NEVER NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY I can't ever a customer experience that was and continued to be worse. First- salesman showed up late. 2nd- way too pushy and gave me nonsense about not having enough time to allocate to me and give me some pricing. I felt pressured into selecting a follow-up appointment. The day of the appointment- I realized I had no interest in buying from them and cancelled the appointment. The salesman texted me and stated "why would you cancel?". Can you imagine- giving me attitude? I told him to not contact me again and instructed him to inform the company the same, Later that day and the next 4 DAYS- I received phone calls from them offering discounts, etc.

The process was very convenient and we are happy everything was done quickly. The installation crew did a great job. We received our quote at home on a Wednesday night and the carpet was installed by Friday night. The only issue we have is with the quality of the padding. We asked 3 times about upgraded padding during our quote. He assured us that the padding empire used was already an upgrade over normal padding. The only padding upgrade option they offered was waterproof padding and we did not need that. After the installation we noticed that the padding was not as cushioned as the padding that was replaced. Also, the padding in the house we just moved from was also much better than what empire installed. The floor is not as soft and as comfortable to sit on. That is our one big disappointment. We would have been completely satisfied if the padding had been a better quality and/or the price of the carpet was lower.

The quality of work was good. I picked the top line of laminate so it looks like hard wood. Their quality of flooring that they provide you is worth it. The only problem was one of the workers used a bathroom they weren't suppose to. I give them high grades.

They were punctual, professional and the pricing was perfect. The salesperson gave me a lot of options. He explained financing. The salesperson was knowledgeable. He put the floor in on a timely manner. The only downside was the head guy not bilingual, he had to have two other helpers that had to translate for me, but we got it done and managed to get through the translation.

The floor came out beautifully, but the contractor put a grout in my kitchen sink and two of my garbage also and it was a big mess. I was right in the next room and he could have asked me about where to dispose it instead of in my kitchen sink. They also did my carpeting in the stairway and the master bedroom.

Based upon my recent experience with Empire, I do not recommend their service. After measuring the house for carpet installation, the salesman proceeded to tell us of the overstock supply of carpet in the warehouse. He said someone was fired for ordering too much carpet, but we could benefit from their mistake. He stated that the overstock samples he would show us were better priced than their current half-off special sale. I was not buying into his better deal for us tactic, but listened as we were trying to keep costs down. After deciding on a potential carpet selection, we asked about warranty transfer. He told us the warranty was not transferable, but if we were to sell the home, we could give the new homeowners our warranty information they could use it. I told him that was not honest and I would not do it. We agreed to set up an install date knowing that they might offer a price match and that we could cancel. Our salesman stated we had three days from the date of his visit to cancel. He said we could call customer service and tell them we wished to cancel service and no questions would be asked. On the following day when I called to cancel our install, customer service gave me a confirmation number but said I was not in the system yet, so someone from customer service would call me back. Today I received an email confirming my installation appointment. I called customer service and told the representative that I had a cancellation confirmation number and wanted to verify my cancellation. She told me I had to speak with another representative. When the next representative from corporate got on the line, I explained that I wanted to verify my cancellation. He put me on hold several times while trying to convince me to keep my appointment. When I was finally able to get him to accept that all I wanted was to confirm my installation cancellation,he said "fine". When I asked if I needed a new confirmation number, he stated "no" and hung up on me. I do not recommend Empire.

Installers came on time as promised. Vinyl installation was time-consuming. It was obvious that these workmen wanted to do a good job. The salesman told us that the job would take 4-5 hours. These 2 men were meticulous in their work; the tile pattern was squares, and they lined everything up perfectly. They removed the toilet in the powder room, moved the stove and refrigerator. After laying the vinyl, they placed 1/2" round molding for a perfect finished job. They worked 9 hours without a break! The "lead" guy explained what he was doing and why, and asked questions about our desires for particular areas. We were very pleased. The following day, 3 men presented to install the carpet on time. It was a father and his 2 sons. The son, Manuel, explained the work and took charge of the job. They were all pleasant, respectful and courteous and set right to work. It was obvious that they knew what they were doing. We could not be happier with the installation. They worked very hard, the job took 4-5 hours and everything was done perfectly. (Again, these men worked without a break.) Whatever they are paying these men, it is not enough. You would think they were installing in their own home.....the jobs could not have been done better. Wonderful We are very happy with the results; it was great seeing the products in our home prior to purchase. Appreciated the company calls to confirm the appointment times, review installations details.
Description of Work: Salesman visited on 3/8; provided samples and products chosen. Pressed us to purchase, provided installation over next 2 days for vinyl in kitchen, powder room, foyer and pantry. Carpeting installed in living room,, stairs and upstairs hall, the next day. Gave additional discount for next day installation. Only thing we didn't like, was that he pushed for immediate installation because "if you don't buy today, I don't get paid" (?????)....and " we want to keep our installers busy". We were ready to purchase, so we went ahead. The salesman was personable and gave tons of information about the product, the company and the planned installations. Initial sales call took all afternoon, sales, measurements, explanations, etc. The product came from 2 hours away, so the workmen had a 4 hour drive, besides working many hours on the job.

Carpet purchased on Wednesday evening and installation scheduled for Saturday morning. Received call Saturday morning at 7am saying that they wouldn't be out because they didn't schedule the right installers for the job. I had been confirmed the day prior. The installation coordinator told me they pulled my paperwork that morning...even though they assign jobs the day prior...and they didn't have who I needed to do the job. The coordinator "blamed" it on the salesman and said he didn't let them know...even though it stated so on my contract. I attempted to call the salesman...who said to call him with any problems...and never called me back...even after 3 weeks. The only restitution they offered was $200 off my order. They ended up coming out the Saturday after. Empire practices on "next day delivery" but this obviously doesn't happen . I was hesitant to use this provider but did because of the quick installation. I think they are overpriced and obviously don't care about their customer service.

How did it go? horrible. The tile meets existing hardware floor which was covered by carpet. Previous tiles were thicker so we assumed the new tile would be raised to provide a smooth transition. Not done, leaving about 1/2 inch edge where the old flooring is. Add to that, the contract specified an underlayment which was not installed and when questioned the installer said it wasn't needed, but offered to start using it for the remaining 50%. what? no review or mention that wasn't being installed, just started doing it his way! (wonder if they would have told us about not putting in the underlayment if we hadn't asked) So the cost of the underlayment was to be removed but their policy is PAY THE INSTALLER FULL CONTRACT PRICE BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE..... so the price change now has to go through the corporate office as a refund!! As long as I've been dealing with contractors this is the 1st time the full price is required BEFORE they complete the job. Anyway, in addition to the edge issue there are many tiles with edges or corners which are not flat, disregarding true level, the floor is not flat! The crappy tile work was finished and the next day the carpet was to be installed and after waiting past 4pm we called to say we didn't want the carpet installed until the tile was fixed. They said the crew was already loaded and scheduled but it was after 5pm on a Friday and we didn't want another hurried job and completely refused the install. That didn't sit well with the company, and rescheduling became a chore. We had an inspector come and he recommended, and the company agreed to fix the tiling, although we specifically asked that the same crew not do it they were sent anyway. After talking with the crew they agreed to remove and replace the tile but since they started late they were working straight up until 10pm and had to return the next day to complete; the same day the carpet was to be installed. This time they did put the underlayment down and did raise the level to reduce the edge difference and replaced the tiles. However, THE FLOOR IS STILL NOT FLAT AND THERE ARE TILES EDGES AND LIPS THROUGHOUT THE FLOOR!! Carpeting? well they came to do the carpet, did the prep work and started their work. Not much conversation and no check or overview of the installation. After the carpeting was started we noticed the color was not what we had thought, it was grey and although we had started with that we had changed to another option called teamwork. However, checking the contract, it said color grey, style teamwork, so by the contract it could be grey or teamwork (a beige blend). Fearing we'd need to start yet another uninstall and reinstall they finished the job. In addition to the company policy of payment, the hurried working schedule, and what seems to be an unprofessional approach to the job we will NEVER again use them and certainly will recommend against them to anyone else. PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND HAVE PROFESSIONALS DO THE JOB!

Installation went fine. Installers did not remove all waste (old carpet and padding) and left on driveway and grass. Lead installer promised to pick up next day. He did not. We called 5-6 times and finally after 10 days it was removed. He came late in the day and removed part of the waste and wanted to come back the next day which we declined to agree to based on him not meeting his prior commitments. The carpet was left on our grass which killed the grass. We are trying to put the house on the market and this cost us 10 days of carrying cost before we could do so. Our experience with customer service was unsatisfactory. I asked to speak to a manager. I waited 45 minutes as the customer service rep called every manager desk and cell phone. Not one was available to take a call. I have a separate business renovating homes and buy a lot of carpet and flooring every year. I will definitely not consider Empire in the future.

Two weeks went by and they never came to install the carpet so I had to go with another company.
Description of Work: They postponed my estimate three times and then when they did come, they gave me an estimate that later they said they couldn't honor. Very impressed !!! I've had many ,many carpets installed, in many homes.......everyone...from Joe Battaglia, whe came first, .... measured ,helped with the selection, set up delivery for the next day, explained the whole process.. the two installers, Byron and Rolando, were exceptional. ....Prompt, polite, patient and very pleasant !! They moved furniture (a lot ) with an great helpful attitude...and their work was excellent...I was very impressed with the whole process !

I like their products, but the sales staff, customer service and installers lacked professionalism and maturity. The experience was horrible. The floor installers, disappeared for 90 minutes and then tried to convince me they would need another day to finish. They finished the same day and the result was fantastic. The carpet installers were worse. I had two guys start around 2pm. One left. I called Customer Service and the said he'd be back soon. An hour later, I called again. This time they said he was picking up more carpet for my job. I said they had 800 sq. ft. of carpet, which was slightly more than they needed. Another passed and I called a third time. This time he was picking up carpet for a job that was going to be started after my job. I thought that strange because it was after 6pm. Another hour passed, and then one more. He finally came back, this time he brought another guy. They finished at 12:15am. The result was great. Which is why I didn't give them a "F."

The carpet looks great, however during the installation, the baseboards were scratched up with like 8 feet long marks. I had just painted them earlier that morning so I would not have to risk getting paint on the new carpet, once it was down. I called and all they offered me was $100 to be returned to me. They said that sometimes that happens during installation. I was not satisfied with the way the baseboards looked after installation, however I did accept the $100 back. I would never use Empire Today again.

The representative that came our was slimy. He did not bring carpet samples and kept telling me I did not need to see them because he "knew what I wanted." He was an older gentleman and most likely was under the impression that he was being charming. However, he kept commenting on my appearance at one point even touching my face. My son was in the other room and even he knew, at ten, that the guy was a creeper. He also was interested in whether or not I had gold in the house for his other business. I did not answer because it was such an odd request. The "little woman" attitude that he could not show me carpet without my husband was particularly annoying. The call was high pressure too. He also incorrectly measured the house. I called and complained to Empire, and though my description of the whole event kept the customer service rep laughing - I never heard from Empire, which disappoints me. I would not use this company.

They had a pretty good deal. I was very happy with them. They couldn't beat the price. The quality was good too. The workers were really professional and they were really nice. They were courteous. They were neat. They sent out two people to lay the carpet and it took them a matter of a couple of hours to do it. I was impressed and really liked the service that I got from the representative all the way to the workers. Everybody was just so nice. The price was excellent. One thing that I liked about their work, it's guaranteed for 20 years. They came out in a matter of days. They sent a representative out here to measure and then the workers came out towards the end of the week. The people came to install the carpet towards the end of the week. They were supposed to be here at a certain time, and they were here. There is nothing that I can say that they did that they should not have done or missed. They were wonderful. I would use them again anytime.

Stay away! The only reason to use Empire is if you are flipping a house and need a good LOOKING carpet and don't care how long it lasts. The carpet that we bought that the salesman told us would last at least 15 years has lasted about 4 months. Any of the areas we actually walk on are matted, fuzzy, losing carpet fibers, etc. What good is carpet if you cant walk on it?? It has been cared for well, I vacuum and we have a regular maid service so there is no reason a family of two with no kids or pets should only get a few months of use out of $10k worth of carpet. I called and they sent out a technician, who conveniently had carpet samples to sell me an "upgrade" to a different carpet. So spend MORE money for carpet from your company?? Total bait and switch! Spend a little more and go somewhere else!

The carpet is nice, but the baseboards are a mess now. Also, instead of ending the carpet on the step riser, they brought it around onto the floor of the next level about 2 inches from the top of the step. Luckily I have not replaced that flooring yet, so that can be adjusted. It was a lousy installation job. I have not heard back from Lisa or John from Empire Today yet.
Description of Work: The carpet that was put down was very nice, but the installers sliced long sections out of my baseboards, and put many knicks in it. I can understand a small slice but one of the slices is 8 feet long. I called the company and asked to have it fixed, they told me that sometimes that happens when the carpet is cut before tucking it under. I told them that it was installed very unprofessionally, and they offered to send me $100. to take care of it. So now I have to fix it. I painted the baseboards the night before so it would look nice once the carpet was down. I sent pics and have not heard back from them. I will never use them again.
The job went smoothly from start to finish. Empire Today is designed to maximize their profits and protect them from liability. Be aware the price you pay is determined by the salesperson who is trying to maximize their commission, which if I had to guess is half the profit in the job. Be prepared by getting quotes from other suppliers before you invite them to your home. Again, the job is completed and at this stage looks great (i.e. hardwood ages an you never know what could happen). I would have them back (as long as nothing goes wrong with the completed work).

They were good. They were able to come out and I was able to get an appointment online and when the person is running a little bit late to the appointment, they actually had their answering service contact me to let me know and that was great. Everything from the person selling the product to the installers, they were great and it's just that some of the actual work itself is a little bit lacking, though it was completed. I will use them again but depending on the project that I will have.
Description of Work: I used Empire Today for flooring sales and installation.

I made our first appointment online. Then I read more reviews, and sent an email being a real PITA - 'no hard sales, be on time, be nice cause we're not starting out happy, yadayada'. Later that night we got a call - they got the email, but we're not scheduled anywhere! What!? no problem - she took care of it. If i hadn't gotten scared and sent a demanding email, we would not have known. Alan comes, towards the end of the 2 hour window - nice guy. met for over 3 hours, able to negotiate. All set up, put money down for installation in 2 weeks. Then we get realistic and know we can't pack up all the stuff the way we want in that time. I call them - no problem, more time. I text Alan, just an fyi. He texts me back the following week - the appointment wasn't changed! he takes care of it - and i double checked with him - it was moved. i will call the main number to confirm too. a good save, but wouldn't have happened if I hadn't let Alan know, and if he hadn't checked on it. So - we shall see. Installation set for 3 weeks hence. Cross your fingers. If this goes right, it'll be a great deal with no unsaved slips. Update June 2015. Carpets are holding up ok, but wish we put in a more cushioned padding. The pet protection one is thin and uncushioned. Concerns about linoleum put in entrance hall way - floor boards starting to show through. Surprised - I thought they were going to put something down first, but I didn't see them do it. Also discovered linoleum in kitchen was not well secured when we moved the fridge. Kick boards/edging is also coming unglued in many spots
Description of Work: This is just step one of the process, and i plan to update as we go along. Allow me to explain: Several years ago we had a really, really, and I do mean really bad situation with Empire - a different division (Baths) that I understand they might not be doing anymore (a wise choice). So when we realized we needed flooring absolutely everywhere, we weren't considering them at all. That being said, we were doing homework, and actually met w/ two others (well, one - the other one didn't show up). But two colleagues recommended them with high praise, so i bit the bullet. and so far we've had 2 slip ups, but with quick resolution.
