Job was done expertly and on time. This is my fourth time using them. I am very pleased with the quality of work. The electricians know what they are doing and are very thorough when working. Questions were answered. They explained what they had to do. They are a little pricy but it’s worth it. They stand behind their work.

The contractor scheduled an estimate for Friday, May 25, 2018 with an arrival window of 2pm to 4pm. At 1pm on date of estimate, hour before anticipated arrival time, Cindy from dispatch left a voice message stating they were too busy to come today and asked me to call to re-schedule. When I talked with her, she lied and said she could have had someone there when she called me. However she never said that in her voice message. So you could have had someone make it after 1 pm but not at 2pm? Really??? Postpone at the last minute and then lie to the customer. This is not a good way to treat a customer. I will get someone else for my electrical needs.

I had some lights/outlets go out and decided it was time to get rid of my fuse box. They came and removed the main fuse box and put in the panel. But, those same lights/outlets were still out after this work was done. A few days later while looking over the work that was done, I saw a small fuse box in the garage ceiling, that was missed on the first visit. This small fuse box had the blown fuse, which I replaced and got those lights/outlets back on. I called explained the situation and they were very responsive and apologetic; we arranged the follow up visit to remove the small fuse box and get it on the panel at no additional cost. This was completed.

On 4/6/2018 a representative from Generation Electric came to my home to provide an estimate to replace an existing chandelier with a replacement of the same chandelier. The existing chandelier was being replaced due to the previous installation errors and damage sustained during the first installation attempt by another electrician. I made the representative aware of some very important aspects of the installation at this time. The chandelier has 22 crystals and would need the cords cut to equal lengths and rewired. Each crystal would need to be wrapped to insure that they would not bang against each other and become nicked. The entire fixture is very heavy and four people minimum would be needed onsite to install. The representative assured me none of these concerns would be an issue and that electricians experienced with installing similar fixtures would be sent for the install. I explicitly told him that this was a job for professionals experienced with this type of project and that I did not want a repeat the first attempt- the chandelier was expensive! On 4/24/2018 a crew of four electricians arrived to install the replacement chandelier. The first step was the removal of the old chandelier. After this was complete the electricians informed me that they did not feel comfortable or believe it was safe to install the new chandelier without additional support beams being installed in the ceiling. I agreed and told them I would have the ceiling cut open, supports installed, drywall replaced and everything repainted for the installation. I had this work completed over the next couple of weeks. On 5/11/2018 the second crew of electricians (only three this time) came to my home for the installation. The window of arrival was 8am to 10am with a call prior. I received no call and they arrived at 9:10am. After a few minutes of being there and me telling them protecting the crystals from nicks was top priority they determined they needed something to wrap each crystal with. Shouldn’t they have known this? One of the electricians was from the first crew additionally, this was made quite clear during the estimate. At this point two of the three guys left to go to Home Depot to buy bubble wrap. Approximately an hour later they returned with bubble wrap and began the installation. The team struggled from the very beginning from how to best move the fixture out of the box to work on the wiring to where to place the fixture to get the cord height adjustment taken care of. I told them that the previous team elevated the fixture across two four feet ladders which helped with being able to adjust the cords and wire the fixture. Once the wiring began one of the electricians told me that they would not be able to make sure each of the crystals were level and that the fixture was not meant to be rewired or have the cords cut to length. This was incredibly infuriating to me! I gave complete instructions to the estimator and hired your organization to complete an install that now I was being told could not be completed the way it was meant and agreed upon. Restoration Hardware indicates directly on their website that “cords can be cut to length at time of professional installation.” Isn’t that why I hired your organization?? I told the electricians this and one began to actually get aggressive and loud with me. It was to the point where they were saying they did not think they would be able to complete the job. At this time I had no other choice but to stop working (I work from home) and begin to assist in the process. I instructed them and assisted for the next two hours. I could hardly believe this was happening but wanted to get the fixture up and was done hearing them ***** about the fact that it was a difficult/impossible job and they only had three guys! I also called your office at this point to request a fourth person. I was told someone would look into it and call me back. I never received a return call. Apparently there was some communication with the electricians as they mentioned the field supervisor was not responding and was probably in a bar?!? During the process of me and one of the electricians trying to level and secure each cord- which by the way several crystals still are not even close to being level because the ladders were not level with each other- one of the other electricians went to get smoothies and one stood watching. After that part of the installation was complete the electrician that assisted me left for at least an hour- I think he went to sit in the van? The chandelier did finally make it up to the ceiling but is not flush to the ceiling all the way around- it was too heavy to do this with three guys which is why four was requested during the estimate. During the clean-up of all the trash, wires etc which piled up along the way one of the guys ran right into the crystals (now uncovered) with his head and banged several together resulting in chips in two of them. Unbelievable- this was the main reason the first fixture was being replaced! Needless to say this installation was NOT a success! It was made very clear during the estimate that individuals with experience installing this type of fixture should be sent- this did not happened and now I again have a 5k fixture that is damaged and not installed correctly! I am completely disappointed and feel like the estimator sold me a bill of goods!

We are very sorry that you had a bad experience with GEN3. No customer should ever be treated disrespectfully and we take this matter very seriously. The entire job and all of this feedback has been reviewed with the electricians involved, as well as the management team. Our Electricians strive to please every customer, which can sometimes be our downfall. This experience has taught us that custom modifications to this beautiful and elaborate chandelier are outside of the scope of work that our team excels at, and we will no longer be installing lighting fixtures that require more than 2 electricians. Our core company focus it to provide excellent service to for a wide range of typical electrical projects for homeowners. This custom installation clearly fell outside our business model and we apologize that we did not recognize this sooner. In the end, we agreed to waive all charges in lieu of returning to the home for any further attempts to modify the chandelier, as we didn't feel that would yield a better result. We regret that we were unable to resolve this in a manner that was more satisfying to you.

Job went great. They are the best! No wasted time. Prompt, friendly, respectful, helpful, and spotless clean up. I had recessed lights but when 3 bulbs blew, I knew there was a problem. Lights were hard to get down., even for them. They recommended replacing with LED lighting. Lights were on sale and I authorized the job in my kitchen. I was so happy that I decided right then and there to do the basement, as I had same lights as old kitchen ones, down there. Generation 3 worked around my schedule. I still got the sale price and coupon to use. I highly recommend them. This is my third time using them.

Excellent communication around the scope of work, when it would be done, how much it would cost, why it was needed, etc. No matter who I talked to at Gen3, they all conducted themselves in this manner, making sure I understood every step that was going to take place, when it was going to happen and how much it would cost. And the job was done with very competitive pricing. Old school customer service at a great price. Not many companies still left out there like these guys.

We had numerous switches (4 that weren't working well), and needed a new outlet installed. The company was responsive by message, scheduled a visit. I was running late, and by message and call they pushed back their visit within the 2 hour window to accomodate me. They arrived on time, called prior to leaving, were courteous, punctual, and did phenomenal work. The techinician was great- Brian knew his stuff, walked me through everything that seemed wrong, installed and replaced an outlet, pulled out and pushed back a huge washer and dryer that were barely wedged in place! All in all, phenomenal. Would totally hire again!

Great. Gen 3 team was very communicative with me from afar. I live in Texas and the property is in Philadelphia. They gave me a very thorough quote and were transparent when there was a need to vary from quoted price due to unforeseen circumstances. The quote and planning for the project was also considerate of future projects and sensitive to my long term goals for the property. The technicians were polite and thorough and even sent me a video walk through when the job was done. I have worked with them on 2 big jobs so far and will be calling them again when I'm ready for the next.

initially an electrician arrived to see the job and without an appointment to do so, said he could begin immediately but I asked for a quote and made an appointment for him to return. I asked if it would be a problem to install an antique and he told me he was an expert and gave me some items to purchase in advance of the job including a ceiling medalion. The electrician arrived on time and began work; i looked in on him over an hour later and saw that he was having difficulty which he blamed on the light being an antique and that he would have to return with different gear to do the work. When he returned on a different date, he still couldnt get the light to hang straight nor get it to work properly and said that I should have hired an expert in antique installation. At this point, I was getting fed up and called the company who asked to speak to the electrician who then told me that his replacement would return in a few minutes; nearly two hours later another electrician arrived who apologized for the first electrician who actually lied about when the second electrician would arrive who was over an hour away by car. By this time the medallion that we bought for the light had been ruined, the ceiling had a much bigger hole than was necessary for the install and we made arrangements for a fourth appointment for this electrician to return. The second electrician arrived on time and installed the light flawlessly in less than hour. So, if you hire this company, make sure you get a knowledgeable installer; my experience with James Darby who saved the day was terrific but the experience of waiting to get a light installed with a hole in our dining room ceiling for a month was not what I would call a good one.

All stipulations for the job we requested were valid/met but once on-site we received a new estimate over 4x the amount listed on the deal. The explanation was due to a miscommunication with their home office on the classification of light fixture vs chandelier despite all the height, weight, and electric restrictions being within range. The stock photo shown in the advertisement matched closely to what we needed installed, which made it that much more puzzling. That said, everyone we spoke with were professional and friendly but couldn't move forward at the increased price and canceled the work.
