Husband called this company twice to request an appointment for estimate on new furnace and central a/c. First time left message said they would call back, never did. Week later husband called again, made appointment and the person never showed up. Husband called the office to see what happened. He had to drive an hour to this home we own in Pittsburgh from our home in Sharon, PA to meet the estimator. Office said, there was family emergency and "Oh did Mark forget to call and cancel his appointments?" Clearly not very organized or professional. Family emergency is one thing, if the office knows that then why didn't the office call to cancel his appointments? Would not use this company or call them for an estimate. Total waste of time, gasoline and not very sincere in their concern that they missed an appointment.

I needed to have two furnaces serviced and a third looked at because it wasn't working. I was surprised and pleased to be scheduled for the afternoon of the day I called (yesterday) and two technicians, each in his own van, showed up right at the start of the time window I had been given. The first service was quickly completed, the second revealed a cracked heat exchanger that another previous furnace serviceman had told me was just a leaking dehumidifier - the water inside at the bottom of the casing and rust under the heat exchanger told a different story. The repair on the third, 26 year old, furnace would cost half as much as a new furnace with no guarantee of the furnace continuing to run for any significant time period so I am thinking about a replacement. The heat exchanger of the second furnace was replaced today by two other very pleasant technicians. They worked quickly, which as the temperature outside was 7 degrees, was much appreciated. They were professional: polite but also friendly, and they seemed to work well together. It took about two and a half hours all told. I am considering having this company install the replacement furnace in the third property, and will call them for the service on all three furnaces next year. The price seems to be consistent with the pricing of other contractors on this list.

We love Metro Heating, we call them whenever we have a problem. All their technicians are kind, courteous, knowledgable, and professional. They give us recommendations on air filteres and I usually do what they suggest. We bought a new furnace with them a few years ago.

There were too many scheduling issues and I never heard back from them.

Upon inspection they noticed that I needed a part replaced that would have failed shortly into the season.

I have two furnaces and two ACs because of the size of my house, and both were inspected. I was told in detail what things needed to be done and was given options. Not only was I told what was needed, I was told how much each service or part cost, and was given options on whether or not I want a normal fix or a pricier fix. I was not coerced to take the more expensive option at all. It was too cold to inspect the AC at the time that the furnaces were taken care of, so they came back on their own when the time was right. I had different repair men each time, but all were friendly and professional. I will definitely continue to use them in the future.

I have been having service by Metro for the last five years, and have always been pleased. The same was true this year. They serviced the furnace and the day they were scheduled to come, the humidifier, which is just a bit short of being totally ancient, started leaking! A repair was attempted, but it became obvious that a new part was going to be needed. Due to the age of the humidifier, the part was not readily available, however, the following week one was found in their parts department, and a service man came out to install it. I was only charged for the part, not labor for the second visit. The humidifier is not easy to access, and I thoroughly expected to be charged for the labor, and would gladly have paid it. I will continue to use Metro for all my heating and AC work, and recommend them highly.

Professional and efficient.

My furnace broke on Christmas day. The next morning, I called Metro heating/Cooling from Angies list. Within 2 hours, Simon, the technician, arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had the necessary replacement part and soon we were good as new! Suprisingly, the bill was quite reasonable too! Metro Heating's quick response and fair price were a pleasant surprise compared to our regular heating repair company and we will definitely use them for all future heating/cooling service repairs.

Peformeds promised. We took so long to get around to this that it was time for a heating inspection rather than AC, but they would not switch it over, which is understandable

Our AC was not AC-ing...No cold air in the Pittsburgh Summer. Ugh. Tried diagnosisng myself, bupkis. Matt from Metro came out, looked at a few things, then showed me the compressor on the outside AC thingy. The top of the compressor was blown-up like a bubble (it's a little soup-can looking thing). Matt had one in the van. Replaced, rest and we were frezzing in less than an hour. Nice work.

They were very prompt and very professional. They cleaned the furnaces from both inside and outside. He made sure there were no cracks in the heat exchangers in both units. I was very impressed with his work. The price was great too.

It was a terrible experience, one of the worst ever. The company has a "special" whereby they supposedly "check" your furnace. We called this company ONLY because our usual HVAC man was on vacation, and the furnace was making an unusual noise. When the technician arrived, he did not introduce himself, but asked to be let into the area where the furnace is so he could begin his "diagnosis." Within less than 10 minutes, he told me abruptly that my furnace was "no good," and that I should be worried about carbon monoxide that can be "deadly." I pointed to the digital CO detector behind him which has always registered "0." I told him that this detector and the one upstairs were both relatively new and had come with great consumer ratings. Neither of the detectors had ever indicated even a hint of carbon monoxide, and were both fully functional. He shrugged and said that they were "cheap," and may be inaccurate. He also said that CO rises (not true---it is dense), and the gases would float upstairs into the living spaces with potentially lethal effects. He told me we had purchased a "cheap" furnace," and that, even though it was still under warranty, it would cost about $850 to replace it, due to labor costs. He also advised me that if I were to replace the furnace under warranty, I would only obtain another "cheap" replacement. His recommended solution was for me to purchase a "much better" unit from his company for a mere $3,000 to $4,000. Finally, when I asked him about the 16-point "furnace check-up" I was paying for, he told me that it was "useless" and a waste of his time to proceed, although he still charged me the "service call" fee. He could do nothing else until I purchased a new furnace!! The following week our regular HVAC guy was back, and checked the furnace. He found the problem and completed the repair in under 2 hours. Our total cost, including the service call and labor, was about $200 because the furnace still has a warranty. Our furnace is working perfectly again.

went well. tech was not satified w/ a part that they installed & will come back to replace free of charge. no problem w/ unit, just a precaution. part is on order, will call when part is in to install..

I was very happy with the level of professionalism. I was told immediately that I had to stop running my old furnace and get a new one. My house was for sale and I had seller's insurance which covered furnace replacement. I was informed that Metro did not accept my insurance and that I should go directly through the insurance company to find an HVAC company. Despite the fact that I would not be doing more business with them (insurance covering a furnace tops helpful workers), he still gave me a good deal of information about furnaces and efficiency and price range and such. I highly recommend this company for their integrity and professionalism.

My furnace was making strange noises and smelled like fire just before Thanksgiving. Metro managed to come over the same day I called them to evaluate the situation. I had 2 other companies come out as well to provide estimates. Of the 3 companies, Metro was the only company that pointed out that my heat exchange unit was cracked. (Potential Co2 issues.) Our furnace was covered under a home warranty and we could have gone with another group for a lot less money. However, the product that the home warranty wanted to install was of sub-par quality and I wasn't comfortable having an unknown company install a device in our home that could potentially kill us... That said, I am frugal and Metro came in dramatically cheaper than the quote from the first company. Several of my neighbors had used Metro and these referrals combined with their Angie's List reviews were very assuring. The installers were extremely friendly and efficient, and made sure everything was done in a very clean manner.

The service rep showed up when he said he would, did a good job, gave me an honest rundown of what he observed and what he recommends without trying to sell me something I didn't need or want. I will definitely call them for service in the future.

I bought this offer from Angie's List. I scheduled a date (took awhile to reach a live person rather than a machine) and they cancelled due to being busy with "real work". I confess, I was not very diligent in tracking them down to reschedule and they never again contacted me or seemed to care.

Great job. Professional, punctual, friendly and informative. The tech told me exactly what I had done and have me great tips on filters for my furnace and humidifier. He even gave me tips on how to protect my ac unit from debris.

I had a very old boiler that needed replacement. Called Metro for a quote which was in line with what I got from other contractors. Went with Metro because of their professionalism in their contract and their attention to local codes. After a little trouble finding a time that worked with both of our schedules I set up a time for the work to be done. They were on-site promptly and went right to work. Took them a little longer than expected and there was a little leftover mess on the floor, but I am happy with the overall installation. Would request a quote from them again without hesitation.

Was a little disappointed that they opted not to install the Nest thermostat I purchased. Wasn't clear if it was incompatible or if the service technician was just uncomfortable. In fairness, I wasn't there and only got the feedback via my wife.

The tech from Metro was knowledgeable, friendly, was happy to explain what he was doing, what he was finding out, educating me about my furnace. I have not seen this before from other heating/cooling companies. He did a thorough system check, vacuumed out the furnace motor. Told me my 17 year old furnace was a very good one, almost as good as his new Carrier models. Not trying to sell me a new furnace, in other words. We found that none of the other previous companies even touched the humidifier. The pad had not been changed in at least 12 years; it's supposed to be changed every year. He replaced it, charging $42. This seemed high, considering I was able to order 2 of them online for $12 total. However, next year, he will install my new filter that I bought, at no extra charge, during service check. I will call them again next fall.
