Yocum Shutters & Blinds

They have been very responsive so far. They have come out to measure for the project. We are waiting to do the installation.

It went well; no complaints. Approximate date is prior to Jan., 2011.

I used Yocum blinds 5-6 years ago and they did a great job!! Very pleasant, very responsive and professional! I absolutely love the shutters- a beautiful addition for my home and ability to have privacy when wanted.

Everything went perfectly!! We have 2 windows with 6 year old matching Silhouette window blinds. One blind was torn & needed to be replaced but it had to match the other window blind exactly because we didn't want to have to buy 2 blinds. Kimzey, from Yokum Shutters, Blinds & Flooring, came out to measure the torn blind & to choose the exact color. 4 weeks later, he came back to install the new shade (which took all of 3 minutes!) & it WAS a perfect match. I couldn't see a difference between the existing window shade & the new one. I was thrilled!

They were good. They did a really good job. They were really nice. They just did the job and was in and out.

They were excellent. I loved them. I specifically like that they have the person who comes and does the measuring for the shutters is the same person who comes back to install it. I thought the price was a little expensive but I haven't gotten prices from anyone else. They did have a little problem and they came back and they addressed that.

The entire process went very well. He ordered the blinds and installed them when they came in. He was very responsive to any questions that I had. He showed up on time and did a great job with the installation.

Frank from YOCUM SHUTTERS & BLINDS worked very closely with my wife and I to ensure that we got the best deal possible. He even told us of an upcoming rebate offer if we waited until January to have the shades purchased and installed. The installer was great work with. He came to measure and was very professional and pleasant to work with. Overall it was a great experience and I'd recommened this deal to anyone that is looking for shades / blinds for their home.

Provider called,on time was very polite and informative ,but his explanation of the $ 199.00 credit for shutters was not what was explained by your listing, I HAVE 2 SMALL WINDOWS, 72X34 AND THE COST WITH THE DISCOUNT IS OVER $ 700.00. MUCH MORE THAN I INTENDED TO SPEND

One was defective and the company replaced and installed it quickly.

I had already researched the blinds that I wanted so I thought I had a fairly good idea of the price that I was expecting. When I called Yocum Blinds, Jim Yocum was extremely friendly, had my file with him even though he was on the road and it had been some time since I purchased the deal (the holidays delayed me in calling), and took down my information. He called back with an estimate that was far more than I expected and I asked if the Big Deal was factored in, which it was. In that case, I really am not interested in going forward with the Big Deal and am requesting a refund. Thank you.

I purchased a big deal from Angie’s List. It wasn’t a good experience for me. I have decided not to purchase any Big deals from Angie’s List. By the time you get their figures and then get your figures and it was very unclear as to who pays what. It was very unclear as to who I would pay as I had to pay Angie’s for the special and then pay them their portion. The whole thing was quite knotty and quite unclear and I would not particularly want to do it again. This concludes Angie’s List policy and communications, explanations are very unclear. There was lot of back and forth about changing appointments and that sort of thing but in the end after a lot of rescheduling they came out and did the job. I am pleased with the way it works. There were no complaints or any problems about the choice or about the work that they did or the installation. There were several choices on the shades and it was absolutely what I wanted but the problem was about the communication and clarity about financial arrangements like who gets what and why as to how much Angie’s List. They told me that at the end but it very vague and not clearly explained. When they came out they were very professional and cleaned out the mess. There was lot of rescheduling but they came on the appointed time.

First of all I was shocked that Angies list billed my credit card for the $199 and not the vendor. In any case when we finally got the price for the work we asked about the $500 credit and were told that the price they gave us was already discounted and that the price for an Angies list customer was the manufacturers suggested retail which was much higher. This was very disappointing and will not use this company in the future.

They did a nice job. They were prompt. I really didn't compare prices with anybody else so I am hoping that I didn't over pay for anything but I was pleased. They were really friendly and accommodating and the guy came out and measured and he was good. And somehow it is really hard that when you measure windows things don't come back perfect but these are really nice.

Yocum responded to my initial inquiry immediately. Every person I dealt with was friendly and professional. I visited the showroom for advice and was able to make an informed decision. A representative came to my house to measure the windows and get a color selection. After the blinds were manufactured (approximately two weeks), Yocum called to schedule the installation. Because it was the week of Thanksgiving, I had to postpone the installation until the following week. The Yocum installer arrived on time and installed the blinds, cleaning up well afterwards.

From beginning to end everything went smoothly. As stated in the above comments, he met every request and appointment as I expected. Communication was excellent and service was extremely satisfactory.

The work was beautiful. The gentleman who came out to measure was very professional. They did a very nice job. The quality of work was great. The guy that I spoke with over the phone was easy to contact. They worked well with my schedule.

I recommend that AngiesList users avoid this company and shop around for a better deal than this company's "Big Deal". Jim Yocum measured my windows and then showed me a selection of various blinds. A few days later, he emailed a quote that was about $300 on top of the $199 AngiesList "Big Deal". I decided to go through with the installation to save myself the trouble of installing the blinds myself. The installer (Justin) came to my house on December 5. The first three blinds were installed without incident. However, the last two blinds did not fit inside their window frames. After I suggested to Justin that he bend the metal portion of the blind, he was able to force one of the blinds into the brackets. Unfortunately, the other blind would not fit no matter what he tried. I was told that a replacement blind would be ordered and that I would have to mount it myself. I refused to pay at that time. I received this email from Jim the following day: "I ordered your replacement blind. I had it shipped directly to you. Let me know when you receive it. At that point. I can take your payment." That's it. No apology, no sorry-for-the-inconvenience. I wrote a reply email expressing my disappointment that I would be doing any portion of the install for which I paid. I also noted the lack of an apology or a refund offer. Jim's reply was as follows: "You just have to simply put the blind in the bracket. This is not unusual in our business, and does not warrant a deduction in cost of the installation." Following Jim's reasoning, it would have been an "installation" if the installer had placed brackets on my five windows and then left all of the blinds in their boxes on my front doorstep. Having customers unpack and mount their own blinds is apparently "not unusual" with the Yocum business. I will be steering friends and coworkers far away from this company.

Mr. Yocum was very nice, however, I told him the price quote was way to high and I wouldn't be hiring his company for the job. He said it wouldn't be a problem to contact Angie's List and ask for a refund since I was not going to use him for the job. .

I had down-from-the-to-/up-from-the-bottom blinds installed on 2 bedroom windows and aluminum mini-blinds on 2 windows in our den. I am pleased with all the blinds. |Jim Yocum was very nice when we spoke & he gave me a general price over the phone of 587.20 for 6 windows. I asked him what happened to the $500 worth of blinds for $199. He said the $199 I paid was for Angie's List so that we could get the discounts that Mr. Yocum would give me. The $199 was not applied towards the purchase I made. He told me originally the blinds would be $1600+ w/o his discounts. |I feel that Angie's List was misleading or Mr. Yocum did not give me the price I was entitled to. I figured "it is what it is". |When Yocum Shutter's & Blinds' representative came to measure my windows, he wreaked of cigarette smoke, which was detrimental to my asthma. He was in torn jeans & did not make a very good first impression. When I was scheduling the installation, I told Mr. Yocum about the cigarette odor & he had his representative change his shirt before he came into my home. It was a marked improvement. |Overall, the work Yocum's did is excellent. The "deal" I got is questionable.
