We just had Window Nerds install windows in our home. The experience from beginning to end was amazing. We did our homework with numerous meetings with other window companies and researching window brands. The other companies very nice but the length of the sales pitches and the cost brought us back to Window Nerds. When the owner of the company comes out to measure your windows, that tells you they really care. The Crew who did the install were great. They answered every question, cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. From start to finish just real professionals. Would highly recommend this local company.

The Window Nerd recently installed 14 OKNA 800 double hung windows in my home.
From the initial inquiry to the final install, every employee that I interacted with was helpful, friendly, and informative. The process started with a visit from company owner Wayne Young. Wayne recommended the OKNA 800 window for my home. He also provided a few suggestions that allowed me to save some money
On the day of install, a team of five guys led by Brett and Nick arrived promptly as scheduled. Brett asked a few important questions about pets, the presence of alarms, and people in the house. He then recapped how the install would progress, and within 20 minutes of their arrival – work had already begun.
Clearly, this team had the process down. The install was scheduled for 2 days, and they were done by the middle of day 2. The windows look and operate beautifully.
I’m so glad I contacted Wayne for this project. I would have no hesitation recommending The Window Nerd team to anyone seeking a quality job at a competitive price.

Love The Window Nerd. We had our front door replaced a few months ago, they did an excellent job and left the area cleaner than before. This is our second time using The Window Nerd, they replaced our windows and sliding doors about 12 years ago. Both times communication was been superb and we’re really happy with the quality of work. Would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: Miss quoted the Angie's List big deal by charging me for screens which were included in big deal. 25.00 per window. I even sent email asking if that was a separate charge. Answer yes $25.00 per window I was told.... Poor business practice. I did not use.

[removed member name], We apologize for any confusion we may have caused, and wish we had known about your frustration with the pricing. The upcharge for screens was actually quoted at $12 additional to upgrade from a 1/2 screen to a full screen (as can be noted in our email communications). The 1/2 screens are included in the big deal pricing. While this offer was made 6 months ago and you did not make us aware of your concerns, we would be happy to offer you the project without the upcharge for full screens. As you will note from our other fantastic A reviews, we provide excellent service. Please let us know if we can be of service to you.

It was fun to work on your historic house. The new windows look so good. I know you will notice two things how quiet the new windows are compared to the old ones and how much warmer you will be in the winter. Also you will be cooler in the winter and the low e glass will reduce fading from the sun.

Everything was professional from start to finish. Wayne came a few weeks before and did the measuring and the estimate. Our cost was a little more than the 1499.00 deal because of the removal of the wood windows. The company sent 2 men out on 11/13/2013. They arrived on time and did a great job installing the windows with no mess and very little disturbance to the house. We are very pleased with our new windows and plan on using this company next year to install more windows.

Highly recommend using Wayne from Taylor & Young for your window needs based on his knowledge, honesty, and overall customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: We obtained quotes from several contractors for new windows and siding. Of all the contractors we spoke to, Wayne from Taylor and Young, was by far the most knowledgeable about windows. He was extremely thorough and knew the intricacies of the construction of all the windows we got quotes for and the windows he recommended. He gave us his honest opinion of all windows we asked about including the ones he recommends. He never pressured us into purchasing the windows he recommended nor did he pressure us into using his services. Unfortunately, in the end we chose a different window provider purely based on costs and our needs. The windows Wayne recommends all appeared to be of better quality (lower A.I. numbers) but were more expensive than the windows we chose. I believe you get what you pay for and if you are willing to spend a litle more, then you certainly will get better quality windows through Taylor & Young. However, for our purposes we may sell our home in the near future and couldn't justify the extra expense.

This was a problem installation and we knew it would be costly. We had one other estimate, which came in slightly lower, but after speaking to Wayne Young it was obvious he knew what he was doing. Mr. Taylor told us exactly what work was to be done, time frame for repair and was up front about the entire job. All work was completed by his very professional, skilled workers who were personable and friendly. They protected the entire room with cloths and were thorough with cleanup at the end. The window had a full door framed valance and custom drapery which the workers were kind enough to remove for us before work began. We enthusiastically recommend Taylor & Young for all work on your home. This a trustworthy, excellent company to deal with from start to finish. They deliver what they promise.

When I first saw your existing patio door I thought to myself "can we do this", I had never seen a concrete slab lift and crush the aluminum extrusion of a patio door. After speaking with several other highly rated window contractors, all of whom were unable or unwilling to create the assymetric windowscape that we wanted, we found Taylor and Young through a standard google search. After seeing a gorgeous windowscape on their website, we decided to give them a call. They were professional from the start, listened to our ideas and Wayne was willing to work with us to figure out how it could be accomplished. In addition to finding a way to install the windows in the arrangement we wanted, they also found that the windows could be installed and supported in such a way that we ended up with 2" of extra glass all around. The work was done efficiently and well, and we are very happy with the outcome. As a bonus, their price was substantially better than any of the other contractors we called, despite the fact that the work performed was more complicated than what others would have been able to provide.

One of the owners came to our house to show us the product and provide information for a bid on replacing all our windows (16). He came in very confident and knowledgeable, which initially impressed us. However, as we continued to work with him, it was clear that the process for him was "my way or the highway". I inquired via email about several options, including purchasing windows from him and having a trusted contractor install them. His email response was arrogant and rude. He accused me of not trusting him (hmmm, let's see, trust someone I know for 15 minutes or 15 years). He then proceeded to accuse me of listening to idiots and being a dope for asking the questions I did. Needless to say, this did not go over well. Even though I requested a formal proposal, he never gave me one. All I received was numbers thrown loosely into an email, no formal bid. I was sorely disappointed. I even called the regional distributor for the windows he was pushing to let him know about the irresponsible way this man handled a customer. I believe his products are good, but he is a classic example of someone who was probably a good overall provider once, but has gotten too high on his horse to serve customers with real dollars to spend. After interviewing many private companies that sell and install windows, we realized it is a closed community of vendors who manage to confuse customers, and therefore have little ability to work creatively with us. We ended up working with our trusted contractor, buying our windows from a box store (even though we tried SO hard to use a local vendor). But we received the service and product we asked for, which no one else could offer, and from a trusted professional. Sad story.

It is interesting to me that the two negative reviews that we have on the service are from people whom we never met and or who did not hire us. That is part of the process of finding out if we are right for each other. As for [Member name removed]s comments that I called her an idiot, I might think a thought like that but never communicate it. Many people become overwhelmed with the amount of choices in window replacement. The three main material choices clad wood, vinyl, and composite/fiberglass are a lot to deal with. Add to that the various options of triple pane, double pane, low e types, grids( snap in, GBG, or SDL), finishes both exterior and interior, interior casing selection, etc. Next is the decision on install method with two main choices of pocket insert or full frame. I think total product performance is very important, nobody seems to say my price is so low because the product and or install are substandard. It is difficult for most people to clearly evaluate the total performance, most companies hide the critical test results, contractors do not even know what to ask for. Install quality is as important as the product itself. I believe that the following are the most important things in the install: good and moral character, technical capability, long track record, and treating the home with respect. One size does not fit all can be helpful or troublesome depending on the type of person you are, there is more than mentioned above to consider. I do all the products mentioned and all the install methods and there by can cover as little or much of the details as the client wants, my meetings with a home owner can be anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours based on what they need to see and understand about their project. I have been called theWindowNerd by many because of the broad long boring experience that I have. The people we work for seem extremely happy, you will be too.

We decided to use Taylor & Young to provide and install our windows and doors after getting other estimates. They were priced reasonably and offered us a much wider selection of itmes of better quality than the competitors. This is a family-ownes business, and the pride they take in their work shows. We were provided with all of the information and pricing in writing and there were absolutely NO issues with additional "hidden fees" or "add ons". In fact, when our new storm door came in and was installed, the handle was at the same height as our deadbolt and there was just not quite enough clearance for both. They special ordered a low-profile deadbolt to match my existing hardware and made it right THAT DAY. The service was exceptional, their clean up and finishing impeccable. We so highly reccomend them that others in our family have used them and we will be calling them again for our roof!
Description of Work: Replacement of all windows from basic builder-grade exterior-installed windows to high-efficiency Okna double hung windows. Replacement of sliding glass patio dorr and screen and replacement of storm door with new glass panel storm door with high-visibility screen. Repair of trim around doors and windows.
