I met the owner of this company in a social setting and conversation lead to my old home with boiler heat and the specialty work that METRO does to install AC in older homes with radiators. About a month after speaking with Bill, my pump started to go on my old boiler. The house began to heat uneven, and the unit was working much too hard. I called Metro and was nicely greeted with a woman on the phone who took all of my information. Due to me meeting the owner and speaking with him, I was fairly adamant to have him come and take the look at the house. I heard back from him that day and we set up an appointment for Wednesday of that week. He came and did the walkthrough of the house and basically told me I have two options if I'm looking for a new system. One unit being a basic boiler with an efficiency rating of 85%, costing approximately $4000. The second choice, a higher end model with some newer technology and a longer warranty. This choice was a water condensing boiler with an efficiency rating of 96% made by a Buderus. This model ran about 7500.00. I spent the rest of the day discussing with my girlfriend the options that we had and the money that we would be saving by going with the higher end model. We did choose the higher end. I called Metro that afternoon with my decision and he said they would be out the next day to do the install. 8 am the next day the trucks pulled up, a total of three workers. They removed the old system from the house and disposed of it. It took about eight hours for the install of the system. Keep in mind this is a completely different setup. The new unit hangs on the wall as opposed to being on the floor. They built the wall up to hold the boiler and replaced all piping needed for the switch. When it was all said and done at the end of the day you would have never know anyone was even at the house doing work. I would highly recommend the company and would call them again for further work. Next up central air!

I called to have a humidifier and programable thermostat installed. Tom was very flexible in the scheduling and accommodated me by coming early before I left for work. Within days two very professional men arrived, again before normal working hours, and went right to work. They thoroughly explained how to program the thermostat and then went to work on installing the humidifier. I left them in the basement and went to work. When I returned the unit was working perfectly and everything was cleaned up and neat. I plan to call them for yearly tune ups for my furnace and air conditioning. They certainly have my recommendation.

I purchase a deal for 69.00 to have my furnace clean and checked. I purchased the deal on Sunday, called the company on Tuesday and they came out on Wednesday. I thought something was wrong with my furnace due to the fact it seemed to be blowing mostly cold air so thought by purchasing the deal I would get more for my money then only having them for a house call. The service man arrive on time, made friends with my dogs, went to work quickly, then explained what the problems were. He explained the options, giving the price details for both options then reminded me there was 10% discount for Angie's list members. We made an appointment for them to come back to finish fixing the furnace. He arrived on time, fixed the furnace quickly and cleaned up after himself. I was extremely happy with the service I received.

Everything went smoothly. They were even able to take apart air handler and reassemble it in the attic as the opening was too small. They were fast and efficient and I would not hesitate to call them again.

I had some pressure problems with my home's boiler beginning on Friday evening. I called another well-known HVAC company with a "there the same day or you dont pay" guarantee. That company sent a rep out misdiagnosed the issue. The rep spent more time telling me why I would be better off replacing my boiler (for $12K!) than he spent inspecting/diagnosing the problem. Needless to say, his solution did not correct the pressure issue so I called Metro late Saturday night. The customer service rep took my info and a technician called me within 30 minutes. He explained that he wouldn't be able to come out until the next morning as he had other calls that he had to work. He asked me what the issue was with the boiler, what I had done to try to correct the issue, and the boiler specs. He was able to diagnose the problem over the phone and directed me to take a swing at fixing it myself. The suggestion (which turned out to be very simple) fixed my boiler within minutes and got our heat back up and running. I was thoroughly impressed with Metro's responsiveness and willingness to help despite the time of day. I feel bad that I paid the other guy for his "diagnosis" and the real help came from Metro who didn't charge me a dime. I'll bring all my future HVAC business to Metro and specifically to the tech who helped out when others failed, Jim. Thanks Jim. Travis

We got three estimates: one told us that we had no idea what we were in for and never got back to us (the job was too difficult?), Metro and another came in at about the same price. The difference between the 2, and why we chose Metro, was their incredible customer service. I had a list of concerns that I had and the owner responded to all of them, after our initial meeting. He clearly had extensive expertise and after considering the bizarre particulars of our older home, came up with a great solution that allowed me to keep my laundry chute and lose a minimum of closet space. The staff was considerate and cleaned up better than any other workmen we have had before. We spent last summer enjoying the new A/C with a minimum noise and blissfully cool!

Tech arrived on time. Very personable, informative guy. Answered any questions I had for him and explained anything I was not sure of.

This was a fabulous experience!! I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism of the men who installed the system. They were polite and were as unobtrusive as possible. I could not have imagined that the installation could have gone as smoothly as it did. Despite the fact that they had to cut numerous holes in the walls and ceilings, the mess was minimal. They cleaned up after themselves every day and were careful to put everything back that they had moved. The job itself was done very neatly and they did an excellent job of working around the constraints of a "quirky" stone house. As with any job on this house, things had to be reconfigured as they went along and found peculiarities in the construction. They took it all with a grain of salt and were pleasant. We have been putting off this job for several years because of the cost and the anticipated disruption to our house. If I had know how easy that Metro would have made the process, I would have done this several years ago.

Overall Metro is wonderful. I was very happy I called them. I have been ripped off so many times in my life that I was understandably afraid of who to go with. Thats the main reason I became an Angie's List Member. I will use Metro again!

I decided to use Metro (before signing up to Angie's List) because they are located near my house, BBB accredited with no complaints, and have some positive reviews on various other sites. I called for an initial estimate and was greeted by a pleasant woman. She quoted $89 for routine inspection and service for the weekday. This was my first service of this type and it seemed reasonable. Their nearest opening was approximately 10 days away, so I had to confirm that I could work the visit into my work schedule. I later scheduled the appointment. She said that the service man would arrive between 1 - 3 PM on the date of service. My wife and I were happy that the service man arrived at our house at 1:10 PM rather than making us wait too long. He greeted us at the door, confirmed the service to be provided, and brought his tool bag. We showed him to the boiler in the basement. He asked if we knew anything about the boiler. We did not. He proceeded to teach us all of the various components of the boiler. He walked us through his inspection and gave us tips and advice for what to look for, how to fix various problems, etc. He then turned the boiler on (first time for the season) and showed us how it functioned and tested all of the fail-safe mechanisms built in. He showed us how to adjust the pressure. Checked the gauges. Checked the temperature of all of the radiators (courteously asked if he should take his shoes off). Told us how to 'bleed' the radiators. Overall, fantastic experience. Very friendly guy and taught us a lot about our system. Felt like an honest man. Will definitely go with Metro for future maintenance and repairs.

I called last Saturday because my furnace didn't work. I waited most of the day for them to come. I was charged $140 for Saturday, which would have been fine if I was told. He said I needed a part and it would be in by Tuesday. Thursday I called them. They obviously forgot me. I had to live in a freezing house during the five days I was kept waiting. Of course the repairman came today, after I called. The work was good, but I am not going to use Metro again. The last time I used them, a guy said I needed a new furnace, it wasn't the guy who came today. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Metro was easy to contact and was quick to reply. Only wanted first floor fitted with a/c when I called for estimate in spring. Thomas explained to me their method for installing whole house without ductwork. Took awhile to decide because of price, but now could not be happier! Team doing installation arrived very professional looking and was sure to include me on decisions because of historic nature of home. Were all through the house doing work, but at end of day every room was cleaned and put back in place. With the nature of plaster, I expected damage to ceiling when they cut holes for vents, but was not half as bad as expected. It only happened on a few, and they patched what they could. Expected 5 days of labor, but only took 3. Team seemed very efficient and experienced in this technique. Cooling of house is so even I would have never expected it. Wish we did not wait so long.

Heath and Rich arrived at my house at 8:05am (I was promised between 8 - 8:30 arrival) and introduced themselves to myself and my husband. They asked to be shown to the AC inside unit and then to the AC outside unit. Heath then asked to be shown to the thermostat and explained that he thought that the refrigerant was low and the water I saw around the inside unit was the coolant on the coil that had melted when the refrigerant was low and had shut the unit down. I then went outside to tend to my plants and realized that Rich was in training and I overheard Heath instructing him as what he was doing step by step. He spent alot of time with these instructions and I felt confident that they were doing things by the book. Before I knew it, Heath was back inside and setting the thermostat where I wanted it. He then told me what the charge was and when I told him I found Metro on Angie's List, he gave me the 10% off. He was very interested in if I felt the service I had received was to my satisfaction. He then questioned me about how long I had waited for service in days because he said that Metro always tries to provide same day service. I was very satisfied with the service I received from Metro Heating and Cooling and especially from Heath. I would use them again and will recommend them to my friends.

Superb. The company that installed the heating system could not fix the problem and attempted to charge us to replace the entire system. We called this company to get a second opinion and they fixed a bad wiring problem!

They are on Angie's List and we got a big deal offer from them for an air conditioning inspection. For the service we got their price was excellent. I will use them again in the future.

During the heat wave they were not able to respond the same evening that I called. However, I called after 6:30 on a Friday night. Their answering service said I would hear from them in the morning, which I did. They were at our house by noon, and quickly resolved the issue with our A/C.

Their service was extremely good. They were prompt and did the work extremely well. The unit that they sold as a replacement was highly rated. It works as they described it would so we are really satisfied with the service. There was nothing that was not very good.

Everything went great! When I ordered the Big Deal, Metro called me to schedule a time. They did a great.

Getting an appointment went smoothly (though I had to wait a week or two to get a slot - the Angie's List deal I'd bought was quite popular), and the visit went superbly. The tech talked me through everything he was doing and was as professional, courteous, and helpful as could be. He even addressed my basic questions about how the HVAC in my house worked and what I could do to keep it running in tip-top shape. I will definitely be calling Metro again. These guys are great.

I bought this Angie's List 'Bid Deal' for my parents. Initially they were quite excited and made plans with the company to have the service provided on May 31st. However, my parents received a call, telling them that their service had to be postponed because there was a heat wave, and many people did not have air conditioning because of that. OK, they understood, and rescheduled for June 6th. However, they received a call from Metro Heating, that their service had to be postponed once again, due to shortage in personal, perhaps due to personal emergencies? At this point my parents began to be suspicious, but since the deal was already purchased they agreed to have it done June 22nd. When they arrived, they performed the service within less than a half hour, and informed my parents that nothing was wrong, no fluids needed to be added, etc. My Dad said that previously, fluids had always needed to be added, and he wondered why in this situation, where the 'package' had already been purchased, nothing needed to be done? Then, when he questioned the person about a new air filter, and the price for it, he was told it would cost 68.99. Problem is, when he talked with the woman on the phone who set up the appointment, and questioned her about the price of a new air filter, she told him it was in the 50's. And when he told the person doing the service that the woman on the phone told him the price was in the 50's, the man became indignant, and said the price is fixed and it is 68.99. My Dad bought the new filter, thinking that having someone else come out would cost them yet more, but wondering if Metro was being fair. Now, if the price is indeed fixed, shouldn't the woman who works for them, and answers their phone and sets up appointments for them, know this???? My parents are the few rare people out there who never lie to get a better price, don't cheat on anything, and expect the same from others. My Dad was left with a terrible impression of Metro Heating and Cooling, wondered if they had even performed their service adequately, and told me he would NEVER use them again. It takes a lot for my Dad to get agitated to that extent. I felt bad because I had bought this for them, and wanted it to be a good experience for them. That was our experience, and I am saddened by the whole thing.

The AC works again. Metro was punctual and personable. We will consider hiring them to replace the AC system in a couple of years.

They were offering a special deal for the maintenance check up of the air conditioner. They were prompt and exactly on time. The guy seemed pretty knowledgeable and he answered my questions right away. I don’t think I disliked anything about them. It was sort of a special advertised deal which turned out to be a going rate everywhere else. I would use their services again in the future.

My appt was made for the next morning and the employee was on time and went right to work. He cleaned and inspected the furnace wonderfully. He explained why we might be having the issue we were having and also gave us information about installing and AC unit on the furnace. He did not leave until all of my questions were answered and did not leave any mess when he was finished. I will use them in the future and was very happy with my experience.
