At first, I would have given this business a higher rating, but after experiencing subsequent problems with their work, my husband and I are not happy. They did a sewer liner for us, but didn't address all of the problems. Therefore it looks like we're going to need to have more work done, which we obviously would have rather done all at once. While the work may be less expensive than others, I think the adage of and quot;you get what you pay forand quot; definitely rings true. It's still not and quot;cheapand quot; by the way - $6,000 for a and quot;fixingand quot; a problem but not actually fixing it isn't really worth it. The biggest problem though is that the owner is incredibly unprofessional. He would not allow me to even ask about my problems and then stated that I was talking to him and quot;like a r*****and quot; on the phone. I could not believe the things he said to me - calling me and quot;crazyand quot; and and quot;ignorantand quot; (but meaning rude I guess since he clearly doesn't know what the word actually means) among a series of other jabs. He also hung up on me at least 3 times in 10 minutes. In the end, their work is sloppy at best (they literally leave sewage everywhere when they work), and I would never recommend this business to someone.

Their system to realign my sewer lines did not require them to tear up the streets. He was able to go through my lawn and save me the expense of going in to the street. He even planted and re-seeded my grass. It's all approved by the city and county. He showed up when he said he would and finished up when he said he would. The whole process took a little over a day. He saved me a lot of money.
Description of Work: I used McVay Plumbing in November. They realign cracked and damaged sewer lines.

I am in the process of selling my home and during the buyer's home inspection, the inspector determined a possible leak in the kitchen ceiling using infrared sensors. I contacted McVay Plumbing and they were able to come out to my house within a few hours of my 1st call. Mike was able to diagnose the source of the leak and repair it. [ Source was leak in one of two upstairs bathroom toilets- wax ring ]. Mike treated my home like his own, removing shoes before walking on carpet and cleaning and returning all items to their proper place. He took time to explain his process of elmination in diagnosing the source and showed me the defective wax ring once the toilet was removed. McVay's responsiveness and professionalism was A+++.
Description of Work: Diagnosed leak in kitchen ceiling coming from the toliet in one of the upstairs bathrooms. Replaced wax ring and re set the toliet which solved the leak problem.

First responder was unable to clear the septic line at all. Owner came out the next day with different equipment and cleared that line. Original responder returned that day to work on the inside clog. In the process, they removed the toilet and a bell trap cover. They were unable to clear the inside line. The toilet was replaced with a new seal, but it was not set properly (it wobbled) and was put back crooked. The bell trap also leaked. The original responder returned the following (third) day, reset the toilet properly, and reset the bell trap cover. Later that day, I purchased a drain auguer at Lowe's, and cleared the inside clog myself. We identified a leak at the tub drain, probably caused by the activity on the bell trap, and had to have a different plumber come to repair that.
Description of Work: Part of drain from house to septic tank was clogged. Backup caused toilet and bathtub to back up in lines in the house. Provider cleared septic line, but was unable to clear clog in the house.

We were selling our home and needed an estimate for a major plumbing job needed to close our house. We needed the estimate quickly since we were moving out of state in a few days. Mike came within 48 hours of our calling him. He came after work hours and gave us a detailed scope of work on site. His estimate was much better than others. We encouraged the buyers to hire Mike given his professionalism and excellent reviews on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Mike McVay provided a timely and much needed estimate for us during the final stages of selling our home.

They are very good. We use them periodically. They actually come out at least once a year because we did have a lot of plumbing problems. They are prompt. You can always get somebody to come out either the same day or the next day. Their rates are reasonable. They are very service oriented. They don't try to do anything they don't need to do. They just do what they have to do. We usually don't spend over a hundred bucks when they come. They did some major work for us once, but it involved concrete and everything. They are good on quality. We recommend them constantly. I use them a lot.

The job went smoothly and I would not hesitate to use McVay Plumbing in the future.
Description of Work: I used McVay Plumbing after water backed up through floor drain into laundry. They offered to respond the same day but were accommodating when I needed to reschedule for the next day. They quickly determined that the problem was a plugged sewer line, in two different locations, and not a complete blockage or collapsed sewer line. The blockages were quickly cleared(one outside the house and one inside). Only minimal clean-up was required and was immediately performed by the plumber, leaving no evidence that any work had been perfromed. I have used McVay Plumbing several times in the past with the same result.

The experience with them was good. They were on time. They did the work right. There was a problem and they came back and fixed it. One of the water conditioning pipes was not hooked up and it wasn't their fault. They didn't see that and so they came back and found the problem which was a puzzle. They fixed the initial leak. I don't know how much the cost was because I didn't pay for it. They were good. I haven't compared their prices to anyone else but I think it was the best price. I will use their services again in the future.

Won job by expressing a confident "can-do" attitude, even though not the lowest-priced bidder. Played games with scheduling, right up to the deadline, but satisfied the ultimate need. Layed new pipe where required, and lined other areas. Threw in some niceties, but they weren't cheap. Some finishing items were left courser than expected. Overall, though, as good a job as could be expected.

The beginning of the process -- getting the estimate and having him agree to it -- went very professionally. But the evening before he was to come do the work, McVay called to say he was two days behind and suggested that he would rather not do the job. He was apologetic, but that didn't solve the problem of not having the work done in time for the closing. After talking to the realtor and finding out that the buyer would agree to having money put into escrow for the water line job, I called McVay back and told him to come as soon as he could. At this point he said he wasn't sure when that would be, making it clear that he had more important (larger) jobs to do, so I again got some other estimates and chose another firm.
Description of Work: McVay gave me a very reasonable bid for replacing the water line to the house I was selling and agreed to do the work before the closing, as specified by the buyer.

Came out for an estimate, was suppose to fax it over. I waited a few days, called back spoke to secretary, said he'd fax and then call to confirm we got it. Did not get any fax, called back a few days later to find out not interested in any job out that way. I think we at least deserved a call back instead of having to chase him down multiple times.

Overall it was fair. The weather did not cooperate with me at all - it was very rainy. When they did show up however they were professional and efficient. Again, though, looking at other reviews - Mike charged me as if he did the excavation which he did not. I tried to discuss this with him but he would not reconsider. Mike gave me a written estimate for replacing the sewer line which would be $600 if he did not have to dig (he did not). He then charged me $2200 to lay the gas line - we had originally discussed him doing the gas line and the water line which was to total $2200 - we ended up not doing the water line and he only deducted $300 off the bill. So I feel really ripped off. This whole job cost me $2500 and was really overpriced. I must have SUCKER tattooed on my head!!!
Description of Work: Mike replaced two terra cotta waste lines from the house and replaced them with PVC - about 105 feet of pipe. He also replaced the old metal gas line with plastic hosing. He did not do any excavating - I had a separate contractor already working at my site do that. SO, the work was done satisfactorily but I think he really overcharged me. All he had to do was show up and lay down the pipe.

Very disappointing. We have used them in the past and the service was outstanding but in this case, he had extreme difficulty, he was not able to fix it, he broke our soap dish, told us he would come back the next day and he had us waiting all day till he came at 4. I would still stand behind the company, but only if they sent someone else to do the work.

Everything went very well - he had to replace some more parts of the pipes than he original thought. The estimate was "under 200" and the final bill came to $250. On Sunday when I had to call him with the emergency he responded right away to my phone call and showed up very fast. On Tuesday we had an appointment for 3pm, he called at 3:20 that it will be another half hour until he comes. (Delays from previous jobs on that day can happen, but I'm very happy that he called, most others just wouldn't show up).
Description of Work: Had to call him on Sunday to fix the leaking pipes and faucet on my sink. He repaired on Sunday the shut off valve so that I at least can turn the main water on again. He recommended getting a new faucet since repair of it would be almost as expensive as a new one. We agreed that I get a new faucet for the bathroom (and for anther bathroom where the faucet leaked) and that he would come back two days later to put them in (he would have come right away next day, but I didn't have time that day). He came two days later and replaced both faucets. It took him 2.5 hours as he had estimated.

The person I spoke with on the phone scheduled the work promptly. The man who came to do the work arrived about an hour later than expected. He completed the work in 15 minutes. The total cost reflected a $16 service call charge and a $50 labor charge. That suggests that the labor cost per hour must be $200.

Overall, the work was satisfactory. He arrived on time (actually early) and was very professional. He briefly explained the issues once examine the problems. The only issue I had was with cost. When I called for the appointment, I was quoted $56 hours for the first hour and $52 for additional hours. The bill game to $17.20 in material and $217.00 in labor(he was here 2 hours). The plumber did not explain the labor cost, so I had to call the company to find out why it was so expensive. They also charged a "travel fee" which I was not quoted when I called for pricing.
Description of Work: Toilet in basement was clogged, plumber said that there was a clog in the line, so he had to use the sewer machine to unclog. We also had a leak in a pipe in the garage that was broken at the elbow joint. He looked at and fixed quickly with pieces that he had in the truck. Both items are working fine.
