They were exceptionally prompt in taking my requests. They were very professional compared to other individual contractors. They put customer service first. Their professionalism was obvious from the the initial estimate, throughout the project, and until the bill was presented.
Description of Work: They took out all of the old lighting in my home and installed new lighting all around my home.

They were only 20 minutes late, but they were very clean and fast. They offered to look at some other lights that were malfunctioning and guaranteed their work for a year. Very polite and professional. Pricey, but I would use them again.

We set up a time for the work to be done. There was some confusion about the time (not sure if on my end or theirs) but that didn't matter, when I called to confirm, they kept the appointment and were there on time. Pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. I later found out that the handyman service I use also relies on Generation 3.
Description of Work: Re-wired my dryer, which had been installed incorrectly (and dangerously) by the appliance carrier. I had been getting shocks, and he explained the problem and gave me an estimate for that, and to inspect my electrical system.

Generation 3 is great in some ways - very fast, courteous and professional. But they're the first to admit that they charge premium prices as a service to customers who want their work done fast. Moreover, I think they'd be great for small jobs that you want done quickly, but their installers were sloppy on our big job. We had to have them back repeatedly to fix issues here and there, and some of their outlets etc. were cut sloppily. They are a fine company, but I don't get the rave reviews that others give them.
Description of Work: They rewired most of our house, including installing ceiling fans, interior and exterior light fixtures, and switches and outlets.

We just bought a house and as is typical with a 100-year old Philadelphia row home, the electrical service and number of outlets just isn't up to what we would need. I called to schedule and estimate and Chad was very communicative and called when he knew he was going to arrive at the tail end of the window we were given just to let us know, even though he'd technically still be on time. He accomplished the walk through and quoting process quickly given the number of the items that we wanted done and generated a printed quote on the stop. Pretty slick. Generation 3 managed to schedule the work for the following Thursday since I already was off from work the next week. I really appreciated them fitting me in to accommodate my schedule. The crew of two electricians showed up promptly, and went through the quoted estimate and got the work completed in a day and half. Communication about expectations, location and any changes were very good and they cleaned up after themselves. Once I figure out what kind of washer and dryer I'm getting, we'll have them back to run the power for those appliances as well.
Description of Work: Upgraded service from 100 amps to 200 amps, new breaker box, grounding rod and whole house surge protector. Rewired first floor and ran additional circuits and 12 new outlets including external deck outlets and GFCI outlets in the bathroom.

Jim showed up on time and got right to work. He was very professional and methodical in getting the work done. He made a point to clean up after himself - he even returned after leaving because he forgot to vacuum one spot after adding an outlet! The price seems a bit high, but I would use them again - it's worth it for the punctuality, cleanliness and professionalism.

The first time we used them they were great. We had issues getting in touch with them. The second time they lost our date and didn't show. They came the next week they came and did our jobs. When they initially installed the fan they didn't finish the sparkling. There was dust all over the bathroom. They just didn't clean things. There were wires left outside when he fixed the doorbell. Everything works fine, but it just wasn't the best experience.
Description of Work: They repaired a doorbell, ceiling fan. They also replaced a bathroom exhaust fan. They had to replaced the internals on the doorbell. They were able to rewire the doorbell buttons. They removed the old bathroom exhaust fan and replaced it with a new one. The ceiling fan wasn't installed properly so they had to rewire it.

Pleasant and friendly from the first phone call. On time for the estimate, and he quickly figured out the problems and told us what we needed. Estimate was fair for the amount of work to be done. We scheduled the work to be done about ten days after the initial estimate and were slightly worried when we didn't receive a confirmation call the day before. But, they arrived exactly on time the next day, and finished the work in less time than estimated, left the house cleaner than when they walked in. Friendly and polite during the entire process. I would recommend them to anyone!

They did it quickly and professionally. Two days later I started having problems with the outlet. I thought it was related to the work they did but so I called them and they came out immediately on a Sunday. It turns out it was from dampness in the circuit box. They cleaned out the circuit box at no extra charge and the outlet has worked fine ever since.

Wonderfully, they came promptly to do a free estimate, and gave me a very detailed and clear breakdown of charges. Scheduling was easy, and the guys who did the work were friendly, cleaned up, and did a great job. They had to do some of the work, and then come back after the drywallers to finish the installations, and again they were prompt and did a wonderful job. Emails and calls were answered quickly, and everyone there was so friendly and obviously takes pride in their work.
Description of Work: Generation 3 installed several ceiling fans and lights, a couple of new outlets, and replaced many older outlets and switches. They also replaced our 2 electric boxes in the basement with a new panel, taking out the extra meter, and marked almost all of the breakers, which had been very confusing before.

When I made my appointment, they were friendly and were able to visit me shortly to give me an estimate. For the appointment to do the work, the electricians were almost an hour late. However, they were friendly and polite. They did the work while I was at my job. The lights in my kitchen (under the cabinets) have made a huge difference. The dimmers have also made our house a nicer place to be in. The electricians accidentally put a dimmer in the wrong room (it was a room that was on the estimate but we had decided not to do it to save money). They forgot to put a dimmer in our bathroom. They returned and put the dimmer in our bathroom for no additional cost (and did not charge us for the other room). A very positive experience. I look forward to using them again.

They showed up on time to give the estimate and perform the work. The work took a few days to be completed. The workers were friendly and professional and cleaned up every day when they were finished. The end cost for the job was right in line with the estimate. I would hire them again and would also recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They installed an outlet in my garage, installed under cabinet lighting in my kitchen and installed some lighting and outlets in my basement. This was the first time that I had used Generation 3. This work was done in the winter of 2007.

Due to problems stemming from our furnace, Chad from Generation 3 came out the same-day we called to offer a free estimate, checking and "fixing" some non-working outlets at no charge. He explained the issues, noted that there was no current safety hazard (e.g. additional work was not strictly necessary), and offered a quote for future consideration. The quote was on the high-end but competitive and included an in-home surge protector. When we called to schedule the work, they fit us in two-days later, arriving promptly at 8AM (to meet our schedule). They completed the work by early afternoon (ahead of schedule). Except for a bit of dirt tracked-in by the basement door, everything was swept and clean, all outlets/switches checked, and the breaker box neatly labeled. I am no electrician, but removing the panel, one could see that all wires and cables were neatly bundled with cables angled and squared off. Overall, a really, really nice job!
Description of Work: First visit: provided a free quote, simple diagnosis of broken breaker - temporary fix by double-tapping an adjacent breaker (no charge). Second visit: Replaced the circuit breaker box: remove old box, install new plywood frame, new 30-breaker box, all new circuit breakers, replaced meter housing, new copper ground, GFCI outlet by the breaker box, home-surge protector, new cable from power main, cleaned-up wiring within the box - splicing wires where necessary.

Both the staff member doing the estimate and the repair people were prompt, efficient, and courteous. We live in an old house with slightly quirky wiring, but the repair people were able to improvise solutions, and everything worked perfectly at the end of the job. We were very impressed with this service.

The quality of the work was excellent in each case. The dining room fixture was a complicated piece to assemble -- with a series of cables surrounding a two-piece, blown glass ornament -- but was done flawlessly. The junction box did not adequately accommodate the design of the fixture, but the condo association rules prohibited moving the junction box, as Generation 3 recommended. Generation 3 could have installed the fixture in a way that was workable but far from ideal, and I agreed to that. But instead, he kept working the fixture's cables and positioning until he was able to overcome the limitations of the junction box and install it perfectly. Then, he quickly repaired a loose connection in the kitchen fixture. During the entire time he could not have been more pleasant but was also very efficient.
Description of Work: Generation 3 Electric completed two tasks -- assembled and installed a new dining room fixture and repaired a kitchen fixture.

Overall, this was the best experience "ever" with a contractor. Ever! They promptly responded to my request for an estimate and set-up an appointment for within a week. The work was completed as promised and I highly recommend them. Although I thought the estimate was high, I agreed to the price quoted based on their reputation on Angie's list. I will more than likely use them again but not before getting a comparable estimate from another company or two from Angie's list. I didn't answer the survey question about price because I wasn't sure what grade to give them. This is not a negative comment about their pricing, but a price conscious consumer comment for work that I never had done before.
Description of Work: The work performed included a new 100amp 220 Volt main electrical panel with the capacity for 30 full breakers. In addition, (and the main reason I called for an estimate) Generation 3 Electric removed all non functional lines and control wires in my basement. They put covers on open junction boxes, added a new general use 15 amp single pole switch, added 5 general use 15 amp outlets, relocated an existing light switch from one location to another, reinstalled the heater control wire from the heater, and ran 3 new 15/20 amp circuits to location in the basement from the service panel.

It was probably one of the most positive experiences we've had with a contractor. They provided a written estimate on-site when we met with them, and gave us options of how to handle certain things and explained the pros/cons. They were scheduling about a week out, so we didn't have to get to the back of a queue and wait weeks to get on their calendar. Their guys showed up on time, in uniforms, were extremely polite and helpful answering questions and making some last minute changes to the job. They worked quickly, cleaned up thoroughly, and took away all of the trash when they left. There was a small discrepancy with the invoice (we had taken something out of the job, but the estimate hadn't been revised and the on-site guy included it in the invoice). We paid the incorrect amount and didn't catch it until after Generation 3 had our check. We called Bill, and there were no issues--we sent them a new check for the lower amount and the original check was destroyed. A class operation!
Description of Work: We moved into a new house that needed quite a bit of cosmetic and basic electrical work. Generation 3 replaced three interior and one exterior light fixture, repaired two non-working exterior lights and a timer, replaced all of the electrical outlets and switches (50!), installed a ground wire, added additional electrical outlets in a bedroom and an attic that is being renovated, and did some rewiring in a bathroom. We supplied the light fixtures and the outlets and switches, so the cost is mainly for labor.
