They did a highly competent job, and I didn't overpay.

The were prompt and did a good job.

Embarassingly, the problem was very simple -- a box containing a sensor was very slightly out of alignment and just needed a screw tightened. I was kindly charged only 1/2 the minimum service fee to account for the travel to/from my place. I would definitely use this company again, but next time I'll check the sensor first!

Based on the reviews here I called American Elite. I asked if they would consider coming to my house since it is definitely on the periphery of their mileage radius. They said they would and we discussed the problems with our doors. Dave gave me an estimate and I agreed to have them come out. On the day of our scheduled appt Dave called us when they were close for a heads up, which we appreciated. When they arrived Dave and his coworker got things done quickly and professionally. They figured out the problem with our current opener and were able to fix it securely. Good value and great work ethic!

After Sears had come out and basically said couldn't do the job because of some mistakes on initial installation of door, I contacted American Elite. Dave came out and basically informed me that he could do the job and what my options were. I had the job done the following Monday. I had to call him back to make an adjustment and he responded quickly and politely and made the adjustment. It was a pleasure dealing with this type of service.

We're planning to move out of this house in a couple years. It's a starter home and wouldn't see much of a ROI on this repair. But the current door was original and looked bad, so this had to be done. The garage faces a street with a good bit of foot traffic, so we were concerned about denting to an aluminum door. Although we live in Ardmore, we were somewhat limited on vendors listed in Angie's List because of travel distance. American Elite took us through our options and addressed the concern about denting. We looked at all the quotes and American Elite gave us the best quote. Plus, their responsiveness throughout the estimate process made us confident everything would go smoothly. Dave gave us a ring when the door was in and scheduled the installation for the next week. They had an unexpected service call the morning of our installation and Dave called us first to make sure that wouldn't be a problem. (Professionalism hasn't died!) They started a little before noon and were finished by 3 p.m. And Dave walked my wife through the keypad/security program before leaving. If you're looking to replace your garage door with a pretty straight-forward aluminum door, American Elite should be on your list. Affordable. Professional. Responsive.

If you have an emergency, call this company. I called the company that originally installed the electric garage door opener; my call was not returned. David was prompt, pleasant and helpful in explaining the care of the equipment. When asked about another possible repair, he explained the reason I would not need it. I feel that I can trust him and his workmanship.

My garage door was probably 40 years old and original to the house, wooden with peeling paint. It badly needed to be replaced! I called American Elite (because I saw them here on Angie's list) and requested an estimate. David made an appointment for the next weekend and was very flexible when it came to time. For the estimate, he was on time and brought several samples. He took a look and told me the options I had open to me. I decided on my door and made an appointment for installation. The time when the door would be ready conflicted with my schedule so David was very flexible about scheduling for the next week. The installer, Robert, arrived right on time and was very polite and friendly. I left for work and when I got home, the work was done and everything was cleaned up.

Called and David came out the same day. Showed up during time period promised, worked quickly and cleanly. Cost was slightly more than estimate given over the phone because the pulleys and safety cables also needed to be replaced. Also gave us a reasonable estimate for installing a garage door opener. We scheduled that for a couple of weeks from now.

I called, they came, and they fixed the problem. All went well.

Quality of new door seems to be great. Area was partially cleaned, but a lot of metal was left on the ground- thorough sweeping was required before I would dare pull my car in. Door was hung several inches lower than the original door, so that I was forced to remove the antennae of of my car- make sure you're OK with doing this, as the contractor was puzzled as to why I found that aggravating. Both the contractor and the owner suggested that I buy a stub antenna: I feel I shouldn't have to modify my car after spending nearly a thousand dollars on a nice new door. So- nice product, but be ready to be flexible on the details.

The owner of the company went out of his way to make sure that everything went smoothly. He arrived on time for the estimate and it was fair. He arrived promptly on the day of installation. At all times he was polite and accommodating. He did a perfect job of putting the door in. He also was clean and neat as he worked and he took away all the parts of the old door and swept down the area. He also found a remote compatible with my existing old motor. I wish every home improvement experience went like this one.

I called American Elite Garage Doors, Inc. on a Sunday. I received a return call on the next day. Two days later Dave came out (on time) and provided a detailed estimate for my new garage door. He thoroughly inspected my old door, its frame, etc. and took measurements. Also, he explained that with old homes, often times specialized carpentry work is necessary. Aften reviewing all options for doors, including colors and designs, I placed a 50% down for the work. Two weeks later Dave called and scheduled an appointment for the following day. Dave along with Roberto showed up on time and began work. I had to move one of my vehicles out of the space. When it did not start, they pushed it out the garage, "jumped it" and continued their work on my door. They worked all day installing the door and cleaned up at the end. The finished product is a dream! This company is professional and the work they complete is top notch. Also, their employees are friendly, witty and full of personality!

It was excellent. I called and they came out quickly. They told me what I needed to know as far as the pricing. They did the work promptly and it has been working fine ever since.

They arrived on time. They assessed the job and explained what needed to be done. They were very polite and they worked quickly and professionally. They were honest in their dealings.

They did not return my initial phone call. But they had good ratings on Angie's list so I thought I would give them one more call. They didn't return my second call either.

IT WENT GREAT! THEY SHOWED UP AS SCHEDULED, DID ALL WORK AS AGREED, REMOVED ALL OF THE OLD EQUIPMENT AND BRIEFED ME ON THE OPERATION OF THE NEW UNIT.

It went well. They came over to measure the garage and give an estimate and we selected the door we wanted. The door was ready 3 weeks later they were here for a few hours putting it in. It is great and works perfectly. We had them come back 6 months later to install a keypad which cost $96.50. That was done within an hour.

Called on Friday and scheduled for Tuesday. Company called on Tuesday to confirm, showed up on or close to time and did the work on the spot (a fairly simple repair). I am quite satisfied.

I had started by calling other companies on Angie's List but none of them would come to Center City. My initial call to American Elite was answered immediately (as opposed to going to voice mail.) An appointment was scheduled for two days later. The repair person came a little earlier than was originally estimated, but called first. He easily diagnosed the cause of the problem and completed the repair quickly. He was friendly and helpful and willingly gave advice about other questions we had. My only complaint is that he put a large sticker advertising the company on the inside of our garage door without asking our permission first.

They came to the house and looked at it before they gave me an estimate. A lot of other companies only wanted to give me an estimate over the phone. After one of my neighbors saw the work they wanted to have American install a new door for them, too! He is very confidant and does a good job. I would use him again and recommend him to others.

No one showed up at the scheduled time. I called their number numerous times and it continually rolled to voicemail. No response to my messages asking where they were.

Several of the names on Angie's List did not do work in Center City Phila, but Dave at American Elite was very willing and responsive. He gets very high marks for returning calls promptly, and came to do the work the next day. He was organized and very professional;told me a lot about the doors, and suggested other work we could do later. We have done several million dollars worth of construction and restoration, and know the value of a good contractor, though his job with us was small, I got really good vibes and will recommend him to our neighbors.

I had called around to multiple companies for estimates, which ranged from $360 to $700 (more on that below). Nathan and Dave at American Elite answered all my questions and I ended up opting for the slightly more expensive belt-driven model. Dave did a great job with the installation (which was very tight height-wise!), which looks neat and secure; helped move a couple of pieces of furniture out of the garage; cleaned up and showed me all the controls afterwards. The opener works great and I'm very happy!! FYI, re estimates for this job, they ranged (for same Liftmaster chain-driven opener) from $360 (Diggs Overhead, but they wouldn't give me a written estimate although I asked twice) to $400 (American Elite) to $450 (Aaron Overhead) to $700 (John Paladino). All for the same model opener -- interesting, hmmm?
