Description of Work: Erik did a complete kitchen remodel, and he was a joy to work with from day one. We went into the project with a lot of unknowns, encountered some unanticipated problems and even some opportunities, such that we radically changed the scope of the project once we got started. Erik is creative, knowledgeable, reliable, and incredibly honest. The only negative thing I have to say is that he doesn't work super fast, but he does show up when he says he will and he follows through. I kinda don't want to recommend him this highly because then he won't be available when I need him again, but he deserves to get all the business he can handle.

Description of Work: The other reviews were spot on. He is difficult to reach. I couldn't even get an estimate for my basement renovation. Gave up trying to reach him.

Erik provided a very detailed written estimate (via email). When we contacted Erik to do the job he was able to fit us in within a few days and got the job done in 2.5 days. He was very professional, neat and careful in his work. It is clear that Erik is highly skilled and knows what he is doing. The end result was wonderful. We could not be more pleased.
Description of Work: Powder room water damage repair was needed because of leaky toilet. The toilet and sink were removed and the old floor removed. All new plumbing was needed below the toilet and sink(drain and all). The powder room is above a garage and insulation was place between the floor and concrete and foam insulation was used to fill in cracks and spaces where the plumbing went up through the garage. A new floor and base board was installed before the toilet and sink were put back in place.

He was prompt for the rescheduled appointment. Erik was very pleasant to deal with. He listened to all of my goofy ideas and forwarded an estimate to me about 2 weeks later (he was on vacation and explain this at our meeting). I am happy with the estimate, but still haven't decided which route I want to go with the house remodel.
Description of Work: I had estimate appointment set for July 15, 2012. He was a no show. I called him back and he said his od phone was broken on the job and he lost his appointment info. We then agreed to do it July 22, 2012 between 12 and 1. He was a no call no show! He seemed very personable the 2 times I spoke with him, other than that, unreliable. UPDATE: Erik contacted me regarding my review and the missed appointments. He explained he had lost information due to his phone being broken. I agreed to meet him for the estimate and was very happy that I did.

Received an email from the contractor followed by a voice mail on my cell phone. I returned his call and spoke with Erik and set up a time for 1 July 2012 between noon and 1 pm. He was a no show, no phone call to say would make it, had a scheduling conflict etc. Just plain did not show up.
Description of Work: Did not show up.

Response from Erik Wingard Contracting
Unfortunately did miss the meeting with Mr Warnick. I accept responsibility and it should not have happened. As the review posted directly after Mr Warnick's on my account says, around that time I had had terrible luck with my phone. I had two break/malfunction within a little over a week of one another. This is no excuse and I've learned not to rely so heavily on my smart phone to keep track of appointments and contact information. I did attempt call Mr Warnick albeit overly belated to apologize for having dropped the ball. I was unable to reach him and left a voicemail apologizing for my error to which I never did hear back from Mr Warnick. The indescretion in question was my fault, and should not have happened.

,We got several bids, and frankly any one of them probably would have done a competent job. Ultimately we decided to go with Mr. Wingard because he'd done work for us several years earlier and his professionalism and work ethic was outstanding. The outcome matched our expectations and our neighbors comments were highly complimentary as well.
Description of Work: In February a portion of our old stone wall collapsed. It was caused by root growth pressure from a huge ancient tree directly behind it. Enough roots had to be removed to ensure that the wall will remain intact for 20+ years. He installed filter fabric to prevent dirt from clogging new gravel back-fill. Stones had to be cleaned, sorted and replaced in their previous positions. Proper drainage had to be provided. Contiguous sections of fence had to be removed and replaced after the wall was rebuilt. We wanted the replacement mortar joints to match shape (and color) of the existing beaded joints. The rebuilt wall was power-washed. By scheduling his work to coincide with fair weather, Mr Wingard was careful to avoid icing damage to curing mortar joints and cap,

Erik provided an estimate for an addition. He is a professional contractor, communicated clearly and timely, simply was a little more expensive than I was looking for, but I would call him again.

Mr Wingaard was extremely knowledgeable and professional. His estimates were very detailed. It clearly showed that he knows how to address problems like ours. We decided not to use his services due to the price. His estimate for the second story was $90,000 and to repair the existing structure was $20,000. He was very punctual with appointments and great about returning phone calls and emails. I wish we could afford his prices but they were simply beyond the budget we had in mind.
Description of Work: Mr. Wingaard did two separate estimates for us involving two different plans to repair/ rebuild our addition. One was for a two story complete rebuilding and one was to repair the existing structure. The addition is at the rear of the house and needed repair due to water and termite damage, along with the base of the structure being built incorrectly.

Erik was recommended to us by a friend in the construction business in 2008. Since that time, he has completed 3 major projects and a few smaller jobs for us. The addition of the bathroom, home office and HVAC to our third floor was the most recent project. He is very knowledgeable about building materials, has great design ideas, and takes care of all the details. We just gave him an overview of what we envisioned. Erik was able to provide us with several design options. He told us about the different materials that could be used and how it would look when finished. He also gave us the pros and cons of each option. He made great suggestions regarding innovative and environmentally responsible materials. He kept us informed throughout the entire project. Erik coordinated all of the subcontractors, dealt with permitting issues and inspectors as well. He took care of all the details which made this a very positive experience. Erik is patient and flexible. We made some change requests during the project and we also had a few delays for personal reasons. He adapted his schedule to fit our needs. He is respectful of our home and our budget. His crew is also patient and considerate. They cleaned the area daily and kept the construction clutter to a minimum. We would call him again for any project. He is very easy to work with, we know the job will be done properly, and we have been very happy with the final results every time.
Description of Work: Erik created and installed a new bathroom, added a home office, and coordinated subcontractors to install HVAC and insulation in this area. He custom built a walk in shower stall with ipe wood flooring and two benches. He also custom built a shelving unit and a mahogany bench for the bathroom.

After beginning a remodeling project on an existing 2 story porch we were informed by our borough that, in order for it to meet building codes, we would have to first install a foundation beneath it, then undo most of the work we'd already done and have it professionally remodeled. I wasn't sure it would even be possible to install a foundation under an existing structure and several contractors I contacted either declined the work or simply didn't bother to call back. I sought the advice of a coworker who put me in touch with Erik who, not only took my call but arrived the same day to inspect the structure and give me some advice on exactly how much work would be involved to get the work done to the inspector's satisfaction.Since the existing structure was built on a concrete pad, Erik was able to build internal structural supports for the second floor which then made it possible for an excavator to be brought in to dig out the area under the first floor walls. I should point out that they were also nice enough to use the dirt from the foundation area to level out a large portion of our sloped back yard and they even replaced the top soil and planted new grass. Once this was done Erik and his assistant framed in the foundation wall and arranged for a cement truck to be brought in to pour the 3 walls of the foundation all at once. Throughout this process Erik stayed in touch with our inspector, who was very strict in his requirements for the foundation, and followed his instructions to a T. It was even necessary for him to jack up the first floor framing slightly in order to replace the 2x4s of the sole plate with ones that were pressure treated. While he was at it he also inserted tar paper and a waterproof gasket between the new 2x4s and the existing cement pad, then he anchored the entire structure into the newly poured foundation to satisfy the inspector that the structure was correctly supported and anchored. My wife and I were so impressed by his work that we immediately asked him to return and finish the rest of the work to bring our new addition up to code. Erik agreed and promptly furnished us with a detailed estimate that did an excellent job of describing the work involved and how much each phase would cost. He ended up reframing the vast majority of the structure, installing large bolts into the ledger board in order to anchor the structure firmly to the main structure of our house, removing all of the windows, framing and insulating them properly then re-installing them, re-applying the siding correctly, wiring both the internal and external outlets and installing all lights, a ceiling fan and 2 hydronic base board heaters (required by code). Once that work was complete he and his assistants drywalled both rooms and removed the sliding glass doors that used to separate our old unheated porch from our living room on the second floor and installed trim to cover the transition between the drywall of the addition and our existing plaster walls in the living room. Throughout this process Erik was always available to answer questions and provide guidance. Both the electrical and building inspectors were impressed with his work as were we. Because we were converting an existing unheated structure into livable space the process was a complicated one that required a lot of communication and ingenuity. I'm happy to say that Erik and his assistants did an outstanding job and really saved my wife and I from a ton of misery! If and when we ever decide to remodel again, Erik will be the first person we call.
Description of Work: Erik installed a foundation under our existing 2 story porch. He also reframed the walls, installed the windows, waterproofed the structure, re-sided it, wired it, installed and finished the drywall and put up wood trim.

The project involved: - removing ill-placed door and replacing that space with a window - removing a large window in a small room that used to be a porch but had been enclosed; replacing this window with a door with sidelights - installing stairs from this new door to ground level - finishing the space in this new mudroom including installing a heated floor, tiling, and generally finishing the space Erik has a good sense of style; for example, he suggested that I use mahogany for the outside stairs and it took the stairs from being mundane to a focal point. He recommended excellent products for both the door and window, and he always had a solution for a problem or situation I posed. Most importantly, he's very technically knowledgeable. Erik is also flexible and patient. When I asked him to re-arrange the work plan that he had established, he did it without complaint. During the project, I was fairly distracted by some other things, but he was reliable and kept things on track. The finished project is exactly as I had envisioned, and Erik spent time on the details to make it that way.
Description of Work: Erik created a beautiful and functional space for me. The previous owner of my home had "remuddled" a former butler's pantry and small porch. Erik brought both areas back to life, and I now have a mudroom and a bright, open area that I'm going to use as a work space.

From price quote to start to completion they where nothing but professional. They would always keep me informed on the progress and any issues. Overall great work! And have already recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: They did three jobs for me: 1. They remodeled a Bathroom 2. They put in a new bathroom and walk in closet in our basement. They did a great job installing marble on floor and walls. Overall a really great job! 3. They installed two new windows. One was a replacement window and the other was new with a new opening needed. I could not be more pleased. Contractor designed and delivered a very special and unique structure. This is a room to be used by my elderly mother and eventually become a gameroom later and when reselling. Contractor blended those needs beautifully. He was able to incorporate many of my wishes and interests into the structure while understanding my budget limitations. He respected my property, my neighbors and utilized sustainability and re-use wherever possible. He also respects his profession and that is evident in the quality of his work and his ethics.
