Description of Work: I called Matt when another contractor backed out of my sewer hookup job because he quoted me for a pump that the township wouldn't accept. After talking to Matt for about two minutes on the phone, I could tell that he knew what he was talking about and had plenty of experience. His crew showed up on time and did a great job. They hit a few snags based on how the old septic was hooked up to the house, but he explained everything really well and gave me an updated quote prior to starting any of the additional work. Matt is definitely on top of my list for who to call with any plumbing work.

Description of Work: Caalled to scheddule an appointment for plumbing work, hot water heater after extremely high prices were quoted from another plumber. The person answering the phone would not schedule until I had spoken with Matt.Initial call was made early in the day on January 7th. I was told that I could not speak to Matt until he returned to the office.My phone call was not returned until 9PM at night, by a message being left on a cell phone. This continued for 2 days until I made a decision to contact another plumber. The person answering the phone was given both my cell and work phone numbers. When I asked if I could speak to MAtt early in the day, I was told that he would be given the message. A poor way to do business. I have contacted another plumber and received prompt, satisfactory, and reasonably price service.

Description of Work: They installed a new faucet on my wash tub. It required a good deal of new copper piping which is why I decided to hire a professional. Friendly folks on the phone and on site and a great professional job at a fair price. That's all you can ask for. I'll use them again.

Description of Work: Remodeling our home. Matt Mertz Plumbing ran plumbing upstairs for a powder room. Sink, toilet, drain, vent etc. There was no powder room previously. Also they relocated kitchen sink and plumbing and eliminated a vent stack that went through our roof. Every other plumber I had estimates from had problems with where to run water lines and vents. One wanted us to speak to our architecth or engineer and verify restructuring floor joists etc. My wife and I met with Matt on 2 occasions, he was punctual, and very knowlegeable, and didn't forsee any problems or obstacles. had a very Can-Do attitude. We contracted to have the work done, and Matt brought over the two employees that were going to do the work. Jim and Jake are great plumbers. Explained everything they were going to do, where they were going to run water lines, drains etc. Lucky for us they were able to conseal everything within our walls, not an easy task for a home built in the 40's. They were clean, polite and puntual. Overall a great experience. They completed the work on schedule, took care of our Allegheny County Rough-In inspection. We will reccomend them, they are coming back to do the finish work -set toilet-sinks dishwasher etc. Lisa was a joy to deal, with on the phone and the internet. Quick to answer questions and forward the inspection etc.

Description of Work: Matt Mertz Plumbing responded to my request for emergency service which I made at 7 am on a Monday morning. One of the company's plumbers repaired a broken pipe (which had been preventing us from using any water) several hours later. A big relief! The following week the same plumber (Hunter) replaced an old toilet with a new one. The new toilet was one of his suggestions and I'm very pleased with it. Excellent service; thanks!

Description of Work: Discovered this morning that our hot water tank was not working. Called for help and was told that someone would be at our home between 2p to 4p. They would call when they were on the way. They called and arrived at 315p. They carry a good brand of hot water tank. We already knew what it would cost and had a $50.00 off coupon from Angie's List to apply to the bill. We also had the expansion tank replaced. Within fourty minutes the job was done. We were concerned about getting the old tank out as it had to be taken out through our family room. We have very expensive wall to wall carpeting down on the family room floor. The men got the tank out without a problem. I would highly recommend this plumbing company. Two thumbs up!!!!!!

Description of Work: I used Matt Mertz Plumbing this week. He repaired a pipe, put in a new vanity laundry sink, and he moved the old vanity laundry sink out to the garage.

Description of Work: Matt arrived at the time he told me he would be here. We have a problem with tree roots clogging our downstair drains. He and an assistant worked diligently and cleared two clogs and resolved the problem. He was very respectful and knowledgeable. He didn't try to up-sell us on anything. Unfortunately, last year before I became an Angies List user, we used a plumber who advertises on TV a lot...and what a mistake that was. Very hard sales tactics attempting to up-sell us on work we didn't want. I am so happy to find someone who does a good job at a fair price and has intergrity!! Thank you Matt!!

In coordinating the initial site visit and repair, Matt replied to my voicemail and email within a few minutes each time. Customer service is obviously priority number one to Mertz. The repair was complex and Matt managed to complete it within a few hours. While it would have been easy to give up given the complexity, Matt stubbornly kept working on the problem until the system was once again in working order. Thank you Matt. Great work.

Description of Work: Matt Mertz Plumbing exemplifies what makes Angies List so valuable. Prompt, couteous, and and professional. I didnt have an emergency but we could not use our water. I called late in the afternoon and they apologized for not being able to come that same day. They said they would arrive between 0800 and 0830 the next morning and they arrived at 0815. A hole was necessary in the wall to get to the problem and the "pro press" made short work of the faulty pipes and they were finished. I highly reccomend Matt Mertz Plumbing for all plumbing services you would need.

Description of Work: I am very pleased with Matt's service team this evening. It was a small job, but the overall experience was very professional. We got home around 4 PM and the pipe in the external garage was busted and water was spraying everywhere. I managed to turn the water off from the street to the house, but didn't know how to turn it off from house to detached garage. I called Matt's office. His secretary said Matt would call me back...he did minutes later. I explained the situation and he said someone would be there in an hour. Brian arrived an hour later installed new ball valve in garage and house, drain for basement and fixed broken water line. It took less than an hour and we couldn't be happier. He will now be our plumber and living in a 110 year old home I'm sure we'll see them again.

Description of Work: I had a sudden clog of my main sewer drain. My fiance and I had a wedding to go to that afternoon (problem found/occured at 10 am). I have heard amazing thing about Matt Mertz plumbing so I decided to call him. To my surprise he said he understood my predicament and that although he was unable to himself personally (wow!) come out at that moment, he would send a crew out asap. They were there within 1 hour, did the job perfect, and I made it to my wedding on time. They even made sure to clean up all the mess in the garage and driveway from the clogged sewer drain. Simply put.....GREAT work, Great plumbers, and a GREAT owner to deal with. They were very professional and I would use them again in a heartbeat, and have advised everyone I know this same thing.
