Michael's Brick Pointing

This is a long over-due favorable review. Michael came to my home, assessed the damage to my home, gave me the recommendation to have my crumbling stucco replaced with another material, and did not charge me for his time. I followed his advice and my problem was solved for much less money than it would have cost to repair the stucco, which would have to be repaired on a regular basis. I appreciate Michael's honesty and decency and recommend him to others. Larry

Michael's response time was great!! After contacting numerous companies for estimates, Michael's was the ONLY one to reply promptly. This professional courtesy continued throughout the job - all phone calls and emails received a response within 2 days. Workers arrived as scheduled, and were respectful of quiet neighborhood. Work site was cleaned up thoroughly before crew left each day. Would definitely rehire.

I hired Michael's Brick Pointing to point the back and the side of my house, as well as repair my chimney that was also allowing water to leak into the roof. I'm so happy I did! From start to finish, Michael and his team were professional, kind, methodical with their work and went above and beyond when it comes to completing the job. They came on time. Completed the job on time. Cleaned up. they were polite and courtesy.

Mike responded to my inquiry right away and set up a time for his foreman to come out and look over the job. The foreman came and assessed the job. Mike called back within a few days to tell us what needed to be done, why, number of workers needed to rebuild the wall, fix the steps and cost. He was flexible about timing since we were under time pressure to have the work done. 4 workers came early on Saturday and Sunday, took the wall apart and rebuilt it. It's beautiful! The steps were taken care of as well. They were extremely professional and very personable. Mike also advised a plan to regrade the drainage area to prevent the problem from occurring again. We would hire Mike and his crew again in a heartbeat.

Michael was great. He returned my phone call later that night, and came out the next day to take a look at what needed to be done. He was really easy to work with for scheduling, and very reasonable with his prices. Within a week or so he had his crew out to our house, and they went over the whole side with a fine tooth comb. They made sure the brick pointing was good on our chimney, too, and replaced the cap that was missing (that we hadn't even noticed was gone!). Lots of attention to detail, and if you hadn't known there was missing mortar and cracks, you'd never know there was any work done at all - which is how masonry repair is supposed to be. We'll definitely be using Michael again for our house.

Excellent. Mike was responsive, prompt, and understood the scope of the project. I believe that his price was reasonable. I had contacted several masons in addition to Mike. Some never called me back, one told me that he was booked for several months out, and another drove to the property & inspected the issue and then never sent me a quote. I was very pleased with Mike's work and his understanding of my needs. His crew even worked on the weekend to complete the job. The job was significant enough to span several days.

The job was scheduled timely. Michael was 100% committed and in contact through-out all stages of the project. He and his crew were very timely, very neat and very professional. He kept me informed each day and also took the time to spot some other fixes that needed attention. He left the premise in excellent condition.

Michael's Brick Pointing suspected an improper job by the builder. They discovered and fixed a large section of our stucco wall and repointed some loose bricks in another area. It looks great! We haven't gotten any rain yet so that will be the test, but we were satisfied. They had a 4 man team and were professional, they cleaned up their work to our satisfaction.

The job went very well. There were some added unforeseen problems which were taken care of at a reasonable additional price. The contractors were very professional and pleasant to work with , despite the additional work and pressure to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. I haven't had as much confidence in a contractor since our roofing and siding was done. Sadly, that gentleman has retired. We plan on having Mike do the finish coat on the entire house in the spring. It is such a relief to know our house is in such good hands.

Michael called on Friday, July 21, 2017 and stated that the stucco was finished, but wanted $2,000 in addition for waterproof coat application. We thought it was a lot for just coating, but agreed to this. He said he would do the coat application the following Monday. That Saturday, July 22, we got a call from our tenant family, who had just returned from a vacation, saying that something must have gone terribly wrong with the stucco work, because rainwater was coming into the house from around all the back wall windows on all three floors, and the second floor ceiling was wet and cracked from water damage. There was water all over the hardwood floors. To make the long story short, the water leak detection company found that the stucco installation was not done properly to make the walls water-tight; roof-to-stucco transition and stucco-to-window transition are defective. Michael tried to blame this on our roof, which was installed in 2009 and had never caused water damage before and also on the windows on all 3 floors on the back side of our house. These windows were installed at separate times by different vendors (upper floors in 2009 and lower floor in 2013) and had never leaked prior to the stucco work. We had to hire a new contractor, McNamara Masonry, to remove Michael’s stucco entirely and re-do it in the second week of August, 2017. The stucco back wall is finally water-tight with no problems. Michael’s Brick Pointing has yet to refund the money ($14,000 out of $22,000 total for the entire project due at the completion) that we paid him to install the stucco. He also lied about the waterproof coating, because he claimed that he did the coating on Monday, July 24, 2017 and wanted more money. The tenant family reported that no coating was done on 7/24, and the scaffolding had already been taken down, when they got home on Sat, 7/22. I hope this never happens to anybody else’s home in the future.
