The guys at E&M have been taking care of my cars for years and it is a pleasure doing business with them. They take pride in their work and its great having the same people always do the work rather than a random unknown technical at the local dealership. Today's work consisted of a number of things to get my 2003 minivan up to snuff for upcoming state inspection. They explained exactly what they were going to do before, their price estimates were accurate, and they got done right on time. Highly recommend them!

They were great! E&M worked with us and our crazy schedule to get the work done. I will definitely use them again.

I called them to set up an appointment and explained that I had put ?Stop Leak? in my vehicle. I came in and left my car with them and they called me with an estimate. I told them to do the appropriate work, and they did it. Once they finished the work, they let me know the AC still wasn?t blowing cold, so they told me to bring it back on Wednesday since they had ran out of time the previous session. On Wednesday, he spoke with another mechanic and they concluded that it was the expansion valve that was clogged. They said they didn?t have the necessary tools to finish the job. They then referred me to an AC specialist that has the correct equipment to do the repair. I have taken my vehicle in to an AC specialist now and they thought the same thing, that it was the expansion valve, but that I would need to replace other parts as well potentially. The mechanics from E & M were correct on their final conclusion.

Art and his mechanics didn't look at the timing chain at the beginning, it took them a week to diagnose the problem. During that week they would test one part of the car by replacing parts; they would try to start the car with a new part and when it didn't solve the problem, they would change another part. It wasn't until the end of the week that they decided to look at the timing chain. I had originally been told that the cost would be between $700-900. Because they took a week to work on my car, and they ordered so many extra parts, I ended up receiving a bill for about $1800. They even kept all the parts that they had replaced, needlessly, in my car. My engine light came on after I received the car back, it hadn't been on before the chain jumped and I took it in to them. I found out from the Acura dealership that E & M must have broken off an oil control solenoid. E & M denied that they had knocked anything off. The solenoid cannot fall off on its own, due to its design and location in the car. Once the solenoid was replaced, the engine light turned off and has been off since. Now, two years later, I was noticing that my car was hesitating, rocking and shaking as if it was about to turn off. I had a mechanics shop run a diagnostics and there were 10 codes that came back. I took the car into an Acura mechanic. I was asked by the mechanic if I could remember who had replaced my spark plugs last. (E & M had done this while trying to figure out what was wrong.) The mechanic, who has worked for Acura dealerships, advised that whoever had replaced the spark plugs had put in parts that don't work for an Acura, causing the coils to burnout. I had to pay $280 to fix a problem caused by E & M putting in non-Acura parts. I am really upset by this, because I was charged for Acura parts by E & M and clearly didn't receive them.

E+M was recommended by another service provider in the Edgewood area when he could not fix the engine of my SUV. From the start the E+M guys inspected my engine and quoted me for a $500 fix to the reason why my car's pistons were not all firing. I was told the car would be ready in a few days. Communication was hard to pull out of the mechanic throughout the process. We apparently were waiting for a part from the dealer. Fortunately I had another car at the time to drive to and from work. The part arrived and I was told it would be ready the next day. When I called the next day to see when I could come pick up my car, I was told that the part did not actually fix the engine and that one of the pistons would need to be sent to a machine shop to be re-shaped and tuned, which would be $1500 for labor and another $200-300 to machine the part! What?! The car had 150,000 miles on it. Regardless of where/when/how, the information was given to me in pieces. Had I known it would be ~$2500 to fix the car, I absolutely would have said "thank you very much" and just put that money down on a new car. Instead they charged me for $590 worth of work and stated that the car would have to be repaired for another $2000 if I wanted to drive it anywhere. The whole experience left a bad feeling and I was upset with the way it was handled. I have taken my car to many service places and never had an issue with "stringing" out the diagnosis of the car in this way. The mechanics were nice people and matter of fact when I picked up my car. I'd be happy to return for small things like an inspection or oil change, but next time I need something big done I'll head back to the dealer, or some larger chain who might be able to discount services if they are unable to definitively fix the car for me.

They did a great job. It was worth every penny. It was the first time I had used them. I would definitely use them again.

I will definitely go back to this shop, even though my car is still under factory warranty. I found E&M on Angie's List and it turns out they are literally 4 blocks from my house (yay). I went in for my annual inspection, which I passed without incident. I also asked Chris to take a look at the car (2005 Toyota Rav4) because ever since I bought it used, and Toyota Certified, in 2011, the acceleration has seemed funky to me. No matter how easy I go on the pedal, it leaps forward from a stop. In addition to being annoying, it makes me look like a crappy driver, which I am not. I have taken it to two Toyota dealers in Pittsburgh, both of whom told me there was nothing wrong with the car. They were both patronizing and unconcerned about my concern = FAIL, hate, grumble, etc. So Chris took the car out and when I came back to pick it up, he said he hated to tell me this, but actually there is nothing wrong with the car. But then HE EXPLAINED WHY -- in this case, there isn't even an accelerator cable, it's all done by sensors -- instead of insinuating that it was just my imagination or driving style, as the Toyota service people did. He said there really isn't anything to be done about it, that's just how some cars are. Now I know that if I really do hate it, I can sell it with a clear conscience. I'm very appreciative of the time he took, both testing and explaining the results to me. Big A+.

I have been going there because they do excellent work. They try to keep the cost reasonable. I feel like he does excellent work and I’m paying a descent price. I would use them in the future.

I needed to have work done on my vehicle. Some things needed to be replaced and he found some problems we needed to address so we did. He's very honest. He's the kind of guy who loves cars and he wants you to love your car too. Whatever he does the work is of quality and it's done on time. My whole family has been going there for years.

I first went to them since they were incredibly close, but now they’re a little bit further. I still take my car here since it’s been a very good experience. I have a 14 year old Subaru that he’s kept working. He’s honest, he’ll charge a reasonable rate (he’s not super cheap but I’ve never been surprised), and his work is good. He’ll find cost-effective parts. I’m happy with his services.

Art is a good mechanic but probably not the quickest. A dealer probably would have had this job done in one day if I dropped the car off first thing in the morning. Although their hourly labor rate is lower, the difference between them and the dealer was negligible because I had to rent a car for two days.
