Nothing short of exemplary!!! I have gutted and remodeled several homes and have significant experience with good (and bad) contractors. I don't normally take the time to review contractors (just too busy running a law firm and remodeling homes) but in this case I have to make an exception. In 2012, I bought an 1890's Victorian that was falling over. Despite severe neglect over the years, all the radiators were still functional. However, as with most old houses, there was no central cooling system nor was there any heat source on the 3rd floor. I needed a solution, and with winter approaching, I needed it fast. I had several heating and cooling experts come to take a look at the house and give suggestions. I made it clear that I wanted to maintain radiator heat in the places where it already existed and add HVAC to heat the 3rd floor and cool the entire house. Other companies tried to get me to remove all the radiators and switch to total HVAC, but Tom Wessner at Metro took a different approach. Tom came out to the house, looked around for about an hour, and instead of trying to sell me an easy install, he found the solution I was looking for. He recommended a high efficiency boiler made by Buderus which would provide heat to all the radiators. As a bonus, the boiler was also capable of heating the hot water for consumption (showers, sinks, etc.), radiant floor heat for the master bathroom, and the heat pump necessary for the third floor HVAC unit. In short, the system is amazing. Four people can take showers in my home and never run out of hot water, all while the house remains comfortably warm. In addition, the crew from Metro was very knowledgeable and professional. Once they began the job, they showed up every day until they were complete. As the house was going through a total remodel, there were different phases of the project. Metro was very accommodating and worked with me on scheduling through the different phases. Finally, the price I was quoted from Metro was better than all the competition and I am convinced that I received the best product and service from Metro. It has been approximately 2 years since the work was done. Metro has been out several times for regularly scheduled maintenance and the service has remained top notch. I waited so long to write this review so that I would have a long term perspective on the company. I can confidently say that I would not hesitate to use Metro for any future heating and cooling need. Thank you Metro and thank you Tom!

They did fine, I felt the price was a little high.

They did a really great job. They came up with some excellent solutions. He thoroughly explains what was going on . They are always on time and professional. All the equipment has worked really well. They did a great job with the installation.

They were very responsive and there were no troubles with scheduling. I did pay some additional costs for some of the regular maintenance supplies such as the filter and cleaning products. They were able to complete the work in one visit and left no mess behind. I thought that the cost was reasonable and comparable to others. It turned out really well. I have since hired them for additional work.

The service was fine. They arrived on time and did what they said they would do. I was satisfied.

We contacted Metro for an estimate to replace our A/C unit. An appointment was set, but had to be cancelled because the rep had to go on an emergency service call. Had no problem with that - things happen sometimes and our unit was operating OK so we weren't in an emergency situation. I was told the rep would call back to reschedule the estimate appointment. Three days later, I did not hear anything, so I called to follow up. I was transferred to the service department and talked with someone there who said he would have the rep call me either that day or the next day. I never received a call. Since we already had three estimates we were satisfied with, we never followed up again. The last time we had Metro provide an estimate (to replace another AC unit for another house we owned about 10-12 years ago), they were the highest priced option, but also offered the highest-rated/quality unit. I have no problem going with the highest priced estimate if the service and product quality makes it worth it. However, if Metro doesn't care enough about following up on an estimate request, then I question how well their service-after-the-sale will stack up. Needless to say, if we have any HVAC needs in the future, we won't contact them again, and I can't recommend them to others after this experience.

The technician responded quickly to a call about my air conditioner not functioning. Over the phone I was told there was an $88 diagnostic charge. He diagnosed the problem, which was a cut thermostat wire, and proceeded to repair the wire with two plastic electrical caps and electrical tape. That repair took no more than 2 minutes. I was not aware that this "service" would be charged extra because I was not informed of that at the time. It was a trivial job that I would have gladly done myself had I known I would be charged $45 additional for the wire repair. That's right: $45 for 5 cents worth of raw materials and 2 minutes of the technician's time to do a job that anyone with basic knowledge could have done. I should have been informed that this trivial repair was going to cost extra money beyond the diagnostic charge. Total bill of $133. In addition, the technician made no effort to avoid trampling a strawberry bed near the air conditioning unit. The unit is accessible without trampling but he proceeded to crush a number of healthy plants by not taking the time to observe that he was walking on manicured landscaping. Overall I was treated unprofessionally. Irate customer; will never deal with this contractor again.

Called Metro around 8 AM on July 2nd. Metro returned call within 10-15 minutes. Set up same day appointment with Noon to 2 PM window. This is huge because I believe that it was over 90 degrees yesterday. Metro actually called me again, to see if their tech could come earlier but I missed the call. Metro tech arrived ~ 12:10. Reviewed problem and replaced blown run capacitor and the A/C started right up. In/Out/Done. Repair complete, air conditioner's working and everyone's happy.

They were prompt and courteous.

They were okay. I did like the fact that they did not try to upsell me, they came and did what they were supposed to do and left.

The serviceperson was on time, knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. In addition to the regular maintenance of the units, he provided an evaluation of the current state of the two furnaces and an estimate for replacing one unit that was degrading due to a shoddy installation by the previous homeowners.

It was a great success. They were honest. The fix was more minor than originally anticipated. They were just friendly and quick. The price was average. They were pretty punctual.

Great! I rely on these guys for all of my HVAC work.

My husband and I bought a new home in the summer of 2012 and we wanted to have the heating units/furnace checked before we turned it on for the winter. The technician was thorough and good about answering all of my husbands questions. It was a pretty typical and routine appointment. Would recommend.

Great job in getting my water heater problem solved. Called Metro at 1:30 and had a new water heater installed by 4:00 the same day. I have also used Metro for all my heating (2 heaters installed) and (2 installed) air conditioning needs and they have ALWAYS been responsive, courteous, and a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend them after 20 years of great work with me.

I called at 8am and they were here by quarter til 9am to get my heat working again. I will definitely use them again in the future for my Heating & A/C.

I am very happy with the quality and service I got from Metro.. Tom arrived the day after I called him and gave me a bid later that day. His price included items that the other contractors did not such as replacing all the copper tubing instead of just blowing out the old tubing. Tom's price was good included name brand equipment. The crew could not have been better! They arrived at 8:00am as promised and hit the ground running. Three guys who really knew what they were doing. The job went smoothly and they cleaned up everything. All in all a very satisfactory contractor experience

It went well and the furnace is still chugging along.

It didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped. They said I had a cracked heat exchanger on the furnace. They did what they were supposed to though.

It's very easy to set up an appointment and the service went well.

At that time, a technician named Simon came to my home, fixed my furnace, and even shoveled my driveway since it had snowed while he was repairing the furnace. I was thrilled with the service and the price, and would recommend Simon to even my closest friends. Approximately one year later, however, my second furnace was having issues, so I again called Metro. The repair on my second furnace was not as simple as the prior experience, and Metro ended up coming several times, first to fix an issue with the humidifier, causing water to leak from the unit, but then to address a situation where the furnace would warm the house sometimes, then apparently shut itself down, only to warm again later. Initially, after saying he could find nothing wrong with the furnace, the technician said there must be ice in the intake pipe, which vented through the wall onto my back porch, causing the shutdown. I was with the technician at the time, and witnessed that he did not actually find any ice in the pipe, but accepted his explanation as the expert. Within a few weeks, my furnace was again doing exactly the same thing, only this time, it was not 5 degrees, but was instead 50 degrees outside. When I called Metro to come back out, I was told I would have another diagnostic charge and would have to pay overtime rates (I returned from travel on a Friday to find my downstairs at 58 degrees) for a Saturday service call. When I explained that a technician had already been out, but hadn?t fixed the problem, I was connected with Mark the Manager. At that point, I felt confident that I would be taken care of in a professional, respectful manner, but clearly Mark had skipped ?charm? school! He proceeded, in a very agitated manner, to tell me my issue sounded like a duct issue?insisting it wasn?t a furnace issue, and said the prior service (just a few weeks earlier for the same exact symptoms) was a furnace issue. I pressed, and although the conversation became agitated, he agreed to waive the overtime rate/diagnostic if the problem was a repeat of the prior visit. Long story not so short?The furnace required a new Inducer Unit, which Kevin, the technician, explained would absolutely cause my furnace to work sometimes and shutdown other times, just as it had when the prior technician (Jim) chalked the issue up to ice (which he never physically found). Kevin then left a bill which included the overtime diagnostic charge. I proceeded to call Mark, to protest the charge, and again was treated badly. He was abrupt, rude, and acted as if I was stupid, which I can assure you, I am not. I am highly educated, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master?s degree in Business Administration, and am a Manager myself. I would never dream of treating client?s the way Mark treated me, and although he reluctantly agreed, after arguing, to waive the diagnostic charge, his ?behavior? left a horrible taste, and will prevent me from ever using Metro again!

Very well. Men were prompt, courteous, and professional. Work completed in a timely manner. They cleaned up everything when finished and took away the old furnace and air conditioner. I would hire this firm again.

I didn't like the work provided to me by Metro Heating & Cooling Inc and I got a refund from them. They did not do the furnace inspection properly. The worker was friendly but incompetent, or was trying to pull one over on me. They did give me the refund though.
