I have taken my rugs to Zakian several times over the years and I have always been pleased with the results. Most recently, I took two rugs for cleaning and there was a note on one of them that some stains could not be removed, but both rugs looked great.

Zakian is all their promotional literature describes them to be. They are expert in their work, prompt, responsive, and highly organized. I had 5 antique hand-knotted oriental carpets cleaned, repaired, and restored and could not be more pleased with the work. Some rugs were most recently cleaned 40 years ago, the others considerably longer, yet the colors on all of them came back bright and vibrant. Several needed repair and came back looking new, and one, with a deep 8-inch section missing and which required restoration, returned with such expert reweaving, that I cannot now tell, even with close examination, where the damage was. Zakian is not inexpensive, but in my opinion their prices are commensurate with the quality of the work they do and the value of the rugs they work on. I am totally please with all respects of their service and highly recommend them.

I made an appointment for the company to come out and clean wall to wall wool berber carpet. They arrived on-time and were extremely polite. They calculated the area to be cleaned - based upon square footage - and told me the cost (which was less than what I was quoted on the phone). The gentlemen were very neat and exacting. They initially vacuumed and and removed "excess" link and hair from the rug - very interesting and effective process. Then they clean the carpet - I never thought the carpets would be as clean as they got them! I was amazed at their ability to clean and their professionalism and pride in their work. I would definitely use them again and HIGHLY recommend them to everyone. These guys are the real thing!

Zakians picked up our 30-yr-old 9x12 Pakistan oriental - it was soiled, but not overwhelmingly so. They returned the rug a week later smelling so strongly of vomit that we could not be in the same room with it. Picked up the rug again for reservice, returned the rug a week later, still smelling (although less so), wet, with a plasticky feel to the finish and lumpy. We had to dry the rug, use an ozone generator for 3 days to kill the odor, and handbrush the carpet to restore its softness. The rug will now be going back for re-service today. Three times for service is unacceptable.

The rug was thoroughly examined at the time I put it into storage by the Zakian staff. No problems were noted at the time of storage. The rug did not need cleaning as I had it cleaned by Zakian one year prior. I had the rug wrapped up and stored at home until I put the rug into storage but Zakian said they would not store the rug unless it was cleaned first so I said ok. I had the rug in storage at Zakian's from Feb 2006 until Oct. 2013. When I went to pick up the rug there was a small spot of dirt on the corner. I left the rug at Zakians for a week for them to remove the spot. When I came back a week later the brown spot had been removed. However there was a red stain on the rug that was not there the week prior. I again left the rug for another 2 weeks to have this stain removed. When I went back to get the rug the stain was still there. Now the tap dancing really began. Zakian said the stain was there when the rug was put in storage. I reminded them the spot was not there when I initially came for rug pick up. I showed them my initial receipt for the rug storage that did not show any problems with the rug. They refused to do anything to fix the spot other than a "reweave" of the spot with no guarantee that the fiber would match. I vetoed this because a reweave would ruin the rug. I am not happy with the result as now I have an expensive rug with a big red stain on the border pattern. Mr Zakian refused to meet with me, he only talk on the phone - he expressed no concern for this problem that his company created. I stored the rug to prevent moths from getting into the rug and I got back a rug with a big ugly stain on it.

Rug was picked up and carried out on the date and time of apt. Job was done professionally with great results. Rug looked great. Was brought back in a timely manner and carried into the house. Price is OK but a little high on larger rugs.

The person whom we dealt with was Pixie who was knowledgeable and responsive to several requests and generous in her time and expertise. She was able to arrange a visit to see the carpet after the cleaning and at least two visits during the repair process. She made notes of our concerns and our wishes as to how the repairs were to be accomplished. The gentlemen who delivered the carpet when it was finished were respectful of us and of our home, and took pains to place the carpet exactly where we wanted. They worked diligently to please us. Although the carpet was finished, we had to wait for the room to be prepared for the laying of the carpet. Zakian was cooperative and understanding of our need to delay delivery for several weeks.

They were great. They paid alot of attention to detail. They were honest about one rug being too far damaged to repair. I am very happy with the results.

Zakian was excellent to deal with. Our situation was complicated in that we were moving from a high rise in Center City to a condo in the suburbs. Zakian arranged for two different pick-up times, as one rug was in a bedroom and moving the bed would've been very difficult. They took two of the rugs, cleaned and repaired and re-fringed them, delivered them to the suburbs, and then picked up the bedroom rug after we moved out of the apartment. It was then cleaned, repaired, re-fringed and delivered after the move. The crew was prompt (important in the city, as we had to reserve an elevator) and willing to take time to arrange the rugs as I wanted them. The cleaning and repairs and re-fringing were done very nicely-- the rugs look great. We also purchased a carpet pad for one of the rugs at a very reasonable price. Will use again for sure!

Zakian offers pick-up & delivery, but will deduct 20% if you drop the rug off at their facility in West Phila. I opted to take the rugs to them. But then I found a coupon on-line for the same 20% savings. I took the rug in and asked them to deliver, with the 20% savings. It surprised me that they needed to puzzle over honoring the coupon after I had done some of their work for them. Their "free pick up & delivery" is only on the days they designate for certain areas, so you have to meet their schedule. For some customers, this may not matter; for others, it might be significant. They also could use some improvement in their "front office" persona: the person who answered the phone was quite brusque, and seemed in a hurry and completely uninterested in gaining my business. On the other hand, I am glad to have seen the plant, and feel comfortable that the work crew are competent and capable. The delivery guy was also very genial and quite helpful in resolving some minor confusion in the delivery timing.

This was an Angie's list deal; Zakian picked up the rugs on schedule, charged me the voucher amount for cleaning and added on the repair cost, which was not covered. They called after collecting the rugs to ask about making the repair, and to inform me that the stains on the dhurri would probably not come out. They delivered the rugs as requested in good condition having done what they said they would.

First let me say that this is the second time I've used Zakian's for oriental carpet cleaning; the first transaction was flawless. This time, however, I find myself wondering just what's going on. Let me clarify: I called to have about 13 rugs cleaned and appraised (both oriental and hooked), and let them know I'd be taking advantage of a postcard offer of 20% off all cleaning over $50. So far so good: a pickup was scheduled, the guys appeared, and the rugs were taken, though no estimate was given since we had never worked out the total square footage. About a week later someone called to let me know that there were some orientals which could use repair, and would I like it done. One rug in particular -- a worn 15' runner -- needed work, and I was assured that the piece was valuable, so repair made sense. Fine -- I like to take care of my stuff, so I agreed to have the repair done. Another week passed and they called for delivery. I asked if the appraisal had been done, and I was told that no, it had not been, that there was a charge for this, and that this would delay delivery by another week. Well, okay, I wanted an appraisal for insurance purposes, so I'd wait another week to get it. The following week the rugs were delivered and everything looked great. The only problem was that the runner -- whose cleaning and repairs cost about $700 -- was appraised at only $500. So I ended up paying more for repairs than the piece was actually worth. (Let me say that -- true to their word -- I did receive the 20% cleaning discount for all of the pieces.) What's the lesson here? I don't actually know. How does this reflect on Zakian's? Your call, but in the future I'll be careful to get some idea of a piece's real value before agreeing to hand repair.

it was good value for the price. They did a great job and made it easy with scheduled pick-up and delivery. They were prompt.

I got an estimate of the costs from the information on the Zakian website. When I called to order, my estimates were confirmed. I selected a date for pick-up and was told to call that morning after 8:30am to get a more specific time when the pick-up would occur. The Zakian employees arrived exactly on time. They called me a week later to tell me the exact cost, the payment procedures and the delivery date. The delivery was also right on schedule. The delivery person was helpful and knowledgeable. It was a painless and worry-free process from beginning to end, and, as noted previously, I am very happy with the results.

The servce was provded promptly, staff were polite and the rugs came back very clean - no mor esmoke ordor. Good job.

They did an excellent job. I bought the Angies list Deal. They took a lot of care in treating the stains. It also turned out that I actually had an infestation of moss that they took care of. They were prompt while picking it up and delivering it. They rolled it out for me very carefully when they brought it back. I was satisfied with their price.

Great!! They were prompt in picking up the carpet and delivering the completed work. I was contacted the day after pick up and was told that the carpet was old and valuable. They gave me suggestions for a complete restoration of the carpet, but I declined to have that work done.

The pricing quote and arrangement of pickup date were done over the phone and went well. When the company picked up my rug, they left the packing slip for another customer's rug. I called the office immediately to notify them and they said it would not be an issue and everything would proceed as planned. A week later when the rug was set to be returned, the delivery driver arrived with the rug belonging to the incorrect packing slip and insisted that it was my rug. After telling him several times that I knew what my own rug looked like, he called in to the office and they acknowledged the mix up. Instead of sending out my rug later that day, they told me I had to wait another week until they were back in my area. The upside to the whole thing was that the other rug owner had also requested additional services beyond the normal cleaning, so I received those services at no extra charge. The downside was that I was without a rug in my child's room for 2 weeks instead of 1. All in all, the work was good but the process was a little painful...

Overall, service was excellent. Cost and service was clearly communicated. Pickup and drop off times were met. Rug was obviously cleaned, as was fringe. Overall, the experience was positive. I will definately use Zakian in the future.

I contacted the company by phone to get an estimate. My carpet had pet stains and associated odor. Was told pickup in my area was Tuesday only and carpet would be returned one week later. (A little less expensive to drop off carpet to them.) I arranged for the carpet to be picked up at one location and returned to another. Representative on phone was helpful, polite and efficient. I was able to get a time window the morning of pickup and delivery. Carpet was picked up and returned right on schedule with no glitches despite 2 different locations. Handlers were very polite and efficient. Rug looked great. Price was actually below quote! Excellent service; would definitely use them again and highly recommend.

Requested info by email on whether we were in their delivery area. Immediate response, within an hour. Ordered the Big Deal on one rug, used regular pricing for the other three - which was very reasonable. They provided complimentary pick-up and delivery. Everyone was very professional, and communication was excellent throughout the process. They were late for the pick-up window, but called to let me know, which I appreciate. This was my first experience using Angie's list, and it worked exactly as I wanted. Saved me a lot of time and was able to find the right service provider within minutes.

This was a super easy task. I called the company, they set up a date for pick up. One week later they returned the carpets beautifully cleaned for the agreed upon price. I wish dealing with all vendors was this easy! I only wish their furniture cleaning division would come to Delaware as well, as I would love to use them again!
