Description of Work: David Hood Roofing hides a nearly $100 travel fee in their service costs - I will add that it is to drive UNDER TEN MILES. Additionally, they didn't include the fee in their initial verbal estimate. They only revealed this fee in the invoice AFTER the work (simple gutter cleaning) had been completed. Cost an arm and a leg for two guys to do less than an hour of work. Their customer service is abysmal - my husband wasted hours on the phone talking with incompetent reps. Seriously, there are so many better options in Pittsburgh. Don't waste your time with these dishonest roofers!

We do not have an [Member Name Removed] in our database. Through some research we believe our customer contact name to be [Member Name Removed]. Our response to the “hidden $100 travel fee” is that this fee is not hidden. If this fee was not disclosed on your original call we apologize. We charge a $95 flat fee on every service call that we perform. This fee covers two men’s travel to and from your home, fuel costs and an administrative fee. Our labor rate is $65 per man per hour. We always send two men for safety reasons. Our men were at your home for 1-1/2 hours. The labor totaled $195 plus the $95 service call fee and $1.00 for trash bags totaled $291. The gutters on your non-walkable slate roof were completely full of debris and had trees growing out of them. We have before and after photos that should have been included with your invoice. While we were there we also measured your garage roof for a replacement. We reduced the invoice $32.50 for the time used to measure bringing the invoice total down to $258.50. We feel this amount is reasonable and fair for the work that we performed. We apologize for any misunderstandings and do not feel that we were dishonest in any way.

ONE WEEK AFTER THEIR SERVICE I NOTICED A LEAK ON OUR THIRD FLOOR. I CALLED THEIR OFFICE TO REQUEST A SERVICE MAN TO CHECK THE LEAK, BUT GOT NO RESPONSE. I HAVE BEEN USING THIS COMPANY FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SATISFIED WITH THEIR WORK. THIS WAS THE FIRST ISSUE, BUT DUE TO THEIR LACK OF FOLLOW UP, IT WILL BE MY LAST.

THE COMPANY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED THAT THEIR MAN DIDN'T DO THE WORK AS PROMISED AND PAID FOR.
Description of Work: I CALLED BECAUSE I NOTICED SHINGLES MISSING FROM ROOF. HOOD'S MAN CAME AND TALKED TO MY FATHER AND APPARENTLY WORKED ON THE ROOF. I LATER DISCOVERED THAT SHINGLES WERE STILL MISSING. I DON'T THINK HE ACTUALLY DID ANY REPAIRS. SEVERAL PHONE CALLS LATER, ANOTHER PERSON CAME OUT AND DID MINIMAL WORK.

GREAT COMMUNICATION. THE REPAIR SOLVED A WATER-IN-THE-BASEMENT PROBLEM WE HAD FOR A YEAR. ON TIME AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THEY WERE DOING. CAME WITHIN A WEEK OF INITIAL CALL TO REQUEST SERVICE.

THEY WERE TERRIFIC -- THEY CAME PROMPTLY TO DO AN ESTIMATE, DID THE WORK ON THE DAY THEY SAID THEY WOULD, COMPLETED THE JOB QUICKLY, AND HAULED AWAY THE MESS. THEY WERE CONSCIENTIOUS, BEING VERY THOROUGH IN CONFIRMING THAT THE CHIMNEY WAS UNUSED (E.G., BY THE FURNACE OR WATER HEATER) BEFORE BEGINNING THE JOB. AND THE BILL WAS LESS THAN THE ESTIMATE! I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE THEM BACK FOR OTHER ROOFING JOBS.
Description of Work: THE CREW REMOVED BRICKS FROM AN UNUSED CHIMNEY THAT HAD FALLEN OVER DURING A BIG STORM, ROOFED OVER THE HOLE LEFT WHERE THE CHIMNEY HAD BEEN, REPAIRED THE GUTTERS DAMAGED BY BRICKS FALLING OFF THE CHIMNEY DURING THE STORM, AND HAULED AWAY THE DEBRIS.
