Beginning 2 weeks ago, our relatively new garage door, installed by American Elite, would not close. I left four separate phone messages on their voicemail and wrote an e-mail asking for them to schedule a visit to fix the problem. I am surprised at their lack of response because they were very professional during the initial installation. Perhaps they are out of business now and have not changed their voicemail?

That's what will happen in a matter of months with Elite. Shotty work and poor service are a deadly combination. Seems to be a pattern with these guys... Low price pulls you in. Repair is needed shortly after. And the unit starts to break down within a few years. Radio silence when the calls start coming. It happened to me. It happened to others. Guess what happens if you hire Elite? This is why you use Angie's List. Protect your wallet and keep looking... elsewhere.

I didn't have any complaints about the initial installation. However, about 6 months later the door started making a loud noise when opening and shutting. I contacted the company and they came and adjusted it. This fall, however, the door stopped functioning all together. I called to inquire about a repair and to see if it was still under warranty. It seems to me that a $1400 door should work for more than 3 years. I have called the company at least 10 times in the past two months and have never received a phone call in return. Sometimes the mailbox is full. I would definitely not recommend this company.

I called and left a message for more information on a garage door installation. Never received a call back.

Overall, I would rate them highly. I would use them again in the future.

David called to confirm our appointment and showed up promptly. He listened carefully to what I wanted to accomplish and then recommended a C.H.I. Overhead Door product that addressed my needs. He measured the openings and took the time to go over the door options with me. He left me a set of color samples so that I could review them with my wife. He was able to write up an estimate on the spot and didn't pressure me to sign. David thought creatively about some of the challenges this job presented and offered solutions to keep the project cost in check. Overall, I was impressed by American Elite and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Called them based on the high rating. Quick call back and said he would be out between 5 and 7. Never showed up or called. I was home the whole time and the dog would have heard him knock. I know things happen but a call to let me know he couldn't make it would have been the professional thing to do.

Whole process was great from estimate to install...no complaints and overall a great experience.

The AE crew spent about 30 minutes fixing the problem, and were incredibly professional and polite, and left the garage spotless. They could have easily convinced me to replace the whole door, but instead just fixed the problem, which I greatly appreciate. I will definitely use them again if the need arises!

We had issues with our garage door. I researched the company, sent an e-mail asking whether they service my part of Delaware County. I waited a day or so and when I heard nothing, phoned. Still nothing. I am very disappointed in their lack of courtesy. I wish other users better luck.

We wanted a black garage door but no manufacturers made a black door. The company representative was very helpful in explaining how he could paint the door and also giving us some addresses where we could look at his previous work. The time from our initial order to when the door was installed was a little longer than originally estimated but the workers came on time on the scheduled day. The new door looks great and works as it should. My only complaints are that the workers did not sweep up the mess that was made from the installation and they did not ask us where we wanted the house numbers placed before they put them on the door.

I contacted American Elite when my garage door stopped working automatically. I contacted them because of a favorable rating on Angie's List. I was able to make an appointment immediately. They showed up exactly on time, did the work quickly, and charged a reasonable price. Can't ask for more.

They did a great job and were very patient. The door seems fine now.

Dave set up a meeting to look at the garage doors and came as promised. He presented a range of options and I selected what I wanted. On the install day he came on time, did a beautiful job, cleaned up well, and couldn't have been more polite or professional. The new doors work great and are so smooth and quiet I can barely tell they are opening. Outstanding.

They were great. They came and gave me an estimate and scheduled the work. They have done 2 jobs for me and never have had any issues.

He was not professional. I felt like he was hustling me into a new garage door when I did not want one. Once he realized I was not interested in a new garage door he started sneaking in other fees to boost up his costs. He charged me an extra $5 for his time and travel. I thought he was very unprofessional. I will never use him again. He fixed one spring of the garage door and left the other since he thought I was going to buy a new garage door. When I told him I did not need a new garage door for now, he charged me a different price for fixing the other door. At first he was nice. When he realized I was not going to get a new door he was aggressive and pushy. The work he did was good.

I gave them a call and they were out 3 hours later. They did a great job.

Our garage door would not open, turned out that it was a broken cable on the garage door. I sent an email with on the problem and my contact information. I did not get a response for several days. I called and spoke to David. He said that he could come the next day. I was anxious to get the garage door fixed. David came on time. He recommended that I replace the door pulleys on both sides, which was a good recommendation. He replaced the garage door cable and the pulleys, which he had on this truck. He was very friendly, polite and professional. I was very satisfied with him timely arrival, quick completion of the job, and friendly attitude.

Great experience. Our garage door wouldn't close and the remotes weren't working . Called and they were out the next morning (on a Saturday). SHowed up on time. Fixed the issue and were are back in business.

This was an all day project. Received a free estimate. We agreed to the work that was going to be done including the type and color of door and what day the work would be completed. It took two weeks to order the door and two people came back on the date previously agreed to install the door and new frame. Everything was done well. David DeRienzo was very easy going and confident about the work. They did a great job on everything. I would definitely use them again and recommend to others.

I was pleased that the team explained what was need, what they were doing, what was optional and what it would cost. I handed them a check feeling I had been treated fairly by competent, skilled tradespeople.

Dave was excellent to work with. He pointed out that one side of my garage door was lower because of the concrete and how he would work with that by putting more rubber at the bottom on that side. But what I most appreciate is that he always returned my calls in a timely manner which was not the case with all the companies (even Angie's List companies) that I had out. I had 4 companies give me estimates. I chose American Elite over another company whose door seemed a little better but they didn't get back to me. I want a company who is going to call me back if I ever need service. I highly recommend American Elite Garage Doors

Excellent service--very responsive, courteous and professional. Promptly called back and came to give estimate and educated me about options for doors and tax energy credit. I ended up spending more $$ with him than other estimates I received because I was willing to pay more for a better quality door knowing I'd get a tax credit for that door. He came on time and installed door as planned. Cleaned up neatly afterward. Totally satisfied and would highly recommend

Everything went very smoothly. The work was completed the same day I called. He knew what he was doing and did it. I would certainly have him again.
