They were reasonably professional on the phone. The estimate was fine and they stuck to the price, however I don't pay people to show up stoned.
Description of Work: They were late and the workmen showed up stoned. Of course, there was nothing I could do about it as I had to move. They broke a few items, luckily nothing important.

Response from Mambo Movers
We carefully reviewed our records but could not find any trace of the occurrence. The review was placed almost 2 years from the date of the move which makes it difficult to investigate this claim. Mambo Movers

Everything was excellent. Communication prior to the move was fantastic (they were very responsive on both phone an e-mail). They arrived on time, were extremely friendly and careful, worked quickly, and charged a very fair price.
Description of Work: Moved the furniture from our 4-person office from Camden, NJ to a new location in Center City Philadelphia. (5 desks/chairs, bookshelves, plants, and a foosball table.) Both were elevator buildings.

I was extremely pleased with the level of service that Mambo Movers provided. From my first interaction by phone to request a quote, Mambo provided all the details I needed to make an informed decision about booking them. The staff reviewed the items I'd need moved and provided an accurate quote (what I paid at ended up being within $100 of what was projected). After I booked Mambo, they called the day before my move, as well as the day of, to confirm their arrival time. The movers showed up about a half hour later than expected, which is why I provided a "B" rating for punctuality. The moving team did provide an explanation, and overall, I had no qualms about their arrival time since I had spoken to them earlier in the morning and knew they were on their way. The move went flawlessly from there. I did have some concerns that the truck wasn't large enough, but the movers did some fancy footwork to make it all fit--just barely! Even with that tight fit, every item was handled with care. I'm very happy to report that there was no damage or issue with the move. The movers were extremely professional and polished. I was impressed by their customer service and would recommend Mambo Movers to others.
Description of Work: Mambo Movers did an excellent job moving me from the Philadelphia suburbs to Central New Jersey. The move was from a 2 bedroom, second floor apartment to a 1 bedroom, first floor condominium. Three members of Mambo's team completed the move in 4 hours (with travel time, the overall move took 7.5 hours).

Given that's moving day is normally full of suprises and stress.. I cannot say how wonderful my experience was with Mambo movers. They called the day before to confirm the time. They arrived on time the day of my move, and began working immediately. I could not get over how quickly they moved the boxes up and down the stairs at both properties. They were incredibly professional, friendly, and hardworking. The final cost was very reasonable, Overall, a great moving day experience!

Move from old house to storage went well. The crew did get lost due to mispelling street name in mapquest but they called and got back on track and did not charge for the extra travel time. They loaded truck quickly and effeciently and asked if I wanted things placed in the storage unit in any particular place order etc. The second move from the storage bin to the new house was done by a different crew 2 of the 3 guys were just as fast and efficient as the first crew but the third guy did not have his heart in the moving business. But despite this they loaded the truck in about the same amount of time. I would recommend getting the first appointment of the day. I had the first appoinment on the first move and the afternoon or second appoinment on the second move. The estimated time of arrival was after 1pm but it was 3pm by the time they got there which put us on a busy street during rush hour. Fortunately space was saved by the nabes for the truck so it all worked out in the end. Nothing broken or lost in the two moves. I would suggest a GPS for the driver next time. Crew was friendly and explained everything before starting the job.

I would recommend Mambo, and would use them again. My only complaint about my last move was that two boxes were dropped, and they happened to be two of the only boxes marked FRAGILE everywhere, and some things broke. I suppose these things happen, and to their credit, they moved expensive medical equipment previously with no problems.
Description of Work: Most recently I used Mambo for my own move (apartment to house), but have used them several other times at work, doing everything from moving boxes of files, to an entire medical office. They've always been prompt, professional, and receptive to communication, and work efficiently.

3 guys from Mambo Movers showed up punctually and moved me from my third-storey apartment in west philly to my three-storey row in Fishtown. They were pleasant, careful with my things, and managed to move bulky items up and down narrow staircases expertly without damaging walls or floors. There was one little tear in the bottom of my mattress, but I don't think they could have avoided that as it was a real squeeze to get it up the stairs. They were efficient, didn't dawdle, and got it all done in about 2 1/2 hours. (But if you're estimating your costs, the contents of my apt could have fit in a 1BR)

Everything started out great - I left a phone message and they got back to me the same day and I was able to schedule a morning appointment for the date we wanted. I called back once with a question and the person who took my call was friendly and helpful. They arrived on time on the day of the move. They were not overly friendly - which is fine because they seemed to be efficient. They got to work right away and had the truck packed and ready to go very quickly. They were delayed meeting us at the new house because the driver chose to take a detour to drive by his childhood home which was near our old apartment. This was included in the time we were charged for. I had some concerns over a large plant and some large pictures in frames that I had been unsure of how to pack. Even though they said they would be fine, they did not do anything to further protect them, and during the move a major part of the plant was broken off and the whole thing was practically falling out of the pot. We made it clear that this was brand new construction we were moving into hoping that would encourage them to be extra careful. That was not the case . . . they brought everything in to the new house at the same speed they moved it out of the old house. TOO FAST!! They put several dings in our new hardwood floors in the kitchen and bedrooms. They forced a sleeper sofa through a door at the top of the stairs severely damaging the door facing to the point the wood needs to be replaced. However, that same sofa made it through the door of the room it was actually going in, so I'm confused as to why the other damage happened. They only had to put a few boxes in the master bathroom and still managed to put a quarter sized gouge in the wall! Of course I expect a few wall rubs during a move, but I thought they left an inordinate amount!! We do NOT recommend using Mambo for your move!

Poorly. Originally were supposed to have 3 workers. Received a call that day that 3rd worker had family emergency and no backup available. So they would be late and short staffed. Chris and Dean showed up. Smelled like beer and cigarettes. Were to move boxes and furniture from basement to be remodeled to another basement in the house. Unbelievably, they threw the boxes into the new location. Most boxes were books, however, one box of keepsakes broke open and items (low value) were broken. They took frequent breaks for business phone conversations, as the job earlier in the day apparently did not go well either, while still billing us for it. Worked very slowly and showed utter disregard for the contents of our move, made snide comments about the contents, etc.

They got it up there without damaging anything! They took good care of the furniture and walls and put it all in place with the shelves and everything. They were quick, pleasant and fast.
Description of Work: I needed to have a large bookcase/cabinet taken upstairs. I had attempted this previously and it couldn't make the angle of my stairway. I had changed some things and thought it might make it but wasn't sure. I figured it was time to bring in professionals to see if it could make it. I really wanted that bookcase upstairs to sit in the only place it would fit in my house. The guys did a great job. They couldn't get it up the steps--it was impossible. But they took it outside and hoisted it up to the second floor through the bedroom window. I am so happy.

It went really well. They arrived right in the middle of the widow of time in which they said they would arrived. They worked diligently and the skinny looking guys can haul an insane amount at once! We had more stuff than they anticipated so there was a short delay (10-15 min) while a supplemental van was brought in. At the other end, they were super effecient about unloading carefully and making sure everying went where it was supposed to go.
Description of Work: They moved us from a center city row home to the burbs. We had pretty much 98% in boxes so it was mostly just schlepping boxes and furniture.

This was the best move ever! My husband and I due to schooling and careers have moved a lot in the last ten years (20 times). We have tried every form of moving: pods, big company movers, local companies, do it yourself, shipping fed ex, etc. We have had such horrible experiences that we were skeptical of all the good reviews for Mambo. However, five minutes after meeting Serge, a little flicker of optimism bloomed. The move was everything we hoped for and more. We packed (our choice). I was comforted that Serge came by a couple of days in advance of our move to make sure that everything was going well and to give me some pointers on difficult to pack things. The day of the move Serge showed up with three other guys and they completely emptied our apartment in a few hours. The guys were friendly and very careful with our stuff. Serge and another gentlemen drove everything themselves cross country- a HUGE improvement from the standard big company mover where your things get shuffled from one truck to another, something getting lost and broken each time. They called with updates from the road. We had Serge's cell phone number if we ever had any questions. They arrived a couple of days ahead of schedule- I got the feeling if we had not been ready for them they would have happily waited for us. However, we were ready so they came to unload. Once again, great service- nice guys who are careful of your stuff and super respectful. It only took them an hour and a half to unload! They put everything where requested. We have about 75% unpacked now. Not a single item has been broken- including a large fish tank. We haven't plugged in our flat screen TV yet, but after seeing the way they packed it I will shocked if its broken. The only slight con was the price. Easily 1.5x the highest estimate from any other company- however, you get what you pay for. It was worth the extra couple grand in peace of mind if nothing else. Serge estimated the first day for the total amount and that was it. No funny charges at the end. Just straight forward. Half at the beginning, half when they arrive. Insured- but you don't even need it they are so careful. I also wished they took credit, but once again a small concern. I will absolutely use them again, even if I have to fly them to California.

Very well. They let us know in advance that we would need cash or a money order. They called the morning of the move to confirm when they would arrive. Upon arrival, they navigated our skinney street very well with the truck, confirmed both the rate and what was or wasn't moving with us, and noted the time. They called when they arrived in DC to let us know they were finally taking a break for a late lunch. When unloading they hustled as much as in the morning and also went out of their way to discover that we could load most of the boxes through a window (we were one floor up from the ground level), something that allowed them to finish quicker than was estimated.
Description of Work: Mambo Movers helped us move from a 2 br rowhome in Manayunk/Roxborough into an apartment just outside of Washington, DC with three men and a truck. This was a semi-local move, so they loaded, drove, and unloaded in the same day.

Excellent - despite the city deciding to repave our street at the first location, we found a solution that worked. The Mambo guys were very flexible and amiable and worked very hard, carrying lots of heavy stuff down stairs and then up more at the destination. Great service, great value... I would definitely recommend them. It was a big move and took most of the day, but I couldn't have asked for more.

At first, the experience was fine. Booking was very quick and easy, and movers showed up on time. Movers initially polite, but not overly friendly. Half way through the job, their boss comes to evaluate progress and tells me that he took another (later afternoon) job away from this particular crew, because he was concerned they would be rushed. He then decides to give them the later job back. The result was disastrous. Predictably they rushed my job and damaged both the place they were leaving and the place they were going to (multiple scratches and shallow holes in the walls, badly discolored door mouldings, damaged exterior door frames and an 8 or so inch scratch into the brand new hardwood floor). They also put a permanent white stripe (from the door mouldings) onto the front of an expensive, new brown velvet (nicer than it sounds, trust me) sofa and put dents in about 3 other pieces of wood furniture. I immediately complained and said I wanted to speak to the boss before I paid them, and left messages on the main office number and on their email, on the spot, to no avail. The movers were *barely* apologetic and refused to call their boss on his cell phone or give me the number, saying "it's the weekend. we don't call him on the weekend" -- which is about as absurd a comment as I have ever heard, in particular since the boss was there earlier in the day. I paid them simply to avoid the alternative to calling the cops, and waited a WEEK before anyone from Mambo got back to me. When the boss finally did, his response was tepid at best, and his apology questionably sincere. He then sends out someone to "patch the walls", who turns out to be one of the rudest people I have had the displeasure of dealing with lately (he was half an hour late to his appointment, when I mentioned that to him, he literally shrugged and rolled his eyes before offering a grudging "sorry", and then basically tried not to speak to me or my fiance the rest of the time he was there!) Of course, nothing has been done or offered to compensate me for the scratch floor or walls (other than the basic spackling of the walls) or the damage to the furniture. Overall, I would stay FAR away from this company.

Mambo Movers made moving into our first house a sane and doable process. The three guys filled their big truck with all our belongings and were careful and fun through the process. I cannot believe their endurance as they climbed steps hundreds of times, struggled to get my behemoth desk up a small stairway, and schlepped dozens of boxes of books and other heavy items. They also had good advice about securing our bookshelves and how to cut the box spring to get it up the stairway. They came well recommended and, trust me, it's well-deserved.
