proper part to return machine to proper working order. Technician was clean, punctual, and professional. The price was a little higher than expected, but that was probably my fault. I scheduled work on my washing machine for Tuesday, and was told an e-mail confirmation would come the night prior to service. Upon not receiving the e-mail, I called first thing in the morning to find out they had put me the following Tuesday, not the date discussed. When discussing rescheduling, I was provided the option of "tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday". By the end of that phone call, it somehow became "Thursday, Friday, or Saturday", with little flexibility on timing. I was able to find another provider to come and take care of the issue, and promptly cancelled the service call.

I am sorry we could not accommodate you. When you talk to our answering service they can only provide all day appointments, but we do send an e-mail with a 2 hour window the day before. If you talk to my office they can provide an am or pm call but that limits us too the days we are in that area and if the tech is in the area in the am or pm, and we still send out an e-mail with a 2 hour window. Our techs work a rotating schedule so they are not in the same areas every day and some days they are only there in the am and the next they may only be there in the pm. This makes scheduling specific times almost impossible, that is why we offer all day first and if that is too hard for the customer we can give an am or pm. If the appointment was mistakenly scheduled for the wrong day we only have the option of scheduling for the earliest available appointment since our schedule is always full for that day or we can only wait to see if we get a cancelation in your area. Our scheduling is among the best in the appliance repair business, and is ranked number 1 by multiple organizations

This company makes it EXTREMELY easy to schedule service online. I put in a request for service in the evening hours, by 10am the following morning they had called back to set up a service call. The young man, Jesse; came to our house and made his diagnosis within 15 minutes. Unfortunately he had to order a new pump which meant that we would have to wait until the part came in. The installation went smoothly. It is wonderful to have a quiet washing machine that drains water again! I was very pleased with this company from start to finish. The gentleman who called to schedule the appointment was very friendly and courteous--I cannot say enough good things about the repair technician, Jesse. He was very personable and professional. He was also very nice to our nosy cat--something that I really appreciated. I highly recommend Mr. Appliance!

Contacted the provider 10/12/15 and asked about fixing our dryer. I was told someone would contact me to schedule the appointment. I called back on 10/16/15 and was told they don't service our area in FC. This was mentioned when I called originally but they informed me they would still be able to do it. They should have just informed us they don't service the area and we would not have waited for them.

Our answering service told this customer that he is not in our area we do not service his zip code. They sent us a message telling us to call him only if we can service his area. I am sorry but another Mr. Appliance owns his zip code so we can't service his area. The other Mr. Appliance don't use our answering service, so the call couldn't be transferred over to them.

I have a Subzero refrigerator, which is never supposed to break down. But it did, shutting down without explanation. The first guy I called, someone recommended by Subzero, could not find an explanation. He did recommend that I purchase a new part for more than a $1000. I called the manufacturer who said that would not address the problem. So I called Mr. Handyman. The repairman took apart the whole appliance, cleaning out every vent. He did NOT recommend that I buy an expensive part. His efforts seemed to have paid off. The problem has stopped. I cannot recommend this firm enough!

My washing machine contains a switch that in effect shuts off the washing machine if the lid is up. I believe that it is a safety measure to prevent small children from being injured. This switch had worn out and was no longer functioning, as I was inserting a screwdriver to simulate the lid being down. The washing machine would not drain, or finish the cycle. I was able to create a crude hotwire to fool the machine into emptying the water, but this was temporary fix. I called Mr. Appliance as I wanted an experienced technical to take apart the machine and replace the switch. The technician that came out was very professional and friendly. I appreciated that he took me seriously when I explained the problem, what actions I took, and what needed to be repaired. I appreciated that I was not told I needed more expensive repairs. Unfortunately I have dealings with other companies where my diagnosis was not taken seriously and I was told I needed expensive repairs, so this carried quite a bit of weight with me. He also took the time to answer my questions, as well as show me the proper way to take apart sections of the machine and reassemble them. I estimate that it took the technician roughly 20 minutes to complete the repair. This probably would have taken me several hours, as I am not an appliance repairman. My only complaint is that when I scheduled the appointment, I was informed that I would receive an email the day before my appointment confirming the window of time when the technician would be arriving at my home. I never did receive any such email. I did call Mr. Appliance around 5:00 PM the day before my scheduled appointment, and was informed that the emails are not sent out until the evening/night before the appointment. He then confirmed my appointment over the phone, and the technician arrived during the scheduled window the next day, which is what I had originally scheduled. I question the wisdom of sending an email the night before the appointment because if there is an issue there may not be enough time to resolve and/or reschedule. Regardless, I would recommend and will use this service provider again due to my positive experience with the technician.

The tech was an hour early. The work was performed quickly and he even explained what he had done. My only complaint is that when I booked an appointment for Saturday on their website, I received a phone call telling me that they were not going to be available on Saturday. I rescheduled for Tuesday and was told to wait until the day before to receive an email with a two hour window. When 4:15pm rolled around on Monday, I still hadn't received that email. I had to call and leave a message and then finally got that email. If the scheduling process had gone smoothly, I would have been completely happy.

George analyzed the problem quickly as a loose wire, fixed in 10 minutes. Given the fact that he was also early for a Saturday appointment (did call to say he would be early), he was done before he was originally supposed to be at our house. George was polite, cleaned up (although there wasn't much dirt) and thorough. After he completed the repair, he made several suggestions to improve the dishwasher's performance including setting the RinseAid to use less material. We will definitely make this company for our appliance repairs in the future.

Tech's name was George. He arrived on time, was very professional and new his stuff. When he heard the machine run, he knew exactly what the problem was and detailed what it would cost to repair. Right away, he advised not to repair. We ended up going to Lowes that evening and purchased a new machine. It was instock and delivered the next day. Big cudos for Mr. Appliance and Lowe's.
Description of Work: Evaluated our 15 year-old washing machine as it was making a clunking noise in the spin cycle. He advised that we not repair the unit, due to the repair cost would be almost as much as buying a new machine.

I signed up for an appointment on their website (not through Angie's List) and was able to get an appointment the next day. I called to confirm the appointment 5 minutes later and they had the information and confirmed. I received email confirmation within 30 minutes and another later that evening confirming a two hour window of arrival. The next day I received a call from the shop telling me the technician was on his way. He arrived shortly thereafter and was within the two hour window expected. George, my technician, arrived and put on his shoe covers immediately before entering. He came in an introduced himself and I showed him my fridge. He reviewed the situation and offered my options for repair ranging from simple and inexpensive to more expensive with a necessary return visit. I opted for the first option and he performed the repair of my ice bin tracks and even took the extra time to regrease the ice bin flap door. George was very knowledgeable and conversational throughout the process providing me a clear understanding of what he was doing and the impact of it all. He also provided guidance for improved performance of my fridge. He completed the work in less than an hour and was on his way with a payment of just under $142. These guys were all great and very professional.

My Refrigerator stopped cooling the freezer side is working fine. I went to Angie's list when I came home from work to look for someone to do the repair. First name that came up was Mr Appliance of Pittsburgh it was after their hours posted but had a link to schedule an appointment. I clicked on the link, explained what was wrong and needed someone to come out ASAP it allowed me to schedule time for today for someone. I asked that someone call also. Well no one called so I called them and was told by the women who answered the phone that she does not have access to the Angie's list and that the owner always handled them himself. She said he did not tell her about receiving anything from me. Also there would be no way to have someone come out before Wednesday of next week. She said she would email the owner about this. If they are not able to handle receiving business this way they should have the link removed or something that will prevent the next person from having this happen. I now have to find someone else to come out and repair and so all my food is going to have to be thrown out. This is the first time I used the Angie's List schedule and the last!!! I will not trust anything unless I call and speak with someone.

Very Professional. Initially got an appointment three days later, but requested whether they can do it earlier. Got a call in the evening scheduling for next day. It seems dryer is working fine but need to clean lint filter. Technician just explained the issue and no more add-ons. I Liked the way they send us invoice, right there. Liked them and will request their services if needed again.

I called the office Tuesday morning, and accepted an appointment for Friday afternoon, the next opening. However, in the meantime an opening became available, so the repairman contacted our home phone and arranged to come that afternoon. The repairman arrived, quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty switch, and offered a reasonable solution. He also told us the clutch is going on the washer (which is close to 20 years old) and gave us options about this, recommending not making that expensive repair on this old machine, which we agreed with. The repairs were completed quickly, and the price was reasonable for a service call of this kind. We have used Mr Appliance before, and would use them again for appliance repairs.
Description of Work: Repaired our Kenmore washer, which filled with water but would not agitate or empty.
