Description of Work: Called and emailed approximately six different times. Several times was told to wait for better weather, once had scheduled an appointment and he didn't show up, twice called and was told I would receive a call-back which never came, and twice left messages without ever receiving a return call.

Description of Work: "Provider" did not return phone calls to schedule an appointment for service. When contact was finally made (by me, 3 months after purchase)) an appointment was scheduled with the "provider". On the day of the appointment, the "provider" never showed, made contact, or answered my call.

Description of Work: I called service provider on May 11. Service provider called back once in May to say he would come out to give an estimate but that he was busy and work could not be done until middle of June or early July. He never came out to give estimate and I have not heard from him since. I attempted to reach him by phone & e-mail but got no response. Numerous recent complaints on provider's site on Angie's List show similar problems.

Description of Work: Three months ago, I purchases an Angie's List deal for 6 hours of wood restoration/repair. A few days later, I was initially contacted by the company with a "welcome" and told they'd be following up in a few days to schedule an appointment. In that time, I have not heard anything from them, despite trying to contact them on a dozen different occasions via phone and e-mail. Today, I tried one more time, only to hear that the voice mailbox at 412-737-1096 is full.

Description of Work: Jim of JP Construction promised to return call to set up time for a view of work that needed to be done. After several unreturned calls, Jim of JP Construction responded to a text message but never showed up as promised. If a potential customer has to repeatedly call and track the contractor, then I think it's best to cut them loose and find a different company. Very unprofessional. No where close to providing the services advertised in their promotional ad.

Description of Work: I ordered two Big Deal's from JP May. I sent an e-mail upon coupon confirmation on May 9th. I waited a week then called. I talked to them and they said they would get back to me as to a date to schedule the work. I waited and waited, a month later, I sent another e-mail and tried to leave a phone message but their mail box was full. I waited a week to see if I would get a response from my e-mail. None. I called Angie's list. Angie's list said they would follow up. Then I received a call from JP May and he gave me an excuse and said he would call in a day or two with a schedule date. It was been another two weeks and I am not going to wait any more. I would like a refund so I can get the work done by someone more responsible.

+ -1 moreHe came out to take a look at my floor which was the exact measurements that were in the Deal. Right off the bat, he said he said he couldn't honor the deal, that he wouldn't make any money off of it so it was going to be another $300 in additional to the $125 deal. He scheduled a whole month out, so we waited and then he never showed up. We called and he didn't answer, so I text him about rescheduling, he said he didn't fell well and couldn't do it so we rescheduled for another month out, which would have been today. He didn't show up again, it is now noon and he didn't show, I took the day off to be here. I even confirmed with him on Friday through a text message, that he would come on Monday, he said "yes sir." I called his phone again today, no answer and no response and his mailbox is always full. I would not recommend him.
Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal from them, he was supposed to do hardwood floor refinishing.

+ -1 moreI saw JP May Construction's Angie's List deal for hardwood refinishing in December and decided to call for an estimate. I had to wait until I had to funds to complete the project, but Jim and his co-worker, Scott, were outstanding. I thought they did a fantastic job on my living room/dining room floors and up the steps, which required a lot of hand sanding. They encountered two bad patches of wood, which had pet stains. However, Jim was able to replace these sections and the patches blend right in, so it looks seamless. I was so pleased with the floors on the first level and up the steps that I asked if Jim and Scott would be available to refinish the floors for four of my upstairs bedrooms the next week. They completed that job, too, and did excellent work. In addition, Jim custom built a transition from a hardwood floor to a raised tile floor in our entrance way and he installed a pet door in a basement door that I had been meaning to install, but do not own a jigsaw. Overall, the communication was great and Jim and Scott were great to deal with whenever I was around. Jim took photos of the floor progress as he went along and texted them to me periodically. It was nice receiving those updates.

+ -1 moreBrian contacted me by email to schedule the appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 9 a.m. March 10. He emailed a request for photos so that he would be able to determine the scope of the job. Unfortunately, the email was sent on Saturday and I did not receive it until Sunday morning. I sent them and requested specifics as to the types and number of tubes of caulk he would require. I was aware that the caulking used under my window was a different type. An email with the information arrived early Monday morning. Brian and his assistant arrived at 8:30. The tile floor was protected, the old caulk removed and new applied. The room was left spotless and the job was completed by 10:00 a.m.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced the caulking around the tub surround in my main bathroom.

+ -1 moreJim was prompt in calling me back when I called to inquire about the work, & impressed me with how knowledgable he seemed to be.The price he quoted was very reasonable. At first I was a little concerned because it took more time than we expected to get the wood ready & delivered, but there were legitimate reasons on both his and our parts for the delay. In fact, when he did start the work, he was still not fully recuperated from being sick. Furthermore, the quality of the work was outstanding. They worked through the weekend to finish on time, and did a great clean-up when they were finished. I would recommend them without hesitation,
Description of Work: Mr. May & his associate repaired termite damaged hardwood floors, including some structural repairs.Theydid an excellent job of matching the wood & blending in the new wood to the existing floors. Then they sanded & refinished the floors throughout the house. The floors turned out beautifully, They look brand new.

We decided not to go through with the work. The owner was very nice and professional. He explained in detail why the deal wouldn't work for our specific floor.

His responsiveness has been consistent from our first conversation to the day I mailed him the check for the finished work. The job was done in a timely manner and the quality was great. The wood took an extra coat and Jim made sure the job was done to both his satisfaction and mine. Jim's price for the job was also extremely competitive and we felt we received excellent value for our money. I travel for work for a living and every day Jim would text pictures of the job progress to my phone so I could keep abreast of the progress they were making. He made me feel very comfortable and I would not only recommend him to both family and friends but I would hire him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Jim and his team did an outstanding job re-finishing our vintage hardwood floors in our newly purchased 100 year old home. He did a superb job sourcing the correct wood to patch the flooring. He then sanded, stained and re-finished the flooring to an outstanding finish.

+ 0 moreI talked to Jim late in the week and he said he would stop by over the weekend if he could fit me in at that late time. He said if he could fit me in that he would call me first before he came over. He was not able to make it that weekend, but he did call me during the week to set up a time for the following weekend. He kept the appointment and I found him to be plesant, professional, and very courteous. He immediately took off his shoes so as not to mar the floor, but I told him to keep them on, the floors were already a mess and I hoped he could restore them. He measured the entire area and, at my request, looked at a particular problem area and assured me that it was something he could handle. He gave me his card, shook my hand and said his estimate would be coming in a few days. We're going to get a couple more estimates, but I really like Jim's professionalism. I very much look forward to working with him.
Description of Work: I called the J.P May Co. for an estimate to refinish hardwood floors when I saw their offer of $125 for 100 square feet of refinishing. We have the entire house to refinish and every little bit helps.

Description of Work: The service date of 11/19/12 involved hardwood floor and steps installation. Jim did an excellent job. This was the last part of a large floor project and my other contractor just did not feel he had the expertise to do this final detail work. Jim came in and evaluated the project and completed it on a timely basis. This was the 3rd or 4th time that we have used Jim and his team. It started with a basement water clean up and control. Since then, I have found them to be very capable at a number of projects. When you have a house that in part is 100+ years old, there are always things to do.

+ 1 moreOne of the best contractor experiences I have had. Estimation process: Jim came to my house as soon as I called him. It wasn't hard to get an estimate as it often is. Through the estimating process, I realized that he takes pride in his work and will only use the best materials and will only do a thorough job. He wants your house to look the best it can and he takes that personally. That is hard to find these days. Another positive thing about the estimation process was that, he was able to get to the job quickly. He even fit it in on a weekend. How the job went: Jim and his crew were as nice as could be. They put up with our dogs and cleaned up after themselves. That may not sound like a lot, but it is. Some contractors are gruff, leave big messes, and get mad about dogs. They tried to get the job done in two days (even though one was during a Steeler game!), but had to come back and finish up during the week. This didn't bother me at all. It was a big job and it was impressive that they did it in two and a half days. Results: The house looks great. Neighbors are coming out of the woodwork to compliment and ask who did it. One neighbor even hired him to do his roof. Give Jim a call, you won't be sorry.
