David Hood Roofing

The initial assessment and quote was great. When I called I was in touch with a Michael and he came out gave us a quote and was very quick to respond when I would email him with a questions. Once we picked our roof, I was told we would get a call 4-6 weeks. After 6 weeks I had to email Michael 2 or 3 times asking if someone was going to call cause we never got a call. Then in Jan when it was 0 we got a call they wanted to come and replace the roof. I really did not feel comfortable with them replacing the roof with it being 0 and snow on the roof, Plus I work from home and I am on the phone all day, I made it very clear I would need a weeks notice to schedule so I could clear my calendar. I had asked them to please call my cell not my husbands, we had them call 3 times wanting to come out the next day, finally we were going to have a nice day 30's I said fine, I was luckily able to clear my work schedule to do other things besides be on the phone. They did the work in 2. 5 days, when they were done it was a Friday night and we go rains my husband went to look in the attic and it was leaking we called the on call person who was GREAT!! he came out within 30 min and went up in the pouring rain and took picture, the original workers forgot to seal the chimney. The gentlemen that came out, I think he went by D was so sweet and sealed it and gave us his cell in case we had any other issues that weekend, prior to Monday. We come to now. The originally team did not clean up the mess in the back yard with plastic and debris in our yard and there is a spot on the porch that is leaking we told them we wanted them to look at. We had called Ryan who set up the work and he does not have a voice mail my husband called numerous times then finally called the secretary who gave him Tom to talk to, we voiced our concerns and what we wanted done. It has been 2 weeks and no one has gotten back to us, they originally stated they were out and cleaned up but no one let us know and there is still garbage from them in the back yard and the porch roof still leaks. Needless to say we will not pay the remainder till these things are fixed. I am very disappointed with the follow up with the team we got. They then went on to do our neighbors roof, I feel like they hurry to get the job done and then on to the next, no follow up.

Work was subbed out. Arrived without notice, unable to clean gutters, roof covered with snow. Second time given notice, we called them to say roof was covered with snow. They arrived anyway. Unable to do work. Third time arrived without notice and cleaned gutters to our satisfaction. Workers were pleasant and capable Photos were taken before and after.

Fabulous company! I really like them. They're just top-notch. I was pleased with the outcome, and the knowledge they gave me about proper gutter maintenance. They're very honest and reliable. They're not cheap, but they're dependable.

We discovered a large amount of water in my kitchen in the morning after a heavy rain. After trying to determine the problem myself, I decided to give the professionals a call. When they arrived they quickly got to work finding the problem which turned out to be a loose vent boot. The boot was replaced and they resealed and checked my entire roof for other issues. The guys that worked on my roof were very polite and worked quickly. I would definitely call these guys again if I needed to.

I was very satisfied with this follow up visit. There was no additional charge. This follow up visit was initiated by David Hood Roofing. I was impressed by their responsiveness to my first review.

I chose David Hood because they've been in business for a long time, leading me to think they've got to be a reputable company. I saw one of their billboards and called them for an estimate on my parents house. They were the lowest bidder, the salesman was very pleasant to work with, and I trusted they'd do a good job. I was very satisfied! The work was done efficiently, with care for our family's home, and the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend using David Hood. A great local contractor.

II was disappointed with Hood because I have used them before. I called the first time to fix a leak in a shallow pitch roof and to assess whether anything needed to be replaced. The leak was fixed with a tar patch only to leak a few days later in a different spot. A second call resulted in more tar patches which did not fix the leak. Finally a third visit by a supervisor identified the problem area around a stack vent which was patched. Only at the third visit was replacement of the flat and shingled gable suggested. All of the calls were answered promptly but I wasted money and time before replacing the roof and gable using another contractor.

Sales person was on time to measure for new gutters, explained their product well. was professional etc. Said it would take a week to get written estimate. I had to call back to remind them however was prompt after that reminder call. I almost chose them to do the work however found someone else with same price range who would do a few more things besides replacing the gutters. overall I'd pursue them again for work in the future if needed.

I didn't anticipate it to be that much, but I do have a lot of trees around my home. They did a nice job.

This company responded very quickly, extremely thorough, very friendly, and always on time. They provided before and after photos of everything on the roof and all the work they did. They also provided me with a full report that matched the itemized invoice. We couldn't have asked for better work/service. I'd recommend them to anyone.

It went wonderful, they were very professional and neat. They cleaned up after themselves each day. They were even courteous enough to help me carry in my groceries.

David Hood roofers did the work about a month after we agreed on it. They didn't let me know when they would be coming, and I had just reached the point of thinking they had forgotten me when I saw the workmen on my roof when I was on the way home one day. My main complaint is that they estimated the job "in the $500 range" and it ended up costing $697. I spoke with the workman while he was on the roof, and he didn't indicate that he had encountered any complications, and I had no reason to expect the 40% price increase until I received the invoice. If I had known the job was significantly higher than 500 I would have gotten a second estimate before agreeing to the work. My bigger concern is that I had the face of my house pointed a few months later by another company and those workmen identified immediately a major problem with another part of my roof that no one from David Hood had mentioned. This is not something I could see from the street, but according to the masonry workers, it was immediately obvious upon going up the ladder that the boxes gutters in the front of my house had not been flashed and that there were openings that animals could crawl into. I don’t understand why no one from David Hood mentioned this to me. After receiving the invoice from David Hood Roofing I contacted them to let them know that I was unhappy with both of the above problems. The very nice woman on the phone told me, after checking back with the workmen, that they didn't tell me about the second problem because they weren't there to do a whole roof inspection. I find this unbelievable. I never get up on the roof of my very tall house, so I have to trust workmen to tell me what is going on up there. How could they not have seen something that was so clearly obvious to another workman and not mention it? Also, I don't understand how a company with so much experience could be this inaccurate in estimating the cost of a simple job. Finally, I am not happy that they didn't let me know once they got on the roof that the estimated price was not accurate. For those of you who are looking to have roofing done, you might find it useful to compare these figures. David Hood charges the following: $95 for the service fee to get to your home and $130 per hour for the 2-worker team that will work on your house. They quoted me $65 per hour for labor, but I didn't understand that they never send a single worker, for safety reasons.

went well till the end of the job.... then a roofing shingle fell on my alum. awning.. awning was damaged... I cannot get a return call the roofing co. on how to proceed with payment for repairs.

Prompt return calls and appointments. Accurate estimates. Arrived on schedule. Completed the job in a professional and competent manner. Were very nice to work with and have at the house. Were accommodating for removing the gutters and satellite dish and took extra time to re-do trim when they were not satisfied.

It was great. I got excellent service. Everyone was very courteous, cleaned up, and Ryan did a great job coordinating everything. Ray is honest, has high integrity, and good at his job. I got prompt service.

They finally answered the phone. We’ve been using them for years. It’s long complicated story. They were bought out and that’s what we used. They were sold out to another company and I don’t know the name of the company that that took over. The gentleman that was here is excellent. They were very good.

Just from the initial call, these people picked up the phone and had someone out within 2-3 days. They were so professional, so friendly, they explained everything they were doing. I was just so amazed.

Because they specializes in maintaining and replacing slate roofs and we have had them care for our roof for years, they are the only company we trust to take care of it. They are sometimes pricey and could be somewhat more responsive, but they know what they're doing.

They did a very good job on both projects... (I've attached before and after pics.)

Don called and left a voicemail stating that he could not do the work and talked about workmanship / asbestos, suggested another roofing company and said "to be honest with you, there are so many impatient people in this neighborhood [Squirrel Hill]" then continued to tell a story about a guy being impatient in a BMW and concluded by saying "I really don't need people like that" David Hood & Sons has done work for my family since day one of their business. My grandfather was a close friend of the founder; they have maintained my grandparents roof and installed my parents roof, but they don't need people like me? I'm extremely disappointed in the way they handled this situation.

I found this company to be very prompt and responsive to my needs. They returned my initial phone call within an hour of my call. The roofer arrived on time. He and I discussed the problem, he inspected the roof and confirmed the problem, explained my options and corrected the issue. All within a half hour time frame. I am very pleased with his work.

Shortly after, the repair started to leak again. Numerous phone calls were made to request someone to come and look at it. Most times I would only get an answering service. When I did actually speak to someone they promised to send someone out, but noone ever showed. Very frustrated with the lack of response.

They came when they said they would. The sent the estimate through the mail.

It was hard to reach them. They indicated that they needed to life up our tiles to insert the gutters. They had to do both at the same time. When they came to put the gutters in, they did not lift tiles. We trusted them to do it because they have a good reputation, but they didn't. They also gave us the wrong color tiles.
