Description of Work: These guys came to our home twice to fix leaking bath tub faucet. After struggling (and banging on the fixture) for few hours the first time, the plumber said that he couldn't get part called "seat" out, and so we will need a more involved repair, including possibly going behind the wall etc. We haven't heard from them for a week, we made 2 calls to this company asking what's next? No one returned our calls. After 1 month or so we were billed for this unsuccessful visit. Basically they expected us to pay for damaging our faucet farther...and making it unusable. |I called again, and yes they dispatched another man. He confirmed that more work needs to be done, and that someone will call us with an estimate. It was over 2 month ago, and we haven't heard from them yet. No invoice though, but I am not holding my breath on that one. |We are definitely not using their services anymore. Very poor performance and practically total lack of communication. I am actually glad they didn't do anything else (ripping the wall etc.), after I heard other consumers' horror stories.

Description of Work: Replaced an old gas water heater and changed the flew to a smaller more size-appropriate one. Concreted it into the wall to ensure no gaps. Work completed in less than three hours. Carted out all old materials. Explained the difference in my old tank and the new one. Explained how all of the controls worked. Bill was very professional. Tim followed up in less than one hour to see how it went and to I sure our was satisfied with the services rendered.

Description of Work: I have muliple properties in the Pittsburgh area. Some of them with very old and strange heating systems. Marty seems no to be phased by any of them. He opens it up and says lets see wahts going on. I even inquired if I should replace my old boiler and he told me NO. there is nothing wrong with the one that is at least 50years old. very honest.

 + 0 moreThe water heater had rusted and was producing rust colored water. Mr. Flaherty and his crew came to the home promptly and made many suggestions for improving the situation, as well as providing for our increased hot water requirements. He gave us an estimate, and returned promptly to replace the water heater. No problems were encountered. He also did a thorough evaluation of our HVAC system to improve our second floor cooling needs. He followed this with alternatives to our current system.
Description of Work: Mr. Flaherty installed a larger more efficient water heater, as well as checking out the HVAC system for cooling improvements.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreWe came home from vacation to find that our hot water heater had leaked all over the basement. Instead of flowing right to the drain about 3 yards away, the water worked its way into the carpet in my office. I called Flaherty and about 3 other plumbers who I've seen in the neighborhood. Two were much higher in price and one was the same price as Flaherty. I went with Flaherty since they were the first to respond and have been cheapest on other minor projects in the past. Mr. Flaherty sent a plumber over at the agreed on time. The plumber tried to save us money by fixing the old hot water heater, but it could not be salvaged. The new heater was on his truck and was installed within an hour. He also added a few features to bring the system up to code (an expansion chamber), but I was forewarned by Mr. Flaherty when he gave me the quote. All in all, it was a good experience for a crummy way to return from vacation. I give them an A!
Description of Work: We came home from vacation to find that our hot water heater had leaked all over the basement. Water was coming from the cold water input at the top of the unit. The plumber they sent tried to save our old hot water heater by replacing the inflow nipple (which had not been doped or taped during the previous installation). That fix did not work because there was a leak within the unit. He then proceeded to replace the unit at the previously agreed to price.

 + -1 moreSo I was very happy with the service, but the price was higher (as well as one for another non-emergency service that I declined due to price)than just a couple years ago, according to receipts I had saved. Thus, I would recommend them definitely for an emergency but would shop around and compare prices for nonemergency work.
Description of Work: Plumber dismounted worn out kitchen sink faucet that had been leaking and installed a new one. Although I was unable to leave a message the night before when I discovered water under the sink, the company did send a plumber within a few hrs of my call the next morning. After plumber suggested that faucet wasn't worth repairing and replacing, he showed me what he had on his truck. Since it wasn't my style, relatively pricey ($150), and not a recognizable brand (helpful if one plans to sell the house), we arranged that I would go out and buy a faucet, then call for him to return later that day. That happened, which I really appreciated, since the kitchen water had been turned off, and he installed the less expensive, name brand faucet by 2:30 that day.

sewer cleaning
 + -1 moreWe consider it a minor miracle that our main sewer line was unclogged on a snow day. We will continue to use this company for all plumbing needs non emergencies included.
Description of Work: Mr Flaherty came to our house, because we called his company. Our main sewer line was broken. He used an electric eel through the housetrap and opened our sewer at 53 feet taking out 2 foot long out wined tree root. His workman returned 4 weeks later to put root x treatment through the sewer.

 + -1 moreWas available for an emergency, as we only have the one ''water closet'', arrived promptly, was pleasant to my neighbor, who let him in and restrained the dog. Friendly and efficient.
Description of Work: Ran auger through second floor water closet to clear waste paper clog, cleaned jets and port holes, dye tested tank and flushed with paper to test.

 + -1 moreWHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS THE FIRST CALL IN THE MORNING, BETWEEN 8 AM AND 8:30 AM. WHEN HE DID NOT SHOW UP BY 8:30, I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS THE SECOND APPOINTMENT. THE PLUMBER ARRIVED AT 9:15. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, EXPLAINED THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF MY SYMPTOMS, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE ACTUAL CAUSE, AND EVEN PREDICTED THAT IT WOULD BE CAUSED BY ROOTS. MY HOUSE IS 70 YEARS OLD AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS TREATED.
Description of Work: THE DRAINS IN MY BASEMENT WERE BACKING UP AND THE BASEMENT TOILET WAS GURGLING EACH TIME THE WASHING MACHINE IN THE BASEMENT DRAINED. THE PLUMBER SNAKED THE SEWER LINE FROM THE HOUSE TRAP TO THE CURB. IT WAS SERIOUSLY CLOGGED WITH TREE ROOTS. HE ALSO TREATED IT WITH ROOTX, A SOLUTION SOLD ONLY TO PLUMBERS THAT ELIMINATES TREE ROOT GROWTH FOR ONE YEAR, AND RECOMMENDED ANNUAL TREATMENTS.
