From our meeting with the sales rep through installation and two follow-up visits, it was a great experience. Everyone was very professional, polite, and responsive. The crew worked quickly, cleaned up everything, and did a great job. When we noticed that some caulking was missing (months later), the company sent someone out within a couple of days of my call. I recommend them them highly.

Great products, looks beautiful, professional installation, great workers, very, very helpful. They deserve the 5 star rating they have. They also work hard to please. Costlier than do it yourself, but results are wonderful. Will be using them again to replace some more windows. We even changed our order and there was no additional cost. We have lived in this house for over 40 years and I am thrilled with the new doors and windows.

The office staff was friendly and professional. The dates they gave us for consultation, manufacturing of glass, and installation were all accurate - there were no delays and calls we made with questions were responded to immediately or within 24 hours. The window was beautiful, and made to fit in our wooden frame perfectly. The individual who installed the window was also friendly but professional. As arduous a job as it was due to the window being different from the original by size, as well as the kitchen being considerably higher than ground level, it was installed within a normal time span. There were no delays and no problems. We were and are very satisfied with this company.

On August 21, 2015, Mike of Met. Windows came to the house and gave me an estimate for replacing the storm window for my stained glass window. The previous storm window - which was probably original to 1893 - had given way and shattered onto the ground. Scared the you-know-what out of me when that happened! That was a lot of glass that I cleaned up! I called a few window companies, but I knew that this would be an out-of-the-ordinary job. The stained glass window itself measured about 38 inches by 6 feet! Well, Metropolitan was not the cheapest, but they did offer what I was wanting, which was a tempered glass, single sheet of glass with no "bar" or frame cutting across the middle width of the window. The previous storm window was in two panes, as I guess they did not have the technology to do otherwise in the late 1800's. I contracted with Mike for the job on August 26. Metropolitan Windows would replace the rotted wood on either side of the window, add new wood, install the storm window and silicon all around. He told me that a man would be around to get exact measurements for the new window and wood. And he also said it would be about 5 to 6 weeks until install because of the manufacture of the storm window. On the 28th of August, two men came by to measure the window. I had been told that they would not have to see me, so I didn't have to be here for this. Good thing I was, though, because Mike had neglected to tell them that they would need a ladder to reach the window! They were able to come inside and measure. This was the only glitch in the whole job, and was a minor thing in my opinion. In fact, I thought it was kind of funny. But I don't sweat the small stuff, anyway. Imagine my surprise when Mike called within 4 weeks and scheduled the installation! The same two guys came by to install the window, but I didn't watch because it was my birthday and I left to go have some fun. But when I came back, the work area was spic and span, and the window looked great. Now I don't even notice it because it is so perfectly done. All in all, this was a great experience. Metropolitan Windows took what I considered to be a big problem and turned it into a very easy fix. Everyone I dealt with, all through the company, was friendly and personable. Great job by Metropolitan Windows, and I will be in touch with them in the future.

The Windows: Metropolitan sells windows from Marvin Windows and Doors. Marvin specializes in windows fabricated of fiberglass. Replacement windows are commonly built of wood (tend to rot), aluminum (strong, but lose heat), vinyl (tend to warp), and fiberglass. Fiberglass windows are more expensive, but are considered by many to be the best quality replacement windows available. Our house had ten original steel casement windows and two oversized wood casement windows. We purchased fifteen Marvin Infinity fiberglass windows (three doubles); thirteen of which we purchased as double hung and two we purchased as gliders. Marvin also offers single hung, casements, awnings, and hopper type windows. The Metropolitan Windows Company: Metropolitan is owned by the Schmotzer Family and has been in business since 1978. Family members include Dad John, Mom Maggie and Son Justin. Justin does the sales calls, John takes the measurements, and Maggie keeps things organized. We sent an e-mail to the four companies we were considering for the job. Maggie called the day we sent the e-mail and scheduled the sales call for three days later. No other company responded so quickly. Justin arrived exactly on time, spent a lot of time checking the job over, and provided a fixed bid before he left. He answered all our questions, knew and understood the product line, and even had a display model to show us how the double hung windows work. We decided on Metropolitan and the Marvin Infinity line and signed the contract. Note that Metropolitan only requires a portion of the payment upfront. The final, and larger, portion is due upon completion of the work. John made an appointment a few days after we signed to take measurements. Since our existing windows were so old, installing the new windows was not simple. John spent time with us to explain our installation options. One of our major concerns was the sills as our old windows had wide marble sills which were perfect for potted plants. John designed composite sills nearly as wide and able to support the plants. Maggie was responsible for making and coordinating the appointments, placing the order with Marvin and keeping us informed of the order status. We were told it would take between seven and eight weeks to build all of the windows and schedule the installation. Note that they beat this estimate by two weeks; they were on-site and installing in five weeks. The Installation: Maggie called and scheduled the installation and told us they would supply two crews so the job could be completed in one day and that we should expect the men to arrive between 8:00am and 8:30am. Two Metropolitan trucks with four men arrived at 8:00am, with all the windows and all the equipment and tools and materials needed to perform the work. We did a walk through with the team leader just to look at the windows that were to be replaced. Leader Sean was well informed about the job and was ready to start. The crews worked until 5:30pm with only a short break for lunch. They did not leave the site until all of the work was completed. They laid down drop cloths on the floors and all nearby furniture and removed each old window. They then placed and anchored each new window, foamed each in place to assure a leak-free installation, installed trim strips, sills, mouldings, etc., all as required to complete each installation. Then they removed the adhesive labels, cleaned the panes, then pulled up the drop cloths, and vacuumed everywhere. When Metropolitan?s crews left, our house was cleaner than it was when they arrived! And, Sean ran a little training course to show us how the windows work, how the panes are flipped for cleaning, and how the screens are installed. So how do the windows look? They look Great! The Marvin windows are obviously best quality, and Metropolitan?s work was just wonderful. I would not hesitate to contract with them again, or to recommend them to others.

I can't speak highly enough of Metropolitan Windows. The prices we're very competitive, the installation was quick and very well performed, and the crew was very professional. Additionally, the operations manager kept in contact with me (to let me know what to expect) previous to installation, the day of installation, and with follow-up calls after installation to make sure I was satisfied with the work. I'll definitely be using them again as I work my way through my entire project.

FIVE STARS!!!! From the person who answered the phone, to the salesman, to the installer, everyone was excellent. My neighbor, who also had 1 window replaced, had difficulty getting any one to come out. They came out quickly with the quote and once ordered it arrived in less time than they had stated. The price was high, bur I guess you get what you pay for. My only problem now is that the replaced window looks so much better than the others. I definitely plan to use them again to replace all my windows. I would not hesitate to recommend them . EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!!

Very punctual, great communication. Quality of work is the top of the line. I've done general contracting work for years and I have never seen a higher quality installation ever. Everything literally is perfect. The door was perfectly plumbed, closes perfectly and the metal work and trim was air tight. Best contractors that I have ever had the pleasure doing business with. Highly recommended.

I called to ask if I could have someone come out to give a a price on windows that will need to be fixed in a home we want to purchase. We are under contract and yet they want to charge me 100 bucks for an estimate. But the day I sign the contract they will come out for free. Thats ridiculous. I even told the woman on the phone this isn't a negotiating item, the windows have to be fixed and is not a negotiating term for the house sale. Nothing. Not even let me go ask someone and used the words "have to". Excuse me but no you don't have to charge me for that. No other company has mentioned that yet! Oh they say free estimates over there on the side of the page. I was truly interested in seeing if their fiberglass or wood windows would be a good option or affordable for us. I guess I will never find out now.

They did have to remeasure, however they did a good job. They also gave a good recommendation of the window stainer.

Justin, our salesman and son of the company owners, knew the product well. However, when he was not completely sure how to resolve a situation with one of the windows, he immediately called his dad. This really impressed us. It showed us how much he cared about meeting our needs and maintaining company standards. He took his time explaining everything without any pressure to make the sale. The installation went well. The men were very punctual, polite, and professional. They were extremely competent. A few of the old windows did not come out easily. Instead of getting upset about this, they calmly used a different strategy. The crew worked very diligently and completed the job in one day.

A team of 4 arrived good and early the day of the install. They couldn't have been nicer or more respectful of my home. They put drop cloths down everywhere, moved some furniture out of the way and put covers on others. It took them all day to do the 6 windows and we couldn't be happier! From the first visit with the salesman to the finished product, it was a pleasure!

The whole experience was pleasant from the start. All team members are friendly and courteous. Scheduled an appointment for Justin to come to house to give estimate. We were very impressed with his knowledge and his commitment to carrying on the business that his parents created. We signed contract and 1 week later the owner John Schmotzer and one of his installers came to look over the windows. At this time they noticed that all of the wood trim around the original windows would need completely removed and taken down to the frame and replaced with all new wood trim. The bow window would need completely built from scratch. This discovery increased the estimate, which was disappointing, but we understood the reasoning and trusted that John knew what to do to get the job done right. It took about 6 weeks for windows to come in for installation. The installation crew arrived promptly around 9 in the morning. They were all professional and courteous. They laid down plastic on the floors and covered all furniture. All old windows were removed. There was one crew to work exclusively on the bow window and another for the rest of the windows. They finished the job at about 4 in the afternoon. All of the old windows and wood were hauled away in their truck and not one scrap was left behind. The fiberglass windows look beautiful and are such good quality. One of the crew explained and demonstrated how to operate the windows. We are very happy with how easy they are to operate and clean. We would definitely recommend Metropolitan Window Company and plan on using them again in the future to install new windows on the back of the house as well as new sliding door.

I'm very pleased with everything from start to finish. This was my first major project as a first time home buyer. The first thing my mother said when she walked into the house was I have to get new windows and boy was she right. The old ones were the original windows at 60+ years old. They let the cold and hot air through and all manner of bugs. Not only that but the noise from outside was just the same as having the windows open. I live off a heavily trafficked road where truckers like to blast the jake break. Now that I have new windows in I have no problems with bugs, hot or cold air coming through, and the noise pollution is significantly reduced. Mike was the first to come to the house to give me my first estimate (I got two others). He took his time to walk through the house with me, measure, and explain the process of installing the new windows. He showed me what my actual window would look like. The glass is very thick, especially compared to Pella who came in a little higher. I much prefer how the Marvin windows operate compared to the Pella windows. Mike didn't mind that I was to have others come in and give me estimates. Didn't pressure me to make the sale or sign any paperwork. Pella wasn't like that, and the other guy was there for five minutes and didn't measure a thing or count the windows. Not sure how I got an accurate estimate out of that one. But if you have someone come in and not pressure you to sign paperwork or get upset that you're getting other estimates, that's who you need to go with. Metro is very confident in the Marvin line and their services. They have every right to be. After I made my decision to go with Metro, John came in and did the final measurements. He was very flexible with time and came later in the evening. He explained more of how the process would work and what the guys would be doing when they got here. I think I was told eight weeks to installation and it was only six. The guys showed up when they said they would, cleaned up great, and only took two days with two crews to install all the windows. Wade came in a couple of days later to install the storm doors which he also did a great job on. The windows look great. I originally did not intend to put new ones in the attached garage because I do not live it the garage but after seeing the new windows I decided to go ahead. They're being installed this week. The installation time has been much quicker than expected which is fine with me. I'd like to get everything done before winter hits. I'll never need new windows in this house again, but if I sell this house and move elsewhere and that house needs new windows or doors, I will definitely be going with Metro. No the price isn't low but if you want cheap then go with vinyl. You get what you pay for. Quality and service.

Everyone at Metropolitan was very courteous and professional from the inital contact, estimate, and measuring, to installation. They were flexible in scheduling and always showed up ontime. The work was done quickly and they cleaned up after themselves. I received calls during and after the installation to make sure I was completely satisfied. They did an excellent job with the trim and caulking. I may have been able to get a lower price, but I doubt I would have gotten the quality product and service I received from Metropolitan.

From start to finish, the experience was top shelf. Initial presentation, measuring , working within our best times, etc., I really can't say anything negative about the job.. What impressed me the most, the installation crew was extremely organized, professional, and courteous. They completed the job ( 13 windows ) in one day.. Nowadays, it is hard to get contractors to call back, let alone follow thru.. Will use them again, if/when the need arises...

We looked through Angie's list and found a few candidates. After meeting with each of them, we decided on Metropolitan Window Co. We had a great experience. The price was higher than the rest, but we were looking for a particular style of window. Very nice job, prompt, and windows look great!

Excellent product from what I can tell and from what I have researched. The consultation went well, and punctual. Plan on a good 2 hours. good product but very pricey. I loved the windows and the company is good but I am not sure the windows are worth the extra price. Will consider in the future.

Mr. Schmotzer was a little late for our appointment, but he called to say he was stuck in traffic. He seemed very knowledgable about replacement windows and was thorough in his answering my questions. He measured our windows and we received a quote at the end of the visit. The estimated price was more than what I had expected, and Mr Schmotzer understood my concerns. We have not received any follow up calls since the original visit.

They were good. Their price is in line with all the other bids, it's market average.

The estimate was slightly higher than 2 others. what won me over was the professionalism of Sean,salesperson. He reviewed all window features with me,answered numerous questions. he had a good knowledge base and very friendly. The installers were again very professional and friendly. the work was completed within the time frame given me. I received phone calls from the company before, during and after installation to keep me apprised of when windows would be installed and then to make certain I was pleased with the work and finished product. I would highly recommend them.

The workers and the product was all fine. They wanted to put me on a list saying that I had work done with them and that I was satisfied. I didn't have any problems with that but they sent me a letter saying that I had new windows put in and that I was satisfied and that I would not mind if people would like to stop by and I would demonstrate the windows to them. That was all made up and they didn't ask me. I am disabled and it is very hard for me to move around. I was a little upset so I called them and asked that they refrain from doing that. I said they never said anything about recommending people to stop by my house and knock on the door so I could show them the windows. They said they had some kind of a publicity person and that maybe it came from them. I told them not to send out the letters and they said they couldn't do that. I never got any people knocking on the door so maybe they did do something about it but they refused to tell me they were going to do something about it. It was a shame because the workers were wonderful and they really do excellent work. I really couldn't complain about the work. It was the owner and his wife that had these letters sent out. I didn't really think it was fair to tell people to come to our house. I would not recommend them for that reason but the workers were excellent and the product and work was good. I liked everything other than that. I was quite angry and upset over the letter and that they wouldn't do anything about it because they said the letters had already gone out. Guy was the man that came out and set up the work and he was great. I felt that the owners lacked respect for their customers. I wouldn't recommend anybody signing anything because they take advantage of it.

Their price was very good and we were very pleased with them. We compared the prices with other service providers and they were very nice. Their salesmen and follow up calls were great. They did a beautiful job.

I did not get them from Angie's List because they are local and I've used them a number of times over the years. We started with one window and then we had some others put in at a later time and it's been years since the last one was put in. My windows are all nice so there's no reason to be thinking of replacing anything much in my house. We designed it that way and I wanted to make sure that we didn't have any big ticket items that's why we talked. There's always just trying as it can go and things like that but that's something to be expected. Everybody around here knows about them because they are local. We didn't have them all done at once because that was too costly because we had big bay window, then they did all my upstairs window and some of the downstairs windows. The rest was done by the other company. They are not cheap, we paid more than with Thermotwin. My husband was right here when they put them in and he said that those were so much better and they insulated better than Thermotwin though I can't complain about the Thermotwin when they were here because I have another problem with them. One window was installed in my dining room by them and when there's a problem they manufactured and sent somebody out. When I call them with a problem, they always solve it and it was taken cared of promptly but it only happened a couple of times.

I'm writing this review a year after the work was done. First, John came out and looked at the job himself. John is a real pro. He knows his business and how to sell it. I really enjoyed working with him. He listened to what we wanted and worked to come up with a plan that met our needs. He gave us some good ideas as well, but he didn't insist on his way. It was a very collaborative process. We went with the Marvin fiberglass casement windows. They are not inexpensive but I believe they are among the best you can buy. John put his best crew on the job and that is exactly what we got. Paul and the other guys were so courteous and professional that they made the installation a pleasure. The did 26 openings in 3 days, cleaned up completely everyday and asked if everything was cleaned to our satisfaction before leaving for the day. John even came out a week later to adjust some of the hardware that was too tight. I highly recommend this company.
