Description of Work: I called to set up an estimate for a remodel on my two bathrooms. Although I did not use their service (they have a minimum job bid and my budget did not allow me to meet it), I wanted to leave a review for several reasons. First, when I called I was connected to a person, not a voicemail. If you've done any kind of work to your house whatsoever, you know the runaround and how many places you leave voicemails, never to hear from them again. Second, they were honest about their minimum bid. This is a frustrating thing I've run into in Pittsburgh--if you have a small or medium job, it is difficult to find someone who wants to take it. However, the third reason I am reviewing them is they referred me to someone who may better suit my needs and budget. They even went above and beyond and emailed me his contact information. This makes my life so much easier. When I do have a bigger project, their professionalism and availability means I will get in touch with them first.

Description of Work: I would like to share that my recent experience with J Francis Company team was great! I highly recommend them. From the beginning of the project concept; throughout the entire renovation of my garage-basement; each team member assigned to their task and responsibility saw it through to completion, with my satisfaction being their ultimate goal. I appreciated the ongoing communication and updates from both the Project Manager and Designer who displayed professionalism and eagerness to work closely with me on my vision. Not only have they provided additional living space but have added monetary value to my home. Thanks, guys!

Description of Work: I engaged the services of J. Francis Company to undertake the complete remodel of a 1,000 s.f. single family residence. The project included a full interior demo, and complete replacement of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The goal was to bring a 59 year house up to current standards. That goal was more than met. The work was done in 3 1/2 months with the final punch list process being handled by J. Francis in a proactive and timely fashion.

Description of Work: We had J Francis, Do several projects for us, the most notable is the complete remodel of our bathrooms. We have four bathrooms in our office that were stuck in the 70's. We had a few meetings to come up with a look and feel that would fit our personality and culture, They completely nailed it on the head. The fact that they are design build is huge because your dealing with one company on the entire project, I have been part of there projects with separate consultants etc... No one wants to take ownership. J. Francis takes one the entire project and they are responsible for everything.

Description of Work: Complete renovation of a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house on the Southside of Pittsburgh. Services were performed on-time and extremely professionally. The best part was that they showed up each day and the job was completed without any supervision by us the owners.

Description of Work: J. Frances absolutely saved our master bathroom/2nd floor laundry room remodel after a previous contractor had totally botched the work. We purchased a home last May in the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon area that had good bones, but needed a lot of work. I wish we had J. Francis from the very beginning. It would have saved us serious money and a lot of wasted time. In detail the work done for this project consisted of starting with a completely gutted bathroom and an adjacent empty room to create in that space a master bath and laundry room. In the master bath J Francis configured the space to allow the installation of a walk-in shower and whirlpool tub. They blended new custom woodwork in with existing woodwork that they refinished and reused. The workmanship of the woodwook and marble tile was exceptional. In the adjacent room they took the flooring down to the studs and corrected a severe problem with the slope of the floor, reinforced the structure supporting the tub and laundry hookup. The previous contractor had missed that the support joists were not strong enough to support the additional weight from the tub and washing machine. J Francis corrected all of the structual issues. The design involved moving a door to create the space needed for the accommodate the final design. It is not possible to tell where the old doorway was. In addition to the bath remodel, they went on to rebuild our deck (which had to be completely redone due to the same bad previous contractor), install new hardwood floors in our living room/dining room and re-tile our foyer. We plan on hiring J. Frances again this fall to finish out the kitchen (which needs final touches), redo another bathroom, and help create a more functional basement for our hobbies. From the moment that we contacted them through the entire remodel they have shown an impressive level of professionalism. We strongly recommend their work.

Description of Work: J. Francis Company did quite a lot of work around our home, I am grouping all of the work together although it happened at two different times. Work included: Kitchen remodel - new cabinets, new countertops, new outside door and screen door - including replacement of the rotted threshold Basement - new structural supports to replace the old rotten wood ones, installed new direct-vent hot water heater Bedroom - replaced one window

Description of Work: We completely rebuilt a wrap around porch on our house with a new roof. This had to be built from the ground up. We started with one contractor who failed to do the job correctly then just left in the middle of it because it was impossible to finish it. This porch included custom woodwork on the railings, a mohogany floor, wood ceilings and trim.

Description of Work: A bathroom was gutted and remodeled. Tile floor and tile on the walls was installed, shower, sink and toilet and cabinets were installed. The swinging door was replaced with a pocket door and crown molding installed. Trim on the window and door needed to be replaced. Plaster and trim was painted. This bathroom was the main bathroom in the house and it took nine months to ''complete''. After initial demolition the job sat idle for two weeks and when work began it was one plumbers assistant for days. I never saw a finish carpenter on the job. The trim around the door was pieced together from old mouldings as was the crown moulding. Additionally the window trim was crudely built (sill but no apron) by a plasterer. The trims were all replaced after pressure was brought to bear, but I was expected to believe what they had initially done was the standard in the industry. The shower leaked into the wall and ceiling below causing the plaster to fall.
