Description of Work: I had a wall a/c unit replaced with a new window. Mak, the owner was great, very prompt and always called about the smallest details. The installers did a great job, very polite and clean. When the installers were placing the trim around my window, they ran into a problem with width for colonial trim, but they asked for my input and we came up with a solution together that I am very happy with. The whole process also took less than a month from initial call to install! Price was similar to other window companies that I spoke with.

Description of Work: Installed 10 double pane windows.Overall the job went seamlessly and the crew and owner were very nice. Zen windows was very accomodating w/ re: to my wife and my schedules. After literally 9 months of various rescheduling issues we finally agreed on a Sunday install. What other contractor you could employ would do that? In hindsight it was a bad idea as it through off our entire week since the job was not completed until 6 pm! But that is seperate issue. |. | |One dissappointing coveate, the crew did not bring enough coverings or tarps for the flooring and not ANY for the furniture. Although they cleaned up quite nicely, the carpeting in all three upstairsroom were quite soiled with old window caulking, wood debris and dust at points. It's a good thing i had plenty of my own to supply!. | |.

I'd been given several quotes from big box stores, handyman and manufacturer, and the price for the quality I wanted was out of my budget. I found Zen Windows on Angie's List. Mak was quick to respond and provided me options. I got the quality I wanted for a very fair price PLUS it was so easy! I didn't have to wait days/weeks for someone to come out to measure and "sell" me a door. The communication with Mak and the installer, John, was easy. The installer arrived on time and went out of his way to resolve some obstacles my house presented. Quality was important for me as this oversize door is opened/closed many times throughout the day (let the dogs out, let the dogs in: repeat). The screen is perfect for pets and is so minimalist I find myself checking to be sure it's closed. It was surprising to me that I wasn't asked for a deposit and refreshing to do business in this way. Many thanks to Mak and John.

 + -1 moreIt was an excellent experience. The owner, Mak Sato, couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Also, he was extremely helpful in my dealing with my homeowner's association to get their approval. Further, when I had some additional concerns, Mak immediately came to my house to talk them over with me. He didn't just want to sell me windows. He wanted to be sure that I was happy with the decision, and that I completely understood what I was buying and how the windows would enhance my home. Mak's business ethics and concern for the customer are outstanding. Also, unlike many other companies, Mak doesn't ask for a deposit. Further, his prices are extremely competitive, and he often offers great discounts through Angie's List. Dave and D., the installers, were also terrific. They came on time, and explained every thing they were doing. They were extremely professional, as well as highly competent. And they left the areas around the new windows far cleaner than they were before the windows were installed. This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had with a service provider. I will certainly use Zen Windows for any windows I get in the future (and I will be needing to replace others down the road). I also need a new screen door for my patio door, and I will be working with Mak on that project in the near future.

 + -1 more.MAK was very easy to deal with. he came to my house and explained in great detail the type of windows i was purchasing. He also took plenty of time explaining the quality and benefits of the product, i was given an estimate on the spot, Mak's installer Dave kept in contact with me before the installation. The day of the installation they were on time, they explained everything they were doing before installing each window, they were very professional and extremely courteous, the job finished on time and without any problems, all of the old windows were removed and they made sure that everything was vacuumed and cleaned before leaving, i recommend Zen windows highly and would definitely use them again. also the windows look great and has cut down the heat in the house. job well done

 + -1 moreAfter researching window replacement companies and visiting Lowes to obtain some information, I contacted Mak at Zen Windows, after reading favorable reviews. He returned my call promptly and shared his website and information about the window types available as well as approximate cost. There was no pressure to buy, he was very personable and helpful, and he sent me an email with brochure information. We ended the call with the agreement that I would be in touch with him if I wanted someone to come to the house to measure the windows for replacement. He encouraged me to compare vendors. The next day I received the full color brochure in the mail. The next week I contacted him to purchase windows and he arranged for Dave to measure on the weekend. No money was due until the job was completed. It took about 2 weeks for the windows to come in, i was called on Sunday and the windows were installed on Tuesday. Installers were professional, knowledgeable, cleaned up and disposed of the old windows. I spoke to Mak a few times during this project and he was always friendly and professional. Based on this experience, I have decided to obtain a quote on a sliding glass door that needs replacement. Friendly, professional, no hassle, no pressure, prompt and efficient installation and decent pricing. Can't get better than that!

The mind-blowing aspect of the whole deal is that we ordered and installed 12 quality windows without providing any upfront security deposit. This business practice speaks for itself. Zen Windows of Philadelphia is special. From start to finish, the owner Mak Sato and his installation crew were professional and respectful. Each morning, the installers arrived on time, explained every step of the process, and promptly notified us whenever complications arose. In our case, the replacement windows were thinner than the original windows, and our nameless builder neglected to install house wrap, which explained the profound drafts that use to manifest in our home. Zen’s craftsmen installed Tyvek home wrap to stop the drafts, installed J channels on all windows to divert water, and created interior windowsills for all twelve windows without giving us a fiscal nightmare. In the end, total increase in costs was less than 15 percent. As a consumer, it was refreshing to deal with them, and we look forward to purchasing from them in the future. As a consumer dealing with Zen windows, you can expect a reasonable price quote within moments of describing your job via email.  + -1 moreWhen the windows were available, the installer contacted us to set up a date and time for the installation. Before the agreed upon date, we received a call that we would have to reschedule, as there was an issue with the casement windows. The casement windows were damaged in shippment and they had to reorder them. They arrived within a week and we rescheduled the appointment. I was told the installers would be out at 10am. They arrived at exactly 10am! They were friendly and helpful in explaining the whole process. They worked quickly and when it was installed it looked like it had looked before, only now the window was cleaner and easier to open. The custom elipse was dead on. The window now looks FANTASTIC!!! We have a house that is almost 15 years old. The original builder put in old designed wood windows that don't open easily and can blow out a candle with the draft they produce in the winter. When we rebuild some funds (granite counter tops aren't cheap) we will look to replace the other 25 windows. When we do that we will be calling Mak at Zen Windows Philadelphia, as I couldn't ask for a better experience, for a better price. If you are looking to replace your windows, I HIGHLY recommend Mak and Zen Windows Philadelphia!
Description of Work: My wife finally got the granite counter top that she had always wanted. We were waiting on the backsplash to be installed when we noticed that the old kitchen window was fogging up and falling apart. It could no longer be opened. We wanted to replace the window before the tile was installed, so that the tile could fit perfectly with the new window. We had a few window providers come out and give us estimates. This kitchen window had an odd shaped elipse eyebrow (so we learned, as it just looked like a circle to us) over the top of it. One major window provider came out and told us that it couldn't be done, as they don't make them like that any longer. They offered us one of their standard eyebrows, which would have made the window look different. Another company would have ordered a semi-circle, which would have been a disaster had they come out and attempted to install it. Then Mak came out from Zen Windows Philadelphia and told us that he could have the eyebrow custom made. We could have gone with a different eyebrow option and saved a lot of money, but we wanted the new window to look the same as the old one did, so we chose to spend the extra money to get it right. I'm sure that this custom window nearly killed Mak trying to get the way we wanted it, but he went out of his way to make the customer happy. How often do you hear that in todays world? The bottom windows were standard casements, and were well built reasonably priced windows compared to the other providers. Even with the custom window, Zen Windows Philadelphia had delivered the window in a quicker time than that major widow company had estimated. Mak was accessible whenever I had a question, and after the installation, he made sure that my wife and I were happy and satisfied with the product and service. AND, we didn't have to pay a dime until the work was done and we were satisfied with it! It was a pleasure to work with Mak at Zen Windows Philadelphia. All companies should be so easy to work with. They should all follow this model!

When I bought a window through Zen Windows, I had a few questions. The owner, Mak, was prompt and courteous with his responses. When the work crew came out to replace the window, they proved themselves to be knowledgeable, affable and efficient. They did a great job of cleaning up, too. I would strongly recommend Zen Windows!

 + -1 moreMak and his team were great! We purchased a deal on Angie's List for seven replacement windows. The deal was really good. The day I purchased the windows Mak called me to discuss the windows we purchased. Dan, who I would consider the lead installer called later that night and he and his wife came down the next day to take measurements for all our windows. The windows are custom made for your house. It takes about 2 weeks from the time they order them for the windows to come in. We got the call the day after the windows arrived to set up a time to have them installed. We were able to set up a convenient time for us to have them installed. Dan and 2 other gentleman showed up to start promptly the morning we scheduled. Mak stopped in to check in as well. The team was quiet and hardworking. The windows were as nice as we hoped, installation went well and the windows look great. We couldn't be happier. Dan and his team also cleaned up very well after they were done, you wouldn't have even known they were in the house. They brought a shop vacuum and then used my vacuum to clean up our rugs (so that they wouldn't get shop vac dirt on our rugs, Dan asked for our vacuum I didn't have to ask him to use it). Mak and his team are consummate professionals and I would highly recommend Zen Windows to anyone and if we ever needed new windows again I would call Mak and his team in a heartbeat. Thanks for doing such a great job for us!!

 + 0 moreI was very impressed with Mac's promptness, knowledge, demeanor, courtesy and helpfulness. Zen Windows' philosophy is NOT to push a heavy sales pitch, but simply to offer excellent products at very reasonable prices. How refreshing! I would strongly recommend Zen to anybody looking into replacement windows or sliding glass doors. Unfortunately, Zen doesn't carry the very old-fashioned product I want. (I need over sized, 100% non-tinted glass, to blend with six remaining windows and doors that surround the broken one.) Mac produced a prompt and reasonable written estimate but fully understood my decision to seek another vendor. He freely gave his time and help making excellent referrals and suggestions. Mac identified questions to ask any vendor and problems I should point out (e.g., rotting door frame, invisible under bottom edge of existing glass door). In the end, I was more disappointed than Mac that his company doesn't carry non-tinted glass!
Description of Work: Mac came to give me an estimate for replacing an over sized, sliding glass door, damaged by tree uprooted in ice/snow storm. We discussed various possibilities. Mac patiently answered all my many questions and gave me excellent ideas for how to proceed.

One of many factors I find intriguing about working with Zen Windows, Philadelphia is that they require NO MONEY DOWN... In fact, Mac (as he told me to call him) is willing to stand by his products, installation and exceed our expectations/satisfaction by waiting until the project is completed before payment is received by Zen Windows, Phila. I will tell you that I have had recent work done on the interior of my home over the last 2 years and could not wait until the work was completed until paying for the product (NOTE: the interior work was completed by good people that I knew). I am a tough grader and will update my ratings of the company when the work is completed.
Description of Work: Provider gave me a free estimate on 3 windows and 1 custom sliding door for my condominium. The estimate was fast and comparable to other "big name" providers. I informed Mr. Sato that I was pricing windows/doors at this time and would not be doing any work until the spring. Mr. Sato was understanding and willing to work with me. Zen Windows, Philadelphia only required that I provide some basic measurements for the windows & patio slider door to "get the ball rolling." I did not have to deal with someone coming to my home and pushing me into a sale.

 + -1 moreGetting the initial quote couldn't have been easier, everything was online. I needed to take a rough measurement of the windows to be replaced and a quote was available very quickly. Once I reviewed the quote and accepted the bid, an installer was sent within two days to take accurate measurements for ordering purposes. Neither Mak nor his installer tried to pressure me to replace additional windows other than the two that were in need of replacement. I was contacted by Mak once the windows had been ordered and shipped so that I would remain in the loop. Once the windows were available, Mak contacted me to schedule the installation at my convenience. My new windows are a quality product and look great. I can actually feel a difference in the amount of cold air being transmitted through the panes. I still have some old windows in the house that are extremely drafty and cold. The area around the new windows is much warmer and more comfortable. The installer that did the work was polite and knowledgable. He placed a tarp over the entire area to protect my floors and furniture. I felt my home was respected. For $1300 I received quality windows without being pressured and I would definitely use Zen Windows again and recommend this company to my friends and family.
Description of Work: Replaced two windows. Initially I contacted this vendor for a quote for lowest price windows. The windows in the home were the original wood windows from the 1950s when the home was built. Mak clarified the pros and cons of several different replacement window options and gave me a quote for each. Upon review of the brochure provided to me, I decided to go with the triple pane, double-hung type.

He even mentioned an upcoming Groupon deal that might save us more money. Mak was responsive and very knowledgeable, we felt very comfortable during the entire process.
