We just purchased our house, which has a wood-burning fireplace and was built in the 60s. We weren't sure what it's condition was. Chimney Cricket came out (on a holiday weekend) to check the chimney, clean it, and also located some issuses with the damper, which they fixed. After they were finished, they went through and explained what they did and how to work the damper.

The work performed was excellent. They arrived earlier but called first to be sure that was ok which was considerate. I had a carbon monoxide incident at my home. The heating contractor found that the flue was blocked with trees branches and debris and needed to be cleaned and told me to call a chimney sweep. I found Chimney Cricket through Angie's List and used them in the winter for my fireplace chimney. I selected this company based on their reviews for cost and service. I explained the situation to them when they arrived and they took apart the pipe connecting to the boiler and hot water heater to the chimney and cleaned the chimney from top to bottom. They installed a chimney cap which was an unexpected but necessary expense considering the amount of debris in the chimney as I live in a wooded area. Mr. Kemal quoted the price for a smaller cap but when they tried to install it they realized they needed a larger cap which was installed quickly and looks great. Mr Kemal charged me the quoted price and did not charge me more for the larger cap. Amazing! They also cut the tree branches around the chimney for me which was extremely kind and put them in the mulch pile. Then they re-cemented around the pipe from the boiler going to the chimney even though the heating contractor had made that hole in the wall. I am very grateful for the work that was performed. A very honest and efficient company as well as cost effective. Thank u so much.

Our (excellent) general contractor, Mike Komaniak, happened to be there when Mr. Kemal Dziho and his assistant arrived. Mike stood with us as we talked to Kemal. We asked about adding a cover that would keep the chimney a wildlife free zone. He explained that the cap we had over the chimney in the addition was not animal-proof. He then demonstrated the flue for us. Mike said that he had never seen one like the flue Chimney Cricket offered. It is a superior product that has an air and water tight seal. With Mike's blessing, we agreed to the work. The addition to the original house includes a fireplace on the ground floor which shares a chimney with a fireplace directly below it in the walk-out basement. We had no idea that each fireplace has its own flue. We thought since they shared a chimney, they shared a flue. After the install, Kemal demonstrated the flue. It is very user friendly. When it closes you can here a definite "thunk" so there is no question that it has sealed. Kemal educated us and did a superior service for us. I didn't get quotes from any other Sweep service so I do not know about comparison pricing. Over the years, I have, however, learned that you get what you pay for. I feel we got an excellent product and service as well as peace of mind. Every time we move into a new (to us) home, we always call in a chimney sweep. You would be surprised at the number of people who neglect having this maintenance done. It's scary, as it is a fire hazard. Think of it as protecting yourself from Mayhem.

They did a nice job. They were careful and took care of everything. I would use them again in the future.

We contacted Chimney Cricket because there was an animal in one of our chimneys. They told us to do a chimney cleaning (including animal removal) it would cost $149. They indicated that they had many stops in our area the next day, but would squeeze us in. They arrived promptly and were courteous, but they were unable to do a cleaning because our chimney is sealed on the inside of our home. My husband and the representative banged on our chimney and concluded that the animal had escaped (or died) because there was no sound. They offered to put caps on both of our chimneys to avoid future animal intrusions, which we agreed to. We were a little surprised by the price to install the chimney caps, but are happy if it means that we won't have to hear an animal clawing at our walls.

Estimate and repair was scheduled and completed very quickly. The top of my chimney and crown were in bad shape. Some of the brick was replaced and the replacement bricks didn't fit exactly the same. So some bricks on the corners stuck out a little too far making the lines uneven. The mortar lines weren't all that clean as well. Overall I am fine with the repair since i know the chimney and crown are solid. Up close I am a little disappointed with the look but from the street you can't tell that a repair was made... so take that for what its worth.

These guys are pros! Within 3 days I was given an estimate and all the work was completed. They showed up on time and worked fast... Done before lunch. Their pricing is also very competitive! I would use this company again. Great job!

I called Chimney Cricket requesting an estimate on a chimney lining. They agreed to come out on a Sunday morning, and were the only one of three who even returned my call. So far, so good. However, when he arrived Sunday, he pulled open my flu, saw daylight (like I had also done), and wrote me up a $59 bill for a chimney inspection. I had never requested an inspection, and was definitely not informed that there would be a charge for the estimate. The technician who visited wouldn't even give me an estimate; he said he'd need to see the new heater once it was installed. (This may be true, but I explained to him over the phone that I was having a new heater installed, and they wanted me to get the chimney lined. Hence my need for an estimate.) Full disclosure: I'm not an aggressive person, and although I seemed unhappy, I didn't make clear to this person how truly upset I was by their business model. I am a part-time contractor, and I am fully capable of visually inspecting a chimney with a 1-minute check for daylight. That's why I was requesting an estimate, not this outrageous rip-off. UPDATE: They did return my check after reading this review (albeit to the address of the vacant rental property, and not to my home address listed on my check). I've upgraded several "F" scores to "C"s in light of that responsiveness.

The owner came out to bid on this job and went up on the roof for an up-close personally inspection of the damaged chimney. He came back on the agreed day and time to clean and repair the chimney in a professional manner. I was very pleased with the work and especially pleased with the cost!

He did an excellent job fairly quickly and I thought the price was reasonable compared to other estimates I had. He also gave me advice on an easier way of using my fireplace, which I didn't do often because it took too much effort. I also asked how the roof looked. He told me it wasn't urgent, but I should probably look into a new roof in the next year or so. Since he doesn't do roofing, I trust his opinion, He cleaned up everything after the work and I'm happy with the service.

They were great. They left the house spotless. We were given 2 options with the damper.

They were a thousand plus cheaper then everyone else.

My experience was fine. They were able to fix the problem. I wanted them to come out to give an estimate and they ended up fixing the problem.

James the technician was prompt and courteous. He quickly identified the problem & got the pilot light working again. Very pleasant young man.
