Some of the drivers are really reckless (namely whoever was driving truck 201 at 1:35-1:40pm on July 9,2023 (also has 22s circled on the back). They were swerving all over the road and came within inches of running a man and his dog over on Second Street in NoLibs. The man and his dog were in a crosswalk.

Big shout out to Mambo! They’ve moved me twice now; both moves were time consuming and the guys kept up the energy to get the job done right. I called around and got many quotes for my move and they were by far the most reasonably priced as well. My moving team, Conor, Ian & Jeff were efficient, friendly and helpful. This most recent move had a little snafu and a member of their office team, Dan Henry, quickly showed up to save the day so we could continue with the move. They backed the truck up on two tiny south Philly streets, which was impressive! They moved us into a 3 story home with a basement (so there’s a lot of stairs). And before they were done, we walked around to make sure the furniture was where I wanted it and set in a way where I could begin to unpack easily. I did not find any damages either. They handled our items with care. Somehow they got a loveseat down our narrow basement steps too! I can’t thank them enough. I would totally use them again on my next move.

I've had really a hot and cold experience with the Mambo guys over the last year. Today's experience was a scorcher. I have raved positively to folks on Next Door, renters in my building and to others about the great job Mambo has done for us on two intercity moves and a day of packing. Their guys were meticulous with our stuff (with the exception on one guy named Bill who pretty much didn't work at all), and worked their butts off. I have usually corresponded with Mike at Mambo and he has always been extremely helpful and accommodating. My most recent experience in calling in today was with someone named Jay. He was extremely off putting and incredibly rude. I called to cancel a move and after about 10 seconds of silence on his part he explained they had a cancelation policy (which is the absolute first time I've ever heard of this in the year we've been working with Mambo). I explained that has never been stated to me. He said they would waive this in a very condescending way but I should be aware of it for the next time. To which I said, "yes of course". He literally screamed at me, "OK then!" and hung up on me. Nice huh. Probably not the guy you want as the face of your company. Moving is a hard business, and I believe Mambo has earned their 4.5 star rating. But they also have to be aware that a brand can quickly be diminished by a few bad characters. Bill and Jay are a liability to the hard work of the rest of the company. And the reason I would never consider using them again.

We hired Mambo based on other reviews on this site and local word of mouth. We were only moving 5 blocks away. But they underestimated the time involved in our move; only a few cursory questions were used for them to determine what we were moving, like how many bedrooms we had. We packed ourselves, to be sure it was done right, and had no broken items in boxes. BUT Mambo was very careless about putting our furniture on the truck; several pieces were badly scratched, two of our obviously delicate antique chairs were broke, and a box was put upside down on an upholstered piece, making the liquids in the box leak onto and ruin the upholstery. Without "proof" that the chairs were not broken beforehand and that the upholstered piece wasn't already ruined, they would not reimburse us for the damages. So beware, and take pictures of all your furniture before the move, and remind the movers of any extra delicate items. Oh, and the 5 hour estimated move-took 9 hours.

The move was originally scheduled for dec 27 but they did not call or come. Next day we called and were met with apologies and awesome service. The three movers were polite, efficient, and even disassembled a bed in record time. I would not hesitate to use mambo again. Things happen, and I understand a mess up can occur, but they came through in the end. Thank you Mambo.

I hired Mambo Movers to move items from my apartment in Center City Philadelphia. During the course of the move, several items were broken. The first was a desk that I purchased from BoConcept for around $1200. The second thing was a light I acquired off Amazon that was about $130. The third thing they broke was an entertainment center that I also purchased from BoConcept. They were able to partially fix the entertainment center by drilling new holes for the rails, but the fact that the damage occurred speaks to how poorly they handled all of the furniture during the move. I've asked to be compensated for the furniture, and they have refused. This is in spite of the fact that during the move, while they were breaking things, the movers told me not to worry and that the office would take care of me. This was said multiple times by two of the movers, and witnessed by several members of my family. Now they are refusing to honor their word and trying to fallback on their insurance disclaimer that they only pay for up to $0.60/lb for broken items. I intentionally listed on the insurance form that they broke my desk, in an effort to exclude that, which Chris (the mover) told me was the right thing to do at the time. Now Mambo has not replied to any further emails, in spite of my repeated requests to try to avoid this outside of litigation (which will be my only remedy for the financial harm unless they decide to pay up).

So, I was moving last minute and a colleague told me to call Mambo. I am soooo glad he did. At first when I called them, it seemed a little casual but they are ALL about business. They packed me AND moved me. They were fast, quick and responsive. I was moving to the Murano in downtown Philly and the building required an insurance certificate from Mambo, which they gladly faxed to our property management department. They came with 3 people to pack me and 3 people to move me. They were fast, professional and personable! I tipped them nicely! I would totally recommend them!

Mambo did a fantastic job with my move. Julian, Chris, and Adam were an excellent team. They were punctual, friendly, professional, and very hard working. The prices were reasonable for a move over 40 miles and the guys got the job done in a total of 5 hours (including the 1+ hour drive to the new place). They called at 9am to let me know that they were headed my way, arrived within an hour, and immediately went to work. We told them which items were going to storage so they could load those first. They took great care of my belongings and wrapped/strapped items where necessary -- including my large glass dining room table and 55" flat screen tv. Once we got to the new residence (3 floor home) they carried items to which floor I specified, and took some items out of the house to go into storage. After that, we took the items to a nearby storage facility where they expertly fit everything in. I would highly recommend them to anyone moving.

They were punctual and professional and the pricing was more reasonable than other competitors. They packed efficiently and the move was done in time, one day for packing and one for moving a three bedroom row house. However, there were a few things that I didn't like: 1) they didn't pack my large painting correctly, just threw a blanket around and under, so there is a slight scratch on it. 2) they punched through a bookcase and left a big hole in it, and never offered to pay for it. I mentioned it to a person that was moving us and he just shrugged. It was from ikea so no big deal but it annoyed me that they wouldn't care.

The guys were very good about telling me their ETA. They made it right at the end of the window they told me to expect their arrival. At the start of the move, the head guy walked around with me to talk about the plan and what needed special attention. I packed very well so they didn't have much to do in the ways of wrapping, but they did wrap the pieces of furniture I asked them to, and they did it very well. Only issue was they misplaced the box spring cover I provided, so it traveled uncovered, which I was not thrilled about--but at least they had used the mattress cover that was provided in the set I bought specially for the move. They had also forgotten their tape, but it wasn't really needed, so no biggie. They guys were very nice and they were shockingly fast. I felt very comfortable with how they handled my items, though I could see that they didn't quite know how to handle antiques (I worked in a museum conservation department, so I know what kind of handling will weaken joints etc.). Unluckily, when we arrived to the other house the head guy revealed that the leg on my antique settee had broken off. He said it happened at the pickup location, but they didn't tell me until nearly the end of the move. He broke the news very delicately, and although I was not upset and was definitely not hostile, it became a bit of a tense moment with some unwarranted defensiveness coming from the head guy. Honestly, these things happen. The great news is that Mambo did everything in their power to fix the issue. They picked it up, delivered it to my conservator, and picked it up and brought it back to me when the repair was finished. All gratis. Because it was an accident, I proposed that Mambo pay only 2/3 of the conservation bill, which they did without question. Their great customer service made me feel very positive about an experience which could have easily veered into negative territory had their customer service on the office end by Mike been anything but stellar and understanding. I would use them again--primarily for the positive experience after the breakage.

Mambo Movers was chosen based a very strong recommendation from a friend and the very positive reviews on Angie's List. Our move was scheduled for the early afternoon, with an assurance that their crew would give us a call one half hour before they reached the storage facility where our goods were located. When we did receive the call, I left my house to meet them, and I waited .... and waited ... and waited. Finally, they showed up a full hour and twenty minutes after they called. I will admit that they were apologetic when they arrived, but that was not definitely not an auspicious start to the move. I brought them into the storage facility to show them where my locker was located on the second floor of the facility, and they made the decision that it would be quicker for them to move their truck to another loading area than where they had initially decided to park. That seemed logical, so I was fine with that decision. I went up to my locker and started pulling goods out of my locker to speed up the process. In the next twenty to twenty-five minutes, I managed to empty my entire locker and arrange everything (including a sofa, a dining room table, and a 150 pound mirror) along the hallway, all organized in a logical fashion to speed up the process. During that time period, I only saw one member of the three member crew - he came up twice to take a load down. I have no idea what the other crew members were doing during that time. I finally packed up a load on a dolly myself, and went down to find out what the delay was. I bumped into the other two crew members on their way out of the elevator, and I told them that everything was organized and waiting. When I came out of the elevator on the first floor, I saw that they had managed to park their truck in such a way that it blocked access to the entire facility for all other customers and I had to immediately deal with one seriously p***** off guy who was upset that my moving company did this. There wasn't much I could say to him - it was clearly a very bad decision to park where they had. The crew moved the truck out of the way and continued on the move. Things finally started moving at a decent pace. Despite the fact that the move was now progressing at an acceptable pace, I was very irritated. The combination of being late, the idiotic decision about where they parked the truck, and the fact that they didn't seem to be working as hard as I was all were grinding on me. We left the storage facility and headed to my house, where they did manage to find parking very quickly. They brought the goods into my house, and that was that. I will say that they didn't break anything, but the rest of the experience with Mambo Movers was not one that I'd repeat. I've made four moves over the past three years, and I wish that I had not taken my friend's recommendation about using these guys.

The pricing structure is a little odd but more than reasonable, one you understand it. They moved our apartment faster than any movers previously and for less money. They had serious hustle and followed directions well making it very easy to unpack. They were all polite and responsive to concerns. Overall they were the best movers we have used to date. My only reservation is that they asked us to take a large number of fragile and valuable items. Fortunately we had a smaller truck available, but that could have been a sticking point.

We used Mambo movers when we moved from Center city out to the suburbs several years ago. My memory is a little fuzzy now but overall it went okay. The guys were nice and prompt, and the move was smooth. I think we paid somewhere around $1,000 plus tip for it. They left some permanent scratch marks on several pieces of furniture that we discovered later. We were unhappy about it, but decided to let it go. Now we are planning to move again in May, I contacted Mambo. Got an email back from Pete Danz promptly, asking me to call the office for an accurate estimate. I just called. The experience was extremely unpleasant. After telling me the hourly rate, the person on the phone told me there was going to be travel charge from the office to my house and then from my new house back to their office. That was okay with me, so I asked how long that would be. He told me 1 hour and 20 minutes. I was of course surprised, because we work in Philly and drive it every day. I know for a fact it's 10 minutes from my house to center city. He told me he just used google map time. Okay, so I google mapped it myself while on the phone with him. Came out 16+26=42 minutes. After this he got testy and said "we are booked for those days and cannot serve you", and abruptly hanged up on me! I was stunned. So I called back the office again, and got Julian this time. I told him what just happened, and he said, it's just going to be one hour on our book, and we don't want to move you, contact someone else, bye! Wow! What a proud business! Criminals get more decent treatment in a court house. They said themselves that they would charge according to travel time, and I was just pointing out their estimate of travel time was very inaccurate! Actually I don't even care if they wanted to charge a flat $200 fee in addition to the hourly rate, they can do whatever they want with their price structure. I just wanted to know the price that's all. But if they pretend that they calculate their price according to some formula, and there's an obvious mistake, of course I'd point it out! Unbelievable.
