We unfortunately had a horrible experience with Empire Today Philly. From our first appointment the sales associate, Nizar Alwarasneh, could not answer any questions about how the hardwood floors were finished or how the installation process would work. He was more interested in giving me a big show of on how he could get me such a "great" price than listening to me. Because of this, he assured me the hardwood could be installed on concrete slab. It cannot but he either did not know or did not listen to the question. Our installers showed up a week later and knew immediately it was not possible to install in our house. After 4 calls and hours on the phone with Customer Service, I was assured a manager, Edwin Maldonado, would call me within 24 hours to assign me a new sales associate and to help correct the mistake. When I had not heard from him 24 hours later, I called Customer Service again only to learn that Nizar is the only sales associate in my region and that Edwin would likely take 3 days to get back to me. Within the next 3 days I called Edwin 4 times and left 2 voicemails. I still have never heard back from him. I called Customer Service again and they again assured me a new manager, Michael Onorato, would call back within 24 hours. I have never heard from him either despite calling and leaving voicemails. Against my better judgement, I had a second appointment with Nizar. It was clear to me immediately that he did not tolerate being questioned at all. I don't know if it was embarrassment over his mistake or what but he was incredibly rude. He loudly yelled at me, saying I should respect him because he is older than I am when I asked him to explain how he was coming up with the pricing, which was completely arbitrary. He also could not explain the difference between engineered hardwood and solid hardwood - he called a manager, Shawn Wilkinson, to help. By the end of the call, Shawn was supposed to call me back within 24 hours. I never received a call. When we finally decided to cancel, Customer Service told me they would submit the request and one of the managers (Edwin, Shawn, or Michael) would call in 1-3 business days to talk through options. I had zero confidence I would hear back so thankfully Customer Service expedited my cancellation. I should receive a refund within 3-5 business days... Subsequently have spoken to other Empire Today Philly customers who reiterated a similar experience, particularly the sleazy car sales person approach to the initial sales associate assessment. Absolutely would not recommend and will posting this review through multiple outlets.

We had carpet and vinyl floors installed by Empire. The carpet was fine but there were many issues with the vinyl flooring. Empire sent two teams out to install that both refused to do the work, with the 3rd team sent agreeing to install the flooring. The 3rd team finished the work but left many issues with the vinyl planks. Empire scheduled a repair to be done but no one showed the day of. The following repair they scheduled, the team showed up and fixed a few of the issues but created many more in the process and left after they were done. Following this we requested that Empire send another team to do the work correctly and they refused. We were told the only team they could send would be the original install team because they contract the work out to other flooring companies that do not have the large footprint within the flooring industry that Empire is able to provide. The original install team never came back to repair anymore work due to Empire refusing to honor the warranty for labor and material unless my wife and I signed documentation that would give us a $500 credit and would legally bind us into a "hush" agreement, meaning we were not allowed to speak to anyone of this matter. We refused to sign and they never sent anyone out to fix the floors, they refused to refund us or do anything unless we paid them more money. I would great recommend that anyone thinking of using this company should stay away. The install team Empire hired to do the job told me they were getting paid $1000 for the install from Empire, while Empire was charging me $6000. Stay away from this company. Try to find a local company with ties in the community that actually care for the work performed and customer satisfaction. I hope no one else will have to experience this type of issue. Also do no trust BBB for reviews as I posted my complaint and they closed it out without any resolution and left the post listed with " customer satisfied with outcome" although this is not the truth.

We had laminated floors put in by Empire over ten years ago and we’re extremely satisfied. I wanted another room and a hallway with the same look. The same salesperson came for the estimate. He said the floors would not have a shine and the planks were not as wide. He also said the quarter round would be “ the same”. The floors are much more orange ( I know exact matches are impossible) . The quarter round is also orange against dark walnut baseboard. It looks terrible. My son looked at it and said” who would do that to someone’s home?” I did say to the installer when he was done, ( we were blocked from the area until they were finished) I hate it!” There was dust everywhere, I was so upset, and we hadn’t been able to get to the bathrooms for hours. I just signed the form so they would leave. I emailed Reece Young from customer service and explained how dissatisfied we were. He had someone named Mike call me and tell me “that’s what goes with the floor .” He followed that with a series of no answers. I asked if there was any resolution, had this ever happened before, …? Of course no one contacted us after the job is done to see how they did. I was only shown a small piece of the flooring before they started and never shown the quarter round. We were also required to pay BEFORE the job was started even though they had a down payment. I would have considered paying part of the quarter round replacement ( same as the other rooms) but was offered nothing! It really looks terrible where the rooms meet. I will be contacting a contractor and paying out of pocket to fix this horrendous mess. Very sorry I wanted 5,4000 dollars to be this unhappy. I don’t think we’re fussy customers . If you don’t want to waste your money please be careful and learn from our expensive mistake.

Andy for Empire came by measure the floor and went over all options with me. Andy was a really nice guy did not pressure me at all. Empire did a 741 Square foot room. The came took up my carpet and replaced it with 100% Waterproof Flooring - Click Vinyl Tile. The installers were amazing. Took my carpet up clean the floor and place the Vinyl Tile planking down in 4 hours. The installer were professional and Courteous and inform me of each step they were taking and if I was satisfied with how things were going. They did a great job and the floor looks great I would absolutely 100% recommend empire today. The price was a lot cheaper than others I got quote from.

Be careful they sell a bill of goods and don't stand behind their services. I bought top of the line carpet. Looked great but then rolls start forming. I paid an extra $500 to have the carpet stretched. Now a year later it is doing it again. I asked a pro and he said it wasn't installed correctly. I call and they tell me I need a new carpet. Don't fall for the quick fix and poor customer service. You don't get what you pay for. I'll post pictures in the next few days. Please be warned.

They did a beautiful job, they were professional and the work was very good.

I had hardwood flooring installed in the living, dining and powder room in my townhouse. It went very well. The pedestal sink in the bathroom presented a bit of a challenge as the linoleum being taken up was only 1/8 inch and the hardwood was 3/4 inch. They did a great job cutting and with making it appear the sink was actually sitting on the hardwood. I was very pleased.

Long story short DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME...explanation to follow. Empire was very quick to respond to our inquiry and schedule a salesperson to come out and measure within a few days. The salesperson was prompt and courteous but instead of showing us any products insisted on measuring our home first. I have already done this so had the measurements available for him. After close to an hour and 15 minutes he had my square footage tallied which was within 20 square feet of my measurements. At this point it was time to review product. From the start I let them know I wanted wide plank 3/4 inch hardwood. The salesman insisted on running through everything he had other than what I asked for. I finally stopped him and asked for his solid hardwood product. Empire it turns out only had 3 options of which none were wide plank. At this point he was trying to convince us to look at engineered floors. Feeling guilty about the time he spent we found an engineered floor we were open to and asked for a price. After doing the car sales trick of calling the man in the tower he summoned me to explain how he bent some arms to get me the best price available. His quote was $53,500... Mind you this was 3x the quote I received from a small business owner to remove and replace my flooring along with refinishing the stairs and railings. Empire does not do refinishing so I would have to get someone else to come do that. So after a long a 2+ hour meeting I was completely offended by their quote which any informed consumer will spot as an absolute rip-off.

Empire Today contracts out their salesmen and installers. My installation crew didn't speak a word of English. The carpet install was sloppy. Carpet was cut out and you could see holes around corners. Rug was not stretched underneath the baseboards. I had this done over a month ago and the company only cares about them being paid. Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen. They behaved like used car salespeople. Oh sure, if you look at the reviews and they receive many poor ones, you'll see a pattern. They are quick to reply to the bad reviews and say that they will follow up with the customer but never do. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Another great experience with Empire. From the Sales contact through installation they were punctual, professional and efficient. I requested a sales appointment on Tuesday and on Friday the installation was complete. It looks wonderful and I am so pleased with the entire experience.

I have requested an estimate for flooring with multiple options to evaluate what will fit in my budget to have it installed. The lady came in and took all measurement and gave me an estimate for hardwood which was more tan twice my budget. I also asked for carpet and laminate and she vaguely gave me some calculation for carpet and she seems to be not interested in giving me pricing for any other options and I also was not happy about her interaction. After a week I called back the customer service to request an estimate for laminate and requested a different person to give me an estimate not the lady who came in. They told me somebody from the local market will reach out to me and i waited for 2 weeks and nobody called me. I finally decided to go with Lowes and got my floors installed last week.

We took the old out and they put the new in. They were sarcastic to my husband. It was where you put carpet down in your dining room and then in the living room. Well, they were at that spot where you have to put the metal piece and they gave my husband a hard time about putting the metal piece down. I thought that was unnecessary. They should have just put the piece down and that was the end of it. I called the company. The guy went out and got the metal piece and put it down. I would have called. I had the phone in my hand. It took average time. There were 2 workers both times.

The first two guys that came out were great.

They were excellent. The installers were good. We had called around about prices.

The installers were not that good. We had to call them back to straighten out something. They only had one person on the crew that spoke any English, so it was hard to communicate. They did not do quite as good as a job as the first crew. The company is good, but they have different installation crews. Some crews are better than the others. They just need to make sure that all of their crews are well trained and able to communicate clearly. The price was good. They were having a half price sale. The wood is nice.

It was great. The two guys showed up early and spent the entire day laying the floor. it looks terrific and the price was reasonable.

Very well. Everyone from the salesperson to the installers was very professional. I would use this company again.

The installers caused damage that the company refused to repair. In the first couple of months, the flooring is already bubbling.

I had made two different appointments for a sales associate to show up. When I scheduled they guaranteed that someone would come both times. No one showed up. When I called for the last time they said someone would come and infact they said that I would be the first appointment at 9am. Then I waited and waited and when they were suppost to come at 11am. They still didn't come so I got on the phone with a supervisor and the supervisor just that they didn't put me in. I am never going to use this company again. I am soooo upset.

They did a magnificent job. They cut the wood outside to avoid getting dust in the house and they matched up the molding with the flooring perfectly. I would recommend them to anybody.

I went directly to Empire because several years ago in this same house I called them to replace the carpets and the salesmen told me that the carpets were ok that only needed professional cleaning. The sales person (Joe) that we worked with us was very attentive "until the sale was completed". The carpet installers were punctual and did an ok job. HOWEVER, we lost various pieces in the house including broken lamps and they left a huge mess in the house. After that I called Joe and send a couple of text message with NO response whatsoever. I have to say that the work of the laminate installer (Diego and crew) was excellent and for that reason I give the overall rating as a "C". Another however, the quality of the laminate was not as I expected from the description from Joe. I can say now that Joe is your typical salesmen, with no follow up after the sales is done and to sell for whatever it takes. I definitively don't recommend Empire unless you are really looking for a cheap and fast job. I already told that to my neighbors who were looking for carpets. I know I am a hard rater but is honest and this is what I expect from Angie's list people.

Initially, in July 2016, they sent out subcontractors to install hardwood flooring. They claimed they couldn't do the job through Empire but asked me to hire them for $4500 on the side which was less than Empire's quote. They also pulled up some of my hardwood floors original to the house but then stated they couldn't do the work because they needed more equipment that they only use through their company. Empire had to refund me $500 for the damage. I had over a $6000 credit line so I called them back but I was given a new higher quote. I still disputed the $10,000 cost for vinyl flooring installation for 3 rooms.

What a waste of time. Of course their "50/50" deal only applied to certain products. All we wanted was to pick out flooring get a price and get on with our night. The salesman called his boss to get us a "good deal". It was more than we wanted to pay, but we were willing to go with it. But first we had to sit through his life story. He did the typical salesman tricks trying to win over the wife (me) and seal the deal. He took up a couple hours of our time talking about himself. What he failed to do was his job. He never checked the flooring under our carpet. When the installers came out that was the first thing they did. They told us they were certain our tile was asbestos and because of that we couldn't get the hardwood we had picked because it would have to be nailed in. You can't do that with asbestos. If he had done his job we would have picked out another flooring right then and there, but instead they have lost a sale. Just out of curiosity we asked the installers to measure. The salesman hadn't even gotten the measurements right. They would not have had enough flooring to complete the job. I wasted two vacation days on these people. They have since contacted me three times. The second time I asked them not to contact me again or I would post this information online.....so here I am. Moral of the story DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH EMPIRE.
