Jim B. came out to give us an estimate. He's also the one who did the work. He clearly knew what he was talking about (unlike other companies, where as soon as they arrived they called someone to describe the setup, sent pictures, etc.). We originally thought the best solution for us would be a tankless water heater. Jim assessed the situation, figured out what needed to be done to properly install a tankless, and gave us his recommendation to use two 50 gallon tanks set up in parallel, with a mixing valve above them. He gave us an estimate for both systems, and we decided to go with his recommendation (which was less than half the price of the tankless). Before I committed I had a few questions for him. At first I had trouble getting a response, leaving a message with the secretary a few times. When I told her I still hadn't heard from him, she said there are two Jims. I told her my estimate said Jim B. She called him with the message and he returned my call later that day. He gave me his cell phone number, and after that I had no problem reaching him. He answered all of my questions knowledgeably. He also replaced our recirculating pump, and he put in a thermometer to help us recalibrate the temperature. Very satisfied.

For a huge messy job, they were incredibly quick and clean. They were incredibly friendly and took great care to not make a mess bigger than necessary. I don't know how else to put it, except I would not hesitate to use them for a big plumbing project. There price is fair, plus they have they are large enough if they run into problems they have the personnel to quickly add to job. Which happened to us, and did not change the estimated price. We would definitely use them for our next big plumbing project.

My water tank valve was leaking all over the floor. Matt Mertz sent a technician out in just a few hours. The technician, Bob Ladie, was polite and professional. He explained everything that needed done and prepared a quote for me before we got started. I used their coupon to save a few bucks, too. It was quick, tidy, and he was outta here in less than an hour. I've used Matt Mertz in the past and always find them to be thorough and professional. They aren't the cheapest guy in town, but that's ok. They do the job right and I find their rates to be fair and the work is guaranteed for a year. I will use them again.

The problem turned out to be accumulated black sludge that finally backed up yesterday. We called Friday evening, and got an appointment window from 8AM to 12NN Saturday. We were first in line Saturday morning, and the problem was fixed by 9:15AM. They left the area clean, which was quite a job. Excellent work all around. Thanks to Jim! I felt bad he got hit with black sludge on his first job of the day.

Adam was able to clear the clog with his snake and then look at the situation with his camera. The cast iron trap was clearly breaking down but not collapsed, so they did not need to replace it immediately and suggested we call them again when it clogged again (which he expected it to). He quoted an estimate of $5-6K to replace the trap, so we knew what to plan for. We had a coupon for the drain clearing ($65), but because Adam was so thorough explaining everything and then showing us the condition of the trap and pipe out to the street (which fortunately looked fine), we were happy to pay the regular price ($89) plus a tip.

It was a lot of money, but plumbers in the city are expensive. Very good service, very capable and pleasant, but very expensive.

The person on the phone told me what was and was not included in the promotion I was calling about, and quoted a rate for additional labor. Our plumber was Brian Tarr -- he was GREAT! He was very personable and had extensive experience. He showed up this past Saturday as scheduled to examine our issues and provided what I judged to be a very good assessment and a very reasonable estimate. He showed up today also (as scheduled) and repaired all three issues in a little over two hours. The most time consuming part for him was the replacement of drainage piping that was located behind wall-board -- which required cutting of piping and wall-board.

The technician was Brian Tarr. Both issues were resolved quickly and painlessly. Brian was friendly and prompt. Will definitely call again!

They set us up with an appointment the following day from my calling for service. They gave us a window of between 12 and 8 pm. since they were booked that day. Brian Tarr, our plumber called around noon and said he was in the South Hills and would not be there until around 3 pm if we needed to go out for something He was there as he said at 3 pm, was able to replace the faucet with a new one in about 20 minutes. this was the fourth time we have used this company and every time have been pleased with the service and how we were treated..

Steve A did an excellent job installing the toilets. the work was performed in a professional manner, and in a shorter period of time that I expected. He left both bathrooms cleaner that they were before he came.

The project went smoothly and as planned, it took 3 days, including the pouring of the concrete and finishing the driveway. They were able to basically replace the line with only having to cut a 4'x3' access hole in the top of the driveway and use their trenchless line replacement system. Dan and Jessie were detailed with their explanations of what they were doing and kept us apprised of the project as it progressed. They were professional and efficient in getting our drain back up and running with minimal disruption to us during the day. I would recommend to others, and hire again Matt Martz Plumbing for any future needs that may arise.

Originally was thought they would not need to pull the water line, when it was discovered the line was too corroded, he had the line pulled but still honored the original quote he gave to me.
