We recently had new sheet vinyl flooring installed in our kitchen and butler?s pantry, replacing the old (and ugly) linoleum in the kitchen and dark carpet in the pantry. The installation went fairly smoothly with one or two glitches (see below), and the final result looks great. Most important is the invisibility of the seam from the two pieces of flooring that were used. And the installation itself only took two days. Unfortunately, there were some glitches along the way. After ripping up the carpet and before installing the plywood sub-floor, the installer suggested ?a change of plan??not removing the linoleum and the sub-floor in the kitchen. Taking it up, he said, would require two layers of new plywood to compensate for the height. My wife stood firm and reminded him that the contract said, ?To lift vinyl/sub/carpet,? rather than to leave it down and lay the new flooring on top of it. The installer agreed with no problem, but it was annoying, as we had lost a week testing the linoleum for asbestos and waiting for the result. When the installers were finished, I did a complete inspection and found no problems. However, I did not open the basement door, as it was obstructed by a table, reminding me not to walk where the seam was, with glue still drying for another 24 hours. When I did open the door the next day I found the door rubbing the floor (yes, right over the seam). A call that day (Saturday) resulted in a callback the following Tuesday, with someone scheduled to return the following Monday. That fix took less than 15 minutes, and in the meantime the brand new flooring was scraped every time I opened or closed that door. As a result, where I would fault the company is in communication. For another thing, our contract mentioned, ?To install new 4? ribbon base along cabinets?color--? and a blank line. That color was never determined beforehand. Fortunately we found the blue the workmen arrived with was acceptable. This inconsistent communication led to the project taking over one 6 weeks to complete, from first contact and appointment in the store to the final fixing of the door problem. Also, I was dismayed when, putting everything back in place, I discovered dirty handprints on counters, doors, and appliances. It seems like the installers could have washed their hands before maneuvering the white fridge and stove back in place, leaving me less to clean up. My wife and I, as college professors, are always giving grades, so we would give Molyneux a B+ for this job. We would likely use them again, but after the sticker shock of the final estimate, we will need to delay further work on carpeting for at least another year.

I called Molyneaux because of the high rating on Angies List. I got Cindy Benson as my sales rep. Cindy was able to work with my schedule to come out to my new condo to help me select. She brought samples and she made it easy giving a few quotes. Installation day was easy and installers were quick and professional .

They priced our floors at $12,000 for about 700 sq ft., which included all of their "specials" and "coupons"! So it would have been $24,000?!? This was for laminate (their best quality laminate) which was cheapest option. Needless to say we weren't fooled by this price. We went with a different company and real, solid oak

They did a really good job. The only issue I had was we have a swinging door and they put a new transition in and it makes it so we can't close the door. 400 sq. ft. They were very professional,quick response and made sure we were getting what we wanted. The flooring itself is excellent. We may go with them next time but we are members of a company called Direct Buy and we can maybe buy the materials from them and then get on Angie's List to find an installer.

A Molyneaux salesperson came out to my house to give an estimate for installing hardwood floors. He pulled up a corner of the carpet, told us that it was pine and not oak and was too soft to refinish (which is a service that Molyneaux doesn't provide), showed us example wood and laminate options and gave us estimates for all of them. This was fine. Then a couple of days later a salesperson for a different (and smaller) company showed up. He pulled up a corner of the carpet and immediately told us that we had oak floors, they were probably the original from 1940, and that he wouldn't be able to take our money to put new wood floors on top of the "beautiful" floor we had already. He recommended a couple of people who did refinishing and went on his way. Obviously I don't know much about wood floors. It is possible that the Molyneaux representative didn't recognize the kind of wood that we already have, though I find that hard to believe as that's his job. I was very disappointed with either his lying or his incompetence, whichever one it was.

We went to the Penn Hills location. The sales guys were really helpful. The rug is really high quality and I though reasonably priced.

Wonderfully in the end--the vinyl was a new product which neither we nor provider was satisfied with; all was replaced to everyone's satisfaction. Wood floor installation was excellent from beginning to end.

First, and foremost, the materials and workmanship for both floor installations by this company were excellent. Both crews worked efficiently and cleanly. I have no issues with their workmanship. What I do have concerns about goes further. For the first installation, we felt that the company was not honest regarding availability of materials. All in all, we had about 2 months' delay in installation due to the materials not being available. We felt that the company was not forthcoming with this information, and kept telling us that it wouldn't be much longer. But it was, and we had some scheduling problems once the materials actually arrived. The second time we had work done, there was also a delay, in spite of promises by the salesman that the work would be done by a specific date. It turned out that the company only gets delivery from its warehouse in MD once a week. Because of this, our second job was delayed one or two weeks, putting the work schedule into a really awkward timeframe for us (wedding and guests in house). We had discussed this with salesman and he promised work would be done in time. It was not. But even worse, when the man finally arrived to do the second job, he failed to lay down the tile pattern I had requested. Just by chance, I went to check on how he was doing, and saw that the pattern he had laid out was not what I had ordered, and certainly not what was on the worksheet. He had not yet put in the grout, so I asked him to redo the pattern. He then admitted his error after actually LOOKING at the worksheet, and apologized. I asked him to lay the tiles in the requested pattern, but he said that he had not brought enough tiles to do that pattern. He would have to get more tiles and return at another time. Not knowing much about such work, I could not evaluate if he was telling the truth or not. I had the feeling that he thought it looked OK (and it did) and simply did not want to redo it according to the original design. At that point, I told him to go ahead and grout because I could not wait through another delay. I ended up feeling like he was messing with me, and if he had been careful to look at the original plan, he would have brought the right number of tiles. The floor is lovely and well-done, but not what I had asked for. Will I use this company again?? Not until I have exhausted other possibilities and research. Again, the workmanship is excellent, but I don't trust the salespeople or the workmen now.

Very happy with the new carpet as well as the entire buying process. The Molyneaux showroom has hundreds of styles on display, so the selection is great. Erin came to my house and brought several of the samples that I had liked from the store so that I could look at them next to my furniture. She took measurements and gave me quotes on 3 different carpets. The quotes were very competitive and reasonable when compared to the quotes I had received from 2 other competitors. After choosing one of the carpets I scheduled an installation for about 3 weeks later. During the installation while they were removing the old carpet from the stairs, they found an issue with one of the steps needing some repair work. The installers gave recommendations on how to fix the issue and even helped fix it. The installers were also very careful when moving furniture and put everything back in place after the job was done. Molyneaux stands by their work and I am happy I chose a company with such a great reputation.

It went well. They came in one day and was out in hours.

Everything from the visit to the showroom to gather information to the in-home estimate and especially the installation went so well. I am quite pleased with the work and the backsplash in the kitchen is just gorgeous. They did a professional job and it made such an improvement to our home. I will highly recommend Molyneaux in the future to anyone. Everyone was so nice and it could not have gone better.

They were very good. They were not the low bid, but I fell better with their selection and their service.

They were great. They were very professional. The carpeting was quality. They're easy to work with. The installers were really good and we were very happy about it.

This is a hard review because I'm happy with the end result... but the process to get here was TERRIBLE. I think my problem was that I didn't have good original installers so they did a messy job with very visible seam lines (three within a five foot area right in the hallway VERY visible), didn't add padding to some of the closets (so you had a large slope down), didn't tack carpet in completely around all the edges of each room or seal all the seams. Overall it was a very poorly done job at first... which was odd because it was an easy job as there was no furniture in the house and no carpet to be removed. So moving on from the original install I had THREE service calls to try and fix some of the problems (also another reason for the calls were to get my doors back on the hinges because the original installers 'didn't do door shavings'). When I still wasn't happy after the third attempt to fix the terrible hall seams I got in touch with (Gary maybe?) a supervisor who came right out and told me that yes, it was not a good job done and he was very apologetic and promised to fix everything... so about two months after the original carpet install I had an amazing team of two guys (completeley different from the original installers) who came and fixed it all for me. It's a shame because I think I would have had a completely different experience to report had I had them from the beginning of my experience, and Gary was very nice and responsive to deal with. I must say I am very happy that Molyneaux lived up to their name of customer satisfaction and fixed all the problems eventually, but in all good conscience I can't give them a better grade because it was a long road to get there and I wish it had been done right from the beginning.

Installers came on time and went right to work-removing old carpet and moving furniture! Installers very professional and cleaned up after all work done. I am very impressed and very satisfied with workers and carpet. I did and wiil in the future would recommend Molyneaux to anyone. Kate D.

The salesman Harry was very easy to work with and accommodating, the instillation was wonderful and they were here for less than 2 hours. I was amazed at how fast it went. The carpet is beautiful and so plush. We love it.

It was expensive. They were very responsive.

Everything was perfect and cheaper than competitors as well. This included a pre-installation visit to match the carpet to the interior, measurement etc.

I called Molyneaux and scheduled an in-home estimate for carpet installation. They were able to come out that week. The sales representative was helpful and had a good selection of carpet. Originally we wanted to also install new carpet in an additional bedroom and staircase, but the price was higher than we were anticipating even with the ongoing sale. We were able to select quality carpet with a color we were interested in and placed the order that evening. The carpet came in a little earlier than anticipated and they let us move up our installation date. The installers were nice and professional and the carpet looks great. My only complaint is that we were not given an original price and the sales price for comparison. We were also not shown the price difference of the different brands of carpet. We were only given a quote for the entire price of our final selection. This made it a little difficult to see what the savings were with the sale and the price differences if we were to choose different types of carpet. We were in a little bit of a hurry or we might have shopper around a little more. Otherwise, everyone we dealt with at Molyneaux was very friendly and helpful and we are happy with the carpet we ordered.

The service was wonderful the gentleman from the store came to my house made measurements very professional would use them again.

We received a quote to get solid hardwood floors in two large rooms (living room/dining room and a den). The estimator called me the day of our appointment to get an idea of what kind of samples to bring. I told him I was interested in solid oak in a darker stain, so he brought several large (approx 1' x 2') samples. He measured our rooms and gave us an estimate based on our selections. Thankfully, there was a sale going on, because the estimate came back within our budget. The installation crew called the morning of the installation. They showed up on time. They moved all the furniture. They asked me whenever there was a question on the installation. They finished in one day (originally estimated at 2-3 days), and cleaned up. I was extremely satisfied with the installation and the estimation. I realize they are a bit expensive which is why I gave them a B for price, but I believe that quality can cost a bit more. And I feel the job was well worth it.

The Molyneaux rep came to our door with samples and suggestions. It took less than an hour to have him measure, select style, get an estimate and place the order. The installers were terrific. Very professional and cognizant of noise and any dust. They did a an amazing job. We had looked at going to a big box store, but once we understood what was involved; scheduling someone to come to the house to do the measurement and 3 days later go back to the stores to select our style and still wait 3-4 weeks for installation, we opted to go with Molyneaux. They made it fast and easy for us and worked around our schedule. The good news is the cost was about the same. We will definitely use them again for any flooring needs.

Pros: Molyneaux provided and installed high quality carpet at a price that beat the big box stores. They came to our home with samples and gave us a quote right away. We didn't have to sit through a long sales pitch like some of the other stores. The carpet was installed well. Cons: Our salesman did not write down the color of the carpet that we picked out at our home, despite the fact that we specifically asked him to when we picked it out. No one called to give us an approximate arrival time the morning of our installation-- which was especially frustrating since we were not currently living in that home. The installers broke a light fixture at the top of our stairs-- instead of telling us, they threw it into a box in the kitchen (which was open on the bottom) presenting a danger for us and our toddler son.
