Matt Mertz Plumbing Trenchless Sewer Repair Expert

After the last heavy rain my garage flooded and after it was cleared I noticed it continued to flood after taking a shower or doing laundry. I called Matt Mertz and they sent a plumber who snaked the sewer line, he did not have a video camera, but the sewer seemed clear though he noted a lot of roots. I called and requested someone to come with a camera which they did the following week and the camera revealed a sizeable blockage which couldn’t be removed with a snake. The next step was to use the Hydro-Jet to try to remove the blockage which was tree roots, but this was unsuccessful and eventually they had to excavate a section of the sewer and replace it. All the Matt Mertz employees were very prompt and professional and did an excellent job.

MMP came through for us on very short notice! We noticed a leak coming into our basement from our main water line of our home mid-afternoon on Saturday. We contacted MMP right away, and within a few hours Matt Mertz arrived at our home, accessed the issue and presented us with a reasonable estimate to do the repair work. Matt and his crew arrived early Sunday morning to repair the water line. They had to dig up approx. 10 ft outside of our home to expose the water line to begin the repairs. If our water company had been open on the weekend to inspect and turn on our water, MMP probably would’ve been able to complete the entire scope of the work on Sunday. But they had to return again on Monday to have the water line inspected and fill in the area they dug up. I’d recommend to anyone to give MMP a chance to address all of your plumbing needs. Beautifully! The plumber (on schedule) came to ***** the problem. He suggested that we purchase our own new faucet, so that we could choose a style we liked most. When we had the part in hand, we called to set a time for installation. We had no problem setting a convenient time. On the day of the installation, the plumber had said when he would come ("between 10 and 2"). Early in the afternoon he called to say hi might be a bit late, as another job was running longer than expected. He called when he was on his way--still within the original time schedule. He did the job in a neat, orderly manner. When he was done he cleaned up, including taking away the old part and the box from the new part, and explained the manufacturer's warranty. We paid him by check, and he left. The faucet is now working fine.

Last Saturday our 9 year-old 40-gallon Rheem water heater sprang two leaks (and don’t these things always happen on week-ends?). Having turned off the unit and its water supply, I called the 24-hour number of Matt Mertz Plumbing, with the quality of whose work I have prior experience. A very pleasant woman answered the phone and, after listening to a summary of the situation, assured me that I would be called by a plumber the next morning. As promised, at 7:45 Sunday morning I received a call from one of Matt’s plumbers, discussed the situation with him, and, at his request, texted him several photos of the water heater and the basement steps. A little over an hour later, Rory, Matt’s plumber, and his colleague, Brian, showed up and promptly went to work, removing the Rheem, reconfiguring some water pipes, and installing a Bradford White water heater and an expansion tank. Rory and Brian worked efficiently and were exemplarily courteous. In addition, Rory patiently and thoroughly explained the workings of the new water heater to me. I was unfamiliar with Bradford White water heaters, but so far ours is working very well. To be sure, and as I expected and understood, there was a surcharge for a weekend call, but, for several reasons, the situation had to be addressed ASAP, and Rory and Brian did so in a thoroughly satisfactory, professional fashion. Based on my experience, I recommend Matt Mertz Plumbing without hesitation or reservation.

It went very well. Earl from Matt Mertz did a thorough job and explained his findings about the condition of the storm drains. He provided us a reasonable and responsible proposal in order to alleviate our storm drainage problem.

We had a home inspection on a house we are buying. During that inspection it was discovered that the house trap on the main sewer line was broken. I called to get an estimate on a repaire so that as soon as we had our closing in two weeks we could have the work done. The person I talked to keep insisting that they charged $250 for home inspections and I keep saying that I didn't want or need a home inspection. I wanted a repair. He had trouble with this concept. He told me that if I owned the house the estimate would be free. But, I can't use the plumbing until this is fixed so I would like the work done as soon as I take possession, thus I want to get estimates now. He ended up saying the estimate would cost $250 and IF we decided to have them do the work they would credit it to me. Why would I want them to do the work?! Two other plumbing companies have already given me estimates - for FREE.

Tim was great! He found the source of the leak and did excellent work in a tight and awkward space. He was professional, found the problem quickly, and did a great job of minimizing the damage. He was somehow both thorough and fast. Definitely calling these guys next time I need a plumber, and definitely asking for Tim.

WOULD NEVER USE ANOTHER PLUMBER! SIMPLY THE BEST. First the guys came out and cleaned the clogged drains, then received a free video showing the terra cotta pipes deteriorating. We agreed to replace all terra cotta under my basement floor and out to the new septic pipes. The team arrived as expected and finished the job in record time. They jackhammered the basement floor across the entire basement, replaced the terra cotta, and then re-concreted the floor. They did an AMAZING job of cleaning up! They were on their hands and knees cleaning the floors! they did all they could to mitigate the dust. This is the third project I have used Matt Mertz for in a full home remodel, and honestly, would never call another plumber. I’m impressed that they treat my home as if its their own. They are professional, honest, courteous and fast workers.

Had to install new access point. 10 ft horizontal underground pipe conpletely clogged. They got it freed up and flowing - completed same day I called.

I called to have an outside faucet replaced, as it would no longer completely shut off. I called and scheduled an appointment between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. I received a call around noon that the plumber was at another job that was taking longer than expected. I was able to reschedule for between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM which allowed me to run other errands and be back before 3:00 PM. Shawn called again to let me know when he was on his way, which was appreciated. I explained that the outside faucet would no longer completely shut off, and that the value inside that I had closed was only 98% effective since there was some dripping of water outside. He not only replaced the outside faucet, but also installed a new value on the water line inside and did a good job of placing a putty-like substance around where he had worked to replace the value and the water line. This was also appreciated, as I have an older home that was probably built 70+ years ago before modern drills, and some holes end up being too big after work such as this is done. I had a positive experience and will call Matt Mertz Plumbing Inc again in the future.

We got a prompt response for an estimate which was by far the most reasonable for the work. The work was schedule shortly thereafter. The work was completed in less time than we expected and exactly as we specified. Extra care was taken to minimize the dust from breaking up the concrete floor. We have used Matt's service before and have never been disappointed.

My basement had been taking on water so I called Matt Mertz plumbing to make sure my french drains weren’t clogged. The technician came out and identified pretty quickly that the issue was much worse- I needed an interior french drain and sump pump installed. He gave me a quote and I scheduled the work to be done a few weeks later. The guys from Matt Mertz were awesome. They found more water issues on the other side of my basement, so the job was bigger than expected. They still finished with al of the work in 7 days- a few days ahead of schedule. I can’t say enough about their professionalism and great work.

Wont use again. The service would have been ok had they not destroyed one of my sprinkler pipes and wouldnt fix it because it was in their contract that they are not responsible for any damages. Another issue was that they charged me $89 to do a camera for the down spout and said they would credit me if i used them to do the project (i.e. gravel pit and clear blockage). i did use them, but they didnt credit me the $89. They said they gave me a discount and that the $89 went towards that...i'll have to use that "discount" to now pay someone to come out and fix the sprinkler pipe that they broke. Won't use again

We had water backing up into our kitchen and onto our floor. I called up Matt Mertz around 9pm and they said it would be no problem, they would have Tim contact me soon. Within 10 minutes, Tim called me and I provided him with the details. He said it was probably a blockage in the main and that he would come out and take a look at it. Within an hour, Tim was at the door. He was very friendly, despite the late hour. We talked a bit about what was happening and he discussed some of my options. Tim grabbed the super vee and started snaking it down the drain. He ran that snake down into the basement and after 20 minutes he was pulling out a rag that was lodged in our drain causing the problem. He then tested it by running a large amount of water from the 2nd floor to make sure nothing was backing up. It worked out that we were in the middle of a kitchen reno. All the cabinets were out and the room was empty. Tim then asks what type of sink we were installing and if we were installing a garbage disposal. I told him it was a farmhouse sink and yes, we were installing a disposal. He said, you have to move that main down, it will be too high with the disposal. We did some measurements and talked a bit more about it. He takes his tools and heads out to the truck and comes back in with the bill and a drawing, labeling everything that I need in order to get the drain moved. Honestly, this is the 2nd review I've written in my life. The first was for a giant eagle check out clerk who ran forgotten groceries out to me in a tsunami. I requested a 2 person team and described that our stackable washer/dryer needed to be moved in order to get to the access panel for the tub. They sent 1 person who charged me for a service call to tell me that I needed to have the washer/dryer moved before he could do the work. I called and complained and was told that I would get a credit for the service call when they came back to do the work; however, they would not move the appliances. Therefore, I called another plumber who had a helper to do the work and was never reimbursed for the service call from Mertz. I would not trust this operation.

Rob called when he was on his way to my home; and called again when stuck in traffic knowing he would be late. I appreciated the update. When he arrived he got right to work snaking the drain to my septic. He found and cleared the blockage within minutes. He recommended a free video inspection to ensure the blockage wasn’t due to roots or something more serious in the line. I HIGHLY recommend making Matt Mertz your Plumber!

We have had nothing but positive experiences with Matt Mertz. They identify the problem, present an estimate, schedule repair, all in the same day. They show up on time, work non stop and deliver a degree of professionalism that I have never experienced otherwise. Since moving, we’ve had 7-8 different Matt mertz guys in for various problems and each one is fantastic.

Would highly recommend, we had a great experience. So happy with Chris, he came out and fixed an issue we’ve been dealing with for awhile. He was very knowledgeable and professional, explaining what he was doing as a fix and tips to help prevent it in the future. How did today go? In a word - fantastic. Shawn reinforced the reason today that Matt Mertz Plumbing has been the only company I call for my plumbing needs. Not only is everyone knowledgeable, personable, and professional - they are honest. There are never any fears that the work is being artificially inflated or being done halfway. I can be comfortable asking their opinion and knowing the recommendations provided are what would be done on their own personal jobs.

Everything went well. They arrived when they said they would. They completed the job quickly. The pricing was very reasonable. This is a big plus.

I called to make an appointment for a repair and requested that they send 2 people because we knew that a stacked washer/dryer needed to be moved in order to get to the access panel for the plumbing. The scheduler made the appointment, but she sounded hesitant, so I called back and requested a different appointment for a time when 2 people could come. Again, she hedged, so I called a third time to have her confirm that 2 people would come. She assured me that the plumber they sent "would be able to do what needs to be done," which sounded to me like he would call for a helper if he needed one. She never said, "our plumbers don't move appliances." The plumber came and said he could not move the washer/dryer and that we would have to hire someone to move them. We paid the $135 service call minus the $15 coupon for a total of $120.00 for this information. I called to complain about this and was told that Matt Mertz plumbing does not move appliances. I asked why I wasn't told this when I scheduled the repair, & he felt that the scheduler probably didn't know this. He said we would have to get the appliances moved and then he would take $120 off the job after they came back and did the work. I felt that their advertising indicated that they did big jobs and that this was deceitful. I did not want to pay movers and then pay plumbers. I found a plumber who had a helper and used them instead of calling Mertz back. I would not put my trust in this operation.

We had substantial basement flooding during heavy rains. Mertz’ solution has completely eliminated the problem. His team was professional, flexible, communicative, thorough and really fast.
