Description of Work: They installed red oak hardwood in our dining room, living room and on our stairs. Since it was very humid, they had to make 3 trips before their meter indicated the wood and underlayment were dry enough. They also put waterproof lining under the wood. The workers were very pleasant and easy to deal with. They worked quickly and carefully matched the boards to each other (color and any pattern in each board). They were finally able to finish the entire job in one day.

Description of Work: Please do yourself a favor, if you don't trust me, go to Yelp and see for yourself!! |Worst experience ever... First the "attractive" price per room or special offers seen on TV are just lies: They never include work nor subfloor.. Once you have opened your door to the Sales Rep (who will brainwash you the necessary amount of time for you to sign their crazy contract the same day) you are already lost... The lack of choice and colors indicate clearly they do volume and if so their prices should just be broken! But they're high and they are not ashamed to show you a quote that is 4 times the Home Depot's estimate for the same work... |Installation Team was from far the more OK one... almost on time, finished the work the same day, nice people. BUT work isn't perfect at all and the way they handle their installation teams has something to do with it... (BTW be prepared to have old-funny privately owned trucks full of carpet and people showing up the D-day and also your carpet to be cut right there on the asphalt :-)) |Anyway... All this "can happen"... What should not happen is a shedding like h*** carpet after we mentioned allergy issues, a baby at home etc. and above all the lack of Customer Service... It'll take you days to get someone on the phone, who will deny everything you say... Finally they might send you a Cust Rep Manager or an Expert (depending on where you are in the process)... who will take pictures of your home, rooms etc, write comments, touch your arm reassuring you're in good hands and now problems will be solved, then disappear... and you're back to square 1 (even below if you will!) Anyway, after a year of silly negotiation, disdain like never from ET and so many vacuum bags filled up with their terrible products fibers and shedding, we were done... and got this removed! |Any local family business, any Home Depot will offer MORE choices, MORE flexibility, MORE consideration and respect... for a price than will be so much lower!! |Please, do yourself and your family a huge favor, read Yelp reviews, call friends, believe us who have no reason to write such things if they are not true!... At least COMPARE before signing anything with them... Be ready if you open your door, have a witness, a friend, have already a few competitors' quotes... They only count on the pressure sales... Our sales rep even started to rip off our existing carpet to convince us we had to change right away... |Stay away from Empire Today and you'll be safe!

Description of Work: Do not use Empire Today. They come into your home for an estimate to give you an estimate and when it is all done you feel like you just spent too much time with a used car salesman. They give you a quote that is high, but they try explaining why it is and then go into "this deal is only good if you sign today". When we told them a few days later that we are using a different company all of a sudden the deal that was only good that day can now be significantly reduced to match their competitor's price. The Empire Today representative can charge whatever he wants, as they are commission based employees, which is not in a buyers best interest. STAY AWAY FROM EMPIRE TODAY, TOMORROW, AND ALL DAYS!

Description of Work: I will NEVER, NEVER use or recommend Empire Today ever again. I am a dentist, had engaged Empire to replace two room floors in my office. After the installation was all arranged the day the men came out to install the new floors they told us we had an asbestos problem and they could not do the installation. We were told when we get a certificate that the floors and asbestos were properly removed they would return to do the job. naturally after re-arranging patient visits we were upset this was not told to us before waiting until the actual Installation date. OK, I figured it is what it is, asbestos must be removed so we had to engage a company that removes and disposes of asbestos. They came out, we paid them about $900 and were told after the flooring was tested we had NO ASBESTOS! Naturally we were upset, delaying the flooring installation even further but finally made arrangements to have the floor removed by the "asbestos removal company" followed a week later with Empire to install the new floors. Everything all set, the floors were picked up and removed leaving us with a concrete floor for treating patients and we were all set for a week later to finally get the new flooring with Empire. Then, after the floors had already been taken up the "installer" from Empire called us and told us he could NOT install the new floors because we have a "dental chair" which he won;t move! It had always been in the room,the man who gave us the estiomate from Empire sw the chair and knew it had to be moved and reppaced after the original removal of old flooring and placement of new flooring and after first the asbestos delay and now the excuse of the chair in the way I was really mad!!! I called Empire and told them they had better get someone out to place the new floors as proimised so a "supervisor came out, promised us no more headaches and problems, took one of out office keys and arranged finally for the installation over the weekend. The weekend came and went and no installation-another lie!!!!! I finally had another vendor install the floors. This took approx., 6-8 weeks dealing with Empire that not only caused us hassle and aggravation but it is shameful how a company can operate that way and with no apparent responsibility to consumers to whom they make those wonderful promises in their many commercials. I caution anyone considering Empire at least in my area (Willow Grove, PA) to seriously consider using anyone BUT Empire or take the chance of being lied to with delays after delays.

Description of Work: I would highly recommend them. I did the buy one room, get two free deal that they advertise on tv. I asked the technician for his card as he did beautiful work in my dining room. The next day, the sent other workers out to finish the carpeting. They were very conscientious about everything. From the work they did in my house, I would say go get 'em! They did a great job in my home.

It was a complete waste of time.
Description of Work: The Empire Carpet sales person came to our home after my guy contacted them to gather more information about the special quoted on TV which stated that carpeting could be purchased for two rooms and the remainder of the house would be carpeted for free. This advertisement is a racket. The sales person said that we still had to pay for padding and labor. My guy asked the salesperson to tell him what the breakdown was to see if we would proceed and all he told him was that he doesn't really go by that, but that he could give us a good price on the two rooms and give 20% off on the other rooms. What a ripoff--because it didn't sound anything like the TV advertisement. He also asked the salesperson to tell him what the carpet price is without the padding and labor and he couldn't get that information either. Once the salesperson finally presented him with a final price, he was told that it still had to be okayed with the office and that if he didn't go with that price on that day, it would no longer be available to us. He then took all the paperwork, didn't leave a card and left; we haven't heard back from Empire Carpets since.

Description of Work: The individuals they send out to install your carpet are not working for the company but are just contractors. I was having capet installed in my finished basement. The ones that installed my carpet took all my furniture and just crammed it anywhere they felt like, such as in with my cat litter. They had no regard for my furnsihings. They crammed stuff into my heater room and I had to have my heater fixed because it vibrated after they were done from then jamming my nordic track into my heater room. They also took my new carpet and laid it out on the street to measure it, walking all over the carpet in the process. It had just rained before they came. When I called to report all this, the woman I spoke to acted as if I was boring her to death. If I had it to do all over again I would pay extra to have a bettter grade of carpet and a professional job done.

THEY CLAIM NEXT DAY SERVICE, BUT THATS A CROCK. IT TOOK TWO WEEKS TO COME OUT AND THEN THEY MEASURED WRONG. THEY HAD TO COME BACK ANOTHER DAY.
