We purchased a coupon from Angie's List for a service call which included 2 pounds of refrigerant for Metro Heating & Cooling. I contacted Metro on the weekend and was told I would be called back Monday morning to schedule an appointment. Monday morning came and I got a call. We were able to schedule an appointment for the very next day which was unexpected since the temperatures were in the high 80's and I assumed they would be too busy. On Tuesday the technician came to the house as scheduled, was very professional and knowledgeable. He had to add a total of 3 pounds of refrigerant and he cleaned the unit. Besides what I purchased from Angie's List, I was charged for the extra pound of refrigerant. Everything went great, the A/C is cooler and I would use Metro again without a doubt.

Very, very pleased with their work. We got estimates from a few companies that were all pretty close together, but in meeting with Metro we had the most confidence in them. They were very accommodating in scheduling the work around the birth of our second child. Because they did the in-home work in January, they had to come back later in the spring to install the outdoor unit, but did this in plenty of time before it got hot. The system works great--warmer on our top floor, but they told us this would happen and it's fine with us. It does take it down to a bearable temperature. The first and second floors are cooled very well and we've loved it this summer. They did a great job of fitting the equipment in unobtrusively and placing the vents--because of the construction of our bedroom they had to run the vent down to the dining room along the corner of the bedroom and build a bump-out around it, which made me a little nervous but they did a great job (they even custom-made molding for the bump-out to match the existing molding in the room).They cleaned up very well every day and the guys were pleasant to have around. I'd definitely recommend them. My only complaint, and it's a very small one, is that they covered the access panels on the top floor with fairly cheap-looking plywood. I'm sure they did that for ease of removal in the future and because we aren't up there much, but if I'd noticed it in time I would have rather paid for something nicer (and because they did so well everywhere else in the house, I'm sure they would have accommodated this). I wouldn't even mention it except that if you're planning to use them and this is something that would bother you, you might want to bring it up and I'm sure they'll come up with another solution.

The service took less than two days and appears to have been quality workmanship. I did have one minor issue during the installation and a couple issues within a week of the installation, but Metro quickly resolved each them without hesitation or delay. I highly recommend Metro Heating and Cooling.

I'm so happy I called Metro after reading reviews on Angie's list. I had two other companies come out to give me an estimate on fixing my central air, which simply wasn't keeping the house cool. Neither of those companies actually took the time to see if the air coming out of my vents was cool enough or go onto my roof to inspect the a/c unit. Instead, they simply wrote up an estimate to replace and/or add more vents to the existing unit. I didn't understand how it could be determined that my unit needed to be replace without actually looking at it. So I called Metro and they scheduled Heath to come to my home between 1:00 and 3:00 the next day. He arrived just a few minute after 1:00 and immediately went to my roof to look at the unit, where he quickly discovered it was low on refrigerant. He added 3 lbs. of R-22 and I immediately noticed an improvement. Not only did Metro QUICKLY solve my problem, they also saved me from unnecessarily spending the $1250 to $3975 that the other companies wanted to charge me. I will certainly be calling Metro for all of my future heating and cooling needs.

Tom, Mark and the entire Metro team provided outstanding service to retrofit our pre-war radiator-heated house with central AC. They recommended top-tier equipment and thoughtfully configured the equipment location and duct routing to be unobtrusive and effective. Metro completed the work on time and in a highly workmanlike manner. They left the work area spotless and were very mindful of the appearance of the installation. For example, any visible lines and cables were run neatly and as unobtrusively as possible. The grilles for the ducts were cleanly installed without so much as a stray fingerprint on the ceiling. We have lived happily with the system for a year. Their careful design of the ducting system results in a house that maintains an even temperature from the basement to an attic bedroom and is so quiet it's sometimes necessary to stick a hand in front of a vent to tell if it's running. We've lived in much newer houses designed for AC that were not this comfortable. In short, we cannot recommend them highly enough. Metro lists cooling houses with radiators as a specialty and their work for us clearly shows their expertise.

I requested a service call for my A/C unit and an estimate on replacing the A/C and furnace. Metro came out the same day. The technician recharged my A/C unit and stated that even though the unit is old, it was built like a tank and didn't recommend replacement. He recommended having the unit recharged as need and it should last us some years to come. He also determined that our furnace was only 10 years old and well built as well. I appreciated his honesty as we are budgeting several other large projects and don't the expenses to pay for a new HVAC system. Because of this technician's professionalism and honesty combined with Metro's ability to provide sameday service created a loyal customer out of me. I am signing up for their service plan. Metro epitomizes how all contractors should conduct business. Many could take a lesson from Metro.

A/C wasn't working. Found Metro on Angie's List. Called, Jack and Mark came out to the house that day and diagnosed our problem. They answered questions we had concerning our future needs as our furnace and A/C are over 20 years old and explained possible options. It was Memorial Day weekend, so we called them on Tuesday and told them to go ahead with the new condenser fan. They installed it on Wednesday. When we are ready for an updated system, I'm sure we'll give them a call. We were very happy with the professionalism and quick response as my husband can be a bear without his A/C. Thanks Guys!

Tom came in person to look, measure, and figure out where ducting would have to be run. Metro ran ducts in all sorts of clever places so it is not normally visible -- though the corners of closets for vertical runs, and though floor spaces and behind attic knee-walls for horizontal runs. The A/C system has performed flawlessly though some very hot weather; it keeps the entire house cool and comfortable, is quiet, and efficient. Metro's work on our old boiler has also been top-rate, including both normal service and replacement of part of the electrical control system. They are prompt, professional, courteous, and very skilled. Very highly recommended.

My 40+years old furnace stopped working the week of Good Friday. I called Tom and he came out on Good Friday and the crew arrived on Monday and installed the units. The crew was very professional and nice. They tried to do as little damage to my bushes as possible, since the ac was going there. They cleaned everything up.

The estimating and quoting was performed in a professional manner. The equipment was ordered on Dec 31 and installed on Jan 22 as promised. The installation crew on the job was on time, very skilled, efficient, and courteous. They performed the installation in a short time period and explained the operation of this new type of furnace. They even picked and swept up all refuse afterward.

Thankful for the heat. I was without heat with on a Sunday with 2 feet of snow on the ground. I called Metro at 11:00 AM and they were at the house by 1:00 PM. This is the second time I have called Metro on short notice where they have responded quickly, got the job done while being both professional and courteous. Thanks guys. I would not call anyone else.

I still use them. I came to know of them through Angie?s List. They come out to perform yearly maintenance. They also undertook cleaning of my furnace this year. They specialize in houses that have very little heat. That?s what I have, and that?s the reason I chose them. They are highly recommended.

They are excellent. The work was fantastic.

It was a pleasant experience overall. He arrived on time, answered all of my questions to my satisfaction, and gave me some tips for extending the life of my furnace. He showed me the filter assembly and told me when to replace it and where to get a replacement (my filter is different than the small filter screens that you typically see at home improvement stores). He also explained the condenstate collection unit and recommended maintenance since I was not familiar with this unit.

Initial furnace maintenance was done in late Sept. A thorough cleaning and evaluation was completed. I live out of state so had called on a Friday requesting this service be done on short notice and had a scheduled appointment early the following week. The repair person spent nearly two hours cleaning and inspecting and spent time explaining now the furnace worked, how I could perform monthly checks and needed maintenance of the filters, humidifiers, etc. A faulty electronic module was found and the part was ordered and installed in Oct. When the services were completed, I called to inquire about the repair and costs which were explained to me in detail. The people at Metro have been professional, helpful, and accommodating.

I am very pleased. I called on probably their busiest day of the season - the weather had gotten very cold and they were very busy with emergencies. It was for that reason that it took them a little while to get back to me to schedule the appointment and then had to reschedule as an emergency had come up elsewhere (that's why I didn't give them "A's" in the punctuality and responsiveness categories.) I was very pleased with their service. The serviceman was very professional and polite and did an excellent job - I appreciate his finding the ignitor was compromised - it saved me a good deal of money and future hassle.

First really cold day in winter, I go to turn on my heat and it doesn't work. Called a few companies and Metro could get to my house quickest, so I went with them. They came out, found the problem with the system and fixed it. It cost a little more than I had expected ahead-of-time but still well worth it for quickly getting my heat on. Will call them again in the future.

The estimator came on time and explained the options. He followed up with a written detailed work sheet and estimate by mail. This was in the fall, 2008. We signed an agreement for a spring 2009 installation. Metro called and installed as scheduled. Two things on our work sheet were not correct. The thermostat first installed was not programmable and a return vent in the basement was not installed. When I called and pointed this out, the errors were corrected within a week. The workmen did a good, neat job and were pleasant to deal with.

I met with Bill Weissner who assessed my house for the possibility of putting in AC in the attic and running flexible insulated ducting to the second and third floors of the house. The first floor already had AC but the unit is rather ancient, especially the condenser, which looks rather decrepit. Bill's solution worked well with our house and also took into consideration the possibility of the old AC unit dying. So rather than have to replace the inefficient unit later, he ran two ducts into the kitchen area which I have found already to be sufficient to cool the entire house this weekend even in rising August temperatures. The house is an old classic with plaster ceilings so the crew took care when they cut the ducts to use hand tools rather than power tools so the damage would be minimal. The flexible ducting took up a bit of space in a single closet on its way to the kitchen but the job is very neat and the closet is still useful and it's nice not having to worry about replacing the old unit when it finally goes. In order to have only one return we removed the door going to the third floor but I was going to do that anyhow. It's hot up in the attic so I kept bottled water in the fridge for the crew of which they availed themselves. Overall they were punctual, neat, friendly and my house is cool and comfortable. I would definitely recommended them and will use them for yearly service

Great-the problems were not with the unit itself, but with a poorly installed humidistat that overheated the wires and burned out the board. Metro correctly diagnosed the problem, and promptly fixed it.

Metro came promptly for service call. We already were fairly sure we needed new furnace and expected to pay around $3,500 based on a visit by a different vendor who we didn't like and didn't hire. Metro told us that the manufacturer of our furnace was offering a free replacement model due to a design defect. They only charged us for installation and some duct work. They didn't have to tell us about this offer, the other company we had out did not know about it or if they did, they didn't tell us about it. Metro did the work promptly, the bill was exactly what they described, no surprises. I would recommend them them strongly.

Though I initially had some gripes about scheduling, they turned out to be my unreasonable expectations. The job took a solid week and I don't think I understood the level of complexity that this job required--hence my unreasonable expectations that this be done in a day or two (oops). All of the crew members were respectful and worked hard to get the job done well. No muddy feet or horrible messes left behind. Every day, they made sure to let me know when they were coming and going and never seemed annoyed (though likely justified if they were) that I was always sticking my nose in what they were doing out of curiosity. After the initial install, some minor problems did surface, but they were all fixed at no additional cost. The original system did not have enough return air to keep the new furnace from suffocating and overheating (no damage, it would just shut down). Metro came back and built additional returns as well as added two new ducts. One zoning damper had some sort of malfunction (pinched wire?) and they also came back to sort it out. Finally, we had asked them to change over our gas lines as part of the initial project but we were not ready to move them. They told us to just call them when we were--so we did almost six months later and they came right out, did the work and were just as pleasant as they were the first time! Excellent service, the furnace and AC work well. Thanks Tom!
