Description of Work: Had worked with them twice in the past with excellent results. I signed contract for a roof repair in November. They never did the repair until February and after I specifically asked to be notified before the repair crew came to my house, they showed up when I was not home (and the roof was covered in snow and ice) so I could not verify that the correct repairs were done. After talking with a manager a month later, he apologized and sent me pictures and explained the repairs that were done. Though I've found their work to be very good, they do have a problem with internal communications as well as communications with the customer.

Description of Work: Estimator named Bob from Burns & Scalo came out to have a look at my roof to give an estimate to replace it. He seemed knowledgeable and nice enough - but his pickup truck leaked oil all over my driveway. He claimed his computer crashed and couldn't get me an estimate for a few days. Reviewed what I had and took his leave. After several days I emailed him inquiring about the estimate and he replied he didn't have the formal estimate ready but knew it would be $10,690 for a 20 square job! Seriously - over $10k for a relatively small job? I replied that his price seemed horribly high compare to others I had gotten and asked if he perhaps quoted me "Lifetime" shingles vs. 30 year ones. My roof is a relatively low 5/12 pitch 2 story with 2 small porches and no chimneys or unusual work that would need to be done. His reply: "Twenty squares from us is price with 30yr shingle thanks for opportunity anyways" Even estimating materials relatively high at $150/square you'd be looking at $3000 for materials - leaving over $7000 for overhead/profit/taxes/disposal? I wish I could make that sort of profit in my job. I won't ever bother calling Burns & Scalo again about roofing - they very obviously don't want to deal with the residential customers - unless they can overcharge you by thousands and thousands of dollars. Maybe they're good for Commercial - but after this experience I won't be calling them for my office work either.

Description of Work: They were professional and courteous. They cleaned my gutters and renailed a couple of gutter hangers that had pulled off from the roof. They could have re-directed and made sure the gutter they reattached flows better? which they did not seem to get right/perfect?

Description of Work: Called for an estimate. It took several weeks and more than one phone call to get the estimate scheduled and then several more weeks to actually receive it. The estimate was the highest I received. It was, however, detailed and precise.

Description of Work: Arrogant and unresponsive after many attempts on my part as well as a generous dose of patience that I was happy to provide as it is summer but there is a limit where a customer's patience becomes disrespected as it was in this case.

Description of Work: This company returned my call and set up an appointment for 2:00 PM on a Tuesday. Although I waited for the rest of the afternoon, no one showed up, nor was there any telephone call explaining why either on that or subsequent days.

Description of Work: We had a dramatic leak in our roof associated with a minor waterfall into our bedroom. They came quickly and repaired the obvious holes in the roof by caulking for $395. Regrettably that reduced the water leak but did not stem it completely. We then agreed to a second extensive repair with new flashing and tiles that appears to have solved the problem. As we were under a time pressure to complete the repairs prior to initiating a previously scheduled contract to paint the bedroom, I was particularly grateful to Bonnie Haney and Jim Lewis for scheduling so that the repair was completed on time.
