Description of Work: Provided a detailed bid for the work needed. Punctual and professional. Unfortuately the work cost more than I could afford to spend, and I am out $500. I hoped to redo my small bath with fixtures I had already purchased for 10-13 thousand. The bid was eighteen thousand and just too much for my budget.

$500

Response from Dreammaker Bath & Kitchen - Pittsburgh
We were rather surprised to see a somewhat negative review from this member since we did not, in fact, do any work for her. The $500 deal she purchased was for a kitchen remodeling project. We did contact Angie’s List on the member’s behalf to ask that a refund be issued to her. We contacted this individual to notify her of that request and to suggest that she contact Angie’s List directly. We hope after a refund is received she will be gracious enough to post an additional comment more to our favor. In defense of DreamMaker, we contacted her in November immediately upon notification by Angie’s List and continued to call and leave messages for several weeks thereafter. She did not call us back until February by which time when we went to look at her kitchen another contractor did the work. She was only interested in having DreamMaker fix some of the items that were not done by the other contractor. She then asked us to take a look at a bathroom remodeling project. In the spirit of good faith, we offered to honor the $500 deal against her bathroom project even though that was not the original deal. Our proposal for the scope of the work she wanted in the bathroom exceeded her budget. This is not unusual and actual costs occasionally exceed customers’ estimated budgets usually because customers do not consider the “invisible” work, such as electrical, wall repair, plumbing, etc. It is unfortunate this member was not satisfied with her experience with DreamMaker but in the future it would probably be a better idea to have a contractor visit to discuss their project before making a financial investment into the unknown.

Description of Work: I purchased a deal on Angie's List for bathtub refinishing for $575. Dreamweaver was quick to respond to setup an initial appt. to do the tub inspection. They arrived on time and assessed my tub, which was rough and porous, but I'm sure not nearly as bad as some they refinish. The rep was quick to say that there would be a $50 upcharge to do some "patching work," which I questioned, having assumed it was part of the package price. This is the only reason I gave Dreamweaver a "B" for pricing. The actual work was done the following week by one of their refinishers. He was on time, quiet, neat and did a very nice job. He will return in two days to grout the tub, but the job is 90% done and my tub is gleaming white. I think you may pay a little more to use Dreamweaver, but you will be pleased with their quality and professionalism.

Description of Work: Dreammaker bath helped design and performed a complete master bath remodel. It was a lot of work and with any larger project there tend to be some hick-ups but these were resolved quickly and professionally. We were very happy with the contractors perfoming the work, they were polite, worked neatly and made sure that they cleared the workspace at the end of the day so we could use our bedroom. We are very happy with the result and will surely consider hiring them again for any other project.

OVERALL, THEY DO NOT TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK. I TOLD MY NEIGHBORS, MY FRIENDS, MY RELATIVES, DO NOT LET DreamMaker DO ANY WORK FOR YOU EVER. My wife & I got the feeling that wanted to get in & get out. My wife & I received what we picked out for Bathroom & Kitchen countertop w/stainless stink & backsplash. We were told that they have Qualified personal. A Certified Electrician for Electrical work. Certified Tile/Ceramic Setter. A Certified Wallpaper/Painter. A Certified Plumber. Carpenter. Their Contract is one I never seen before. I had a lot of work being done to my house over the years. Never had a Contract like this. They wanted 50% Deposit to Schedule, 25% upon Start of job. 25% upon Completion. Usually it is 25%-30% to Start. Final Payment upon Completion. The Owner "Al" is a Certified Plumber. Just when the job was to be started, I received a phone call from Certified Electrician working for DreamMaker[DM] Bath & Kitchen. He wanted to come to the house to "see" what he had to do. The Electrician arrived & I showed him the Bathroom. The wiring for Light fixture & Plug.had to be done. While he was there I wanted to show him some Electrical work I needed done in Kitchen. If he was interested in Kitchen work, that was going to be paid by me. Not DM[DreamMaker]. I never received phone call of DM Certified Electrician of the cost for the Kitchen electrical work. The week when DM[DreamMaker] workers[2] arrived to remove everything out of the Bathroom. Replacing everything. New pedestal stink, commode, bath tub, surround tile in bath tub area, tile floor, wallpaper, light fixture, plug, painting. When it came to start on Electrical work in bath room, the one worker that removed everything out of bathroom was going to do Electrical work. I called DM & ask where is my Certified Electrician? I was told that the worker there now is very "Capable" to do the Electrical work. He placed the wiring for the light fixture & where the plug is being placed. I've already bought ceiling light/fan for the bath room. I know an Certified Electrician that done work for me before. I called him to see if he can installed my ceiling/fan in the bathroom & to do some work in the Kitchen. He arrived over the weekend to do this for me. He started in the bathroom first. I change my mind of where the plug was already in place by the Very 'capable" DM worker. I was wanted in the bathroom by my Certified Electrician. He installed ceiling/fan fixture & wanted to show me what was already there[wiring] in the wall over the years. The main electrical line already placed by DM very "capable" electricain worker for the light fixture to be installed later. That main line was already there over the years was "spliced",tape & bare had to be removed & replace. That was not "safe" & my Certified Electrician noticed that when I wanted to place the plug to another area. My Cerified Electrician replace that whole main line to make it "safe". He completed that job for me & the kichen electrical work. I kept that "spliced", tape & bare main electrical section. I showed "Al" the Owner that main electrical line that was already there. I asked why his very "capable" electrician worker did not see that & replace that? NO RESPONSE OR COMMENT. The job proceeded on & the tub was installed, the floor tile was done. The bath tub surround area was being done with tile. It was done by DM Certified Tile/ceramic personal. The ceiling was being painted. The DM very "capable" electrician was doing the painting. I called DM & asked where is my Painter ? DM has a Certified Wallpaper/painter personal that was going to do the job. He was there earlier to "see" Wallpaper & wanted to make sure that everything was there. The Wallpaper & paint was there. I was told by DM that the Cerified Wallpaper/painter was on another job. DM told me that worker there is very "capable" to paint the ceiling. Now I have a very "capable DM electrician/painter doing the painting. The ceiling had 2 coats of paint on. The 2 coats of paint was done in 3 hours! He did not let the 1st dry before putting the 2nd coat on. Before he left I noticed he did not paint the outside edge of the whole ceiling. He stated to me "the paint is not dried yet". I was concerned because the following day the Certified Wallpaper worker was coming. He was to place Wallpaper on walls in the bathroom. I waited several hours & I could see that the outside edge of the whole ceiling was not touch by paint. I took several pictures of that ceiling & pictures of bathroom door & door jam areas that was not painted. I went to get my drop cloth, ladder, paint brush. My wife took several "pictures" of me on the ladder with drop cloth on floor painting the outside edge of the whole ceiling. I put drop cloth on the floor because the floor tile was already done. I had to do this because of the Wallpaper worker was coming the following day. The Certified Wallpaper worker did an "Excellent" job Is it because he knew what he was doing? "Al" arrived the following day & I showed him the pictures of me on the ladder painting. Again, NO RESPONSE NO COMMENT ! "Al" the Owner & Certified Plumber did his plumbing work for the tub, commode, pedestal stink. When the very "capable" DM[DreamMaker] electrical/painter worker finished installing the commode & pedestal stink & left. I notice something right away. The pedestal of the stink was crooked. Now why didn't the very "capable" DM worker look over the job before leaving for the day? Next morning I pointed that out & it was corrected. The Kitchen was next. "Al" the Owner & very "capable" DM electrician/painter removed the counter top. The backsplash tile there was already removed. The backsplash was removed by DM very "capable" worker. The New countertop w/stainless stink was placed. "Al" the Owner/Certified Plumber did the plumbing work. "Al" finish his plumbing work. Before "Al" the Owner left he stated that the worker there is very "capable" to do the backsplash tile. I asked where is the DM Certified Tile/ceramic worker that did the bathroom tile work ? He stated he's on another job. So, now I have DM[DreamMaker] very "capable" electrician/painter/tile setter. After the countertop was "nailed" in place the very "capable" started doing the backsplash tile work. There were still in some areas, paper & "divots" on that wall. The paper was not removed. The "divots" was done by removing old backsplash tile. The "divots" was not patch before placing new backsplash tile. I aked why? I was told by "capable" worker that everything will be alright. The tile being placed was done. Next was the grout the next day. Just before DM very "capable" electrician/painter/tile setter was leaving for the day, I noticed something. The tile was moving. It was sliding down to the other tiles. I went to get him before he left & show him. He immediately went to his truck & got some "spacers". The "spacers" was placed between tiles to keep it from sliding. "Al" the Owner came the following morning to "see" what was going on. He was told by his very "capable" worker that the Humidity causes the problem. The grouting was done that day. I came Home after an Appointment. My wife & I looked at this Overall backsplash tile. The bottom row had different sizes. The tile rows was not even & in some areas it was not flush to the wall. Some of the tiles was sticking out. I called DM & wanted to speak to "Al" the Owner. He called back & was Out of State for the weekend. I told him to come to the house when he gets back. In the mean time I made several phone calls. I got a Countertop person that did this for a living. I also got a Tile/ceramic Setter that did this for a living. Tile setter worker was "appalled" of the backsplash tile work. Who ever did this did not know what was he's doing! To do this right, all of that tile has to be removed. The countertop person came later. He came in & measure each corner & put level on top at different areas. First of all. the countertop was out-of-square & not level. Who ever did this just "nailed" it place without lining up the whole countertop. From one corner to the next corner was never checked. Put "shims" in areas to make it level. The whole countertop has to be done completely over. "Al" finally came over. My wife & I did not say anything. We ask him to look at this backsplash & countertop. We watch him looking. He stated "what's wrong?" My Wife ask "Al", "would Your Wife Like This In Her Kitchen?" He had a Blank look on his face. I pointed out all the things was wrong. He said he'll replaced all the tile. I asked "Al" the Owner why he has this "capable" worker doing this work. He stated "he's been around 20 years & we have to keep him busy." The countertop was fixed correctly. The backsplash tile was removed. The paper in some areas was removed. The "divots" was fix with paster cement thru-out that wall. New tile was place & grouted. The problem was that we were having other work already scheduled. The Wall washing thru-out the house. Next Painting/wallpaper. Finally wall to wall carpeting thru-out. After DreamMaker. These people I just now stated were very Professional. Each & everyone of these people actually took PRIDE in their work. You could see it in their Workmanship. Most of All, they check their work before the End of Day. "Al" the Owner never came to the House to check on how everything turn out. NEVER EVER TO SEE IF WE WERE SATISFIED. Called "Al" 12/27/10. "Al" called back 12/27/10 about 1:30 pm. I told "Al" we have some issues in Kitchen. NEVER EVER TOOK CARE OF THIS ! I'm still waiting for "Al" to take care of this. As of 1/24/2011 NOTHING ! He did give us a "COURTSEY DISCOUNT". It was a little over $200.00. SHAME ON YOU "AL" THE OWNER !

It is not our intention to respond to the customer's rant, sarcasm or personal attacks. DreamMaker stands behind its workmen and our quality of work. As evidenced by our continued growth over the past 40 years. We are a full service remodeling company with qualified installers who are capable of every phase of a project. Our contract terms are industry-standard locally, as well as nationally, which we monitor through membership in the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). All concerns raised by the customer throughout their remodeling were addressed and resolved during their project. Upon completion the customer expressed satisfaction with the final outcome of the work and a price concession was made in the spirit of trying to satisfy a customer that is not able to be satisfied.

I thought their designer, Terry, was very helpful. She came out and did the actual quote. She was easy to work with. She was the primary person I worked with. I also had interaction with the owner , who is also the registered plumber and electrician. They were all very helpful and I thought their quote was reasonable for the work I was looking to have done.

We had Dreammaker start a quoting process. The quote was a little high & vague. I asked for a little more detail regarding labor, materials, & allowances. We did not feel comfortable with the quote. We were told they would be back in contact within a couple of days. That never happened. It was important for my wife & I to feel comfortable & confident with the contractor but this didn't happen.

The company sent a representative to look at the scope of work in order to provide me with an estimate. This person was punctual, and I had a written estimate emailed to me the next day. The work was scheduled, the worker arrived on time and completed his work in a reasonable timeframe. He showed me what he had done so far and told me when he'd be back to put the finishing touches on the tub. When a scheduling problem arose on the day he was to return, he was great and rescheduled so I was able to keep a prearranged appointment. The overall experience was great, and I've had others comment on what a great job this company did. I would definitely use them again!
