.The installation could not have been done any better. One of the windows was a particular difficult one because a drop ceiling had been added to the room after the original window was installed. The interior window frame at the top was hidden by the drop ceiling. The new window looks great on both the interior and exterior. The work crew arrived on schedule and were very professional. Cleanup was also excellent. My wife and I are very pleased with our new windows.

The project went really well. A 3 man crew showed up around 9:30am and finished around 4:30pm. They took out a large bay window and installed a new one which was made up of 2 casement windows and 3 picture windows. The new window looks very good as well at the trim and flashing they installed. I wanted to have our front door replaced but my wife did not want to do it at the same time. After she saw The Window Nerds' work she now wants to do the front door. We'll definitely contact them when we are ready for the door.

Thank you taking the time to comment on your recent project with the WindowNerd. Your window did turn out nice. Not only is it going to keep you warm in the winter and cooler in the summer, now you can open and close those large casement windows and get cross ventilation. When you are ready theWindowNerd is just as good at doors. We can make them good looking, energy tight, and secure.

Without any hesitation, I strongly recommend the team at Taylor & Young / The Window N*** any of your window related projects. I was truly blessed with the good fortune when I accidently came across the guys at Taylor & Young in the Spring of 2015. To put our story into perspective, my wife and I first began replacing a few windows at a time as needed after one was accidentally broken soon after we first moved into our home in 2003. We knew we would eventually have to replace all the windows, but some sooner than others. At this time, we used a company that was offering a special buy one get one free. We ended up replacing 6 windows with this. Although the quality of the window from this unnamed company was good, the technician they sent ran into a little difficulty with one window and became frustrated. This had translated into the contractor cutting corners and left me quite disappointed by the finishing work inside and out. Later in 2013, after living with very poor quality replacement windows put in by the previous owner, we wanted to tackle the large picture window in our main living room over 12 feet across. We knew we wanted to turn this into a 3 separate and equal sized windows and get rid of the large picture window that had clouded up from a broken seal shortly after moving in. We found a second window contractor in the mail flyers. We sat through a high pressure sales pitch, stuck to our guns by insisting that we would give them this main window and if the workmanship was good, we would consider expanding to the remaining windows in our home. In this small job, we paid a high price per window, yet were satisfied with the technicians, and ultimately left disappointed by the salesman?s approach with us. In initial discussions with them, they indicated that if we did the rest of the windows, we would get a much better deal per window moving forward. Wanting to keep consistent product on our home and being happy with the technicians, we were initially interested in working with this second company, despite the high pressure from the sales team. A year later, after doing extensive research, settled on a number I thought was very fair per window and presented it to the sales person. I advised them that I was interested in the remaining 23 windows if they could come close to the number I presented. We were blown off by the company again. The price was more than fair. It was higher than their advertised price, but lower than we paid before. My wife and I decided quickly we were not begging someone to come work on our home. 8 months went by and this second company started calling us again, repeatedly. Each time I respectfully reminded them how they treated me and what they had committed to. Actually, a manager stated that I could deal direct with him and we would not have to sit through another sales pitch. I said, if you would like my business, simply send me a budgetary quote for 23 windows (they already had measurements on file) and we will talk. I advised them I was not sitting through another 3 hour sales pitch. Simply send a price. They blew my wife and I off again. In early, 2015, I had been recommended a quality, affordable replacement window made by Okna while at a local building materials company. It had a higher R-rating than the Anderson replacement. Little did I know, the other windows that I had just put in my home were Okna?s. By pure luck I had done something good. Now at this time, I was planning on hiring a local contractor and buying these Okna windows on my own. I was initially going to do another small 3 window job. As I began looking for Okna distributors, by pure accident, I ended up on the Taylor & Young Website. This is where the story has the unexpected turn and the most unexpected outcome. After speaking with Greg, we scheduled to have him come out and measure. Greg showed up when he said he would. Zero pressure, he began taking measurements to get pricing put in place. I asked him if he would measure everything and provide a quote so I could budget for the rest of the house (23 remaining windows). He spent time going through our home room by room. He listened as my wife and I talked about what we were trying to do, subtly provided suggestions based on what was clearly many years of experience. Greg provided options for us we did not know existed. Ultimately, we asked Greg to provide a price with installation by his company. He said, the price today would be the same price 6 years from now if Lisa and I decided to wait to do the work. His price was fair and in line with what I expected to pay. Without expecting to begin the project any time soon, our comfort level was so high, we contracted immediately with Taylor & Young for all 23 windows to finish our home. They advised when they could begin and began on time. After contracting, the install team came out for a second more accurate measurement prior to production and to calculated the grid design for our size windows. They turned out perfect. The one special window suggested by Greg was in our kitchen. To this day it is my wife?s favorite window in our home, that features 33+ windows. The detail and care put in by this team was nothing short of extraordinary. At no point did I have any buyer?s remorse after making this large investment. After 5 minutes with Greg, my wife and I knew we not only wanted to work with Greg to buy all 23 remaining windows, we knew we wanted this company to perform the work in our home. Even though Greg came out to provide pricing on windows only, his demeanor and professionalism earned him much more. When my wife and I moved into our home, a beautiful one of kind all stone custom ranch, we promised my neighbor that we would be good steward?s to the home her mother and father built in 1948. She was 81 years old. When Greg and his team came in to my home, at every step, they treated my home with the care and respect that I promised to my neighbor. She is 93 today. She has told my wife and I that we have done more to care for this home than anyone to include her own mother and father. I look forward to a day in the future when I could work again with Greg and the team at Taylor & Young.

Wow, thank you for the great story. Greg does a wonderful job of being a window nerd. I do not understand why the majority of companies in my specialty are so disrespectful with the slimmy off putting sales tactics. I can't imagine that they would want to be treated that way. I am glad that everything turned out so well. That big window was a challenge to get right. Your whole job was a little challenging.Your kindness and pleasantness to us was very refreshing. A thought that comes to mind after doing this for 30 years. I always want to be able to see you in the grocery store and feel like I can walk up to you and have a fun conversation about property, life, and family. I was blessed by the story you shared. It went great! From the very first meeting to discuss what we were looking for straight thru to the final window install, I was completely delighted. I immediately felt very comfortable with Greg during the quoting process. They are right to the point, are clearly interested in what makes the most sense for your project and do not try to up or over sell. Wayne and the team that installed the windows were prompt, courteous, extremely professional, and did exceptional work. It was the most hassle free process with no surprises and was unbeatable price wise! If I had more windows, these guys would be taking care of them. I would recommend these guys to anyone!

Thank you for your time in sharing this review. Thank you also for putting up with us through the holidays. I have been amazed recently at the extreme poor quality in most new construction windows. The new windows and doors will keep you warm and comfy, are easy to clean, and will last as long as you live in this home. You have done so many nice things to your home it hard to think of a reason why to move. I know we will be working in your neighborhood more and look forward to seeing you and your boys. theWindowNerd

Wayne (owner), Nick and Travis were great on my install. Wayne asked if I had any concerns before he started and there were a couple that were handled perfectly. Job took 2 days, which seems impossible before you see it done, but the guys were efficient, clean, and know what they're doing. It was great having the owner doing the work (as requested), I must say. Wayne offered unsolicited advice on a wonky front door and 2 large bow windows I will have to replace down the line. All in all, the process met expectations and they did everything they said they would, when they would. The windows were measured/fabricated properly; they also foamed the area below the window which not everyone does. Wayne's capping technique is pretty amazing and his attention to detail and accuracy prove he's a craftsman. He also was very nice to my kids, especially my 5-year old daughter, who was enthralled by what he was doing and full of questions. They weren't the cheapest, but I wanted the best value and feel like I got that--and the windows look great--what a difference. Will use them again and recommend them.
Thank you for taking the time to comment on the project we did for you. We continue to try and meet and exceed our customers expectations. Excellence is so often a moving target. The new windows are going to keep you comfortable and also be so easy to take care of. Those two front windows yet to be done will be very interesting and challenging to get just right. Between the two of us once the design is done my team will be able to execute the design. What a great family you have. I was blessed to get to meet you all.

We had builder grade windows in our home.....aka crap and were in dire need of replacement windows since many seals were broken and they were very drafty. We decided to split the project into 2 phases and had many companies come out to talk to us. We experienced many different sales approaches from the "If you sign now we can give you the Super Duper Deal of the month" to companies selling us low grade windows (based on ratings) for very high costs. Taylor & Young was completely different from the moment they came in. Their sales person gave me the information I requested and without being pushy or trying to take up 2 hrs of my time. We discussed the options, his recommendations based on experience......and he gave me a fair quote from the beginning for a top quality window. I'm going to be in the house a long time so I wanted a very solid window. When i agreed to move forward with the order they came out to do the measurements. Much to my surprise the owner of the company comes out to do the measurements and still installs the windows with his crew. We went over some final details and they put the order in. 8 weeks later they were ready to install. The crew came on time and started on in the rooms I requested first. What surprised me is how long it takes to actually install a window properly. In my old home they just popped them out and popped the new ones in....and they were very drafty. They took the window out cleaned the frame...did some work to a frame that had some rot from the window leaking.....Warning...it's a much messier job than I expected it to be......but the final results are worth it because the windows are airtight. The windows came out great....had absolutely no issues at all with the process. I would highly recommend T&Y to anyone looking to purchase windows. They are refreshingly honest in a line of work that is known to have questionable ethics to say the least. They provide a fair price for a top quality window and make sure the installation is done to perfection. There is no point to buying a good window if it is not installed correctly. You will not have that issue with T&Y. ****Update 3/18/16) **** Taylor & Young did the 2nd phase of our windows and again not a single issue. We moved up the date of the 2nd phase because of how superior these windows were to our old ones....you could feel the difference in the rooms....Wayne and his crew are fantastic to deal with......Something that is not very common in the window industry.

Thank you for your kind words. It was our pleasure to work for you and your family. The arch tops with extended legs caused me to choose cutting back the dry wall return jambs. That method gave a great finish but created a lot of dust. I will noodle on ways to control that in the future. The Okna/HiMark 800DX units will keep you comfortable with little to no drafts. I was shocked by how bad your windows were. From pocket sills, which are almost always a bad design, to glass not taped or back bedded to the frame, wow, amazing poor quality in such nice homes. It is our goal to treat you as our neighbor and help you find the product that best fits your goals. We are not perfect yet so we will keep on working at it.

Due to rain, my scheduled date had to be moved because of another client ahead of me, but I received sufficient notice and they were flexible and scheduled me for a Saturday which I appreciated. These guys are experts at what they do and were great to work with. Original meeting was to come out and review the site, take measurements, and select the type of door and hardware. While removing the two stationary windows, they noticed that an adjacent window's seal was broken and the window was "sweating". They offered to take out this window and use one of the other windows to replace it because the seal was not broken on it. When they completed their work, I asked what was the cost and they did not charge me for changing out the other window since they were already onsite and it just took a few minutes! Of course, I rewarded this extra special service with a big tip. What a great company.

This is the 2nd project we've completed with Taylor and Young and we couldn't be more satisfied. Greg, the salesman, really helped us to decide the right type and brand of windows for our budget and needs. Once we finally decided on the windows we wanted, the process continued to be smooth and very easy. After receiving the windows from the manufacturer, Wayne contacted us to find an installation date that worked best for us. The crew arrived on time, worked swiftly and were very professional. I couldn't believe how efficient they were and how fast it went. Overall, installation took parts of two days but the second day was really just putting finishing touches on the windows. We still have more windows that we need to have done and I wouldn't hesitate to use Taylor and Young. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs windows or doors.

It was not a bait and switch. It was that your project did not fit the parameters of the deal that were clearly defined. You did not know that your project would not work with the limits of the deal. I did once I saw your project and the type of install needed. Thus I approved the refund because the deal was not right for you. Now if you were forced to add money to the deal to meet the other requirements of your project not covered by the deal I could understand you being upset. I offered to do your project with the additional scope of work needed and made that offer with no pressure. Lets see you bought something, it did not fit, you returned a it and got your money back no hassles, and I get an F. Another case of our customers love us, but those that choose not to be customers whine and complain. Choose wisely. Ain't it great we get to choose.

The entire process from start to finish was excellent. Greg, the salesman, was very helpful and patient in helping us to select the right door type and style. There was no hard sell and he allowed us to take our time with our decision. Once we decided on the right door for us we just had to wait until the door was manufactured to schedule installation. We knew about the wait beforehand, so this was not a surprise. Once the door was ready, we scheduled installation and the installation was completed in one day. The crew that installed the door was very friendly and efficient. Further, they did excellent work and made sure to clean up once finished. I would definitely use Taylor & Young again and would refer them to friends and family.

The owner came out for estimate and he understands his products well. the pricing was competitive though still higher than the big box store but that's the trade off with better quality installation. the front entry door was installed well and went through the cold winter without any draft or issue. We also had him replace the side entry door seals because of drafty issue. he felt that would be sufficient but those replacement seals makes very little difference, so that probably was not a cost effective measurement. I would consider using them again in future window project. I still have a few windows that they provided a quote last year that I have not act on due to other priorities.

We're extremely pleased with the work that was completed. Our house is open and modern, wrapped in large windows that overlook our trees and property. When we acquired the house, it included windows that were installed with the original construction of the house. Not only were they terribly inefficient, but most of the seals were broken, resulting in a cloudy, obstructed view. With our new windows, we are so happy with our enhanced visibility and quality of light-- it truly makes a dramatic difference in our house. We live on a wooded property and installed Marvin Integrity fiberglass windows, and are glad we made this choice. Not only are we pleased with the windows, but also with the quality of work. Despite the terrible cold of the winter, Wayne and his associate worked diligently and expeditiously through this added challenge. They were timely, efficient, well-organized and thorough. The windows are perfectly installed, without any issue at all, and with more attention to detail that the installation of the original windows! In addition to replacing existing windows, Wayne also crated an opening and installed a new large casement in our master bathroom, which has dramatically enhanced this space with natural light and views to our property. In addition, Greg Anderson, who provided us with our initial quote, was very professional, attentive and accommodating. He was quick to follow up with answers to our questions, and thoroughly apprised us of all options. While this is something that you would expect from most providers, I can tell you from experience that NONE of the other companies we reached out to were quick to follow up or provide the level of service and responsiveness that we received from Greg and the team at Taylor and Young. He also has a great sense of humor and is a genuinely nice and honest person. If you are looking for replacement windows, I encourage you to reach out to Taylor and Young. Their pricing is fair and they stand behind their work. We will be using them to replace the balance of the windows in our home, and are happy to have found them.

Fantastic job! Greg came out and helped my wife and I arrive at what type of window we really wanted, went out to the car, and came back with a sample. Here is a good window. This is why it is a good window. Here is how much it costs. No hype, no up sell, no add-ons, no selling warranties, no trying to sell us windows for the rest of the house. Painless. We had been to one of the big box stores and priced a window just to get a feel for how much we were going to end up spending. The window from Taylor and Young, installed, cost less than just the window (no installation) from the big box store, and was a better quality window. Job was delayed one day due to weather, delay was communicated promptly, appropriately, and effectively. Day of the job the owner, Wayne, shows up to do the work, on time, with an assistant. No sketchy subcontractors. Everyone was clean cut and trustworthy -- would have had no issue leaving these guys alone in my house. Respectful of the property. Great attention to detail -- midway through the install I realized there was old hardware on the old moldings that I wanted to keep so I could match them to buy new ones. Went out and started rummaging through the trash heap. Found out Wayne had already set them aside for me. Takes pride in his work -- stayed behind to do a little extra patching on the wall around the window that could not be covered with the new moldings. Did the job in a professional manner, no issues, window looks great, showed me how everything works, left the place spotless. Would absolutely use them again for my next project.

Wayne from Taylor and Young - The Window Nerds handled my project. He contacted me within hours after I purchased an Angie's List deal to set up a time for a walk-thru. He keeps impeccable timing. Replacement was spot on- no hidden. The cost was for a Pella energy efficient low-e argon sliding glass patio door purchased with the exception of a common upgrade for a keyed door lock which was a flat $25 extra. His Craftsmanship and work ethic are 2nd to none- far exceeding any bar of what one would expect. The joinery was exceptional, every seam was sealed with caulk and not one detail was overlooked. Flashing was installed perfectly and the overall installation tied seamlessly into the existing adjacent construction. The threshold was replaced in entirety and all perimeter studs cavities were filled with insulation- both foam and batt, as appropriate. Not one detail was overlooked, and I would HIGHLY recommend this outfit for your door and window project. A great experience!

My first contact was with Greg, Wayne's son-in-law, who came out to the house to see the job and take initial measurements. I thought Greg was extremely professional, quite knowledgeable, and very responsive in getting back to me with my various options. There was a question as to whether the ellipticals were one unit with the doors and therefore would also need to be replaced. Greg didn't think so and when Wayne came out for final measurements, he confirmed the same. This saved me several thousands of dollars. I appreciated Wayne and Greg's honesty because other contractors tried to convince me otherwise. Installation was scheduled about 4 weeks out from the date I signed the work order, which, from previous experience with Pella, is quick for a custom order. And despite being a custom order, Wayne didn't require a deposit of any kind. Wow! I guess he sensed we were honest people too! Installation took one day with a crew of 4. And I can say without reservation, Wayne, Brett, Brett and Nick did a fantastic job! Their workmanship was almost flawless (one of the handles is not quite level but that shows you how picky I am!). I have used many window contractors over the years, all supplied by Pella, and after the job is done, I have always scrutinized their work. I don't believe any have done as meticulous a job as Wayne and Brett and their crew. Provided their prices remain competitive, I would absolutely use them again.

Thank you for your kind words. The handle you mention may be easy enough to adjust by loosening the two screws that hold it together and moving into proper alignment. I would come and do that now but I think your painter is going to remove and reassemble the handle after painting. Your project was of a concern due to the high expectations and quality that you desire. We get a lot of similar homeowners who want perfection. I do not know that anything is perfect but I would rate you project a 98. There were variables and bumps through the install which the team handled well. With the exception of BK we are all seasoned mechanics, two of us being master installers. Additionally we are Certified Pella installers, Marvin authorized, Andersen referred, Okna/Himark vinyl dealers, Inline fiberglass distributor, HMI doors dealer, Installation Master certified( the only earned independent national cert.), we also have two EPA registered RRP installers. Let me not forget Greg who embodies our approach of sales consulting with knowledge, care, respect and listening to help you find the best solution to your home improvement needs. We look forward to helping you with your next project. Thank you again for your very descriptive and kind words. wayne theWindowNerd at Taylor&Young

Greg from Taylor and Young showed up and took measurements and sizing information of 1 kitchen window, one bathroom window and 2 sliding doors, he seems knowledgeable about windows, we spent around an hour and he promised to email me quotes for the job from Anderson, Pella and another unheard window company in Pa., I stressed to Greg I was leaning towards a brand name since their parts are available in every big box home centers, but he kept assuring me that this other unknown company was as good as Anderson and Pella, I noticed also he carries sample of windows of that company only, he kept telling me that other windows will be much better in quality and I kept asking for quotes of all three. He gave me his business card which says windownerd.com , I really do not know who I am dealing with here, windownred.com does not exist anyway when goggled. 5 days passed and I called him and he said his Grandmother has passed away this past weekend and promised me to give the estimate in 2 days, it has been over 3 weeks and he never given me any estimate. I give this company an F overall and would not use them at all.

Everything was great. Wayne responded quickly after we purchased the Big Deal to set up the initial consultation and measurement. My wife met with Wayne and really appreciated his straight forward manner (no sales pitches) and extensive knowledge of windows and his product. We ordered the windows and set our installation date. Wayne's team started the job a day early and were very nice and professional. The were punctual in arriving and the job was done in 3 days - the time frame we were provided. The new windows look amazing and the installation was excellent, the windows were seamlessly replaced. I would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in their services. I will be checking back in with Wayne when we decide to replace our doors.
Description of Work: We purchased (3) sets of the Angie's List Big Deal, 4 windows for $1499 for a total price of $4497, for a total of 12 windows. Wayne came out and measured the windows and discussed all of our installation options which included set up, removal of old windows and capping. This cost an additional $1500 for a total price of $5997.

As usual Wayne of Taylor and Young provided excellent customer service, a far superior product and impeccable installation and follow through. We replaced 6 windows in our mid century modern home with 2 large sliders, 2 fixed pane and 2 large awning windows. All Triple pane and Low e glass. We have used Taylor and Young for all our kitchen windows as well. I cannot recommend enough this company, the products and knowledge they offer. I wish all the contractors where this good.

One of our windows cracked due to the extreme cold. I called them on January 14th at 8 am and got a recording that said they would contact us . Two whole days went by, and after repeated calls to them, no one has contacted us.
