Description of Work: My 2008 Audi A4 sounded suddenly like a motor-cycle! It was clear that something bad happened to my exhaust system. Knowing how expensive the dealership would be, I went to my local repair ship, who in turn, recommended that I speak with Zack at E&M.

 + -1 moreE & M Auto Center is THE BEST. My husband has a 1997 Saab, which has definitely seen better days. We recently took his Saab to another mechanic on Washington Blvd., who had the car for over a week but "didn't have time" to fix the brake light or the power steering. We brought the car home in the same state of disrepair as we left it 9 days earlier, and were very stressed about finding someone to help us. We live in Edgewood and I walk past E & M everyday. I thought I would give them a try and I am SO thankful that I did! They fixed the broken brake light for free and fixed the power steering issue within HOURS, and for astronomically less than the Saab mechanic on Washington Blvd. quoted us for. My husband needs his car for work and the speed and affordability at which E & M offered their services to us was amazing and we are so appreciative. I plan on going to E & M for all auto repair needs in the future and I will be singing their praises to all my friends, neighbors and coworkers! Thank you!!

 + 0 moreWhen I first called to set the appointmet, they were very friendly. When I took the car in, they immediately took it in at the time set, which is awesome for a garage! ususally you have to sit and wait just for them to pull your car in. I asked if they had a plug that I could use so that I could work on my computer, and they provided me with the room I needed. That was also awesome. They immediately showed me what needed done, and suggested - not told me that I needed them getting brakes, not to which he said they would pass inspection, but wouldn't last much more than a few months. So i said go ahead and replace the brakes also, because i didnt want to damage the rotors in a month or so. I asked them a few questions, and they answered honestly, and didnt tell me that this needs fixed, or that needs fixed. Which my old mechanic would've done. I was expecting the bill to be over a thousand dollars, but it was under 600. They replaced ball bearings??, front sway bar, and front brakes. My old mechanic would've charged me WAY more than that, and they surely wouldn't went out of their way to enable me to work while I was waiting. My experience with E & M was awesome, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I feel the price was fair for the services provided. And, they were fast. I had my car back the same day. Would definitely go back! Thank you.

 + 0 moreBefore going to E & M Auto Center, I was told by a different auto shop that my car was only worth scrap metal since it had 128,000 miles with intermittant low oil pressure light signals. E&M Auto Center not only inspected my car, but they ran the engine codes for my car and explained to me more about the root cause of my oil pressure light problems. They mechanics were the best mechanics I've experienced since they took the time to explain to me my car's condition and they even had me stand underneath my car to point out what was going on. Being from out-of-state, I can honestly say it was a relief to have an honest mechanic's opinion about my car. E&M told me that my car was still worth using for plenty of time to come and put all of my worries at ease before I made a cross country road trip. My car performed perfectly fine and I know what updates I need on my car before winter. As a young woman, most mechanics take advantage of my lack of knowledge with cars, but E & M treated me respectfully and was willing to talk to me about any worries without being condescending towards me.
Description of Work: The provider did a bumper to bumper inspection, oil change, and price estimates on CV joints.

 + -1 moreI called E & M because I was concerned with the noise coming from the brakes. They were able to set an appointment right away and I quickly had my car back. I've taken my car here for numerous other services and I have always been more than satisfied. I am mostly impressed with the courteousness and helpfullness of the owner and staff, although the quality of service is outstanding. I never had to return with follow-ups due to a "misdiagnosis" as I have with so many other shops, including dealerships. I was also given a recommendation and quote on new tires and it was very reasonable, making it likely I will purchase from them. I will continue to take my car to E & M for as long as the service remains amazing.
Description of Work: Replaced rear brake pads, rotors, wheel studs and caliper. Plus and oil change.

 + 1 moreIt went great. Customer service and follow up were great. The deal made it much cheaper than competitors and also added a free tire rotation. My tires barely passed and they gave me a quote (i asked for it) but then suggested a place where I could get tires cheaper. I will definitely taking my car there for required service in the future.

I called E&M and they took me in immediately and changed it for no labor cost! Not a big job, but this is one example why I think E&M is terrific. They take ownership of your car's well-being and do what it takes to keep your car in repair. They have done work on both my cars over the years and the work is always high-quality and for a very reasonable price. An added plus with E&M is you always have the same people working on your car year after year. Not a random technician at a dealership.

 + -1 moreIt went really well. I have been taken advantaged of in the past and so I know what its like to feel like a sucker. This was NOT that. I feel confident enough in their professionalism and workmanship to send a friend or my wife there because I think they wouldn't try to perform unnecessary work on their cars. Its a garage. No frills, no waiting room, just good mechanics doing good work. Ill be using E & M to get my regular maintenance oil changed from now on. The only aspect of the experience I would change it is difficult to see their sign in the dark.
Description of Work: I purchased the Bumper2Bumper Angie's List deal. I am not mechanically inclined and needed to know how much the work was going to cost before diving into the job. I drive a 2008 Dodge Magnum. It eats up brakes. I have put on three sets of breaks in 5 years. So, I knew ahead of time I probably needed brakes. Also, the car has felt sluggish lately and the gas mileage has dropped about 15%. I read online that these Magnums can have head gasket issues. I brought that up my concerns for that. However, the real reason I went in is my car sounded like the wheels were going to fall off every time I go over a speed bump. With Christmas coming up and winter upon us, I was quite nervous the work was going to be out of my budget. Zach, the mechanic, scheduled me for the service the next morning after buying the Angie's List Deal ($59.99). After dropping the car off the next morning, Zach called me up with what they found. Point-by-point, he went through the work that he thought 1) needed to do immediately (brakes on the rear - 0/32, metal on metal) and the front control arms (upper/lower FR, lower FL), 2) the work that would shortly need to be done (front brakes 3/32nds), and 3) work that his garage could not complete (computer issues) and would need to go to a dealer. He also let me know that I did not need a head gasket, there was no gas in the oil, and that the radiator system was holding pressure perfectly (WHEW!). He gave me a point-by-point cost break down and the labor costs for each procedure. After the discussion, I opted to get all the work done at once and to sweeten the deal, because they were already working on the front the total labor was only minimally increased.

 + 1 moreI decided to go to E&M for my next inspection because I was tired of paying exorbitant prices at my other mechanic and these guys were very highly recommended by Angie's List. E&M was very easy to deal with. They were able to get me in the same week that I called - which was great because I had a long trip the following weekend. They were able to accommodate my work schedule and the shop is right on the bus line so I could drop it off before work and come and pick it up afterwards without any issues. And as an added bonus my car passed inspection the first time! All in all it was a wonderful experience and I plan on using them for all my auto needs from now on!

Description of Work: Zach made sure the suspension and rim were ok after we hit an uncovered manhole during a torrential downpour. Zach replaced the tire and a bolt. We also got new wipers.

 + -1 moreZack the mechanic fit me in to his busy schedule on short notice, put my car up on the lift, and diagnosed the problem right away. A heat shield had corroded when it was tack welded to the exhaust system. He removed the offending shield. Not a big deal, but there was no charge for the service and he got me back on the road in 15 minutes. You can't beat that.
Description of Work: I had a vibration and rattle noise coming from the underside of the car. Especially noticeable when driving next to a wall or barrier.

I used to live a block away, so it was nice to drop my car off and walk home, but since I moved several miles away, I still take my car there to get it serviced. They know what they're doing. Marc and the technicians he works with have NEVER not been able to fix a problem. Their prices are fair, you get what you pay for and then some. They are realistic, and take the time to expalin and show you WHY they had to do what they did. Sometimes the auto-repair industry gets a bad reputation, but these guys are FAIR and straightforward, good communication, the whole package. Over the years they have worked on a 1996 Infiniti I30, a 2007 Nissan Murano, and a 1997 Nissan Sentra. Thanks for years of service.
Description of Work: This time, replaced a muffler but I have had them do all kind of work: Electrical, emissions, oil changes, control arms, CV boots, you name it.
