Description of Work: They removed an inadequate dry well that was supposed to accept rain water from an 800 square foot roof and replaced it with a larger one (3ft deep, 4ft wide, and 28ft long) in a better location in the front lawn, and reconfigured the downspouts. There were also a couple of small jobs that involved fixing problems with our concrete walks. | |The crew was excellent in every way: technical knowledge, punctuality, neatness, and a pleasure to deal with. When they finished the job the lawn looked like they were never there (or at least it will when the grass has fully grown). | |There was one glitch in the process: The contractor would have gotten part of the job wrong had I not been watching their work. When I reminded the contractor of the specs, it was immediately corrected. (Of course you should always be watchful when having a job done. I've often found mistakes made by contractors.) | |I looked at three other contractors for this job. One never showed up; another, under questioning, seemed not as knowledgeable; and the third wanted almost twice the price.

Description of Work: They tried to burn out tree roots in external sewer pipe with chemicals. No luck after several attempts. Dug up damaged ceramic pipe and replaced with new PVC pipe. Job was done for less money than Roto Rooter or Mr. Rooter, neither of which wanted to give us a quote, just a general cost range, which could have end up quite high. We felt very comfortable with Matt and his crew.

Description of Work: Experienced drain backup on morning of 12/30/14; called five plumbers - Matt Mertz Plumbing (MMP) was the ONLY one to resond and plumber Chris responded within an hour and a half. Power-snaked sewer line and located major blockage about 70' from house close to township sewer line; opened enough to create some drainage; ran See Snake video probe and verified old terra cotta sewer line with tree root blockage. Suggested that old line might need to be replaced. Told him to go ahead. He called office, gave me a written price quote and arranged for crew to be here following morning. | |MMP also arranged for township crew to arrive early AM to determine if problem area was their responsibility or mine - determined that old terra cotta line was totally clogged with tree roots beyond their jurisdiction. Told MMP to procede. They got to work immediately and while Ron dug the 75' long/3' wide/8' deep trench with their backhoe, Steve followed right behind constructing the new trap and sewer line. They had to hand shovel the last 10' or so to connect to township sewer line and completed connection by late afternoon. Since next day was New Years Day, and completed work needed sign-off by township inspector before filling in trench, they couldn't complete work until 1/2/15. Following inspection, they showed me the clogged and damaged sections of old line (solid as a rock!) and then spent several hours filling in the trench and compacting soil using the backhoe shovel. They then used power compactor to tamp down soil. Replaced fence section (including footer) that was removed to provide access for backhoe, raked all loose soil and left everything in good order. Note: All work was performed on days where temperature was in high teens/low twenties! | |To sum up, we are exceptionally pleased with all of the work performed my MMP. They were all pleasant hard-working professionals and had all of the right equipment, supplies and skills to get the job done efficiently. This was an expensive emergency repair project but we feel that it was completed as promptly and efficiently by professionals who knew their stuff at a fair price. We would highly recommend Matt Mertz Plumbing!

Description of Work: Installed a new kitchen sink and fixed a leak in the shower. They were right on time and very professional. Would use them again.
