Chimney Cricket

Called and was immediately sent to voice mail, and the mailbox was full. F for professionalism. Is this company still in business?

They were pretty good with the house but they overcharged me with the chimney caps. The were a little bit high on the price, but other than that, they cleaned up well, in and out.

eded chimney cleaned before we moved in to house. Worked quickly. Came out to do work within a couple of days after I called. This man does have a heavy accent (mentioned in another review) but he works with a younger man who speaks English as his first language. So no problem there, and they do good work at a reasonable price.

This guy was really good. He has a great personality. He did a thorough job. He does not try to wheel and deal you. He was honest with me and gave me some great advice.

They were very professional and honest. They did a good job with our cleaning and gave us good advice on how to keep our chimney clean and how often we should clean it.

Chimney Cricket is highly rated on Angie's List. I was concerned about my gas log fireplace because during a heavy rainfall water had come in, and I wanted to make sure that it was safe. When they came out they were very professional and very clean. They cleaned my chimney but they weren't able to help me with my gas log problem. I don't think they are familiar with gas logs as they are with traditional fireplaces. Overall, everything went fine. I would not use this company in the future because they don't know about gas logs but if I have a chimney problem I would definitely would use them.

They came in right away, where other people wouldn't come right away. I thought they charged a lot to put the chimney cap. They were here for 2 minutes and they charged $50 to do the work. They were good. They didn't clean from the top, but they only cleaned from the bottom, which might sound odd. I had it clean before. They went on the top of the roof and cleaned it, but this time they went just on the bottom.

They were pretty responsive. We called them and they were able to come out that day. We didn't get any other quotes. We would use them again.

Asked for an estimate, which he provided and was ready to do the chimney sweep the same day...surprise! I agreed and he and son did a good job in next 45 minutes, readjusted our fireplace grate and provided an estimate for a new grate if we wanted it. Very satisfied overall, would recommend.

He was very nice, and came out on a Sunday morning. He came out when he said would, knew what he was doing, and was able to fix the logs quickly. I was very pleased with his work.

Three men came the day after we called. Very efficient in diagnosing problem (open space in flue) and repairing quickly. Clearly this gentleman knew what he was doing! Cleaned up, answered all our questions. Would definitely call again.

When the owner showed up to my house to give me an estimate, as well as perform the service, he barged into my home without introducing himself. Then, he proceeded to argue with me over the number of chimneys that I have in my house! I have 1 chimney, and he insisted that I have 2 - which is obviously not true! He then proceeded to walk all through my home, trying to find a second chimney. He then insisted that we needed a new chimney cap which was going to be much more than the original estimate (to just clean our chimney). I stated that I needed to discuss this with my husband first, and he rudely said that it needed to be done and it was going to happen. He said that it was a "custom cap" (which he happened to have in his truck). After he charged several hundred dollars for the service, I saw the same exact chimney cap at the local hardware store for approx $70. My husband then posted a complaint on google, which the owner responded to stating that he would refund us our money if we were unhappy with the service. When my husband called them to receive this refund they, instead, offered a free chimney cleaning and did not refund our money. I would never recommend this company to anyone and I would never use them again. We were extremely dissatisfied with their professionalism (or lack thereof) and their prices.

Based on Angies List reviews, I called the company a week ago to inquire about cleaning our chimney, and left a voice message. They called me back within 10 minutes and scheduled the work for this morning. They showed-up right on time, and did the work cleanly and professionally. Their vacuum worked well and left no dust on adjacent furniture. It took only about 15 minutes of work, plus 5 or 10 minutes at the beginning and end to set-up and remove equipment. It is hard for me to assess quality, but the chimney looks clean. They noted approvingly that I already had a chimney cap, and said that the chimney was in good condition. They did not try to sell me any other products or services. Their price was good - about what I had paid another company for the last cleaning 3 years ago, and 25% less than a current competing offer. I would definitely recommend them.

I called on Friday with the intention of setting an appointment for an estimate. The owner of Chimney Cricket, Kemal Dziho, and his assistant were in the neighborhood, gave me the estimate which seemed fair, and had time to do the job, so I gave them the go-ahead. They were careful about protecting the area around the fireplace before inspecting it and proceeding with the cleaning. We are having a lot of work done in our house at the moment, so it was a bit of a challenge to work around the construction, but they were careful and efficient. Both men were polite and didn't seem to mind my hovering - having never watched a chimney sweep in action, I was curious. I would definitely recommend him.

Kemal and crew actually arrived before the scheduled time due to another appointment that cancelled and did call first. He immediately started trying to sell me a chimney cap while I was more interested in the condition of the cement crown. A home inspector had indicated the cement crown was cracked and needed attention. Kemal inspected the crown and said it was fine, but that a cap was needed to keep rain and critters out. After negotiating and checking cap prices on-line, we agreed on a price. While the chimney was very dirty from lots of use by the previous owner, it did not take Ed long to clean it out, even the ashes left over from last season's fires. Elapsed time was probably 45 minnutes and then the two of them installed the stainless steel cap which I could now afford since the cement crown did not need to be replaced. Over all, I was satisfied was the service and professionalism but was put off by the immediate up-sell with the cap. I made the first contact with the company on a Monday, and because they were in the area, were able to do the work on Wednesday, so very good in responsiveness.

I set up an appointment to have my chimney and gas logs cleaned, as I have never had it done in the 3 years I've owned my home. The fact that I had a chimney swift nest in the flue pushed things along as well. I called Chimney Cricket and one other service and their prices were about identical. Based on the previous reviews in Angie's I decided to go with Cricket. They were able to set up an appointment on the first day I requested, 10 days from the day I called. The gentlemen arrived about an hour after the appointment time, which isn't bad compared to other services I've had (and they called at the appointment time to let me know). They put down mats to protect the carpet and were very polite (even letting me know before they were to start the vacuuming). One person worked on the inside while the other was on the roof sweeping. I was told that part of the flashing had come off of the exterior chimney, they repaired that with caulking for free. Due to the swift I also had a chimney cap installed so that I never again had to deal with their flapping wings for 3 straight weeks. All-in-all a great experience, I just had some concerns about the quality of the cleaning work (since you really can't see the results) as they were only at my house for about 45 minutes in total, but I assume they did a good job. Finishing touches, I was not pressured to have the work done annually, in fact I was surprise when they said I only needed to have it cleaned every 4-5 years. And they set up my gas logs in a different, more stylish way that makes the fire much more visible, a nice touch!

Contacted provider after contacting another contractor. This contractor had more favorable price although the other contractor offered a waterproofing service. Work completed when promised,

Couldn't even get them to show up for an estimate (or if they did, they didn't contact me afterwards to give me a price, or say "it's too big a job" Or say "It's too small a job".)

He was on time and very efficient. He was very clean and also very knowledgeable. He even gave me a discount.

He came out for an estimate. It went very well. The chimney was leaking inside and we haven't had any problems since.

They were professional and punctual, and I have had good results with them. I would rate them highly.

The day I called to have the work done, 2 men came to my house very promptly (within 2 hours) to give me an estimate. To repoint the chimney and put a cap on, he estimated it would cost $1,100. I felt that was a little high in price but decided to proceed with the work anyways. The next day, I had to work so I had my girlfriend at my home while the men did the work. After 2 hours the work was completed and she paid them. The following day when I looked at the work they had done in the daylight, it was clear the chimney was not straight. I called them to come back out and take a look at it. Although it seemed to be functional work, it was not clean and certainly not worth $1,100. he refunded me $500 which I felt was fair due to the functionality of the chimney's appearance, but I would not hire him again due the hassle of calling him back and taking a day off of work to be there to wait for his return.
