Michael's Brick Pointing

Michael came over to give me a quote a few days after calling him and made me feel at ease about what had to be done. He explained what his team would do if they were hired and told me to call him once I made a decision. When I had my finances in order and was ready to complete the job Michael gave me a few times to choose from and we ended up finalizing details via text (very important since I can't easily take calls from work). His crew arrived on time and introduced themselves. I was able to work from home and they asked a few questions about how I would like things done and then when they were finished they swept up all of the dust and stucco pieces and gave me a tour of the work completed. They even cleaned up a few leafs that had been knocked off the tree in the front of my house when lifting their ladder onto their truck!! I cannot reccomend them more for any job large or small.

Great, when I think about Michael's Brick Pointing it brings tears to my eyes. (Tears of Joy). The service was great all of his employees were very respectful, took time to explain what they were doing or did. They arrived early and cleaned up when they were done. They work from the time they walked in the yard until it was time to leave. Price were reasonable, really cheap for the work they did and Mr. Mike worked out a payment plan for me Thank God). But, he didn't stop there. I had another leak, about six weeks later, called him his staff knew what the problem was came back and fixed it with no extra charge. This really help me and I didn't even have to call my roofer. They knew their job and what needed to be done I have been fighting with these leaks for years. Contractors like this is just hard to find. Thank you Mr. Mike

Michael took my information to come by and provide a quote and was out the next day. After providing quotes for a few different options, he and his team were out at the house at the first available opportunity (it being January/too cold/rainy for quality work, etc.). Team was professional and did great work and cleanup. We even added recaulking around the front door the night before and the team made sure to match the door caulk to the surrounding frame, but matched the caulk to the porch in those areas. Looks great! Most communication was via text and follow up was always exactly as described.

We kept missing each other calls and never could get in contact with the person . its seen lack of interest

Quick work to get it done before I went on vacation. Work done looks great. Ran into a couple of issues with sloppy clean up but owner was quick to rectify the issues once brought to his attention. I would use them again.

Michael was excellent! He was friendly, knowledgable and efficient. We were selling our house and needed the work completed quickly and he delivered! He even took the time to speak with the Seller and Sellers Agent in the transaction to outline to them the work that was completed. I would recommend him to a friend or family member any day.

It went well. Michael came out and gave me an estimate on the spot. He was courteous and professional. I did not end up hiring Michael because his price was significantly higher than the other contractor I spoke to for the same scope of work

I highly recommend Mike and his crew. He came out the next day for an estimate, and a second time to discuss details with my roofer, whose work he would be tying into where the roof met the chimney. His estimate was comparable with another that I received. His crew came out the following week, set up four-story scaffold, and completed the job in a day. Everyone was professional, they cleaned up afterward, and clearly take pride in a job well done.

It was a pleasure dealing with Mike and his crew. Originally I had called him just for the buckled stucco, and caulking windows. This was last December and the weather precluded work until spring. He worked with me on the timing as I had to remove steps on the deck to access the stucco. He came exactly as scheduled. Because we expanded the scope of the job, he kept his men on for 2 additional days (including a Sunday!) until everything was done to my satisfaction. A few days later, I saw an area of stucco that had not been repaired, called Mike and he told me it would be handled expeditiously. I have complete confidence that it will. I am extremely pleased with the work, including the professionalism of his crew. HIs price was fair and he was a pleasure to deal with. I would (and have) recommended him to neighbors.

Nice job! These guys were technical experts as well as true craftsmen. An oops on my part (locked out of the house) meant it took a little while to get back on track. But they worked through it (in the rain) and completed the job without skipping a beat. I love the way it looks.

Michael's crew were at our home on time and worked efficiently and cleanly (or as clean as can be expected for indoor masonry work). Fireplace grout was chiseled by hand and completely repointed. Looks great, and wouldn't hesitate to hire Michael again.

Last summer I was given a quote. It was a little high, but not crazy. Getting him to come out in the first place was slightly challenging, but it worked out. I decided to wait until next summer so I could do all the work at once, but the issue got out of hand this winter. The last message he left on 2/3/16 was that he was out of town (again) and would get back to me when he returned. I never received any response after that and went with a different masonry company.

Mike went above and beyond, fixing several other areas that neede attention in order to prepare our house for painting. His workers were ontime, courteous and respectful. Highly recommended.

I requested an estimate in 9/2015. In 10/2015 I hired this company to repoint the 2nd floor of the facade of my house. They came out in 11/2015 with less than a day's warning, so I wasn't able to be there when they arrived. When I arrived home before 12, they were already gone! Rather than repoint the brick, which entails grinding out the joint to a depth of twice the width of the joint, then refilling the joints, they skimmed over the mortar that was there, spending only 2-3 hours at the house max. The mortar was essentially painted on in some areas. I could also remove mortar with my fingernails 2 days later. If repointing isn't done correctly, water can get in and damage the house. - I contacted the owner through Angie's list and he first denied there was any problem with the work, then said he checked the work and it looked great. I sent him pictures showing how thin the mortar coat was. He made several different excuses. I initially tried to set a time to go over the work, but he would not agree to the times I had available. He'd send me a message the night before he wanted to come out at 8 am. I work, so I couldn't meet with him. He didn't respond when I suggested other times. I told him several times that I wanted to be present if/when they did the work. I eventually asked him to let me know whether (1) he planned to redo the job, or whether (2) I should hire someone else, in which case I would not be paying him. He would not answer the question in writing and wanted to talk on the phone. I was getting the impression that he was pretty slippery, so I asked for communications to be in writing. That was 11/11/2015. - I finally gave up on him, and starting asking for more estimates, but after a while it got too cold to repoint brick. According to This Old House, the temperature needs to remain between 40 and 90 degrees as the mortar cures/dries. I had to wait until spring. - While I was out of town over Christmas, I received a message from him written on 1/6/2016 that he wanted to meet with me the next day. He didn't say why. In the next message written 1/7/2016 he says he is at my house and plans to grind the joints! The temperature range that day had been 28-45 degrees. This Old House says pointing should be done when the temperature is 40 to 90 degrees. I had also asked to be there if they did any more work. - I replied on 1/9/2016 saying that I hoped he had NOT done the work that day, citing the fact I had asked to be present if they did any more work, and that it was too cold to be pointing brick anyway. I asked whether he had done the work but he wouldn't say. - When I got home from my trip, I was relieved - everything looked the same, as if he had not tried to redo the work in freezing temperatures. But...on 2/18/2016 I took a closer look while I was checking my roof. It turns out that he had ground out all of the mortar and left everything exposed to the elements. I can't do anything about it because it will be too cold to point the brick for another couple of months. In the meantime, the house could be severely damaged. - To say that I do not recommend him would clearly be an understatement. Looking deeper into his reviews, he has a history of taking short cuts like not grinding out joints, poor responses to customers, and there was a report of a stucco repair that washed away within year. What a nightmare.

Michael's Brick Pointing tackled a very challenging job outside our Center City, 3 story home. The estimate was competitively priced. Michael listened to our description of our unique water problems, and our particular masonry/stucco deterioration problems, and the very challenging solutions I felt were needed. Instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all solution, he lended his expertise and creativity and together we came up with a workable, intuitive plan to solve a multivariable problem. This involved accessing two different neighbors' yards, erecting scaffolding, working around inclement weather, and coming up with some solutions as new issues were discovered. The crew was considerate, respectful to my wife and daughter when I was away, always willing to educate us about the process, and absolutely skilled and professional. We had a great result with their work so far, and I recommend them without reservation.

Mike showed up himself to inspect the property. Assessed the entire location and asked how I would like to proceed. He gave an estimate based on the work to be done and gave me an approximate date based on the weather. He contacted me the night before to let me know the work would be completed, contacted me halfway through the job to let me know the approximate completion time, and asked for me to assess the job before accepting payment. Very professional job. I have some additional work that I will need done once the winter breaks and I'll definitely be contacting his team.

Mike saved my home from a nightmare , my first contractor made a total mess and Nightmare !!!! I called Mike out to my property , he explained every step and process that needed to be done and corrected the issue !!!! Mike is a stand up Guy and no games !!!!!!! His crew is also great !!!! clean up was perfect !! don't make a mistake, go with this company first you wont be sorry !!

I can't say enough about the incredible job Mike and his team did with my brick pointing and repair work. My home is almost 70 years old and the masonry probably hadn't been looked at in over 30 years. I wasn't home during the first day (2 days total). I went out the next morning to look at their progress and was completely blown away. Everything looks literally brand new -- the pointing is very smooth and even and matches the existing mortar. It looks as though the brick was newly installed. And, the team was very friendly, helpful and neat as a pin. I had been wanting to have this repair work done for years but put it off for fear of not having the job done well. Thank you Michael's Brick Pointing!

I purchased a service contract from the Angies website and Michael promptly came out to review the project. A date was set and the work was completed in a very timely manner for the price paid. they did an excellent job and we are very happy with the result.

Mike was very responsive. Got back to me while he was out of town and got one of his crew to get me a quote, and he came up with a competitive price. He recognized that repairs needed to be done prior to settlement on the house per the buyers' request so he got his crew out there promptly the following Sunday and they started work. Everything went very well, they did the job perfectly and cleaned up nicely.

Michael and his team did a great job. They were polite, courteous and motivated to do a good job.
